Custom control color property

With the included controls like the OK boolean you can change the true or false color by going to Properties >> Apperance >>Colors. Then click the color box to change the state color. Is it possible to do the same with a custom boolean control?
I have searched some and it does not sound like it is possible, but I figured that I would ask. I have a diagram where I used some pipes from the DSC module image navigator to make some boolean pipes. I just changed the properties for the different colors then pasted them into a boolean control for true/false cases. But now I am thinking of changing the colors from gray/red to gray/green. Is there an easier way than just starting over and making new booleans with the desired colors? Or is there a better trick for custom controls I don't know?

Here is a sample of the control as a type def and a vi with the Colors(4) property cluster. I must be doing this wrong or not explaining it correctly. So if you could look at the files and be able straighten me out I would appreciate it.

Custom control color changes

I need to change a boolean control color based on certain cases. This is simple, I would normally just wire up a color array to the boolean property node and set the false color to be green, yellow, or red (whichever was needed). However, the control needs to be trapezoid shaped. Is there a way to change the shape of the control without importing images from clipboard? If I copy a custom image from clipboard, it is placed over the boolean control so the properties will be useless (i.e. the user can't see them). What would be best is if I could just take the normal, rectangular boolean images and make select parts of it transparent so it takes on a trapezoid shape. Suggestions?

Don't we all. Now I am having a problem...again. When I overlay the image, I click the boolean but its not registering for some reason. Am I just brainfarting here? If I click real fast, eventually it gets it. It's set to latch when released and is a type def.

Property binding between custom control and its aggregations

Hi,
I have a custom control with some properties, e.g., visible, and I would like to bind these properties to its aggregated controls without losing the two-way binding functionality. For example, imagine the following control:

So in this example, I would like to bind the "visible" property of the _innerTable to the "visible" property of MyControl without losing two-way binding. That means that I do not want to read the "visible" property once in a constructor or so and set it on the inner table. Instead I want _innerTable to react on changes of the "visible" property of MyControl so that I can bind it, for example, with "visible={/model/visible}" on an instance of MyControl and _innerTable changes when the model changes.
Does anyone know if such a "piping" or "chaining" of properties is possible and how it would be done?

It's close to my case, but you pass the label to your custom control from outside, where you also perform the data binding. In this case, you know which path should be bound to the label property.
In my case, the control is hidden inside my control, so I do not know which path from the model should be bound to the inner control. I want to somehow connect the property of my control with the property of the inner control.
So taking part of your example, the control would look like:

map_backend_to_xi to resolve the scenario.
If SOA is used to transfer PR, I am afraid that we have to use SOA mapping badi /sapsrm/bd_soa_mapping method MAP_BACKEND_TO_XI to realize your requirement.

Changing colours of Custom Controls

I've made a custom control by adding a logo to a standard boolean square button. I want to be able to change the colour of the background (the light/dark green). How do I do this? I have tried using the colours[4] property attribute, but although this reports that the colour has been changed, the control remains unaffected.

I think the problem lies in how you have imported your image. Rather than importing the image as a decal, you have actually replaced the images on the control with it, which will of course prevent you from changing their colors.
When you initially edit the control, don't switch into edit mode (the tweezers). Leave the control in customize mode (the wrench).
Select Edit->Import Picture From file and find your image, note that you should probably try to create an image with a transparent background.
Right Click on the button and select Import Picture->Decal.
That should place your picture on the button, without modifying the background of the button, now you can change the background statically, or dynamically. I'm attaching a control that uses a decal in the middle. You can replace the boolean in the VI I posted previously with it to see the desired result.

