Custom command problems on Mac OS X

I am seeing a problem with custom context commands in our custom connector that is also reproducible with the sample FTP connector shipped with the SDK. I am using Adobe Drive 3.2.0.41 on Mac OS X 10.8.2
For my test I am connecting to a FTP server and attempting to run the "File Properties" command from a file's Adobe Drive menu in Finder. When I first start Drive and connect, the command works and the "File Properties" dialog appears as expected. However, if I disconnect, reconnect, then browse back to the file and attempt the command again, the File Properties dialog does not appear. The Finder window does kind of "grey out" as if another dialog is about to be shown, but it never is. I don't see any kind of error messages in the CS5ServiceManager logs.
If I disconnect, close Drive, kill the AdobeDriveCS5 and CS5ServiceManager processes with Activity Monitor, and then restart Drive and reconnect, the custom commands work again.
Has anyone else experienced these kinds of problems with custom commands on Mac OS after a disconnect/reconnect cycle?

Our only other environment we could set up was on Mac OS 10.7.5, and we could not reproduce the issue. Based on that it would appear to be something new with Mac OS 10.8.

Firefox + Mac: applet fails to load because getTreeCellRendererComponent() does not seem to get invoked.

Problem under Mac OS X with very long commands

in one app. I have very long commands, this make problems under mac os x (sdk 1.4.2)
it works under Lin and Win, only under Mac OS X it wont work like it shoud.

Custom command set problems

Hi,
I am having some problems with my custom Avid based command set.
I have had the "A" and "S" keys assigned to "Go to prev/next edit" to simulate Avid but want to change it to "Up" and "Down" which does pretty much the same in the timeline but allows me to go to next/previous clip in the list view as well.
The problem is that every time I try to assign the "Down" command to the "S" key the .commandset file gets corrupt and the next time I start fcpx it freezes at "Restoring the window layout".
I can assign it if I make a completely new command set.
Can anyone see if they can recreate this? My commandset file can be downloaded here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6196177/Avid.commandset

OK, then it has do be something specific with my command set. I've recreated my problem several times: Start fcpx, works fine, quit, take backup of preferences file. Start fcpx again, works fine, switch to custom command set, works fine, quit, restart of app fails... revert to backed up preferences file, works fine...
What could it be in my command set then? I've tried recreating the setup I use in Avid. The thing is that it works just fine until I quit and restart the app... Really annoying!

Do a backup.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

AD account Login problem with MAC 10.6.8

Hi All,
We have around 50 odd MAC that are connected to windows server 2008 R2. the user were logining in to these MACs using their AD account. Recently few of the random MAC did not allow the user to login using their AD account.When analyzed though the MAC shows that it has connected to the Domain and the server is active with green button it has unbind itself from the server.I had to login in as local user bind the MAC back to get this resolved.
Now the same has started happeneing for most of the MAC that we have and every morning I have login as local Admin and unbind / bind the MAC with the server. this gets reset once the user reboots or shutsdown.
Have tried with few of the below solution but nothing helped:
Solution 1:

The integer value is in seconds; changing it to at least 5 should allow the Mac OS X client to reconnect to the Active Directory domain after a network interruption. In some configurations, a larger timeout value may be required.
You can change this value by using the sudo command and a text editor to edit the preference file directly. Or you can use the Terminal command below, making sure to enter it all on a single line:
sudo /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c 'Set :mdns_timeout 5' /System/Library/SystemConfiguration/IPMonitor.bundle/Contents/Info.plist
Solution 2:
I have seen all of the probable solutions and tried everything and still I am getting issues with 10.6.6 and after rebooting the Mac gets unbind. Or the Mac gets Network Accounts Available even when not accessing the list of users from AD. But the thing that I have done that has solved all my issues with AD on the Macs is to uncheck the box to search on all domains. For some reason I am seeing that when the Macs have this option checked, it searches through out the forest on the same domain controller more than once, so AD stops the handshaking of the authentication.
I hope this helps like it did on our Network, since then I have not seen the Macs lose the binding or slow SMB.

Steven Wells sent a fix and an explanation of problems with Macs losing their binding to Active Diretory:
Unchecking "Allow authentication from any domain in the forest" is working at our college. We have been beating our heads on this for about 2 terms, with no understanding of why it works in some places and not in others. When we found this working, our IT guy said that the Security SID is being duplicated, when it looks in other domain forest, and that is what is causing the problem. This is the first time I have found an explanation for the problem.

