Custom Audio Folder?

Hello,
I'm a journalist, and I've been using an 5th-generation iPod to transcribe my interviews (recorded with an Olympus voice recorder).
I'm considering getting an iPod Touch. I see that the Touch allows creation of "custom" folders. Would it be possible for me to create a folder called "Interviews" on the home screen, then put all my interviews in that folder?
This would be great, because in the past I have had to put interviews in the "music" folder, which has never been quite natural to me.
I tried to answer this question at my local Circuit City and Best Buy, but the iPod Touch on display was not working in those stores.
Thanks!

I am a newbie - both to iPods in general and the Touch in particular so take this for what it is worth.
It appears to me that you could create a "Playlist" containing only your interviews. Although you would not be able to access the list directly via a single button on the Home screen, you would be just a few taps away: Music -> Playlists -> desired interview.
As to someone else's comment re: PDF's, it appears the Touch email client can display PDF attachments so one could always mail them to oneself ...

    the old apps are on my computer but they have had upgrades since they were put on the ipod originally.  you think you would get a warning about this when you restored. I was not worried about losing the progress of the apps but i would have been worried about the app it self!!!!!

  • Custom audio player in Edge?

    Hi.
    I'd like to create a custom audio player in Edge. I need the code for the following elements:
    play/pause - play/pause toggle button (mouseover hides the play and reveals the pause and vice-versa)
    timeline - timeline track
    loading/buffering bar - loading/buffering progress bar
    handle - playhead: indicates current position in the audio file and  acts as a drag handle to move to a different point of the audio
    timeleft - remaining play time (in minutes and seconds)
    The buttons are symbols, because they all have mouseover/mouseout animations beside the click.
    Here´s a schematic of what I want:
    Help?

    I found this tutorial by Neutron Creations (all credits to them) that seems to meet the requirements for my custom audio player.
    The problem is that, not being a Javascript/jQuery savy, I'm having quite a bit of difficulty in adapting the code to Edge's context.
    Could you please lend a help?

  • Flash Builder custom code folding

    I've just donwloaded the new CC versions and will possibly be buying the subscription at the end of this month.  I was previously using CS4 versions.
    One thing I noticed though, is that the custom code folding options in the Flash CC actionscript editor are gone, you can now only collapse entire functions.  This remains true for flash builder as well.
    So is there any way to collapse custom regions in flash builder instead of just entire functions?  I'm working on a flash MMO and I've got over 10,000+ lines of code.  Being able to collapse only functions simply doesn't cut it.  It really hinders my development time as I have to scroll through masses of code in order to get to what I need.  It's also much much more confusing looking at thousands of lines of code that I don't need to see at the moment.  Visual studio has a way of defining regions by typing "#region" and "#endregion" in the area you wish to collapse.  Is there anything I can do about this?  This is a very very important feature (at least for me) that I'm not sure why it was left out, or I am unable to find it.
    Thanks.

  • I deleted the "audio" folder in my HD library preferences, now my computer doesn't work right.  Imagine that.

    I recently clean installed Mountain Lion on my mac mini and I was unable to switch between my HDMI output and the headphone port in sound preferences.  If the headphones were plugged in it wouldn't let me switch to HDMI.  I read a thread where someone suggested deleting the audio folder in preferences.  Like an idiot, I went ahead and did it.  Now my computer's all screwed up.  Audio Midi Setup gives me the pinwheel-of-death and I have to force quit.  I also get the pinwheel when I mouse over the stuff in the top right corner of the screen.  A lot of stuff is giving me the pinwheel.
    How can I fix this?

    OOH...  In the nick of time.  I was getting ready to nuke it from orbit(clean reinstall).  Lucky you chimed in when you did.  Running the installer should be considerably faster than wiping the HD.
    I put ML on a usb drive.  Does this mean I just go into the thumb drive and click on Install OSX Mountain Lion?

  • Adobe Captivate 6 Missing Audio Folder

    I recorded audio to my Adobe Captivate 6 project, slide by slide.
    I can see the audio on the bottom of the Timeline.
    When I right click on the audio, it shows on the upper screen of the Library tab on the right side of my screen, but I do not see an Audio folder on the lower part of the Library screen like I usually do.
    How do I see the Audio folder again?
    Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Dave

    I cleared the cache via Preferences, but no change.
    I ran the batch file to refresh the Preferences folder, but no change.
    This is only happening for one of my projects others open up fine and display the Audio file.
    Thoughts?

