Curve 8900 - Unable to edit address book

Tried but unable to edit address book for some days now and the phone just hangs. after turning it off and on, i get the following message: "Uncaught exception, Application net_rim_bb_ address book app (471) is not responding, process terminated"
Any solution, please?

Ive updated the instructions
This what I did to completely wipe my BB. I wrote this before starting and printed it off.
If your device is functioning, perform a backup now if you haven't already done so saving the file to a place and in a name that you can easily locate on computer.
I then uninstalled DTM and then deleted all other references to BB/Rim in Windows Explorer thus removing the OS for the BB from the computer in order to ensure that the version I would reinstall would be a brand new downloaded version.
Get the latest Desk Top Software (DTS)
http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/?CPID=OTC-DSKTPSW&cp=OTC-DSKTPSW
and install it on the computer.
Get the correct latest version of the OS
http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
and save it to computer.
To erase all the data on your BlackBerry device, complete the following steps.
1) Download JL_Cmder from http://www.4shared.com/get/oqP9V-2Q/JL_Cmder_v19.html
2) Install JL_Cmder to computer.
3) Double check you have already backed-up the BB. If you DO NOT, you will lose ALL data.
4) Make sure the DTS is closed and plug in the BB to computer via USB
5) Go to the JL_Cmder on your computer and double click it to start. Now,this may take a few tries to connect, so keep trying until it does.
6) On the first screen, Press any key to continue.
7) Now, if your device uses a password, enter it now. If not, press "N"
8) Press 4 to initiate the WIPE
9) Press "Y" to continue
10) Now type "blackberry" to continue
11) On the BB you will see a white screen with a'507' Error. Don't worry, this is what you want! You are now ready to install the OS.
Launch the new Desk Top Software on the computer
1). On the home screen of the BlackBerry® Desktop Software, click Device > Update my device.
2). Click View Other Versions. Click the version of the new OS you previously downloaded.
3). Click Install. The DTM will install the OS and then provide you with a list of applications to install. If you have had difficulties with an app, do not install it.
Do not disconnect the device until the whole process is completed and the device has rebooted.
After 10 minutes reboot again by removing the battery whilst powered-on and leave it out for a couple of minutes.
Leave it again for 10 minutes. You should now have a fully functioning BB!

I can't figure out how to edit address book entries on my printer. Can someone provide some tips?

One of the easier ways to do this is through the EWS, or embedded web server. Find the IP address of your printer by pushing the wireless icon on its display, and put that ip in to a web browser ad if it was a web site. After that if you go to scan to email along the right, or you may have to go to scan along the top first, you should see address book on the left column. This is going by memory so if that doesnt work let me know and i confirm on an actual unit.

Thunderbird builds summary everytime and unable to load address book abook.mab?

Hello,
I'm using TB from years but now first time I'm facing this problem with TB. When I open TB it starts building summary file for few folders and during startup I also get address book message: Unable to load address book file abook.mab locked by another application etc.
Yesterday I have deleted all MSF files in every folder of my default profile folder and it worked yesterday but today again this problem occurs. I can't see any address book loaded in address book page, white blank page.
Any body who can help me with this? Thanks

PAB_CMD_GET_PABS:Unable to open address book

Hi, i have running iMS 5.2 with more than 40000 users. I have the next problem with one of our users when he wants to make a new message: a window error appears with the next message: "PAB_CMD_GET_PABS:Unable to open address book"

As far as I know there are three things that can lead to this error message
<ul><li>The ldap-server in the paburi and the ldap-server configured in the mail-server differ
<li>The paburi does not contain the RDN of the user as it's last ou component That is: If for example your user has the following RDN: uid=the_user. Then the RDN of the paburi must be ou=uid=the_user.
<li>The path to the paburi doesn't exist in the ldap. That is: If your paburi ends in the following dn: ou=uid=the_user, ou=domain, o=pab then the nodes o=pab and ou=domain, o=pab must exist. The Webmail application will create the node ou=uid=the_user, ou=domain, o=pab, but not its parents.

AB_CMD_GET_PABS:Unable to open address book

My iMS 5.2 is configured with iDS 5.1.
Error : "AB_CMD_GET_PABS:Unable to open address book"
I had gone thru all the replies in this regard.
Even the pab attribute value is correct w.r.t the user's DN.
My application creates a new user with mail options enabled.The objectclass attribute values that are assigned to the new user are inetUser,ipUser,
inetmailuser.
I am able to access the webmail of a user created using the iDS console.
But this error comes while accessing the webmail of the user created by my appln.
Suggest me what all attributes are required to solve my problem ?and why icons of the users created by my application are round in shape instead of the default ones.

Unable to Sync or Edit Address Book

For some reason I can not sync or edit my listings in my address book anymore. When I Sync, nothing happens to my address book, also if I click a listing on my Mac, the edit button stays greyed out.
I would be willing to remove any sort of database on my Mac and let my iPhone replace everything, if I knew how to do that.
I have ran the disk utility on it, with no effect. Any other suggestions?

