If activation did complete you might have a corrupt contact or calendar entry
I use this for my exchange users, lotus might be different
Start with this.
In outlook Make a new folder for contacts called backup
move all contacts to the folder and wait for all to be removed from device
then pull battery on device and put back in
After device boots move contacts from backup to the contacts folder and wait for them all to appear
Make a new contact in outlook and see if it gets to the device.
Backup device then in Outlook
highlight calendar
goto file import/export
choose export to file
choose Persoanl folder pst, next
make sure calendar is highlighted and choose subfolders if you have them, next
save to desktop with a name you can remember, Finish
Click ok on screen popup
Go to view, arange by events
delete all entries.

  • Why Does My Curve 9300 Keep Freezing

Why does my BB Curve 9300 keep freezing?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The reason it's freezing all the time is you are out of application memory.
I recommend installing BlackBerry Desktop Software and making a full backup of the device. Then do a Security Wipe. You can do the wipe by going to Options and type security wipe in the search bar. Don't include the media card but include 3rd party apps. You can install those again later via BBWorld.
When it's done, you can restore only the databases you really need like email, calendar, contacts, etc.
When you're all done make sure that media is saved to the media card. I recommend getting a much bigger card so you have room for pictures and videos. You don't want that data saved on the device memory.

  • WHY SUCH AN INJUSTICE THAT BBM CANNOT BE USED ON MY CURVE 9300 OVER NORMAL DATA SERVICE AND OTHER PLATFORMS CAN USE!

    Hello,
I am using Blackberry Curve 9300. I purchased this phone for Rs. 17,250 before some 3 years, I considered RIM to be a Company providing premium services which is unique in itself and which worth spending on them and the most important thing is those are not available to non-blackberry users! Especially in case of Blackberry Messenger, which is such a service connecting all the blackberry users around the world, making a mark of precious symbol of the users of BBM.
Before few days I came to know about BBM being available on Android and Windows phones, my question is why this injustice with your own customers, you provide the app which they will use with their normal data plan and we people who are your real customers, who trusted in you have to spend not less than Rs.129 for just BBM!I must say RIM is the most back-stabbing company I have had ever dealt with! People are laughing at us as they are using the same service for almost free and we have to spend a huge sum for availing the same service, my question is are these non blackberry people your customers or we people who contributed in your success with hopes of trust?
My question is not why you made available BBM usage to non-blackberry users with such flexibility but my question is why can't you be loyal to your own customers?
I hope that RIM would have a pleasing justification.

Thanks with the signature but I already removed it from my profile too.
I was never under a rock when it comes to technology I know that in India before few months yoru Blackberry Z10 was Rs.44,000 and now it is Rs.21,000. I understand the ploy of making BBM cross platform to generate revenue, first in a technical sense and another by creating it advrtisement in the marker.
Do you think that taking an undue advantage of our loyaty and enduring the mockery of your own customer would take you anywhere? Don't you think that abusing your own customer's prestige would even affect you negatively? While your customer is paying Rs.129 for just BBM the Android person sitting next to him is lauging at him for he paid you and call him fool! Profits doesn't starts only by making huge business decisions but from the loyal and satisfied customers. You may always find customers all around always complaining but deep down if you have touched their needs they will bless you with good words at your back, maybe in such a way that you will never come to kow but it will grow you more. I am not here to deliver you a marketing lecture as i am in corporate law field but let me tell you what I read during my graduation, it said something like one disatisfied customer can discourage ten potential customers from buying your product and I have started feeling the same in case of online shopping but I do not know when the company giant blackberry would come to know!
When you said about expanding customer base, think about a company who is expanding its base of customers by disatisfing their current customers who always took pride in you by providing them services at harsh terms and in front of their eyes others are getting benefits at a very low cost.
Our family business is textile manufacturing, not as big as blackberry but we always knew that if we will start selling our goods by describing them as really premium goods and start charging out of lips and bounds, of course my product could be premium worth the price but one thing I could be missing would be a point of finance, there could be cheaper alternatives in market which could be selling at lower price which same usage. My concern is just to keep our eyes open.
Now consider a phone on which I can use Whatsapp which satisfies my messaging needs, gtalk and yahoo messengers for my im needs, push mails for emails, browsing and downloading for just Rs.99 and on the other hand Blackberry services for Rs.389, it is indeed clear the reason of downfall, though it is labelled as premium service and indeed it could be, permium service as I said earlier.
When you feel that your boat is sinking, you do not have only have to pull out the waters but on the priority basis you have to cover the hole too! Blackberry is just pulling out the water leaving the hole as it is!
If you say that legacy mode in BBOS could bother you  from providing BBM for BB device, you know that it cannot be and even I know that, any technical person can know that as it is a little secret that I can use BB browser without BIS and many other apps are example of the same (to be a bit informal). See, I never asked this thing from last three years but now when you are making it cross platform why not to give a little benefits to those who paid you till now, if you can give it to those who are nothign to you?
My question is that why can't you provide BBM to be used on the normal data paln for your own old and loyal customers who paid you such a handsome amount from many years for your services as how you provide on other platform, just for BBM not email and rest of your services?

