Curvy arrow 'replied' disappearing in mailboxes under IMAP gmail

I am using Apple Mail 4.4 on OS 10.6.6 as a client to access my google account through IMAP. I have set up several mailboxes (they appear online as labels) to organize my incoming emails. They appear in Apple Mail as folders under the GMAIL heading that has a black-and-silver sphere as its icon when you set them up.
In my Apple Mail inbox, emails to which I have replied are marked with the curvy arrow under the status column; the curvy arrow can be clicked to bring up my reply. When I drag messages into the other mailbox folders, the curvy arrow mark disappears. (Online, I am still able to see the whole thread of responses in gmail.)
How do I avoid losing this useful curvy arrow mark? Without it it is difficult to tell which emails I have responded to.
Thanks!

Did you end up solving this problem? I have the same issue.

  • Email reply/forward status update via IMAP

    Hi,
    I'm moving in from iOS, would like to check is there any settings to configure when reply/forward email from the BB z10 (Software Released 10.2.1.537), send an update status to reflect on the mail server where that particular has been forwarded/replied. My mailbox is configured with IMAP protocols, and usually I will review my mail thru the web browser. The same action perfoemed on my iOS device will update the mail server whether the mail has been replied/forwarded.
    Thanks for advise and sharing.

    I had the same after downloading iOS 6 on my 3gs.  Try resetting your phone by simultaneously pushing the home and power button until the apple logo comes back.  Let it cook and reopen email.

  • Mail app and GroupWise mailbox via IMAP

    I am using the Mail app to access my GroupWise mailbox via IMAP. I am experiencing the "neverending cache update" problems that others have reported in this forum, without any relief (shy of killing activities that appear to have stalled).
    That aside, I have a question. The folder that stores mail message that I have sent in GroupWise is "Sent Items". The Mail app has gone ahead and created a "Sent Messages" folder in my mailbox for the same purpose. While this is somewhat of an inconvenience, the greater problem is that messages that I send via the Mail app are not recognized by GroupWise as "sent messages" by nature of not appearing in the "Sent Items" folder, which causes, among other things, filters to return incorrect results.
    So... is there a way to control what folder the Mail app uses for sent messages on an IMAP mailbox, such as my GroupWise mailbox? (Other mail clients, such as Thunderbird, handle this situation well.)
    Thanks.
    - GC

    Thank you... I suppose I should have said it didn't "seem" as flexible.
    So, that is an improvement... now sent messages appear in the "Sent Items" folder as desired, rather than the "Sent Messages" that the Mail app created. One thing that I noticed now is that the message in "Sent Items" appears like it were a message stored in that folder, rather than one originating for the mailbox. Let me explain... messages sent from a native GroupWise client have attributes such as # recipients, # opened, # deleted, # accepted, #accepted, replied#, etc. None of these attributes appear for Mail app-originating messages. Is this a limitation or is there more magic to be aware of?
    Thanks,

  • After upgrading to OS Mountain Lion My separate mailboxes under GMail no longer show up on the screen. I couldn't add another mailbox of the same name "because it already exists". How can I make it show up on the left of the screen under GMail?

    After upgrading to OS Mountain Lion my separate mailboxes under Gmail no longer appear on the screen. How can I view them? They are still there because I tried to set up another mailbox with the same name & couldn't "because it already exists".

    Move your cursor down slowly to the right of the Gmail Mailbox and it should say show or hide.

  • My Layer Dropdown Arrows Have Disappeared?!

    So I'm not sure if this has been brought up before on these forums but didn't see anything when googling the question.
    For some reason my Illustrator CS6 Layer arrows have disappeared.  Not allowing me to drop down all the objects within a layer to unlock certain objects within that layer.  Not sure if I'm explaining this very well but if you view the two images of my screen, you'll see that I'm only have this problem with one file.  The other is fine (as well as all my other files) and gives me my drop down arrows allowing me to go in and select or unlock individual objects within that layer.  Please does anyone know why this is doing this?  I need to finish this project by the end of the week but I can't finish it if I can't edit multiple objects within layers.  Could it possibly be a bug?  I don't think so. I may just have disabled it accidentally somehow.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Go to the Layers Panel menu > Panel Options and see if the Show Layers Only option is enabled. If so, disable it.
    It is a document specific setting.

  • Trouble reading/accessing a shared mailbox (via imap)

    I am having troubles accessing/reading a shared mailbox using IMAP.
    I have no problems accessing my own mailbox, but my account has a shared mailbox that I want to parse through, using javamail, in order to perform activities based on what emails arrive.
    Am I attempting the impossible?

    Yes, I think you are. You're attempting to get help without providing any of the information that would be necessary for someone to help you.Understood. (and agreed)
    What server are you using?MS Exchange 2007
    How are you accessing the shared mailbox?I don't know how to access it, that's kinda the question. When I open ms outlook I see my own private mailbox with folders (that I can access via javamail no problems) and I also see a shared mailbox at the bottom of the list, lets call it Mailbox Otherstuff. This is the mailbox that I want my app to access and read.
    Here's a sample of some code that I've used to successfully access my own private mailbox...
    session = Session.getDefaultInstance(System.getProperties(), null);
    session.setDebug(true);
    store = (IMAPStore) session.getStore("imap");
    store.connect(mailserver, username, password);
    Folder publicFolder = store.getFolder("/");
    Folder[] folders = publicFolder.list("*");
    How does it fail? What does the protocol trace show?There is no failure per-se, I just don't know what code I need to add/change/modify so that my app can access a shared mailbox instead of my own private mailbox (which is the default?)

