Curve 8900 not booting

Hello,
After an update of some applications, my curve doesn't boot anymore.
I just have the red light flashing (2 flashes pause 3 flashes).
I tried to reload the OS, but my BB is not recognized. I tried different USB ports, nothing happens ...
Can anybody help me ?
Thanks,
Delafoy

You will need to use BBSAK or JL_Cmder to wipe the device and subsequently load the OS to the device. Follow the instructions here:
http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/How_do_I_wipe_the_BlackBerry_using_Jl_Cmder%3F
For BBSAK, here is the link: http://bbsak.org/
If JL_Cmder does not work, follow this instructional:

  • Curve 8900 not connecting to Desktop Software version 6.0.0.40

I am not able to connect my Curve 8900 to the BlackBerry Desktop Software Version 6.0.0.40.  When I connect via USB it asks for the password  and then it says connecting in the bottom right corner - it never connects.  I also have the Blackberry Device Manager version 6.0.0.11 running at startup but it does say that the device is connected.  There are no errors in the device manager.  I am running Windows XP SP3.

No one else replied, but I seem to have solved the problem, more or less, so I thought I'd report back.  See previous message for the setup.
    1) First attack - make a concerted effort to truly undelete the 2 old versions of Desktop Manager.  The typical list of "how to cleanly uninstall" (link above) is incomplete.  This document is much better: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB02206 .
The part that matters is near the bottom, under Additional Information.  Basically, take a shovel to the Registry and start digging out absolutely every reference to "Research In Motion" using the Edit/Find.  I added to that recommendation a search on "BlackBerry" and even, for good measure, all the Roxio software (and removed the Roxio folders just like the Research In Motion folders).  I can't say which part did the trick, but I could see some of the Install and Uninstall list items go by.
This finally killed the zombie entries in the Add/Remove Programs list, and prevented the Windows Installer attempts on unfindable .msi files.
    2) Problems: In killing Roxio, I may have accidentally munged a Sonic registry entry.  When I installed the Desktop Manager fresh from the CD, it complained about a registry-style confusion with Sonic software.  It allowed me to continue past that point anyway.
I can't fix that, but I will be swapping in new PCs in a couple of months and can live with whatever reduced functionality might be involved.
When I started the Desktop Manager for the first time, I could see Windows Installer popups fly by in the background, but none of them stayed open, and perhaps that will be a one-time problem.  Otherwise, if related to the Sonic issue, at least it's not a functional problem that prevents me from using the Desktop Manager.
    3) I can now connect to the Desktop Manager via USB, but am unable to successfully update the device software.  It goes through the backup process apparently successfully, but issues an error message about "Fatal error" before installing much (any?) of the new software.  Seems to be a benigh error - phone still works.  Because this will be reinstalled on a clean PC in a couple of months, I can pass on upgrading the device software until then.
    4) All I care about is the ability to synch the contact and calendar data and, by god, that seems to be working!!!  And it's much faster than my older BB.
If you're reading this, it's because you have an ongoing nightmare...  You have my sympathy.

  • 8900 not booting or working - Battery Red Cross - Help

    Hi.
My phone isn't working, switching on and it isn't charging either. I had charged the phone fully and checked some email. An hour later when I picked up the phone to check for new mails the screen was black (as in turned itself off) and well, it's not going back on.
I've tried to charge the phone with the wall adapter as well as by USB cable and in all the attempts the red light goes on and then off and then a battery with a cross displays on the screen.
I tried charging overnight and tried to switch it on but with the same result.
I also tried to update the phone with the desktop software as well as online. The phone connects and is recognised but in both the cases in the middle of the process (while the screen says "reconnecting to JVM") an error message appears saying "There was an error updating your software - Unable to reconnect to the device during a multistage load operation"
Finally thinking that it is a battery issue, I purchased a new original battery and tried charging (wall and USB) and also updating the software but the same errors occurred.
I also tried the dropping and removing the battery and reinserting methods but to no avail.
    Help!!! Anyone

    Update
I gave the phone to the authorised service centre and they have told me that the main board has a short and cannot be repaired or rectified. I understand from them that RIM does not replace mainboards as the phone IMEI, PIN etc changes and it essentially becomes a new phone. This phone was just 18 months old and is out of warranty so I guess the only option is to throw this into the garbage.