Fully custom controls

Hello:
I have struggled with this off and on for several years now. I need to build custom controls for industrial automation applications using LabVIEW and the DSC module. I need the ability to fully customize the appearance of the existing controls while maintinaing color and blink properties. It would also be nice to preserve smooth control apearance when resizing.
I have figured out how to acheive transparency using Photoshop CS and png files. Other information is obviously lost when an image in a custom control is changed.
Since the built-in controls scale smothly, can I assume that they are vector graphics based? Can their images be better edited using a vector-based tool?
Is there a special channel which allows for color properties to be applied to a control's image? Is it possible to manipulate this into custom controls?
In general, I would like to know how to edit graphics for custom controls so that I can maintain the original ability to use property nodes to control the appearance of a custom control.

Thank you for the link. It dies answer some of my wuestions, but still leaves me without a solution. Can you provide more information on the "picture in c code" format? I can not find any information on it online. I am a C++ and C# programmer, but I am not familiar with PICC.
Is it possible to access the source code for the controls included with LabVIEW and truly customize them?

Custom Control Help: Draw a line and output start and end points

I'm looking to find or make a custom control (or simple subVI) that will appear as a 100x100 unit grid and allow me to draw a line from one point to another on that grid. It will then output the (x,y) of the starting and end point of that line on the grid. Any help or ideas?

What you basically want is a loop with an event structure where you process Mouse Down, Move and Up events for your controls. There are any number of ways of implementing something like this, but this one will probably be the simplest:
Use a multicolumn listbox or a table for your grid. Hide the scrollbars and headers.
You can use the ActiveCell property with -2,-2 to select all cells. You can then use the cell size property to set the exact size of the cell.
Next, you put a picture control on top of the table and color its background transparent so that the table shows through. You use property node to make sure the two are aligned to exactly the same spot and size.
You use the mouse events on the picture control to detect the clicks and moves.
You use the table's Point to Row Column method to translate the event's position data to a cell.
You use the picture control VIs to draw the line on the picture based on that data.
You can even color the selected cells in the table using the table properties.
If you want to simplify things somewhat, you can also use the timeout event instead of the Mouse Move event to draw the line, but then you'll need to keep the timeout value in a shift register and reset it to -1 (no timeout) when the Mouse Up event happens.
I would also suggest processing Mouse Enter and Leave events to change the cursor and cancel if the user leaves in the middle of dragging.

Issue in Custom Control UI element

Hi there,
               I have created 2 custom controls(SAP mobile 7.1), one for rendering images(actually map images) and another for capturing user's signature. Both are integrated into the main application and works fine when alone. But when present together, certainly on different screens in the main app, still it works but with rendering problems. Say when navigating from the screen that displays the map custom control to the screen that has the signature capuring custom control, the map image is still getting displayed over the signature custom control view.
           I wonder , if the problem is with disposing of the custom control. Can anyone suggest how to do that. Or something else has to be done?

I do know disposing the SWT controls is important but not sure if it would solve your problem
from our application that uses a few simple custom controls together, we definitely needed to use dispose or it would cause memory consumption issues and slow performance
within the constructor

How to create a custom control of a button where the look will be applied to all others but not the Boolean text?

Hi all
I would like to create a customized button as a master so that if I change the look of the master all other buttons will change too.
I have done this with a custom control as a "strict type def" otherwise the look will not change BUT If I do this as a strict type def I cannot change the Boolean text anymore which should be different on every button.
How can I create a master control of a button where the look will be applied to all others but not the Boolean text?

As a workaround just make it a typedef. When you want to change the look open the typedef and make it strict, make your changes, then make it non strict again. You will have to update the Boolean text again for all instances. Kind of a pain. Maybe this is something for the idea exchange.

The project has a main form `Form1` where the user can enter customers in a datagridview. The `CustomerType` column is a custom control and when the user clicks the button, a search form `Form2` pops up.
The search form is populated with a list of type `CustomerType`. The user can select a record by double-clicking on the row, and this object should be set in the custom control. The `DataGridView` should then display the `Description` property but in the background
each cell should hold the value (ie. the `CustomerType` instance).

