Custom Charting Objects in OBIEE 10g

Hi ,
Has any one ever used their custom charting objects , meaning something other than the gauges , meaning custom images and built charts on or around them.I am using OBIEE 10.3.1.4.

you can go to Answers--> Click on Column properties-->Format Headings-->Make "Boarder Position" = None.
and do the same for
Format Values-->Make "Boarder Position" = None.

Obiee 10g - How to Increase the default size of Bubble chart radius axis

Hi,
I have an requirement of creating bubble chart in obiee 10g.
When i was developing the bubble chart i noticed that there is no option of increasing the size of the bubble.
When the measure value is low the bubble is not getting displayed.
Kindly help me with any solution.

In SQL Server Reporting Services 2008, the Bubble chart has several custom attributes which allow us to control the size of the bubbles. "BubbleMaxSize" and "BubbleMinSize" attributes allow us to define the size of the bubble in the chart series. The values
set are in percent of the whole chart size. We can find those attributes in the property pane by selecting bubble series and expanding 'CustomAttributes' properties.
And based on my research, the Marker size has a wide range, but for some reason once we get to around 8 the bubble in the legend will not grow any bigger. So in your scenario, we can set the Marker size to 8pt, then set the appropriate “BubbleMaxSize" and
"BubbleMinSize" based on the chart size to make the size of both the bubble are the same. For example, we can also set “BubbleMaxSize" and "BubbleMinSize" to 8, then manually adjust the chart size until both the bubbles have same size.
Beside, we can delete the original legend, and drag a tablix to the right of the chart. And then insert the corresponding data and color to tablix to let it looks like a legend. For more details information, you can refer to the link below to see Mike’s

Bubble chart in OBIEE 10g

Is there any way to increase the bubble size of bubble chart in obiee 10g? Like whether we can use javascript or HTML Code to achieve it?

But I cannot understand your point. My requirement is something different. In the X axis I have project_number and y axis I have measures like budget,commitment & incurred_cost. Now the vertical chart gives me the summarize view. Now for a particualr project say AA, I can see three vertical bars showing budget,commitment & incurred_cost. Now the requirement is if I click on budget bar it will popup a new window showing related details of budget which is a different report, if click on commitment bar it will open commitment report in another window and so on.
I am not able to implement this like multiple navigation from a bar chart.
Can you please help on how to do this in OBIEE 10g.

OBIEE 10g - Ability to overlay Area Chart?

Hi Experts,
I am using OBIEE 10g. I have a requirement to plot Total Market Units with Brand units over time in an Area Chart. The requirement here is that the area of Brand Units should overlay on the Market units measure thus signifying that Brand units is out of the total Market Units, but when this is being plotted into an Area Chart, the Market Units is stacked on top of the Brand Units therefore the chart's total (highest point) on the Y Axis is Market Units + Brand Units but I want this total to reflect only the Market Units figure.
Is there anyway in an Area Chart to show the figures for Market Units and Brand units separately (when mouse rollover) but on the Y axis, it's just showing the Market units's figure?

Using logical query filters can convert to sql but it should not with XML.
This is expected behavior for logical queryies only.

Object Level security by creating catalog groups in OBIEE-10G

Hi All,
I have a requirement to display the dashboard based on the user login. Ex. Mike belongs to HR, Smith belongs to Accounts
When Mike logs in he should see only these three dashboards. HR View, Common data1, common data2. When Smith logs in he should see only these three dashboards. Accounts view, Common data1, commondata2.
The commondata1 and commondata2 dashboards has common reports for all the departments. The other dashboards are department specific with all different reports. How can I implement this?
From one of my earlier posts I was advised to do it using Object Level security by creating catalog groups. Can you please provide me end to end instructions on how to create Object level security based on catalog groups.

Yes, You achive by Object Level security by creating catalog groups
1) Create Catalog group and users in RPD part(Ex: Account_grp,HR_grp)
2)assign user to that particular group(let say Ex: Account_grp= Smith and HR_grp=Mike )
3) login (Admin user id ) into dashboard page and --->mange dashboard page -->add users to that particular
dashboard to relevent users and save it then
try to login that mike and smith user it will work

OBIEE 10g Drill Down Chart From Axis Label

Hello All
Does any one know if OBIEE 10g can drill down values in a chart by clicking the axis labels of the charts.
In other words, if there was a bar chart with two bars, one for May and one for June, could a user click on the label 'May' or 'June' to drill down in the chart or can OBIEE only drill charts by clicking on the actual bar in the chart?

Hi,
In 11g chart navigations have changed.They are now moved to the criteria level and are therefore not available in results view.In your case, navigate to the criteria ->interaction tab and add the target as action link.