  • BB Curve 8900 died and will not turn on with the red lights on all the time

    Hey all
The Blackberry Curve 8900 I have battery completely drained yesterday afternoon and I could not connect it to a charger until I get back home last night.  I plugged the phone in around 11:00 , and even now 8 in the morning still wont be able to switch it on and the red light is on all the time.
Its a brand new one, I dont know what should I do to make it working.
    Thanks for all your help!!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Typically, these batteries do not like to be fully drained...while rare, it has been known to render the battery useless. But, before you jump to that, there are a few diagnostic steps you can take.
Get a known good and fully charged battery -- put in in your BB. See if it works. See if you can charge.
Get a known good other charger, attach it to your BB, see if it charges.
    Try a different power outlet.
Give your battery to someone with the same model BB that they know charges fine. See if they can charge it.
The results of these steps will guide you to the root cause...which could be your battery, your BB, your charger, or the wall outlet you were using.
    Good luck!

  • Curve 8900 Track ball does not select (but moves properly)

Hi, the track ball of my Curve 8900 does not select when pressed. When rolling it works ok. It seems to be a SW problem because I changed the sw version and it started to work again (not very reliable) and know it does not work anymore... Any idea what to do? Thank you very much!

Hi, I have exactly the same problem written above. Is it really the only solution to by a media card? Why can I not download my pics from the internal memory of the device? Is there no way to download the pictures I have done until now without media card?

  • My blackberry 8520 curve not booting

    hi
my blackberry not booting, it show red led indicatior and no life.
trying udpating os but it come to the stage reconnecting jvm and message appears "application loader could not connect to your device. Please reconnect your device, enter password if required, and click retry"
    what to do now..
    regards

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain a known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Curve 8900 Trackball will click but not select

My BB Curve 8900 trackball will navigate all directions and even make the click noise, but it won't select anything. I am thinking of taking the trackball out and cleaning out the gold plate under the trackball but I was wondering if anyone else had the same problem and if you did, how you solved it. Thanks in advance.

well, I decided to take apart my phone and do some surgery. To make things short, I fixed my trackball in about 10 minutes. If you need help with anything, just PM me.

  • BlackBerry Curve 8900 Locked - Not Accepting Password - I'm Original/Only Owner of Device

Hello - I'm brand new to this Forum.  I've had my Blackberry Curve 8900 since September of 2009 (original owner) and this is only my second problem with the phone. (My trackball gave out last July, but I had it fixed and it is good as new).
Anyway, I received an email this morning to update the password for my email account (Hotmail) and I updated via my settings on the phone. Then 10 minutes later my phone locked and asked for a password. I recently updated my Blackberry ID password and received a confirmation. Now when I enter this password into my phone to unlock it...I keep getting the message that it is "incorrect" and how many tries I have left out of 10 (it says information will be erased if one more wrong attempt). I already have done this 9 times and it keeps getting rejected.  I only have one attempt left and I'm extremely frustrated. Isn't this password the same as the BlackBerry ID password? What else can I do? Help!  Now all I can do is make call & receive calls. I'm unable to check email or text messages since phone is locked.  Please help!

    Hello FlowerChick,
Welcome to the forums and sorry to hear about your issue.
Before you made any changes did you use a password to lock your device? If so then this would be the password you need to enter. Hope this helps. Let us know if we can help out in any other way.

  • New battery, D-X1 for curve 8900, does not work!

