Custer dependency in Domain

Hi,
I have come across a confusing question
One of our customer environment is having only one Windows 2008 Domain Controller in entrire FOrest and Domain. We know that its design problem which need to be corrected on priority. But i got struct in answering some of the questions as
1) If i am running Windows 2008 Failover Cluster for SQL DB, what is the level of dependency on my Domain/Domain Controller.
2) If Single Domain Controller which is there in environment is failed due to hardware or OS problem then Failover Cluster Server will get impacted immediately or it will run some time? If it run some time and fail later then what is the stage it will get
failed actually.
Pls suggest if you know any of these points, its good discussion point as well.
Regards:Mahesh

Windows cluster can only be created/configured in an AD domain environment.
As a best practice, you need to have more than one DC.  Otherwise this will be your single point of failure

  • BPC Client Tools Dependency on Domain

    Hello Experts,
We are currently evaluating a BPC solution for a client, where the client's requirement is such that some of the users of the BPC system might not have a domain login ID, or they might not at all login to the domain where the .NET server is installed. In such a scenario, is it possible for the users to access the BPC system??
    Thanks and Sincere Regards,
    Amitabha

    Yes,
just in case if you create for these users local users into .Net server.
    Otherwise is not possible.
In 7.5 we will be able to use CMS from BO which means we wil be able to use any kind of LDAP users not just users from MS active directory.

  • MDS Filter entity based on attribute from another domain

    Hi,
I hope you could provide me with a solution to my problem. I have an entity (A), in which I use domain based attribute. The second entity (B) has several attributes. My problem is that, I would like to filter the first entity (A) based on an attribute that
belongs to the second entity. The only way I can filter it (in MDS Excel add-in or Explorer) is by using Code or Name from the second entity.
I have in mind a couple of solutions, but they require some coding with xml saved query from Excel.
Is there out of a box solution that comes with MDS?

    Hi,
There is no out of box solution for the scenario you described. The MDS filtering is on single entity and to be precisely, the filtering to a select statement on view viw_SYSTEM_x_y_CHILDATTRIBUTES.
So filter would only work on Name and Code attribute.
One possible solution is create a business rule dependent on Domain attribute and copy the other DBA attribute value to current entity.
    For example,
Entity A, Attribute A1 refer Entity B, And Entity B has Attribute B1.
Then you can create attribute A2 on Entity A1 and setup a business rule to copy B.B1 to A.A2 when A.A1 changed.
And can you show how dynamic xml query looks like?

  • Issue when creating a new email account on Adobe BC

    Hi,
I got a big issue when I tried to create a new email account for my site, which is a very email account to me, and I had been using that email address for over 10 years.
Here is the issue, When I created this email account, Adobe BC keep telling me that account has been created (please see the screen shots below), but I did not see this email account on the BC's backend email account list at all. I tried to create that email for over dozen times, it just won't work!
Please anyone who can help me on this, or anyone from Adobe BC tech support team, please contact with me. Becasue I having hard time finding your tech support telephone numeber.
    Thank You.

    Hello designonly.
You are saying that you have been using that email address for over 10 years. So you are trying to make an address which already somewhere exists?
That brings me to another thing - is the DNS setup made well? In order to make email address work, you should edit the A-Name & NS. Sometime even more settings (depend on domain registrar).
designonly, is this your first email setup?

  • Data "smushing" with 10g Spatial

Are there any functions or methods for merging properties of RDF nodes that have distinct RDF ID's but actually represent the same entity?
With other tools that provide OWL support, for example, one can define a rule that will check for specific unique properties of a node and assign owl:sameAs property to two nodes that match. This partially gets us there by at least labeling nodes that are equivilent. However, one is left to provide code that "smushes" or aggregates the properties of these two nodes and removes the redundant node.
So, my question is: Does Oracle Spatial 10g provide some way to merge node that represent the same entity, either by attaching a preprocessing method to the data import step or on-the-fly in queries?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Yes, that helps. I think I am understanding you right that the cross-referenced identifier is something that comes from the application, and that the RDF store itself does not have to determine that two entities are the same by comparing other properties of the entities (because the comparison might depend on domain knowledge).
First, OWL support is planned in a future release (see Oracle 11g and changes in RDF support? With that support, the identitical entities might not be automatically identified on load, but an additional step could, through some application code, identify entities which have the same cross-referenced identifier, and add a new owl:sameAs link between the two entities.
In 10gR2 the same thing is possible by adding a user-defined property, say :identicalTo. Then define user-defined rules to relate the two entities - example:
    if A :identitcalTo B, and A rdfs:subClassOf X
    then
    B is rdfs:subClassOf X
An inferencing step would create these relations.
However in both approaches (OWL or user-defined rules), that final magic of presenting both nodes as identical is not there - the query in application code will have to specify that - "find entities that are owl:sameAs to a given entity, or :identicalTo a given entity".

