Best regards,
munitio

  • Custom bios request A6000-030US

To Svet and any others...  I have a MSI A6000-030US laptop that has just left teh warranty period and I would like to take a chance at the OC'ing of the laptop and also upgrading the Intel CPU from the factory one - Core 2 Duo T6600 to either the T9600 or P8700 or any other chip that will do a better job at running multiple types of jobs/tasks, including Autocad, video editing, gaming and Dual-booting different Os'es.
there had been a listing in the past for a special bios patching in the past but for an A5000 series unit ith the Intel Celeron.   I am hoping to push this laptop and just see just how far it may go, of course within its limits.
Any and all suggestions and help are greatly appreciated.

  • MSI GE620 Custom BIOS request

    HI,
I wanna use GE620 laptop for music recording and thus I need to get the lowest DPC latency possible. The original latest BIOS 10F offers very poor options to change anything.
I would like to have just as "editable" BIOS as we get on desktops - disable/enable on board Intel HD Graphics, RAM, CPU management.
What do you think? Is it worth having custom BIOS in order to get the lowest DPC lat. available?
Is there any other way to disable Intel HD graphic and have only Nvidia Geforce GT540M running?
    thanks

Not to necropost, but Svet, if you are still around, you mentioned that disabling the onboard intel video would cause the system to not boot.
Could this then point to issues with the onboard intel video chipset in regards to the GE620 not displaying anything at power on at times?
Nope, just the signal is passed to dedicated one, in 99%[maybe in 100%] in notebooks.
I.e. dedicated must works OK, to be able to see anything

Hi.  Just got myself a brand new GT60-20C, and the lack of a left Windows key is driving me nuts.  Sounds like you can mod a BIOS that would swap the left Fn and right Windows keys.  If you can do that, I'd greatly appreciate it.

    Hi,
Is it possible to generate a BIOS update, for allowing the notebook to have 32 GB (2x16 GB) SODIMMs. It seems that the Memory Reference Code needs some adjustments to allow this. I got currently the MSI GP60 2PE Leopard (i7-4700HQ • 16 GB DIMM).

hello, what issue you have with the ssd?

  • HP H8-1500z and Samsung SSD - BIOS sees the drive, Win 8.1 doesn't

I'm trying to help a friend (no really!)  I've worked in IT support, but this has me stumped so far.
The H8-1500z has an AMD hexacore CPU, and the AMD Raid storage driver.  The Samsung Magician software has been run using a USB adapter to clone the internal HHD to the SSD drive, and it seemed to go fine.  When all else has failed, the SSD has been bootable as a USB device.  So it would seem the SSD is working OK, just not when connected to an internal SATA port.
The current SATA config includes the internal HDD, a four-device memory card reader/writer, and now the Samsung SSD.
The SSD is visible to the BIOS, but not to Windows 8.1.
I switched the BIOS from RAID (the default) to AHCI - the PC still works, but no change.  Win 8.1 updates are all installed, and the BIOS reports it's also up-to-date.  I've run the HP troubleshooter a few times--it reports it has made changes, but again, no joy.
Samsung tech support wrote this to him:
All Samsung Solid State Drives are compatible with AMD processors. The only known issue with AMD machines is with the Samsung SSD Magician software, in which the native AMD SATA port drivers are not compatible with the SSD Magician software. To remedy this, we simply ask that you install Microsoft SATA port drivers or NVIDIA SATA port drivers and the issue will be resolved.
We've scoured the Micrsoft site and Google on how to "simply" do this.  Comparing the driver names for my Crucial SSD drives and his, the three files are the same.  I think he already has the drivers installed.  The Device Manager lists the "Microsoft Strorage Space Controller."  He did attempt disabling the  AMD drivers by renaming them; the PC was unbootable.  Thankfully he was able to boot off the SSD with USB and put the filenames back and restore bootability.
I've suggested he disconnect the memory card reader to test.  He hasn't tried it yet.  I'm thinking of bringing my rig over, and seeing if my homebuilt can see his drive, and if his HP can see one of my SSD drives.
We've been at this for several weeks, and I've spent hours on this site and Googling to try and figure out why the BIOS would see the drive, but not Windows.
I really hope someone can point us in the right direction.
    Many thanks,
    Steve

I understand that you are attempting to get your friend's desktop computer to recognize the new SSD in Windows 8.1, and I would be happy to help you!
Since the SSD is visible from the BIOS, I recommend following the steps in this document on How To Change Drive Letter In Windows 8.1. This should help the Windows operating system see the SSD.

  • W510 with 256 GB Samsung SSD. BIOS harddisk diagnostics

    Hi all,
I received a W510 with a 256 GB Samsung SSD last week from a reseller. Upon start I noticed some strange errors in Windows (icons missing, problems rebooting) and subsequently ran the harddisk diagnostics tool available from the BIOS. The tool gave me the message: "Error code 0000: read verification failed". For me this is conclusive evidence that the disk does not work as it should.
After a short talk describing the problem for a technician from the reseller I could return the laptop for a fix.
This week I get the laptop back. Windows reinstalled and seemingly working. I run the Lenovo Diagnostics software which returns no error at all. But, not convinced I decided to run the BIOS harddisk diagnostic tool again. I get the same message: "Error code 0000: read verification failed".
I call up the reseller and find out how they actually just made a reinstall of Windows instead of a thorough search for the fault. After sending him a picture of the output of the diagnostic tool he agrees that there is an error and will send some UPS labels so I can return the laptop for service.
Later the same day I get a call from the technician and he informs me that the BIOS diagnostics tool is only for rotational media and thus not applicable to SSD. Apparently he got this information from another technician. I am a bit suspecious about this so I ask him to supply documentation for his claim in the form of Lenovo statements or similar.
Somewhat unsurprisingly I haven't heard back from him yet.
Is there any truth to his statement? I haven't been able to find any documentation regarding this. If anyone with a W510 with an SSD could run the harddisk diagnostic tool from BIOS and see what it reports I would be extremely grateful.
    So to sum up:
Technician claims that harddisk diagnostic tool in W510 BIOS is not applicable to an SSD. Can you give me a pointer to the truth of this statement?
    Best regards
    John Johann

    Thanks!
A collegue also ran the test on his Thinkpad T60 with an SSD and it also succeeded. With this information there was nowhere to hide for the reseller who agreed that there is indeed a problem. Also the reseller was unable to provide documentation supporting his statement regarding only support for rotational media.
I have now returned the laptop for a replacement of the disk. Hopefully it will work correctly when I receive it next time.

I did remove ac and battery for more than 5mins after flash. Many thanks much appreciated! благодаря Svet!

  • Request: MSI GT60 Unlocked/Custom BIOS

Hi Svet, hoping you can help me or at least let me know if it's possible. I am trying to run a RAID 0 on Solid States and I'm having an issue with the controller picking up both drives at 6Gb/s, anything a custom BIOS would fix?

Quote from: squishface on 18-June-12, 06:53:45
Got the custom BIOS in place but doesn't seem to have any feature to force the other drive to be detected at 6Gb/s. I think it's a limitation of the ports on the main board. It seems Port 0 and 1 are 6Gb/s while the remaining four sata ports are 3Gb/s. Is there any way to swap those ports or is that restricted to hardware?
There is a option to force the Sata gen speed, but dunno for which ports is related.

this looks like 2 of the ports are controlled by one controller, while remaining 4 by different with lower sata gen capability.
[if that's the case, its hardware limitation]