  • Curve 9300 keeps opening preivous SMS message

Hi, I recently updated my Curve 9300 to the 6.6.0.207 OS and since then whenever I recieve a text message and I click to open it up it will open my previous text message, and it will do this multipul times, however it doesn't seem to do this every time, it appears to be when I haven't replied to the previous message (But even then that's not always the case)
Any ideas why this is happening?

  • Curve 9300 3G Sudden rapid battery drain w upgrade to version 6.0 - solution

Issue :  Curve 3G works perfeclty fine running BBOS 5.0 and an upgrade suddenly results in very poor batterylife
Check: use  CPU discovery to see if the required Blackberry Phone application reports signficant CPU use (say 5 hours or more) that is obvioiusly more than what you were actually making calls with on your phone
Solution:  try doing a fresh re-install using using BBDM, or even downgrading one version of version 6.0 (option is available if using BBDM.  (in my case was running 6.0.0.5xx and downgraded to 6.0.0.4xx)
This was an easy fix, given i was highly inclined  to otherwise throw the phone under the bus.
    Caveats:
    -  problem may be carrier specific
    - corrput install of the phone application may repeat itself due to firewall/hardware of your computer
Worked perfect for me and was easy to do, i.e. if you are comfortable enough using BBDM, and have added/removed any applications (or done backups and restores) you should be able to do this by just upgrading or downgrading the BB Version 6 "core applications" as you cannot just select the Phone application as a standalone install
I posted this separate message in the hopes of saving someone else new to this problem reading scores and scores of  threads without anyone CLEARLY pointing the fix.

I noticed the same, the "Phone" app uses a lot of resources causing the battery to drain. I upgraded to 6.0.0.7xx and this seems to have fixed this issue for now.

Where can I buy a new battery for my BB Curve 9300 1256 Europe Qwerty Graphite Grey model RDA71UW?
    Thank you,

    Hello jdias,
the official battery has the reference "BlackBerry C-S2". You can buy it at many shops including Amazon, ShopBlackBerry or the CrackBerry Store.
You can also buy another battery, not from BlackBerry but from manufacturer Seidio, that has more energy in it, you can see it here: http://shop.crackberry.com/blackberry-curve-9300-3g-batteries.htm

I plan to buy a BB Curve 9300 but before I want to be 100% sure that I can configure it to be auto warned if
I get a mail on my gmail account but only via wifi because I have no data plan.
    Thank you for your help;

OK then here is your problems answer
The BB just developed for business men persons and not designed to be the way you want. It is a professional bussiness handset not like any other like Nokia, Sony Ericsion whic is perfect for kids and youngers like you. These sets support to recevie emails without any datapackage but for BB case you cannot.
You must have a dataplant inorder to get email notifications. If you dont believ me the try it by your self concern with the forum call every technical person you know and tell your problem and aks him to on the email notification services with using data plan. If any body does then please let me know.
I hope your problem is solved

  • Curve 9300 Battery Life and CPU Discovery

    Carrier: AT&T
    Model: Curve 9300 3G / Wi-Fi
    OS Version: 6.0 Bundle  2342  v 6.0.0.526 Platform 6.6.0.195
Since downloading 6.0 on 6/21 (two days ago), I have been having NUMEROUS issues with my BB Curve 9300 retaining battery as well as having the timer spin and stick.
I had only been using my phone to text or send emails, and had the wi-fi off, and even changed my screen to 20 backlight with 10 seconds, no vibration, and anything else I have read to see if that helped with battery life.  The battery was draining at lighting speed, and I could not find the reason why.  I think I may have found the culprit.
This morning, I took the battery out for five minutes and let it re-boot.  That seemed to work great most of the day.  Then a couple of hours ago I started to have the same issues again.   I searched around on my phone and was able to find CPU usage, which revealed something very interesting that hopefully someone can explain on here:
I went to Options - Device - Application Management.  Then I scrolled sideways to get to the CPU Usage area.  I let that sit and watched it for a few minutes.  What I found was that my "Phone" app (part of 6.0) was running at a very high CPU on and off when I wasn't even using the phone.  For instance, yesterday, I MAYBE spoke on my phone for 15 minutes total, tops.  The CPU shows that the "Phone" had 5Hr9M of use.   Today, I probably spoke for 30 minutes total.  It shows for today CPU is 7h18m.  How is this possible?  Just on the screen 2 seconds ago, and it went from 0% to 96% CPU usage for the "Phone".  What is doing this?  I believe that this app is draining my battery life.    Anyone else have this issue?  How can this be resolved?  I hate this new 6.0 and hadn't downloaded it for my BB until two days ago, and totally regret it.  Please help if anyone has any ideas here?