Can't edit address book in OSX 10.7

I'm unable to edit any cards in Address book. The edit optino is greyed out in the Menu bar. Why is this? I have the same problem on my Laptop and Mac Pro. I'm using MobileMe . Is this something to do with it ?

I am on 10.7 & no matter what I did i couldn't find the Library/ApplicationSupport/AddressBook folder that almost everyone insists is there (well a number of frustrated forum users can't find it). I even 'revealed all hidden folders' in Application Support & searched under Spotlight ... nothing, yet Finder>Services>Reveal found it there!! Now I could delete the Addressbook-v22.abcdmr file. I did this, re-opened my address book app (the Addressbook-v22.abcdmr file returns) and Presto! ... so has my Edit button at the bottom of the Address Book app ... it's taken my a few hours over a few months to get that sorted ... now, back to my life.

Unable to delete Address Book File

I am unable to delete nor copy over an Address Book file that I have on an external HD connected via Airport Extreme. When I connect the HD directly to my Macbook Pro, I am able to delete the file - but not via Airport Extreme. When I attempt to delete the file, I get a message from Trash as follows: The operation cannot be completed because the item "Metadata" is in use. Same message when I attempt to replace the file with a new file. In other words, I am unable to use AE to transfer my Address Book file to my external HD, unless I change the name of the file. What is going on here?

You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

Add or edit address book using Desktop Manager

Is there any way that I can add or edit my address book using the Desktop software? I would like to input email addresses and other information into my address book on my blackberry without having to type everything in on the blackberry. I was hoping there would be a way to do that on my PC and have it sync to my phone.

he following steps will help you to configure synchronization -
Connect your device using Desktop Manager and click on Synchronization
From the menu on the left click Synchronization under Configuration
Again click Synchronization button on the right which will give you option to Select Device Application that you want to synchronize
Put the check mark and you'll get a prompt to Select Desktop Application
Highlight the application name and click next button
Under Synchronization Option you get Direction of Synchronization
Check the radio button with Two way sync
Note: above mentioned steps are explained as per Desltop Manager 4.5
Example: Synchronize addressbook -
Connect you HH with your desktop Manager in your PC. If you device is set to wireless sync then you need to turn off wireless synchronization. To do so go to Address Book -> click Menu -> Options -> Wireless Synchronization: No -> click Menu and Save the changes.
Click on the Synchronize button on Desktop Manager -> Click on Configuration Tab then click on Configure Synchronization -> Click on Choose under Address Book (on the right side of the pop up window) -> Click on you organizer apps (like, MS outlook, Lotus notes etc) -> Select desired apps -> select Synchronization radio button and click OK twice go back to Synchronize tab ->click on Synchronize Now.

Blackberry curve 8320 and MacBook pro address book issue.....

I have a BB Curve 8320 and MacBook pro and am currently using PocketMac for synching. My address book contacts have all been copied onto my blackberry except for the e mail field on each of the contacts. Very strange- names, addresses, phone numbers- all okay...no e mails???? Any thoughts. No other issues also with calendar synchs, etc.

Curve 8330 no longer synching address book or calendar

My Curve 8330 stopped synching with Outlook 2007. It gives an error message saying "Blackberry Desktop Manager has stopped working; A problem caused the program to stop working correctly." It does this after is has reconciled both the address book and calendar.

8830 World Edition Address Book Problems

I have an 8830 World Edition from Verizon...
Now I know they have their own software on the phone, and I'VE UPDATED it as of 2 days ago.
When I put a new contact in my phone, my phone completely freezes and I have to shut off my phone and turn it back on to get it working again. When the phone freezes, the little hourglass shows up at random, and that's it. Once I turn my phone back on, my new contact is saved though. This is a very irritating problem. Any ideas of how to fix the address book? Please help me. Thank you all very much!

Does anyone know of a way to change a number of address book entries at the same time?
Say, for example, You move offices. Now you need to change the work address for 150 people... how would you go about doing that?

How to edit address book?

Mostly I want to purge email addresses which are no longer valid.

Firefox does not have an address book. If you have an address book as part of a web based email service that you are using, you need to contact the support for the email service. The address book will be part of the email service that you are using and not Firefox.

Problems with autofill when editing address book entries

When i try to change eg miller to Miller, anna to Anna etc
1) the initial letter remains lower case and
2) even worse, another iller/nna is added on to the end - milleriller, annanna etc.
I've tried deleting the whole name and starting again - no joy. Is something going wrong with Autofill? Are there any preference files i should try trashing?
NB this problem only occurs with names which appear more than once in the address book.

i was having this problem, specifically it kept offering me the word I wanted except all in capitals, which I didn't want. Turned out the cause was that the word was actually used in all capitals elsewhere in my Address Book. Once I hunted down all occurrences of this word in capitals and changed them to my preferred format the autocomplete stopped offering the all-capitalised version. Perhaps this approach will help for you.
