Custom communications settings for an Apple LaserWriter

I have an Apple LaserWriter 16/600 up and running on Mac OS 10.4.11 and I want to set some custom communications settings by using the configuration switch on the back. (The switch is currently in the down position for standard settings.)
I have the Apple Printer Utility-PPC from OS 9 and I have Classic open but No luck getting things to work.
What more do I need to do?
Any suggestions?

O.K. Grant,
I was just in OS 9, opened the Chooser, selected Laserwriter 8 icon, and it found my Laserwriter 16/600 (which i have hooked up). And choosing Setup>Auto Select, it found the "Laserwriter 16/600 PS" PPD.
I've been trying to download, install and understand this Laserwriter 8.5 thing but, looking in my Extensions>Printer Descriptions folder, I see this "LaserWriter 8500 PPD v1.2" is already there. And I can use Chooser>Setup>SelectPPD to redo my Laserwriter using that PPD.
So, some of my confusion may be cleared up but, this is probably more than I needed to figure out.

If you have Location Services turned on turn this off, then follow steps below:
Go to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Your_Apple_ID>View Apple ID
When you tap your Apple ID and select View Apple ID you'll need to enter your password, once done you can change the Apple Store.

What are the best Custom video settings for creating a QT video via iMovie for use with the iPod? That is to say, I want to d/l from a Camcorder and then convert that to Quicktime...ultimately to be played on the iPod.

Cannot Change Custom Import Settings For AAC's

Last night I changed the custom import settings from 192 kbps to 160 kbps for a particular mp3 album I wanted to convert with that bitrate. I tried to change the custom settings back to 192 kbps (the bitrate most of my mp3's & wma's are in). For some reason, the window that came up many times before refuses to pop up now. I tried the custom settings for mp3's and that window still pops up. Anyway, I tried a repair and nothing happened. I uninstalled iTunes, Quicktime, Bonjour, and Apple Software Updates, deleted there corresponding folders in C:/Program Files and then restarted the computer. I downloaded the iTunes 9 installer through the iTunes website and proceeded to reinstall iTunes. Still, the problem exists. I'm not sure what else to do? The only other thing I can think of is to do the same except install iTunes 8 instead and then search for updates and reinstall iTunes 9 that way. Would anyone know of any other method on solving my problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Custom Picture Settings for Insignia 42" NS-L42Q-10A

Does anyone wish to share their custom picture settings (contrast, brightness etc.) for the Insignia 42" NS-L42Q-10A? The vivid default is to bright, so I have been trying to come up with a custom setting and would like to hear what has worked for other owners.

Well, it turns out that I neglected to include a critical piece of info in my post. This behavior was occuring when using my Harmony 550 remote with the Insignia TV.
I tested the behavior with the remote that came with the TV and the settings were saved. So I went to change the settings on my Harmony remote when I discovered Logictech had a software update that included the Insignia TV. Installing that update fixed the issue.
And in case anyone else reads this, I am very pleased with this television set. I had to learn a few things about HDTV first though to get everything out of it that it offers.

Custom Sequence Settings for Split Screen

Hello all,
FCP 6. I am doing a split screen where I am combining two 720x480 videos side by side. I did the whole project by scaling down both videos to match whatever the sequence settings were. How can I create a custom canvas/ sequence size to avoid scaling down the frames and cutting on the image quality?
I created a custom sequence setting doubling the width to 1440 and keeping height at 480.
Can I copy and paste the clips from the old sequence without the scaled down quality to the new sequence? How can I do that?
If I open a new sequence is the new setting going to be in effect?
Any other suggestions on how to deal with custom size frame/ split screen?

Thank you for help! Does make sense. I did all like you suggested. After removing 'basic motion' and pasting into new sequence, the clips appeared big default size instead of small. I re-applied motion attribute like you said, but isn't it scaling down again since I am sizing from big to small (50%) again?
It looks good on the screen but I am not sure about actual resolution of the clip. In clip-item properties-format I read frame size but I am not sure if this info is about the source file or the clip.
I would like to get around this issue without scaling down (keeping the scale in motion tab at 100%).
The way I tried to deal with the scaling and res before I got your answer, was after I changed the 'global' settings for the custom 1440x480 sequence, and after creating a new sequence, I went to sequence settings again (from top menu) and set to custom (1440x480) (with just global settings the pasted clips looked like before). After copying and pasting with removed attributes-distort, all was in the original right/left order normal size and resolution.
The way I tried seems to meet my need (as pasting attributes-motion to all again would be complicated as the design of the project does not stick to the clearly left/right pattern but fluctuates back and forth at times and there is too many short clips).
The only problem I have now is with the RENDER.
After I rendered what I did to your suggested solution and mine (two sequences), the whole project shows in low res. I checked the render settings in Sequence-Render Control, and both resolution and frame rate are set to 100% so I dont know what I do wrong.
Any suggestions??

How do you add a custom avatar pic for the Apple Support account?

I've noticed some people have their own pics for their avatar, not offered in the pics section when you customize your profile settings. I looked for an option to upload a custom profile pic, but couldn't find it; I only managed to find the option for uploading a profile photo, not a custom avatar pic. Thanks in advance.

The ability to add a custom avatar becomes available once you reach Level 3 (=500 points).

