Custom Album Art for Mixes??

Is there anyway to assign a custom album art/photo to a playlist (a personal mix)?

Thanks, Chris. Good suggestion. But the problem hasn't gone away. Here's what I did:
I ran Repair Permissions but it did not solve the problem. Then I ran verify disk and it checked out OK. Then I ran verify disk permissions and got these 3 i-Tunes related items in the results:
Permissions differ on "Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/CodeResources", should be -rw-rw-r-- , they are lrw-rw-r-- .
Permissions differ on "Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/Frameworks/iPodUpdater.framework/Versions/A/C odeResources", should be -rw-rw-r-- , they are lrw-rw-r-- .
Permissions differ on "Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/Resources/iTunesHelper.app/Contents/CodeResou rces", should be -rw-rw-r-- , they are lrw-rw-r-- .
Then I ran repair disk permissions a second time, and the same 3 i-Tunes-related "permissions differ" items showed up in the results. Problem still not solved.
I dug down to these 3 files. Only the iTunesHelper/Contents/CodeResources had a permissions setting available. It was set to rw-rw-r. I don't know what lwr might be or what to do about it if anything.
Bottom line, I still can't drag my JPEG into the iTunes artwork box. Now it doesn't even flash.
Thanks,
Scott

  • Can I import my own custom album art for my own music in iTunes?

Is the album artwork feature just for downloads from the iTunes store? Or can I import my own cover art as a JPEG, say, for music that I have created? Thanks, Scott

  • Can I force iTunes not to embed custom album art, but store it separately?

(I only use iTunes to manage my 16GB iPod nano 5th gen and update my mother's iPad.)
Now as far as I am aware, when iTunes downloads album art, it stores it separately from the audio files, and thus several tracks share the same image file for their artwork. This seems economical to me, considering the space limitations that most Apple devices have.
But if you set your custom album art, iTunes embeds it into the audio files themselves, so each has a copy of the artwork, and thus the total size of artwork increases about tenfold. Now this is okay when storing the audio files on personal computers, but is quite stupid for devices with limited storage capacities. It really depends on the size of the artwork and the bitrate your audio is encoded to, but I calculated I could put an extra 300MB of music onto my iPod if I could just somehow force iTunes to store my custom album art separately, not embed it into the audio files by default.
Does anybody have an answer/solution to this problem, or do I have to look beyond iTunes to do this?
    Thanks!
(Note that I do not wish to use the iTunes download artwork service, as it is quite unreliable and the artwork is of low quality.)

    Welcome to the forums.
You must paste the album art into each and every song on the album -- in iTunes, select all the songs, press Ctrl-I, and go in and paste in the album art picture. This is the only way to do it. Make sure the album name and artist is the same for each song while you are at it (if not it won't work either).
Now sync this to your iPhone and it should show up correctly for that album.

  • I updated my iPad 2 iOS to 6.1.2 and lost my album art for all my music, how can I get them back

I updated my iPad 2 iOS to 6.1.2 and lost my album art for all my music , how can I get them back?

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off"

  • Automatic album art for music I already own? not happening

The iTunes 7 description claims that it will automatically add album art for albums I've downloaded from my own CD collection, as long as the album exists on the iTunes music store. This is definitely NOT happening, which means a lot of albums display as blank. Has anyone successfully had album art added for music they didn't download from the music store? Any hints on making this happen? Thanks!

Yes. I downloaded artwork for several ripped CDs.
Any hints on making this happen?
The Name, Artist and Album have to be spelled exactly as in the iTunes Store.
It also seems to be case sensitive.
    Hope this helps.

  • Set album art for movies?

anyone know how to set or change the "album art" for movies in your itunes music library?

    Hi Billy,
Play the movie and when you get the frame you want pause. Ctrl Click to get contextual menu and set from there.

  • No album art for uploaded cds

I uploaded a couple of cds i bought, and i cant figure out how to get album art for those cds. Any one know how to fix this?

Yeah, people from iTunes supported countries can easily download artwork, but if you are from a not supported country then get iTunes Art Importer, much easier then dragging covers into every song.

  • Separate Album art for each episode.

I have a video podcast that I set up and I'm trying to make separate album art for each episode- unfortunately I have no idea how to even go about this.
I'm prepared to edit the xml file if I need to, as long as someone can walk me through it.
    thanks!

    hey all,
I did some fooling around and I was able to get it. I didn't even need to do anything to the xml file.
    Here's how:
I imported the movie into itunes BEFOREHAND and gave it album art (a jpg image). This metadata was saved and when I dragged the file from my itunes library over into iWeb, that metadata carried over, even when I tried subscribing to it as a video podcast, the picture I dragged into the artwork field was still there.
    Hooray!

