Curves Not Working in CS4

I have installed CS5 but still work in CS4, too, because Adobe hasn't developed the CS5 plug-in that I use for my printer.
Since I've installed CS5, I cannot get the Curves function to work in CS4.
When I add a Curve layer, the layer appears, but the Adjustment window doesn't open. When I select the Adjustment
layer in the menu, a blue line temporarily glows around my Layers window, but it never opens.
Any clues?

The old modal Curves dialog box has been eliminated in CS4.
There was an optional Curves Dialog you could add to get the old modal Curves dialog. I don't know if it's still being offered:

Script that worked in CS does not work in CS4 - multiple open page, print , pdf export and close

I had a script that worked great for me in Indesign CS. But now does not work in CS4. Anyone knows what needs to be done to make it work again ?
When I drop folder with indesign files on top of this script:
1. opens first page
2. turns specific layer on

(Disclaimer: me not an AS guy!)
First thing I noticed is the interaction level is set off. If you comment out this line
set user interaction level to never interact
you might be able to pinpoint the exact error -- ID will display a standard "failed" dialog, hopefully showing the line that it fails on.
A quick question: the script assumes two presets in your InDesign: one for print ("letter size") and one for PDFs ("pdf preset name"):

Do these actually exist in your CS4, with the same (non)capitalization and spaces?

CreateStrokeWeightCommand of IGraphicAttributeUtils works only when if the frame has some stroke weight already applied to it.
So do i need to set something else before using CreateStrokeWeightCommand to make it work programatically on a frame with no stroke weight.

Searching has changed between CS2 and CS4.

My Open GL is not working in CS4 Windows 7

I recently got a new computer and loaded my Photoshop CS4 on to it and the features of Open GL such as holding down the z key and using the scroll on the mouse to zoom in and out and also the left and right bracket key inceasing or decreasing the size of the brush do not work. The new computer is using Windows 7 64 bit and has an AMD quad core with 8 Gb RAM. I checked to make sure that Open GL is selected in the Edit>Preference>Performance where it also tells me that the graphics card does support accelerated graphics for Open GL.
Does anybody have any other ideas on what I can do to get this to work?

What version of driver are you running?
If it's Catalyst 12.4, I suggest you try downloading specifically Catalyst 12.2, uninstalling Catalyst 12.4, then installing 12.2 and testing again.
I don't have exactly the same card you do (mine's a 5760) but I've had 12.2 in for a while and that versoin works very well with Photoshop.

Matrox Media Encoder not working in CS4

Good day,
I have just purchased a used RTX2/ CS4 bundle which includes the card and breakout box.
I am currently using RTX2/CS3 which I bought way back in 2008 and is still working on my PC with Windows XP Professional (32bit) running Service Pack 3.
The existing PC was built according to Matrox System requirements:
Intel(R) Core™2 Quad CPU@240GHz with 4GB RAM etc
So all the hardware on the machine is working with RTX2/CS3 without any problems.
I have installed CS4/RTX2 on the same machine and everything shows that it has installed correctly.
In device manager the card and drivers can be seen.
When opening Premiere CS4 the Matrox logo dispays and all the effects and presets can be accessed. The tune does not play when the logo is displayed.
The only problem is that when trying to export a sequence the Matrox Media Encoder option is not available.
When selecting File > Export > the only options available are:
Media
Adobe Clip Notes
Export to EDL
Export to OMF
There seems to be a missing link to activate the Matrox Media Encoder option.
Please help as I paid a lot of money for this hardware/software bundle which does not work.

My RTX2/CS3 software is registered with Adobe as well as Matrox and I will do the same with RTX2/CS4 as soon as I can get them to work.

CS3 Extension that initializes a JS-Object during startup is not working in CS4

Here is a simple Extension that works fine in DW CS3 and doesn't work in DW CS4 (trial version):
The File myObj_Startup.htm was placed in Folder Configuration/Startup. It initializes a quite simple Javascript-Object during Startup of DW.
Content of myObj_Startup.html:

Instead I get a Logfile "C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS4\en_US\Configuration\Logs\DW JavaScript.log" telling me:

Did they change the treatment of JS-objects initialized during startup?

Are such extensions not working in trial versions of DW CS4?

I have an similar problem and couldnt find an workaround for the problem.
When i add an new menu item to the menus.xml file, the menu item shows up, but my custom command (simple alert) wont trigger.
Can somebody please help?

Photo Merge not working in CS4

I use Lightroom 2.3 on a MacBook Pro. When I go to "edit in" and choose "merge to panorama in photoshop", photoshop opens and the "photomerge window" comes up. I select auto merge for the 3 selected photos and click ok. Then, nothing happens. No new file is created and no activity takes place. I used to do this from Lightroom to Photoshop CS3 and it worked fine. Since installing Photoshop CS4, it does not work.
My Photoshop CS 4 performance settings are: memory 90% (or 2764 meg) and two scratch disks - the macintosh hd (89 g) and external drive (450 g). Open gl is not enabled.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

That means you probably have 3GB of RAM installed. A 90% memory allowance to Photoshopunder these circumstances is clearly excessive. Try reducing it to 70% or less.

Make sure the EXTERNAL drive is designated as the PRIMARY scratch disk drive. You don't have much left on your boot volume; how large is it in total? Once a drive, any drive, gets to be 70% or so full, you're courting trouble.