  • Export pricing

    Hi,
Can anybody pls suggests me which conditions should we have to take in pricing procedure for Export.
What are special settings we have to do for export other than normal pricing procedure?

    Dear Rahul
Following are the conditions which you need to assign in your export pricing procedure
    PR00
    UTXJ     100%
    JMOD     16% BED
    JEX2     100% of BED
    JECS     2% Cess
    JECX     100% of JECS
    JA1X     1% SCess
    JA1Y     100% of JA1X
The above conditions may be maintained as "Statistical".  Also in VK11, UTXJ can be maintained for the combination of Country/Country/Tax Class.Mtrl/Tax Class.Cust
Depending upon the process, we may have to have some additional conditions in exports like discount, tool cost amortization etc., and all those needs to be considered before condition type JMOD

  • BWSP Inbox Approval requires additional sign-on

    Hello,
We are currently on EP 6.0 with WebAS 6.20 and seperate ITS instance.
We are implementing leave requests using WS04200009 and the approvals will be done through the ESS inbox, BWSP. We currently use SSO, so no logon is required by the user to access the inbox ( BWSP ); however, when the user clicks on the EXECUTE button to approve or reject a leave request, the portal and ITS requires the user to sign-on to the system.
We are stuck. I believe it to be a cookie issue from ITS that overwrites the portals SSO cookie, but can not prove it or find the settings within ITS to check the theory.
Has anyone else run into this issue and come up with a solution? If you have, then you will be a hero.
    Thank you.
    Nick

    Hi,
ITS SSO cookie is depends on domain (FQDN), so please check the ITS properties of system if it has defined with FQDN. also you've to access portal with the same FQDN.
    portal url: http://<portalhostname>.<domain>:<port>/...

  • UCS Central: How Global Service Profile match DG

    Hi
I'm pretty new to UCS Central and I've got a rudimentary UCS Central question.
I wonder how Global Service Profiles match/relate to domain groups.
To what I've read so far we use different domain groups to apply different operational policies to differenent UCS systems.
How does this relate/interact with global service profiles?
Is there a way to make sure that some service profiles could be associated just to UCS servers belonging to one DG?
Or is everything which is related to global service profiles like MAC-adresses, policies and the service profiles themselves always at the root and therefore can always be applied to all UCS servers managed within one UCS Central installation?
    best regards
    Dani

    Hi Dani,
Global Service Profiles fall under the Organization structure.     And the Organization structure/hierarchy has no relationship/dependency to Domain Groups.
So limitting visibility of Global Service Profiles/Templates to certain Domain Groups --- no, you'd have to limit them within an Organizational context.
    Hope this helps,

  • Determining password expiry using java + ADLDS

If authentication fails, I have to determine that password has expired.
I can not use 'pwdLastSet' attribute because password policy depends on domain server.
I have to check the attribute 'msDS-UserPasswordExpired' whether it is true or false.
But I am not able to do it since it is constructed attribute.
I have seen it is done in .NET using 'RefreshCache' method.
How it can be done in Java?

  • Managing service profiles and servers through UCS Central

    Hello,
I am designing a workflow for automating server installations through PXE boot with global service profiles.
it creates a (global) SP and assigns a server for it, but then changing boot policy for the SP does not work, I assume because the SP is created from a template. Also Director seems to miss the required tasks to boot the SP/server through Central, and server assign return ucs server identity as empty so the UCS tasks do not work either.
Any suggestions how this can be done besides using local SPs in manager?

  • UCS Central - Making Boot Policy - SAN boot target Provisioning

    Gents
Some objects is always related to the domains and need to be provisioned in global like
VLANs: but we can did it by Provisioning VLANs with UCS Central Using VLAN ID Aliasing.
VSANs: the same idea in VLAN ID Aliasing.
Boot Policy adding SAN boot target : what about this issue how can I provision it so I can configure it globally in abstract way then it will take targets depend on domain during associating the global service profile.

    @Gmonroy
    Thanks for support
But if I need to make a global Service profile temp so I can deploy SF from it in any domain, and if  I referenced this service profile temp to one boot policy so i need to unbind each service profile created from this temp to associate a different boot policy in each domain ? " I will lose the benefit of updating service profile template "
Or I have to create different template per domain ? " I will lose the key benefit of  centralizing Templates in UCS central"
Or there is any workaround to deply this senario.

  • Image colors depend on the computer that publishes my Domain file?!?!