  • Recovering album art for movies

I am having problems with the album art on itunes. The album art for my songs, tv shows, and movies, I can seem them in itunes. but when I load the files onto my ipod touch the album art gets screwed up. It takes frames from movies and substitutes them for album art for a song. anyway so I went to the apple store, and they told me to delete the album art and have itunes redownload it using the get album art thing in itunes. I went into the movie files and deleted the album art. and when I told itunes to get new album art, it did not fix the problem. now I can't see the album art in itunes anymore. I know it's not a big deal... but I really would like to fix it. any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
As a recommendation, check online to see if you can get an app that does that for you.

  • Why is it that Itunes can't find album art for "North" by Elvis Costello and others

Why is it that from all the albums in my Library itunes can not find album art for:
    "North" by Elvis Costello
    "Viva la Vida" by Coldplay
and "Old Yellow Moon" by Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowel?

    Earl,
For iTunes to find the art, it needs to match exactly on the Artist and Album Text.  Minor issues like spacing or punctuation can prevent the match, as can a misspelling like "Crowel" for Crowell."
Look in the iTunes Store to get the exact text, fix the tags in the corresponding tracks, and then try again to "Get Album Artwork."
If that still fails, just grab the correct art off the web, and paste it into the Artwork tab.

  • Can't get Album Art for CDs

I ripped a bunch of CDs to Windows Media Player and it got the album art for all of them. Then later I installed iTunes and it automatically converted the songs over to it from WMP, but iTunes did not get the album art and it says that it is not available when I click on "Get Album Art." What do I do?

Not a complete answer, but will get you most of the art work you need.
Find the album on the Internet. I usually try Amazon.com, puretracks.com, or any site that will let you right click and save the art work shown. Use the "Save As" and save it as a "jpg" file. Make sure you put it in a location, and give it a name you can find.
Open iTunes, find the album and right click on it. Click on "Get Info", go to the "Artwork" tab, and click on "Add". Brows to the location where you saved the artwork and add it.
If you have more that one song in the same album you can add the same artwork to each song by right clicking on the artwork just imported and selecting copy. Go to the next song's artwork and right click and select past.
Not the best, but after I find the album I can add the artwork to all the songs in an album in less that two minutes.
It is taking a little work, but I am slowly overcoming the stupidity of the Apple programmers who wrote iTunes. It is a fairly good program, but it could be much better if Apple would make it easier for users to submit suggestions, and if they incorporated the popular suggestions. Unfortunately Apple has always had an arrogant attitude and they are not likely to change any time soon.

  • How do I Get Album Art for Some Tracks Only?

I feel really stupid for asking this but I have tried to find out how to do it to no avail!
I only want to get the album art for actual albums but whenever I click on "Get Album Artwork" it goes through my whole library!
I have tried by highlighting the songs and then clicking get album artwork... did not work.
I have tried only selecting the songs I wanted [using checkbox thingy] and then clicking get album artwork... did not work.
I feel there is a really simple and obvious way to do this but cannot for the life of me figure out how.
    Regards,
    Michael

    HAHAHAHAHA!
Thank you! I tried that and did not see it at all!

  • How can I quickly get the same album art for all tracks on an album without manually doing them one at a time?

I am having trouble with album art linked to each track. My library is ripped from my own cd's and ITunes only provides some of the artwork from a find artwork search. The rest must be found and added one at a time manually from web. This process is tedious and time consuming for me. Is there a file in iTunes related to each album that I can just drop the art once and it shows up linked to all the tracks from that album when they play? I've tried selecting all songs from an album and dragging the artwork to the artwork window once in hopes of all tracks getting the artwork at the same time with no luck. Any advice for this paltry artwork dilemma would be appreciated. If Cassidy & Greene still owned this ******* child of SoundJam I know I would not be having this problem! HaHa...Thanks for any advice/help with this problem.

Thx 4 quick reply alexbird. Your method will work and after a little experimenting so will this: Just go to the album art view option and highlight the album you want artwork for. Drag the artwork from your album art web search page to bottom left hand album art window in iTunes and just drop it there. A small progress window then appears showing each album track adopting the dropped artwork one by one. It only takes 10-15 seconds for all of the tracks on your album to adopt the new artwork. I then went back and removed unwanted artwork(from the albums that had it) track by track from the get info menu. This goes pretty quick as you just pick track>get info>artwork>highlight art>delete>ok for each track.
This drag/drop to the album art view page has been the simplest and most effective way I have discovered to manually import album artwork into iTunes so far. Hope this helps someone else out there. Any other methods or suggestions to do this task added to this thread will be duly noted. Thx... Oh, I am currently using iTunes 10.5.1