I got my Blackberry curve 8900 last christmas (dec-25-2013) and started to experience some problems with it. it started to crash and whent to a blank white screen and wouldn't turn back on. I also noticed my battery was warped to a shocking size! I asked friends if they had the same problem and I read online that I needed a new battery. I then bought a new D-X1 battery and now it wont even charge! the read light comes on for a few second when I plug the charger in for a few seconds and blinks! the phone wont even turn on! does anyone know what is causing this problem and how I can solve it?
    thanks

Have you tried a hard reset (shut off, remove battery, replace battery)? My camera was working fine for the first few weeks, then stopped zooming, only showing the '+' on top of the camera icon, though the trackball was still working. After the hard reset, the -/+ option returned to normal.

Hi!  I have only had my blackberry Curve 8900 for a week.  It used to blink when I got a text message.  It has stopped blinking.  Does anyone know why?  T Mobile is my carrier.  I am 50 plus women, so this is all new to me.  I am learning fast and love my BB but some thing still get me confused.

  • Data Issues with New Curve 8900 on ATT

Hi, I just got this Blackberry Curve 8900 yesterday for ATT, and it's my first Blackberry. Everything was working fine up until earlier today when I realized that my data wasn't working properly. The data will work with certain apps, but certain apps with also not connect. My e-mail and BB Messenger also will not connect. The only way for me to get them to work is if I connect to wifi, but other than that on my EDGE the majority won't connect.
Here is a list of apps i've compiled that shows what works with what:
    -Works with Data & WiFi-
    BB Browser
    iheartradio
    FML
    poynt
-Won't Work with Data but will work with WiFi-
    BB E-Mail
    BB Messenger
    BB App World
    Facebook
    Twitterberry
    Myspace
    Google Maps
I went to Manage Connections, and Mobile Network Options and my data is set to on, and i've done muliple battery pulls to no avail. When I turn on my WiFi all my emails and alerts that I missed come rushing in. For example I resent a Service Book to my device and I did not receive that until my WiFi was turned on. My "EDGE" is in capital letters so i'm receiving data.
Can someone please help me solve this frustrating topic? It really is mind boggling.
    Thanks!
    Stephen B.

You have a BlackBerry Data plan right? I'm assuming so since it works sometimes
Also if you notice when the Wi-Fi is off, if you go into Manage Connections | Service Status does the BlackBerry Internet Service say it's connected to the Mobile Network? Or if you go into Mobile Network Options can you run a Diagnostics Test and see if it sees that your data is connected?
If someone has been helpful please consider giving them kudos by clicking the star to the left of their post.

  • Lack of support for Curve 8900 and Storm in terms of theme builder

Searching hard for a workaround to be enable to export or even start creating theme with 480x360, as for now i always got back on the "wait for 4.7". But the customers are yelling now.
Second thing: Modify the media screen, as you may noticed, the media screen never changes regardless how the theme looks.
I wish you all a happy new year, make me happy to, and provide me with some useful content, so that i will be there at your place to support others.

other wise, I don't know... Curve 8900 and Bold shouldn't be so different ?
anyway, things always take time with new devices. shortage of device, not enough supplies for accessories, Media Sync compatibility available several days after a device is released...

  • BB Curve 8900 - randomly stops receiving emails and requires battery pull

I'm a newb to BB and this forum has helped a lot but my BB Curve 8900 randomly stops receiving emails about every 2 days and requires a battery pull to correct.
When it stops receiving emails and I go to the browser, it is also unable to connect. I basically lose all connection to data. I can receive calls and sms.
Turning unit off and on does not help.
I need to do a battery pull. Then starts working fine right away.
    I'm with Rogers in Canada
Is there a fix for this? Could I possibly have a bad phone? Battery pull once is a while is fine but to need to do that every 2 days is not.

Something similar happens to me.  I have to keep resending the service books and then it works fine, try this, at least it will stop you keep doing a hard reset.  I have read somewhere else that this can be influenced by having your phone to turn off at night etc.  So for now I have turned this feature off.  I can actually receive emails via wifi and the failure is only on GPRS.  It sounds a bit strange but I am also becoming convinced that it only occurs when I leave home, go somewhere else and then come back.
Read this below.  I did do all this but it hasnt worked for me, may help you though