OpenGL Enabled, but not working (Photoshop CS4)

I have having a weird problem with Photoshop CS4. First of all, let me give off the specs.
OS: Windows 7 64 bit
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 7570 (Driver Version 8.960.11.1000, with latest Catalyst Control Center)
I use Photoshop CS4 for freelance work, and one of the tools I like to use is the Rotate tool. When I first got my desktop and installed Photoshop, everything worked fine. However, recently I was forced to perform and factory restore on my desktop thanks to a virus.
Today I started working on something and when I tried using the Rotate tool, it was not working (I go that error window saying it wasn't enabled). I checked the OpenGL settings to see it was enabled. Confused, I restarted Photoshop and tried again with no luck.
This turned into a search around the internet to see just what is going on, but the only thing I could find was suggesting updating drivers for my graphics card and Adobe, which I have tried with no success. I have found out that some people were having the same trouble as me, but what makes my case odd is that it was working fine before the factory restore.
Any help would be great.

Because of ATI's plethora of version information I'm not really sure what Catalyst release your 8.960.11.1000 driver comes from, but I do know that Catalyst 12.4 has some problems working with later versions of Photoshop. Perhaps Photoshop CS4 isn't too happy with it either.
The most recent Catalyst release that was known to be good with Photoshop was 12.2 (though it shows up as 12.3 in the status display). It can be found here:

Downgrading drivers is a bit more tricky than upgrading them - you have to fully remove the current ones first, then install the older set.

Custom XMP Panels not working in CS4

I'm trying to develop my first Flex based XMP Panel for CS4. I'm on Windows Vista.
I downloaded the SDK (4.4.2) and created a panel, it compiles and previews fine with Flex Builder 3.
If I add the panel to CS4 (manually or through Flex Builder 3) then the Panel just shows up blank in the PhotoShop FileInfo window. Many of the other panels also appear blank until I remove the panel.
I tried copying the sample panels that came with the SDK and they all show up as blank and most of the other default panels are blank too. Basically, any custom panels cause the FileInfo dialog to stop working properly.
What am I doing wrong?

usually we recommend to install custom panels into the "user" location at:
WINDOWS XP: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Adobe\XMP\Custom File Info Panels\2.0\panels\
WINDOWS VISTA: C\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\XMP\Custom File Info Panels\2.0\panels\
MAC OS: /user/username/Application Data/Adobe/XMP/Custom File Info Panels/2.0/panels/
The reason why your panels did not work properly was a missing Flash trust file for that user location. Without such a trust file the embedded flash player refuses to "play" your custom panel.
Please see section "Trust files for custom panels" in the XMPFileInfo SDK Programmer's Guide on page 50 for all details on how to create such trust files.

16 bits not working in CS4 - 8 bits is OK

I have 3 ways that Photoshop CS4 is not working in 16 bit mode.
1. If I attempt to use Image->Mode to change an 8 bit image to a 16 bit image Photoshop crashes.
2. If I open a raw file using Camera Raw, and then click the open image button in Camera Raw, the image opens in Photoshop if I have Camera Raw in 8 bit mode, but Photoshop crashes if I have Camera Raw in 16 bit mode.
3. An export from Lightroom 2.2 (using command-E in Lightroom) now crashes Photoshop.
I'm sure the problem is with Photoshop, not the files because the problem manifests itself with raw files from at least 3 different cameras.
I'm running on Mac OS-X 1.4.11 with 4G of RAM.
Any ideas why the 16 bit mode would stop working?

Profiles is the first place I would look. Move all unnecessary profiles to an unusable location and then see what happens. If that allows 16-bit image to open then you can put them a few at a time and see if you can find the corrupt one. Don't rule out the monitor profile.
If it is not any profiles, then move PS preference files out of the user preference folder. You may have already done this.
If none of this works then create a new user and see what happen when running from that account.

Adjustment layers not working in CS4

I just installed Photoshop CS4 and I can create an adjustment layer, but the editing box for that particular adjustment layer does not come up. It works just fine in CS3 on the same computer. I have a G5 (non Intel). Any ideas why this is not working?

Look at the Adjustments Panel.. new in CS4. Window > Adjustments
There are no dialog boxes anymore.

Lorem and more not working in CS4

whats the deal? It worked fine in CS3. I purchased a suite for CS4, so I did the CS3 clean procedure, installed the suite and then installed Lorem and More thru CS4 ext manager. it will work once if I select any option other than lorem ipsum text and select continuos with no character amount. It will not work again until DW is restarted, then only once. Other wise it will pop up and let you make your choices then do nothing when you hit ok. I emailed the support address on the authors site, and got a response of "it works on m y machine with cs4, cant help you". Anyone else experience this? How did you resolve it? I use this extension a LOT and would hate to be without it.

Tryed it out for you but works fine on my cs4 as well. You see this more often with extensions that copy files into the sites root folder and are only willing to do that once until restarted. I can't imagine why it's not working, sorry. I tryed to repackage the extension under a different name, no clue to wheater it helps though (see attachment).

Flash button link will not work in CS4

Can anyone walk me through step by step to get a flash button link to work in CS4? I tries action scripts 2 and 3... I cut and pasted a bunch of code on line, watched tutorials, and no matter what i do, the link won't work in CS4. The button looks and works fine, but won't go to the web site ot web page after clicking on it.
At this point, I am so confused, i think it would be better if someone walked me through step by step. My email is [email protected] I can email the button is that would help. Thanks.