  • Managing Audio Folder

    Hello,
    I'm getting a lot of superfluous tracks stored in my audio files folders. Is there an easy way to avoid this or to delete the unneeded files?
    Thanks

    Yes I know how to delete unused files in the Bin but I'm talking about the Audio Folder. I've got takes in there that have noting on them and I don't know why they are there. I'm in the habit of using the "undo" function immediately when I have a bad take and I usually don't do multiple takes. I stay on the same track deleting as I go and when I have a decent take I save it and create a new track then I try for a better take.

  • Custom Tags Folder Location

    I downloaded an email ascii encryption tag that is a "custom"
    tag. The ReadMe suggests copying the .cfm file to the
    <<CustomTags>> folder. I cannot find such.
    Can I simply create such a folder? Where should I put it?
    Thanks, -Barry

    This is a cold fusion question you need to login to cold
    fusion administrator to find the location of the custom tags folder
    then you should be able to use the custom tag once you copy the
    file there unless it needs some settings defined inside the .cfm
    file

  • Custom audio player

    I'd like to create an audio player like the CSMonitor uses
    for its daily podcast at csmonitor.com
    I'm able to create one using a simple rewind, stop, start,
    and jump to end button using actionscript, but how do I get start
    button to change to pause button when pushed and vice versa,
    progress bar with blue ball, and counter that shows time played out
    of total time length of audio file?
    Do I make a separate image for the blue ball and the progress
    bar? then how do I script the ball to move and the time indicators.
    Actionscript I'm currently familiar with using:
    gotoAndStop(1)
    rewindBtn.onPress = function () {
    gotoAndStop(1);
    stopBtn.onPress = function () {
    stop();
    playBtn.onPress = function () {
    play();
    endBtn.onPress = function () {
    gotoAndStop(2560);
    pauseBtn.onRelease = function () {
    (toggle = (toggle) ? false : true) ? stop() : play();
    };

    I found this tutorial by Neutron Creations (all credits to them) that seems to meet the requirements for my custom audio player.

  • Custom Audio Element : flush buffer and synchronize execution of a media

    Hi,
    Everything is in the title ! I found a discussion on an older Cisco forum (here is the link https://communities.cisco.com/docs/DOC-48793 ) about flushing the dtmf buffer. A jar file was attached to the discussion. It contains two custom audio elements (by overriding the "addxmlbody" method) : the first one is used to flush dtmf buffer to prevent the interruption of the next audio and the second permits to a synchronous completion of the media playing.
    Is it possible to merge this two elements in only one with two functionalities ?
    Thanks.

    I mean, do somethig like this:
          * This will get called when there's data pushed from the
          * PushBufferDataSource (ex. RTP, VoD or microCapture)
         public void transferData(PushBufferStream stream)
             try {
              stream.read(readBuffer);
             } catch (IOException e) {
              System.err.println(e);
              sendEvent(new DataSinkErrorEvent(this, e.getMessage()));
              return;
             sendOverUDP(toBytes(readBuffer));
             // Check to see if we are done with all the streams.
             if (readBuffer.isEOM() && checkDone(stream)) {
              sendEvent(new EndOfStreamEvent(this));
           //Convert buffer to byte array
            public byte[] toBytes(Buffer buffer){
                ByteArrayOutputStream baos = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
                try{
                    ObjectOutputStream oos = new ObjectOutputStream(baos);
                    oos.writeObject(buffer);
                }catch(java.io.IOException ioe){}
                return baos.toByteArray();
            }Is it would be correct? Because Now I'm implementing a byteBufferDataSource to create a DataSource from the byteBuffer to play it. But I'm not sure if I'n in the good way! What do you think?
    Thanks!

  • Custom audio codecs

    Hello!!
    I would like to use my own custom audio codec. I am trying to do that step by step. So, I have taken the codec com.sum.media.codec.audio.mpa.Packetizer and the decodec com.sun.media.codec.audio.mpa.DePacketizer from the source code and changed some pieces of code, as far as I can remember:
    - Codec/Decodec name
    - outputFormats (codec)/inputFormats (decodec)
    - in method "newFrameNewBuffer" (codec), the line String encoding = AudioFormat.MPEG_RTP
    However, the receiver does not listen any audio.
    Do I have to make other changes in the code???
    It would be great if somebody could help me.