  • How can we set Admin rights to access all user mailboxes in IMAP server exchange 2010?

    Hi,
    IMAP is in exchange 2010..
    as per guide:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj200730%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx
    CSV Files for IMAP Migration Batches`
    Use super-user or administrator credentials.   This requires that you use an account in your IMAP messaging system that has the necessary rights to access all user mailboxes.
    In the CSV file, you use the credentials for this account for each row. To learn whether your IMAP server supports this approach and how to enable it, see the documentation for your IMAP server.
    How can we set Admin rights to access all user mailboxes in IMAP server exchange 2010?
    thanks?

    Hi,
    Do you mean assigning a user full access permission to all other mailboxes? If so, we can try the following command:
    Get-Mailbox -Server “Exchange 2010” | Add-MailboxPermission -User AdminUserName -AccessRights FullAccess
    Thanks,

  • TS3899 Saved messages disappear from mailboxes after 'update'.

    Saved messages often disappear from mailboxes after an automatic 'update'. Why does that occur? If it's normal, how long are messages retained in a mailbox? Thanks

    Hi Milli,
    I think the problem is that Mail tries to download them in order & if it runs into one it can't it just stops, happens when a bad/malformed email is in the chain too.
    I think this may have cleared your problem though...
    Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
    Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.
    Move this Folder to the Desktop...

  • Mail.app + IMAP Gmail

    HI all,
    I need some help.
    I use Gmail exclusively for my e-mail, I have two separate accounts (campus + personal) that I am using w/ Mail.app. One account is a Gmail EDU (Google Apps) account, and the other is a regular Gmail account.
    Here's my issue...
    I've set up both Gmail accounts as IMAP accounts, however, I've noticed that Mail.app will automatically put a check in the box "Save Sent Mail on Server" despite unchecking this box. According to Google, "Save Sent Mail on Server" should be unchecked. (see link below).
    *http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=78892*
    I'll uncheck the box, however, later on after I've sent mail from the Gmail account, I'll see an _[IMAP]/Sent Messages_ folder in my Gmail account. I'll delete the label, go back into Mail.app, and sure enough "Save Sent Mail on Server" is checked!
    I've deleted both ~/Library/name/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist and _~/Library/name/Application Support/Mail/._ << Doesn't matter, it still will keep checking that box.
    I've tested this on two, separate Macs (my MBP and iMac) and the issue persists on both machines, so I'm guessing it's a bug. The funny part is my EDU account (which is also a Google Gmail account, but .EDU) does not do this--only the Gmail account.
    Thoughts?

    This might be a solution for you to accomplish that.
    SOLUTION 1:
    Create a rule in Mail as follows:
    "TO" > "Contains" > "email address for that account"
    Action:
    "Mark Message as Read"
    All you messages will be marked as read and won't appear in the message count, but you won't know what's new when you look at that account.
    or
    SOLUTION 2:
    I tested this using the Important Label in gmail, but should also would work if you create a new label in gmail.
    Create a label (Example: Inbox 2) in gmail. Choose to show in IMAP, but leave it under the IMAP folder in Mail. Create a rule in Mail:
    "TO" > "Contains" > "email address for that account"
    Action:
    "Move Message "  to mailbox  "select the mailbox you created under the gmail folder"
    Now, every message going to that account will now be moved to the mailbox you created under the gmail folder, so it won't appear under the main inbox. You can still access and control those messages under the gmail folder.

  • IMAP-GMAIL still not working

    Well, I really would like to use Apple-Mail and it (imap-gmail) just doesn't work. Whatever I do; I have deleted and created gmail-imap over and over again,as the gmailhelp tells me, but all my labels are NOT visible in Mail. They're just not there. Same for 'drafts', 'sent' etc. In my labels I have
    like 200 organized emails all together and in my inbox/incoming mail about 7.
    Those seven is all I see in Apple Mail. The GMAIL on the left sidebar is gray
    and there are no maps. The mailactivity though, is active; I see when
    creating imap-account again, the 200 mails coming in, but I don't know where!
    They are not visible! Now what??

    Hi Ephra,
    GMail's IMAP is working for me; it's one of the reasons I finally switched over from Entourage. I have 12 email accounts, and I've got them all forwarding to one GMail account. That one GMail account is now the only account I have set up in Mail. I have it set so that all incoming emails come into my Mailbox Inbox. I also have 62 folders, subfolders, and sub-subfolders (aka 'labels' in Gmail) set up under the [GMail] folder. I set them up via Mail (not via Gmail.com) by clicking on that lower left corner + sign and selected "New Mailbox." Initially, I was told that GMail wouldn't take subfolders, but they work just fine. It does take some sections for them to appear, because it needs to map them to GMail's server, but eventually they show up.
    Also: moving all the mail in my local folders to these new GMail folders/Labels took some time. Like you, I have 1,000s of emails in these 62 folders and it took awhile to upload them (I'm talking hours). And often GMail's server would "time out" and only 1/3 of the emails of a folder would copy up/over. But I just kept dragging and dropping and eventually all the emails are now in my GMail server account.
    I'm probably not using the right language to describe all this, but it's now all working. And man, I don't know how GMail does it, but their spam filter is simply amazing. I also use SpamSieve, but it doesn't have much of a job any more.