Solved it. Create a file in Textedit with the name 'auto_master' (no file extension) with the following contents:

Mehdi Mafi forwarded a fix he found for problems with Leopard and Snow Leopard binding to Active Directory:
This was taken from Dane Riley's imaging building for DeployStudio.
With Mac OS X Leopard every Mac is now running a KDC (Kerberos Distribution Center). Basically each imaged machine is using the same security certificate and hash. Deploying a single image will deploy the same KDC to every system. This [Apple] article covers how to reset the local KDC so that each system is unique. Basically, do the following:
Launch Keychain Access
Search for com.apple.kerberos.kdc and delete all 3 items
Using Terminal type sudo rm -fr /var/db/krb5kdc
After deployment, perhaps using Apple Remote Desktop to all systems, re- establish the KDC by typing sudo /usr/libexec/configureLocalKDC

You may want to add this. If the Mac keeps unbinding from AD (people can't log in to a Mac), here is how to fix it:
Unbind it from Domain
Launch Keychain Access
Search for com.apple.kerberos.kdc and delete all 3 items
Using Terminal type sudo rm -fr /var/db/krb5kdc
Re-establish the KDC by typing sudo /usr/libexec/configureLocalKDC
Bind it to domain again ( When you bind, uncheck allow authentication from any domain in the forest in: Directory Utilitiy-> Advanced Options\Administrative ) this fix the issue that sometimes it can' find AD under search space.
If you tried this please let us know.
Solution 5:
For Snow Leopard AD login issues, use upper case domain
Solution 6: for .local
To create this StartupItem, create the following directory as root:
/Library/StartupItems/FixADAuth
Then chown it to root:wheel and chmod it to 755. These must also be the owner/permissions on the two files it will contain, below:

Obviously you'll need to change "middlewich.local" to your own domain name (and the network interface name if your connection is wireless). The script checks to see if it can see the user "Administrator" on the domain, as he's a fairly common bloke, but if you've renamed yours for security reasons then pick another one. I've also included some logging functionality for debug purposes, so you can verify how well the script is working if you need to and time it in your environment before telling the users how long to wait. The /var/log/FixADAuth.log file will contain the date/time the process started, the success variable set to 1 (just to verify), how many DNS operations were required to fix the problem, and the date/time it ended. For us the time difference is normally about +30-40 seconds with around 120-180 operations taking place. Once you're happy with the script, you can strip it down to its bare functionality if you like, like so for us:

Resetting the id of dynamically generated JSF custom command link

I have a java faces page which displays data from an arraylist.
This list is populated when user inputs data in the input text field and clicks "Add Group" button.
The arralylist consist of another arraylist within the former.
I have created a custom command link for the former arraylist.
As an user can add data to the arraylist so can he remove it from the arraylist.
The command link has a method binding "closeTask" which is invoked when command link is clicked.
This action removes the clicked element from the arraylist and displays the fresh list.
The key field from the bean in the former arraylist is set in request, and is retrieved in the "closeTask" method to be assigned to the command link output text id (i.e. it identifies the element that is to be deleted from the arraylist).
This functionality does not work as expected, i.e. command link component is not created/rendered during deletion as it is created while addition.
As a result eventhough the element is removed from the arraylist, the id corresponding to the fresh arraylist is not refreshed and for further actions correct id is not passed and the deletion function does not work.
How can I have resolve this problem?

Custom Command - Invoke a link file

Hi All,
I was able to write custom command that could invoke an exe file in the device. The exe file had to be present in the Windows folder (or) root folder (or) Oracle Lite installation folder.
Is the only file that could be invoked by System.execute method are "exe" files. Can I invoke any link or batch files in Windows Mobile, so that would be helpful in invoking my java programs instead of having to invoke exe.

We are able to launch a .bat file using the System.execute("cmd /C \test.bat") call from a customize command.
Though cmd.exe is not available in Windows Mobile 6 prof by default. It can be installed from the windows mobile developer power toys.
We need to do a registry tweak to get it working.
We were trying to launch a batch file from custom command because we want to launch a java program whenever a custom command is sent from the mobile server.
We are also successful in launching a java program directly without using cmd.exe as following:

Is there is a workaround available to get it working ?
We have to re-install the j9 to a folder whose folder path does not contain spaces to get it working.

Custom command to strip all except specified tags / parameters using javascript or regex?

I'm trying to figure out how to create a custom command that will allow me to strip all tags from a page except for those I specify, and will only allow the parameters that I specify for the remaining tags. It seems to me that it should be achievable either with a custom command using javascript, or by simply recording a command and doing a search and replace with regex.
I'm not familiar with javascript, so I've been trying the latter route, but I'm open to help with either method (or for that matter, any other method that will allow me to perform this with just a couple of mouse clicks, and no need to initiate a long sequence of commands manually every time).
The tags I'd like to retain are:
p
br
ul
ol
li
a
table
tr
td
Any tags other than the above would need to be stripped. For the tags above, I'd obviously want to retain opening and closing tags, and I'd also want to allow href and target parameters for the a tag. I would want to strip all other parameters from these tags, though.
I got partway into this, in that I managed to make regex that finds all the tags apart from the above, but hadn't yet gotten to trying to strip the unwanted parameters:

This validates on the online version of RegExr (http://gskinner.com/RegExr/), and finds all tags apart from the above correctly as far as I can see. However, it doesn't work in Dreamweaver's Find box with Use Regular Expression checked, reporting "Invalid Quantifier".
...and this is as far as I've gotten. If anybody can offer help, it'd be much appreciated!