    Cisco IP Phones only supported the following codecs:
    - Wideband
    - G722
    - G711 (both alaw and ulaw)
    - G729

  • Custom Devices folder

    Within the documentation, it says, "The Select Objects dialog box opens with the Devices folder as the root folder. By default, the Servers and Workstations folders are displayed along with any custom folders that you have created in the Devices folder. How does one create a custom folder?
    All our workstations get registered in the Workstations folder. However, we now have a population of managed devices that we want to exclude from Bundle/Policy associations to the Workstations folder. I have a Workstations/Excluded from Management folder, but am now reading that devices moved into this folder still inherit the associations?!?! So ideally, I'd like to create a custom root folder to place my unique managed devices in so I don't have to go through all my bundles and change associates to accommodate these new devices.

    I don't have my ZCC in front of me right now, but the docs imply that you can create a new root folder, but I've never done it.
    However, what *I* would do:
    Create a new subfolder underneath Workstations and then set the blocking/parameters there. Just click the Worsktations folder and then the bluish menu bar should have a New -> Folder option or something.
    So you're regular workstations will be in:
    \Devices\Workstations
    your special ones will be like:
    \Devices\Workstations\Special
    For example, we have like 25 sub-folders underneath Workstations (for our geographical locations).
    You can then either manually place the workstations in there, or use registration keys to auto-place the special devices there.

  • Getting rid of files in the project audio folder

    I can delete unused files from the Bin, but doing that does not delete them from the project audio folder. The only way I've found to get rid of the unused files to to save a copy. Is there another way?

    You could use either Consolidate or Clean ... Logic Pro>File>Project

  • No Audio Folder on Disc

    Disc plays on Mac but not in DVD player. Disc has the HDVIDEO_TS folder but no audio folder. I was told that it will not work w/o audio folder even though there is no content in the folder.
    I've tried various solutions but then it occurred to me (after reading in forum) that I might've created an HD file while moving through Compressor and that I'm misinformed about the audio folder?
    Should I be seeing an audio folder on the disc?
    thanks!

    No, the problem is that you created a HD DVD. HD DVDs will only play on Macs and a few, now obsolete , Toshiba HD DVD players. They will not play in Windows computers, DVD players or Blu-Ray players.
    You need to through away the HDVIDEO_TS folder and your DVD SP project. Create a new project in DVD SP. Go into the Preferences and change it from HD DVD to SD DVD. In Compressor, make sure you are creating a MPEG-2 for your video and a AC3 file for your audio.
    When you Build your disc you should have a VIDEO_TS and a AUDIO_TS folder. There should not be a HDVIDEO_TS folder at all. The AUDIO_TS folder should be empty. Some DVD players, if they do not see a AUDIO_TS folder will report that the disc is "damaged". Its very rare, but since the folder takes no space on the disc, there is no reason to leave it off.

  • Audio Folder - Can it be deleted?

    Hello there, a little question from a beginner.
    When doing recording projects in Logic for every project Logic creates an Audio Folder where all your audio takes are stored.
    Now in some projects this folder becomes huge for me meaning taking much place on HD, I have External HD using Timemachine but still I am wondering:
    Is it of any damage for a project to delete the Audio folder?
    I mean every take you do gets in there (even though they are mistakes and of no use)
    Any suggestions on how and what I can do to lower the size of this folder? and if not can the Audio Folder of every finished project be deleted?
    Thanx in advance

    When you say you deleted the 'audio folder' I'm curious to know what you mean. If you have recorded actual audio into Logic, the files will reside in the folder called 'Audio Files' within the project folder. Whilst this folder can be cleaned up using the mentioned techniques you can't delete it without losing your audio files. You might just want to check this... (unless you're talking about something else)...
    well after deleting the unused files in Audio Bin, then i re-saved the project.
    It didn´t clean up the Audio File Folder.
    I still had the big mess of tons of audio files taken.
    So i made a copy of the hole project, removed unused files in Audio Bin and trashed the "Audio file" folder within the copy project.
    re-saved the project, emptied the trash and when loading the Audio project everything was just fine.
    after that i trashed the hole copy project and did the same with main project folder.
    everything sounds just fine.
    The only difference is; the new Audio file folder is smaller and the project loads up faster.
