Curve 9300 shows switch-off

Hi All,
I have recently brought the Blackberry Curve 9300 and having the connection of Reliance GSM.
I am facing a problem, that sometimes, the phone remains ON and also show the full network but when, the somebody calls it shows him as SWITCH-OFF and not able to contact.
I come to know this from my relatives, when they tried to call me a lot and now I realizes this problem when i try to call someone and the phone shows CALL FAILED. Then, i have to restart the phone evertime and after restarting it works well.
PLEASE PROVIDE ANY SOLUTION WHY IT HAPPENS..because it creates a problem in urgency!!!
Kindly suggest any solutions.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!!
I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB):
1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
2) Resend Service Books
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should contact your wireless service provider for formal support.
Occam's Razor nearly always applies when troubleshooting technology issues!

    My BB Curve 8900 intermittently switches off for no apparant reason. It starts up again with a blank screen, takes about 2/3 minutes & then boots up again. It loses the page it was on.

    I'd look first at putting a piece of paper, like a business card,, or a folded piece of normal paper, on top of the battery, and putting the battery door back on. Try that a few days and see if the spontaneous rebooting continues.

  • Newly bought BB curve 9300 showing 32 MB as internal memory instead of 256 MB

    hello,
    I recently bought a blackberry curve 9300 with 6.0 OS in INDIA.
    it showing only 32 MB of internal memory to be used instead of 256 MB as per its specifications.
    I want to know if there is something i need to do to get complete 256 MB or it's the real internal memory, if so then BB sucks. i cant even download many business related apps necessary for my job.

    1. No, there isn't.
    2. I don't think so, though I'm not 100% certain. I believe the designers assumed that if you have your display open, (a) you want it to operate, and therefore (b) you want it to self-adjust its brightness for ambient light conditions, as it normally does when operating.
    If you don't want the display open, you must operate the machine in clamshell mode, following all the instructions in the article you referenced. It isn't possible to start the machine up from a cold shutdown with its display closed.
    If you don't want to use an external keyboard and mouse, and therefore can't use clamshell mode, you will just have to turn the backlight level down after each time you start the computer. That takes one second to do with the F1 key, so it shouldn't be too much of a bother. You could eliminate it by putting the computer to sleep instead of shutting it down. Each shutdown-and-startup process takes at least a full minute, so skipping it would save you far more time than finding a way to start the machine up with its display off. The machine also wakes from sleep far faster than it starts up from shutdown, and it remembers its display brightness setting when doing so.

    i fixed it at a shop bur when i removed my battery again to put sim in i could not switch it back on help please

    Since your BlackBerry® smartphone is unable to power on, the BlackBerry® Desktop Software will be unable to connect with your BlackBerry® smartphone. I would advise trying to force a connection by starting a BlackBerry® Device Software reload without your battery inserted. For further steps, please see the following KB articles:

  • BB Curve 9300 showing my contacts as unknown

    Hi,
    I just got this BB and it looks like I'm not the only one that has had this problem but so far I haven't found a solution.
    On a regular cell I could add contacts to my phonebook and whenever those contacts called their name would show on the display.
    Now when I add contacts to my phonebook and my contacts call me, they are displayed as unknown number.
    Ive seen a few solutions but it doesnt work or wont apply to my version of BB. one was to go to smart dialing. I did. Im from Canada so its a +1 and with my area code its 10 numbers. I have set it to that.
    The second solution someone told me was to go to security option -> general settings. When I go to security options all i have is advanced security options, encryption, firewall, information and security wipe. I tried enabling my encryption and set include contacts to both yes and no. Both times same problem. I use Rogers and Ive used them with my previous cell (not a smartphone) and ive been able to see my contact names when they call, so I have no idea why this isnt working and its a pain in the **bleep** to pick up your phone not knowing whos calling you, whether friend or telemarketer.
    Anyone have any ideas?

  • Random Power Switch-Off (Disconnect?) on HomeHub o...

    Following useful discussions directly with the Forum Moderation team in October on a sequence of progressively slowing download speeds my Voyager 210 was replaced with a BT HomeHub (HH) Type B (software ver. 4.7.5.1.83.3.5. and Gigaset (now Sagem Communications) manufacturer  - see <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BT_Home_Hub >
    The HH download speed of 10,040kbps initially on 25 Oct and 10,416 kbps on 29 Oct was satisfying.   I have been switching the router off at night and on in the morning, or if the house is left empty to reduce the fire risk and power consumption.  It may be noted the HH power consumption of 10W uses up 1 unit every four days. ( A neighbour does the same on his HH Type A and was getting over 10,000 kbps)
    However, for some reason from around the end of November the speed has dropped, typically:-
    27 Nov    9728 kbps    0 day; 00:00:47
    4 Dec    6656           0 day, 02:00:27
    9 Dec     6656        0 day, 00:43:13
    11 Dec     6656        2 day, 07:39:12

    Noting the drop at the end of November  I decided on 2 December  to leave the router powered on (accepting the compromise risk above) to try and ensure the line speed stabilises via the connection to the DSLAM (Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer)circuit in the exchange.
    A couple of times I had noticed the yellow power on LED was showing when I went to use the computer (the computer is switched off when not in use).  In particular on 19 Dec when I noticed it, after getting up, and similarly also on the 20th.   I then realised that the odd connection times shown on the ADSL Settings print-out, which I had made, were showing switched-off interrupts (see extract above).   I think these are broad-band interrupts rather than actual power switch-offs as the mains power was continuously on?
    My query is what has been happening since I have left the router continuously powered on?   Have BT being "doing things" at the Crowthorne exchange on the DSLAM  boards -  see  <http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/equip.htm  &   http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/linestats.htm >.   I don't think there has been any attempt to download new software to the router as the unit still shows the same version number.