Issue in mapping custom user profile property with AD field in SharePoint 2013

I am trying to map a custom user profile property i created "ADSecurityGroups", type - String, Multivalue with the AD propoerty named "memberOf" via powershell.
UserProfile Service is up and running, and so is the Synchronization Service. User executing the powershell has full control on the User Profile Service and is the farm administrator.

Custom Control - Best place for visual-tree generation?

I'm building a custom control (extending Canvas) which should present a chartflow diagram (nodes and connectors). It will be feeded through databinding and a dependency property (ItemSource). The control will generate:
1. Node-items (based on ItemSource)
2. Connectors (lines) between each and every node
3. An adornerlayer on most of the nodes
Should I generate this visual/logical -tree inside my ItemSourceUpdated -eventhandler? In the overrided ArrangeOverride method? Or whats best practice?

Since you cant create adorners immediately after you have added a new elemented to the visual tree (and before the layout pass) your previous

How do you create a custom control which has several buttons?

Can you do this in LabView?
I want to make it so that one button will disable or switch the value/state of another. (Think minesweeper). I can create the logic in a subVI, but only if I have access to the property nodes of each of the buttons.
I want the front panel of the main VI to have the buttons on it, and I don't want the buttons to appear in a separate window.
If I place all of the buttons individually on the front panel of the main VI and pass their references to the subVI, I end up with tons and tons of variables in the main VI block diagram. It works but is very very messy.
I tried to create a custom control with a cluster of buttons in it, but I can't seem to get at the individual property nodes. Is it possible?

Hi Jen
Yes it is possible to get the individual property nodes of controls that are in a cluster.
You have a property Controls[] in the property node of the cluster, so you get an array of control references. You just have to extract the single references to access the controls.
I attached a screen-shot, which shows this possibility.

Data Binding for Custom Controls?

Hello,
I'm a little bit confused of how to use databinding for custom controls.
I know i can bind a property, as seen here http://help.sap.com/saphelp_uiaddon10/helpdata/en/91/f0f3cd6f4d1014b6dd926db0e91070/content.htm, but how can I map whole arrays?
My problem is the following:
I want to create a custom table control in SAPUI5 (as the default one doesn't provide the neccessary options and properties I need), but I can't seem to find an example how to bind "rows".
There has to be a way to do this properly. All I can think of now, and implemented, is, passing the name of the variable in the model...
var x = new my.controls.complex.table({data: "/status"});
var row1 = new my.controls.complex.columnHeaderRow();
row1.addColumn(new my.controls.complex.column({text: "", rowspan: "2", colspan: "1", content: "FIRST_COL"}));
x.addColumnsRow(row1);
x.placeAt("content");
...my JSON/model looks like:
{ "status": [ {"FIRST_COL": "a" , ...}, {"FIRST_COL": "b", ... }, ... ], ... }
(which should translate into /status/0/FIRST_COL, /status/1/FIRST_COL, ... AFAIK)
... and then I use this variable name by getting the application-wide model and use the variable passed as key for the model... (please note, this code is just a snippet)

...which still leaves me with the problem of to get an event to react to re-render on changes within the data model, as well as when there would be just an control-specific model, or just a sub-node within a model etc.
So my question is:
Is there a way/best practice to define data binding in a custom control and have a way to react on it, and how to react on data changes within a custom control?

I create a entirely new control, from sap.ui.core.Control.
sap.ui.core.Control.extend("my.controls.complex.table",{... });
I did define a aggregation...
        aggregations : { columnsRows: {type : "my.controls.complex.columnRow", multiple : true, visibility: "public"}     },
...yet I'm still unclear how I work with this aggregation and databinding. I know we can use the bindAggreation functionallity, but since the aggregation is a object (my.control.complex.columnRow) I don't know how my JSON model should be able to bind to that aggregation (as well as how would one be able to cascade a aggregation like this down futher? For example if there is an aggregation in the object of my aggregation?), plus it still doesn't solve my problem of how I can react (for example redraw) on model changes.