Customer communication date for items on allocation hold

When a product is on allocation hold, the order confirmation to the customer, which is communicated via email or fax, is showing a delivery date. This delivery date is usually wrong since the allocation hold is overriding the schedule line.
what is a good date to communicate for all items on allocation hold? "Unconfirmed Delivery Date" ??

Can you make it more clear on the ,
When product is on HOLD It means is it product allocated to some other Order /customer?
Or Is it in stores (Ready for sale) , whenever you want someone has to allow this stock to that order?
If it is 2 one: You can do Re-scheduling V_V2 then you send mail/fax to customer.
It may give promt date for your customer(If you keen on you capacity)

Save custom drum settings for Drummer track?

Hi guys. Wondering if there is a way to save the Drummer region settings from one project and use them in another project without manually setting things like complex, loud, fills, etc. THanks.

"Save Drummer Presets" is a feature that is only available in Logic but not in GarageBand. Here is screenshot with both GarageBand and Logic open. You can see that the Action Menu (the one with the gear icon) is not available in GarageBand.
The good news is (in case you use Logic and GarageBand), all the Drummer Prests you save in Logic are also available in the Presets Menu in GarageBand. They are stored in the the following directory:
~/Music/Audio Music Apps/Drummer/Presets/"Name of the Drummer"/.... .dpst
The presets are stored as XML files with the file extension .dpst.
If you have a Logic friend who can saved cool presets, you can copy his files into your Drummer folder and GarageBand can see them. If you more interested in a "science project", you can duplicate a dpst file, open it in BBEdit and edit your Preset numerically.
A lot of details and more information (from basic to more advanced) about GarageBand are found in my new manual "GarageBand X - How it Works", the only comprehensive manual available for GarageBand.

this is a bit of a long shot, but try using a mini DVI>DVI adapter attached to a DVI>HDMI cable connected to your HDTV. this is how i connect my 17" Intel iMac to my 42" Sony.

ITunes looses photo sync settings for Apple TV (1st gen.)

Since the update to the new Photo app on my Mac, iTunes forgets the photo sync settings for my Apple TV (1st. generation, 160 GB HDD).
Every time I open the photo section of the Apple TV sync settings, all the options are turned off. Then I mark a couple of albums and sync the Apple TV >> all album appear on the Apple TV.
But after closing and re-opening iTunes in the photo settings everything is unmarked again. So on every following sync the photos on the Apple TV are easily erased :-( Resync them to the Apple TV takes hours (>30'000 photos!).
All the other sync settings in iTunes remain intact.
Environment:
- MacBook Pro Retina 15" with the latest SW (Mac OS, iTunes, Photo App, etc.)
- Apple TV 1st gen 160 GB HDD

Restarting iTunes resolves the issue in the majority of cases, if it doesn't my second guess would be your security software.
What really seems strange here is that there have been no updates since well before Xmas, so after initially setting it up, the first update would have brought you right up to the most recent (and indeed the very last) .
Agh, how silly of me, I see it's iTunes you have updated.
If that's about all you've changed, you might want to try reinstalling iTunes and bonjour.

Apple LaserWriter 16/600 PS with Win 7 (64bit): Looking for driver software

Hello,
can anybody tell me where to find the driver software for the Apple LaserWriter 16/600 PS connected to my Windows PC running Windows 7 (64Bit). With Win XP there was no problem at all, the printer got connected via plug and play, whereas with Win 7 I can't get it to work.
If there is no original WIN7 compatible driver version available, is there any other printer driver that could be used instead.
Any help is very much appreciated.

Custom Equalizer settings lost

Guys,
I had designed custom equalizer settings for my "tunes" to match my hearing loss. I believe somewhere in updating my iTunes application they were lost. They no longer appear in the selection window of the equalizer. Any body know how to get them back? iTunes v10.1.2. Thanks.

I am having the exact same problem. A number of my older files seem to have kept their custom settings, but not newer ones. I think it may have something to do with the EQ.plist file in the preferences folder in my library.
Does anyone know what the best way of resetting that file is and whether that will fix the problem?

Hi Hitesh,
Please ensure the following settings.
1) While defining the planning book, ensure the key figure for expost forecast is maintained
2) Maintain Customer-Specific Settings for Outlier Correction in customisation
3) The planning area needs to be initialised with the characteristics and key figures
4) While maintaining the forecast profile, under univariate forecast profile tab, select Ex-Post Method in the Outlier Correction field.
When you execute a forecast, the system:
1.      Carries out a forecast with the chosen model using the u2018rawu2019 historical data. It calculates an ex-post forecast for all historical values.
2.      Checks the periods in the initial phase (Customizing setting, default 3 periods) against the ex-post forecast. If the historical value is outside the tolerance lane the system corrects the value to either the ex-post value or the nearest boundary of the tolerance lane.
3.      After the initial phase, if it has found and corrected an outlier, the system carries out another ex-post forecast and calculates MAD again. You can specify whether the system uses the local MAD (the value calculated up to and including the current period) or the global MAD. You can also specify in Customizing how many periods have to be free of outliers before the system calculates the ex-post forecast again. The default is 2.
Customizing
You can save the above settings user-specifically in Customizing under Advanced Planning and Optimization ® Supply Chain Planning ® Demand Planning ® Basic Settings ®Maintain User-Specific Settings for Outlier Correction. If a user does not have their own settings, those of DEFAULT_USER are used. It is possible to change these system defaults.