Not able to save date column with custom date format. in OBIEE 11g

Hi,
I have migrated one report from OBIEE 10g to 11g. There is a date column with customized date format(i.e. Default format is 'dd-MMM-yyyy' and I have used 'MMM-yyyy').
But when I use this custom format and try to save the report in 11g its giving this below error.
''Catalog object privilege validation failed for user to path /shared/ALM BI/Finacial Results/History Income Statement Detail.
You do not currently have sufficient privileges to save a report or dashboard page that contains HTML markup.
This HTML might be present in column headings, table headings, text views, narrative views, the print header,
or the print footer and must be removed before saving.''
Please let me know what changes I need to do for this.

OBIEE 10G SSO Issue

We have configured OBIEE 10g on IIS (ver-6) server. We have a business requirement where we need to integrate OBIEE with another ASP.NET application. So, user should log in once and to view OBIEE reports he should not log in again.
Now we have checked GO URL option given in Chapter 11 of Oracle® Business Intelligence Presentation Services Administration Guide. But problem is our company policy does not allow us to pass Password in HTTP URL. So we cannot use that solution.
We are trying to use SSO and referred to Chapter 8 of Deployment Guide. We followed all the steps give in that chapter
Also, we modified isapiconfig.xml and entered <CredentialStore> paramaters in it.
But when we Go to Analytics URL (for remote machine) Login screen show "Not Logged In" message.
currently we are using REMOTE_USER method as it is given in documention.
So we did everything by the book. Now my question is:
1) We do not have any SSO server/Product, is there is any way we can integrate OBIEE application to other ASP.Net application on another IIS SERVER? There was a suggestion that if we pass remoter_user parameter in HTTP header, is it possible to work this way.
2) Is it possible that if we host both the ASP.NET and OBIEE 10g on SAME IIS server there is way to integrate them using SSO without any SSO server again by passing remote_user HTTP header
3) What options do we have to integrate ASP.NET application and OBIEE without using SSO server itself and without using GO url method as we cannot pass password in header. Will Cookie Enabling Method can work in this scenerio.
4) Is there is way that OBIEE directly take windows ID without SSO server, I know question might sound stupid as in prerequisite i read that we need “SSO system of Choice” but we need to be absolutely sure about our option and possibilities.

Thanks for your response. I was doing a bit of R&D on SOAP API, tell me if i am wrong.
In case we use SOAP API to Authenticate then we will get Response in terms of XML and we have to write our own code to render it in tables or charts.
We dont want that we just want to automate the Authentication part and want to use OBIEE use Interactive Dashboards. Kindly suggest if I am wrong and if we just write a piece of Code to get the Authentication done and it will not affect the further use of OBIEE.

most error relating to table DOKTL are caused by misconfigured network card.
if this is a "home" system, install a loopback adapter from Microsoft and use IP address 127.0.0.1 and also check "hosts" file for inconsistency. do not use the IP adddress provided by your ISP as it may change.

Custom tooltips on maps (OBIEE 11.1.1.5)

Is it possible to customize the tooltips on maps (i.e. add custom text, change the fonts used, remove unwanted columns)?

I know that Iphone has an APP to view our dashboard, but I don't try yet. But...for other smartphones (like Samsung or Nokia) is possible to get a correct view? In obiee 10g I can see the same distribution like computer (with safari explorer on Iphone) but in obiee11g it changes...

Kindly let me How to remove unused objects like subject areas , Initialization blocks etc in OBIEE RPD.
Plz suggest me.we are using OBIEE 10g .If i use Utilities option to remove unused objects will other objects have any impact?Can i use this Utilities Option?

Governor limit exceeded in cube generation error in OBIEE 10g

one of my OBIEE Report is throwing the error called *"Governor limit exceeded in cube generation(Maximum data records exceeded.)"*
I am using OBIEE 10g.Could you please suggest me here and report also runnig for long time like to get one day data it is running for 30 min to pick 9000 rows.

Try to alter the values in the instanceconfig.xml. ( Under \OracleBIData\web\config )

Also refer to : OBIEE 10g: Error: "Governor Limit Exceeded In Cube Generate. Error Codes: QBVC92JY" or "Maximum number of allowed pages in Pivot Table exceeded...Error Detail" When Displaying a Pivot View or Chart [ID 1092854.1] if it did not solve the issue.

Grid lines appear in bold format in Graphs - OBIEE 10g

Dear Experts,
I am facing an issue with the grid lines in the graphs in reports.
All the graphs in reports(webcat) are appearing with 'bold GRID lines' instead of normal grid lines which in turn is affecting the look and feel of the graphs in the webcat. Is there any way to eliminate this by setting any parameter in XML files?
I am using OBIEE 10g version. Kindly let me know your inputs so as to eliminate this bold grid lines in all the graphs.

Prashant,
You can't have the page name change dynamically. The only option left is to create duplicate pages with different names and apply object level security based on different grps.