Here's a weird one... First, the setup.
My site is published from two different computers both using iWeb '08, using the same Domain.sites2 file that's passed from computer to computer using my idisk. The Domain file is always copied down to a local computer before new changes are made and published. Recently, I've noticed, that publishing from one of the computers (but not the other) results in overly intense colors, especially in the red tones. This I tested by accessing my site with Safari and opening one of the overly intense images. Leaving the browser page open, I then republish my site using a different computer, accessed the page again... and the images is normal! On screen you see the previously published image beside the newly published image, and the color deffirecenes are obvious, even though the same file was being published without modification.
Can anyone think of why this is happening? I can't imagine iWeb treating the publishing of images differently from computer to computer, unless there is some other weird computer-dependent processing going on.
    Thanks for any ideas!
    John
aking the same Domain file, and without replacing the

Unfortunately, the issue is not with which pages get published (that works fine), but with the amount of color in the images that are published.
    Imagine this...
You have a JPEG photo of a sunset that is stored on an idisk. The photo is downloaded to Computer A, placed onto a page in iWeb, and published to the web. Here, the photo appears on the web site as one would expect (blue sky, subtle oranges and reds, some purples). The Domain.sites2 file is then copied onto the idisk.
Now, on Computer B the Domain.sites2 is downloaded from the idisk, and opened in iWeb. A change is made to the page (not a change to the photo) and the site is republished. When visiting the site a sunset still appears, but the blue sky is now really, really blue, and the subtle oranges and reds are now intensely red. It would appear that a significant amount of contrast and saturation has been added to the photo.
Something about publishing is different on Computer B.
    Here's some additional interesting data.
The original photo file is 1024 x 656 pixels and 391K in size.
The photo is sized in iWeb to be 605 x 388.
After the initial publishing from Computer A (the one in which the image looks fine), and upon investigating the Site folder created on MobileMe, the photo file has been resized to be 605 x 388 and now occupies 108K. After publishing from Computer B (where the image is contrasty and oversaturated), the dimensions of the file are still 605 x 388, but the size of the file when published from Computer B is 111K, so the file as published from Computer B is clearly different.
I'm guessing that this has something to do with how iWeb treats rescaling an image on one computer (or, maybe, version of Mac OS X or Quicktime?!?!) to another.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?
    Thanks!
    John

  • Modify the from header depending of destination domain in Exchange 2007

    Hello.
I have an Exchange 2007 organization. One edge and 2 mailbox-cas-hub servers. I want to modify the "From" header depending of destination domain.
For example, if the destination domain is @example.com and the sender is
[email protected], the new sender must be changed to
[email protected] . The user1 has both email address added as smtp address and @newdomain.com was set as primary address to respond and receive emails.
I have tried with transport rule but I cannot create it, because I received an error when I want to modify the "From" value. The command and error message are:
    Command:
    New-TransportRule -Name 'Test' -Comments
    '' -Priority '0' -Enabled $false -From
    '[email protected]' -SentToScope
    'NotInOrganization' -RecipientAddressContainsWords
    '@example.com'
    -SetHeaderName 'From' -SetHeaderValue
    '[email protected]'
    Error:
You can't set header 'From' with value
    '[email protected]'
I have tried without "@" and only with the username, but I got the same error.
I have been the New-AddressRewriteEntry option, but on this command I cannot set a specific destination domain, only it can set an internaldomain and externaldomain parameters.
I would like to resolve this issue with Exchange 2007 tools or commands, but I guess this requirement can be done with a third-party tool, anyone knows any?
    Thanks and regards.

I think what you're trying to do is pretty unusual, at least for Exchange. :-)
I don't know of anything that would run on Exchange that would be able to do that, but I think you can do it with something like Postfix.

  • Follow up - DNS (internal domain has same name as external website)

    Hi,
I am following up with on previous blog entry about resolving an domain internal name to an external website found here:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/4d97325b-ff3a-4f46-ba6e-dc3f4ff978e1/dns-internal-domain-has-same-name-as-external-website
    On October 30, 2014
HayashiTech provided a response suggesting the use of netsh interface portproxy on the DC's to resolve this issue. There has been no feedback to this suggestion and I am very curious what opinions are out there for this suggestion as it appears to be the
    best option provided yet.
Thank you in advance as well for all the great guidance I have found provided by Ace and his followers.

Interesting question. I've not seen that solution before, but having done a test on my lab setup it certainly seems to work as expected. Eg, using :
    netsh interface portproxy add v4tov4 listenport=80 listenaddress=dc1.abc.com connectport=80 connectaddress=www.abc.com
on my DC where I've setup a working external domain name with the www record pointing to the website, and the non-www record pointing to the DC, requests to the non-www address are successfully being redirected to the www address (after confirming it didn't
happen prior to adding the portproxy).
So on the face of it that does look like a workable solution. I haven't used it myself in anger obviously, but the two downsides I can think of immediately to this solution are :
    1) This operates as a proxy, so unlike the IIS method that Ace mentioned where it would tell the client to go to the www address instead (so the client connects direct), this method keeps your DC acting as a middle man, eg all communications to that address
go through your DC rather than direct from the client to the website. Depending on what they're doing on the website this may or may not be an issue for you.
    2) Since the client is continuing to connect to the DC throughout, if you ever did need the have something on the DC responding to port 80 then you could have issues. That said, according to
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731068(v=ws.10).aspx the portproxy listenaddress can be a FQDN rather than IP, so that could mitigate any issues there.