Thanks, Barry. Paste Special is what I'm currently doing, but as you can imagine, it's mighty tedious cleaning up the formatting by hand on every single document, when the formatting I need is all there to start with in a regular paste -- just along with a bunch of extraneous formatting. With as many as a dozen or more documents to do each day, some with lengthy, nested lists and many bits of formatting that I need to keep, it's a bit soul destroying to have to do it manually.
It must be possible with Javascript, but my problem is I'm not a Javascript coder and would need to learn from scratch. It's likely possible with regex too, but my issue there is that Dreamweaver's version of Regex seems to be cut down from the version all of the regex validators I could find online use. I came fairly close to having something workable done entirely with regex when I last looked at this a couple of months back, and it validated just fine (only remaining quirk was to do with some attributes I didn't need, but that was probably solvable.) Unfortunately, although it validated in multiple online tools, Dreamweaver refused to accept it as valid.
I've since found a (very old) Dreamweaver Command extension that partially works, incidentally, and could perhaps be extended to do what I need -- but again, it would require me to understand code I simply don't, as yet.

The Remove Tags Except command there mostly works, but it seems to have an issue with nested tags that throws up an error message, and it also doesn't have a way for me to specify which attributes to keep, just which tags. Other than that it's close to ideal though -- the only other way it could be improved would be if I could kludge it to simply run straight away with a predetermined exclusions file, rather than making me manually select and load the exclusions every time.

Hi. I'm having a weird experience on opening document using
the Microsoft word 2008 application in MAC OS X.
To be specific on what is the scope of my application.
What I'm trying to do is run or simulate my application on appletviewer on a certain pop-up HTML
document. The first part of my statement block on my code doing well on
executing the downloading process of a file and save it on local machine.
This portion of works fine.
But the thing that I'm having some difficulties is
whenever i Re-opened the downloaded file from my local machine
that is being downloaded from my server.
I'm trying to established a checking or triggering pattern that the
file from my local machine was modified or not.

Now the weird things happen here.
The file was able to opened- as I wanted to, but when a made changes or not doing anything.
The Microsoft Word 2008 application on the MAC Activity Monitor. The instance was still alive or
keep running and I execute MAC commands being implement on the Process on the Terminal and it still
stuck in that thing. which means I have to manually kill the process of the said application on
the GUI part of Task Manager of MAC and my 2nd statement on the if replies.
Any thoughts will glady appreciated.

Deployment using Custom Commands

Howdy all,
I'm trying to create customized shortcuts to the Test Executive User Interface other than the default one(s) available to the Deployment utility. I found a way to do this without having to download a separate application or add-on using the VBScript capabilities in Windows/XP. The problem I'm having is that the deployment utility will execute the batch file, but returns an exit code of 1. when I run the batch file manually, it works just fine. I'm using TestStand 3.5 and a modified version of the Deployment utility that doesn't update sequence paths, but that should not have an effect on this.
My batch file consists of the following lines:

When I run this using the deployment tool I get the following message when the batch file tries to execute the CreateShortcut.vbs file:
'CreateShortcut.vbs' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
Can anyone explain to me why this doesn't want to work in the Deployment tool, but it does work if I run it manually?

Your suggestion helped me figure out what is going on. I believe there may be a feature/bug in the way the Deployment utility runs commands. I'm having the files installed in the Temp directory Installation Destination and using the <Temp> Command Directory in the Custom Commands to tell it where the files are to execute. This temp directory path resolves to "C:\Documents and Settings\<User Account>\Local Settings\Temp\". I neglected to add the path to the CreateShortcut.vbs file because I assumed that the batch file could find it since it's in the same directory as the batch file. But for some reason, it is looking for the file on the Installer drive and path for Setup.exe (see attached file), instead of the <Temp> path. This may be default windows behavior, but it seems odd that this is what happens.
I was able to get this to work using the "%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp\CreateShortcut.vbs" in the batch file.

Somewhere at either Macworld or here I learned that DVDSP 2, DVDSP 3 and now DVDSP 4 "internally" are major re-writes.
Support for HD among a few other items along with QT 7 which comes with Tiger means sincerely that one set of applications/OS is not going to be stable.
Personally I think of all the issues possible its DVDSP vs QT.
Unless you move to DVDSP v4 the alternative is to wipe the disk and go back to Jaguar (10.2) or perhaps Panther but avoid upgrading QT beyond 6. I advocate wiping the disk because I'n not sure an archive and install to down shift to an earlier version of the OS is possible. If it is I'd still worry about mis-matched files in all sorts of locations.

If the "it" refers to a compressed (zipped) spreadsheet that you downloaded, the ".ods" extension is used by LibreOffice and probably OpenOffice (which are free versions of MS Office) for spreadsheets, which would suggest that wherever you're getting that "Excel" file from has switched to one of those programs. I've tried opening an .ods file from LibreOffice using MS Office 2013 for Windows and it does open though with a warning that some things have been changed. I don't know if Office for Mac can normally open .ods files. But if your need is to just open .ods files, take a look at LibreOffice.