I downloaded 6 on my 9300 about 2 weeks ago, have had the same problem with draining battery fast, i hardly ever use my "phone". I use to get atleast 2 days with some left over on a charge, now it hardly last 8 hrs and I have to limit what I'm doing.
I just discovered all that cpu stuff last nite and was looking at it, I will have to see what it says my phone app is doing?
I just on my post yesterday and today got instructions on how to go back to os5, cuz I am completely not happy with 6, I do like the apps and layout of it, but just cant deal with no battery!

  • Data Usage on BB Curve 9300

I have a couple of questions, I recently activated a BB Curve 9300 on a basic talk & text plan (I don't have a data plan at the moment, I do plan on updating my plan in the near future).
I'm within wi-fi range almost 99.99% of the time, so I was wondering:
Can I connect to my home router using Wi-Fi without being charged for data usage?
Can I install apps from BB App World (downloaded from my desktop) onto my device without being charged?
Can I use things such as BBM while connected to Wi-Fi, without a data plan?
    Thanks, I appreciate the help!

That information is, by it's very nature, generic. With hundreds of carriers in the world each with dozens of different data plans, it's impossible to know exactly what your carrier has for you. Consequently, the formal answer can only come from those who handle your account...your carrier. They determine, by virtue of what you subscribe to from them, what services you have and do not have. They set the billing structure. They set your capabilities. So, if you wish for a formal and official answer, the only place to make that inquiry is to your carrier. Hopefully you will find someone there who has adequate knowledge.
    Good luck!

  • CURVE 9300 BROWSER KEEPS CLOSING

Everytime I load my phone browser for any reason whether it to be a link, facebook mobile, or even just a google page, it loads the bar at the bottom about 20% and then the browser closes, it doesn't say anything and will not load, it only loads if i keep doing a battery pull and it works for about 15 minutes before starting to close again.  Anyone know how to fix it? It is rather frustrating when I want to quickly browse the net and I cant.

I think it's fixed now.  Just cleared the history and cookies.

  • Need help with a Blackberry Curve 9300, please...

Hello, everyone, I had a look around the forum and came across a post which offered advice one what to include in questions, so I have tried to include the info below.
    Device info
Your carrier: Unlocked (was using Virgin)
Model info and OS version (Go to Settings, then Options, then about): Blackberry Curve 9300, OS 6
    Apps and free space
File free before and after a battery remove/replace. (Go to Settings, then Options, then status): 60%
Did a battery pull fix your issue? No
Apps installed and their version if possible.   (Go to Settings, then Options, then applications): None, only the ones that come with it after reset to factory
BT device model/version (you will have to look at the BT device): Don't know what this means
    When writing your question
Any other details that would help us out with your issue: This was my teenage brother's phone, which since has been given to me. The phone was severely mistreated; thrown around, stepped on and chewed. The battery had to be replaced as well as the middle chassis and the front and back cases along with the keyboard, bottom clip and screen.
Good description of what is really wrong and how to reproduce if possible. Details of what you did before: I managed to get it working after I had replaced everything listed above, but it will not charge using the cable. I have to keep taking the battery out and plugging it in seperately to charge, then putting back in the phone. This is after replacing the cable as my brother broke that too, so it's not the cable. He's damaged the data/ charge port.
The camera will not work, but at the moment I am not looking for a solution for that. The error is: "Could not start the camera. Close other applications and try opening the camera again". No applications are open and the OS has just been updated to the most recent version. For this reason, I think he's managed to break that too and it would need to be replaced if that's possible.
My issue at the moment... My mother, as you can imagine is furious with him for trashing the phone she bought him at about £250 when it was new a couple of years ago. So, as I have managed to get it to turn on and pick up wi-fi, she has said I can keep it. I am on Virgin Mobile and this phone is unlocked. It will not pick up any network even using my Virgin SIM card which works fine. My brother was also using it on Virgin.
I can use it with wi-fi and have already contacted t-mobile and Virgin Mobile to make there there's no problem with them. There isn't. The number has been put under my ownership and the phone registered to me now. It is not blocked or blacklisted, yet, only comes up with SOS for network.
Because of this, they and the local phone shop think he might have damaged the antenna inside. I am an iPhone user, this is the first time I have used a Blackberry, so I have no idea - can the antenna be repaired by myself?
Or, given that the camera doesn't work either/ needs replacing, would it just be better to get a replacement using my contents insurance? I am unsure which would be cheaper, to get the parts and try and fix it myself, or pay the excess for the insurance.
    Advice appreciated... Thanks in advance.