    The 27 Nov. Noise figures coincide with the high 9728 kbps figure, but on the other hand the 25 Oct. noise figures correspond to the initial 10,040 kbps - why?   What does the anomalous Up Noise Margin 30.5 dB figure suggest - the line has suddenly become very quiet?

    Here are the ADSL Settings (I inadvertently reset the router in copying the data whcih is why the connection time has reset to near zero!).
    The BT speedtester states I haven't installed Java applets into my Firefox ver 3.6.12  browser, so here are the results from another site which I have been using for some time

    this gives 4860 kbps down;   620kbps up  and a ping of 27msec to the Maidenhead server.
    I am not connected to the master socket, which is the original one from some years back and is the one I have been using on broadband for some years.   The extension lead goes upstairs to another phone socket and BT ADSL filter.
    No, I haven't reset the router, the power has been on continuously since 2nd Dec.   Switching off the computer does not affect the router power.    I inadvertently caused a broadband disconnect just now in getting the data below.

I had to take it to apple care centre but they refused to repair it after confirming the problem with the device as it was out of warranty and asked me to get it replaced for INR 22500. I got it repaired outside but after that also if I switch it off in the same situation it again happens and I have to take it for repair it has happened 3 times after that. Is it a inherent problem in iPhone that it uses battery even when switched off and if in that case battery drain out then refuse to get charged because this is the scenario i have experienced every time?

    Apple told you it was unrepairable.... You had it serviced by an unauthorized party. It's now no longer eligible for out of warranty replacement by Apple.
    There's really nothing else we can say about it. Find a competent 3rd party repair shop or buy a new one.

  • IPod Nano (4th Generation) switches on when connected to USB power - shows Menu & hangs (unresponsive to click wheel) - deems off after 5-sec - Switches off after disconnecting from USB Power - syncs with iTunes - Tried 5R's - Problem still persists

    1. The iPod Nano (4th Generation - 8GB) switches on, only when connected to USB power by showing apple logo and displays Menu options thereafter..
    2. However, I can not access Menu as it is unresponsive to click wheel. As a result it is inaccessible to any further use, 
    3. NOTE: it displays "Battery Fully charged" icon on the screen without any "Lock" icon.
    4. After  5-sec to 10-secs the screen deems off.. i.e. goes to sleep mode.. And thereafter would probably remain like that (sleeeping) for eternity!!!!
    5. It Switches off after WITHOUT DISPLAYING any Apple Logo immediately after disconnecting from USB Power.
    6. In other words, it can be switched on only through USB power in spite of battery being fully charged.
    7. Interestingly, it syncs with iTunes. It is recognised in iTunes (Latest version 11+).. Displays on screen all commands Like.. syncronising, connecting, connected,
    8. Allows to add Music, videos like a normal ipod & displays all status information in iTunes.
    9. Read Trobleshooting & Tried all 5R's. Registered, Resetted, updated & Restored to iOS 1.0.2
    10. It is now displaying to select Language in place of Menu options, with no access through click wheel, centre button whatsoever... Problem still persists
    KINDLY GUIDE ME THE SOLUTION. APPRECIATE YOUR RESPONSE in advance...

    Since you have already tried all the normal troubleshooting solutions, take the iPod to your nearest Apple Store for a *proper diagnosis.* The staff there will be able to confirm if your problem is software or hardware _*at no cost to you.*_

    I bought a new Verizon 8830 World Edition unlocked from ebay. I confirmed that its unlocked from MEPD command (although it says Network: ''Inactive'' instead of 'disabled').
    I tried using various GSM network SIMs (India) in it and everytime, it shows an active tower and full signal levels and displays the name of the network correctly. It looks as if its connected to the GSM service at full signal.
    However, placing calls fail and any call made to the number gives a 'Switched Off' message. 
    I am totally flummoxed and don't know what to do.
    I have tried: Battery pull & Wipe out. 
    About: v4.5.0.186 (Platform 3.4.0.59)
    I would be very very very thankful for any pointers. Please help me!

    The Connections are ON, the Network Selection is Automatic and the Mode is GSM
    The Connection is showing 'Connected', with Antenna and Full Signals, with the Name of the Network too.
    I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting, pulling the battery many times. However, calls are not successful and the number remains 'switched off'.

    this is coincidently after an ios update for iphone which i did just approx two days earlier which was suppused to fix battery issues?
    also battery shows 100 percent full but as i explained if disconected from socket it switches off altogether.

    Hopefully and most likely faulty battery. If you have Warranty or AppleCare, make Genius reservation and take to Apple for resolution.

    If all you get is the Apple logo and it powering off, then the next step is to put your iPhone into recovery mode and then use iTunes to restore it. If you have a back up, then you can put that on there to once the restore is complete.

    These are usually the features of a faulty battery. Restore iPhone Firmware with iTunes 10.7 or 11 on computer. See if better. If not, and there is Warranty or AppleCare make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple for resolution. If no Coverage, still make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple Store for free quick (minutes time) battery diagnostic testing.