    Hey MaggzieP,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
This KB article will determine if it is a software or hardware related issue for the camera: www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB15544
Also if you tried more than 1 SIM card in the BlackBerry Curve 9300 smartphone and it still shows SOS, this could be hardware related as well.
For all repairs, I can only suggest checking with the point of sale or network service provider for further options.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.

  • Curve 9300 won't use wifi service

So I am not the first person to have this problem.  I've been trawling the web searching for solutions but no-one seems to have any.
The problem is that my Curve 9300 will not use wifi connection instead of network data services.  I can connect to wifi networks just fine.  The phone searches the networks out, connects, puts the little icon on the home screen to say it's connected to a wifi network.  It lists the name of the network up the top.  Everything's great, except that when you actually go to use the internet, the phone connects to your data services instead of the wifi and you get charged for data consumption.
If you turn off the network services to try and force the phone to connect to the wifi instead, you get the error message:
"You are not currently in an area that can handle data communication.  As a result, the Browser cannot retrieve any web pages.  Please try again when you are in a different location, or contact your service provider if the problem persists."
    To confirm:
    My Data Services are on.
    My APN settings are disabled.
In Advanced Options, my Default Browser Configuration is set to Hotspot browser.
In General Properties the default browser is Hotspot browser.
In Browser Configuration, the browser is set to AT&T Mobile Web.  I have tried to change it to Hotspot Browser but I save the changes and leave the screen, then when I go back in to check, it's back to AT&T again.  It's not saving the changes to make Hotspot the default configuration.
I did a battery pull to see if that would help and after the restart it allowed me to keep Hotspot as the default configuration but it still wouldn't connect if the mobile service was turned off.  It has now reverted itself back to AT&T and still won't work.
I have read the thread on the Bold forum but for all the people complaining of having the same issue, there was still no solution.  I really want a resolution to this because I do a lot of travelling and my sim card can not always connect to a local network.  I want to be able to go to a local coffee shop and be able to connect, even if I don't have phone service in a foreign airport.  I don't understand what the point is in having wifi on a phone if you can't use it.

  • Blackberry curve 9300 manual network selection

when i set my curve 9300 to manual network selection, and i select my networ, if i go in a palce underground or something and i lose the signal, the phone doesn' t pick up the signal automatically when i am back in a coverage area. instead, i find an alert window that says "can't find home network and asks me  to chose whether i waast to: set it to automatic, go into settings, or cancel" and i have to either go in settings and select it again or jsut set it to automatic and it will find it. in other smart phones it usually gives that alert, but as soon as i am back in a coverage area, it picks up the home network  on its own without having to go to settings. so is this the normal behavior?

  • Curve 9300 Doesn't start. Stucks at boot screen

    Hi,
I've got a brand new Curve 9300 less than a week ago. I've updated it's OS to version 6, and it worked perfectly.
When I attempted to configure my email, it automatically asked to update with my carrier's email setup software. I just chose ok. I got three warning messages, which I don't exactly remember but it was about something may not function correctly (regarding to version difference). I just continued installation, and it asked for a reboot.
When I rebooted the mobile, it goot stuck at the boot screen. Then nothing! The thin status bar bellow BlackBerry's logo fills up until it's full, then nothing happens. When I wait for longer time (a few minutes), I get a message on a white screen with a tiny font with "App Error 606", with one option of 'RESET'.
I pulled out the battery and restored it a few times, nothing different.
    Notes:
The LED does not do anything, except for a single red blink when it reboots
The keboard seems to be responsive. I get the Alt and Shift indicators in the top right corner when I press them
The power button doens't seem to cause any response
    I appreciate your help.
Edit: The Desktop Software shows that the device is not connected, even though it's attached to the USB cable.
Edit: The Alt-Shift-Del combination causes the system to go to a blank white screen with that "app error" mentioned above
