Custom Controls and ALV

Hi,
I have created on one Dynpro 3 Custom Controls, which are
responsible for Three ALV Grid Reports.
I have named CC1 for ALV1 CC2 for ALV2 and CC3 for ALV3.
I can put the Data for each ALVs.
So far so good, but if I save the Layout global for one ALV and start the Program again, disappears me some Elements on other ALVs like Columns , Buttons etc...
I have used Method set_for_first_display.
Thanks for your Replies.
Best Regards
Beserithan Malabakan

Wha tis happening is the VARIANT parameter values that you are passing are the same for all the three grids. So, once you alter the layout of one its changing all the grids. What you need to do is to specify a unique name in the field HANDLE of the parameter VARIANT for each grid, say the grid name.
Then this problem will not occur and you will have variants specific to the grid.
It has nothing to do with the global / user defined layouts.

Ravi

• Problem with custom control and focus

I've a problem with the focus in a custom control that contains a TextField and some custom nodes.
If i create a form with some of these custom controls i'm not able to navigate through these fields by using the TAB key.
I've implemented a KeyEvent listener on the custom control and was able to grab the focus and forward it to the embedded TextField by calling requestFocus() on the TextField but the problem is that the TextField won't get rid of the focus anymore. Means if i press TAB the first embedded TextField will get the focus, after pressing TAB again the embedded TextField in the next custom control will get the focus AND the former focused TextField still got the focus!?
So i'm not able to remove the focus from an embeded TextField.
Any idea how to do this ?

Here you go, it contains the control, skin and behavior of the custom control, the css file and a test file that shows the problem...

- Fig. 6 doesn't agree with what's just above. This step isn't necessary because it can be create automatically when you make a class.
- Fig. 11 shows the package
sample.oracle.otn.soaessentials.javainteg
and the class should be placed in
sample.oracle.otn.soaessentials.javainteg.impl
- The Business Tier -> Spring 2.5 might not be available. Extensions steps steps should be given.

• Calling dialog program screen in custom control and using drag n drop

Hi Experts,
SCENARIO:
I have a custom container control. I want to insert a dialog program screen in custom container control in one half and tree nodes in the other half.
Now my dialog screen has a table control. I want that the user can drag n drop the nodes in the cells of my table control.
Please help.

I don't think drag n drop works in table control. You may need to change table control to ALV grid control.

• Property binding between custom control and its aggregations

Hi,
I have a custom control with some properties, e.g., visible, and I would like to bind these properties to its aggregated controls without losing the two-way binding functionality. For example, imagine the following control:
sap.ui.core.Control.extend('dev.view.control.MyControl', {
      metadata: {
        properties: {
          'visible': {type: 'boolean', defaultValue: false},
        aggregations : {
          _innerTable : {type : 'sap.m.Table', multiple : false, visibility: 'hidden'}
So in this example, I would like to bind the "visible" property of the _innerTable to the "visible" property of MyControl without losing two-way binding. That means that I do not want to read the "visible" property once in a constructor or so and set it on the inner table. Instead I want _innerTable to react on changes of the "visible" property of MyControl so that I can bind it, for example, with "visible={/model/visible}" on an instance of MyControl and _innerTable changes when the model changes.
Does anyone know if such a "piping" or "chaining" of properties is possible and how it would be done?

It's close to my case, but you pass the label to your custom control from outside, where you also perform the data binding. In this case, you know which path should be bound to the label property.
In my case, the control is hidden inside my control, so I do not know which path from the model should be bound to the inner control. I want to somehow connect the property of my control with the property of the inner control.
So taking part of your example, the control would look like:
sap.ui.core.Control.extend('xcontrol', {
      metadata: {
        properties: {
          'visible': {type: 'boolean', defaultValue: true}
        aggregations : {
          _header : {type : 'sap.m.Label', multiple : false, visibility: 'hidden'}
      init: function() {
        this.setAggregation('_header', new sap.m.Label({
          visible: <????>
      renderer: function(oRm, oControl) {
        oRm.write("<div");
        oRm.writeControlData(oControl);
        var header = oControl.getAggregation('_header');
        if (header) {
          oRm.renderControl(header);
        oRm.write('</div>');
At point <????> I want to somehow bind the visible attribute of the label to the visible property of xcontrol without losing the two-way binding, i.e., the label should react on changes of the visible property just like xcontrol would.

• Printing a Table Control AND ALV grid from same report

Hello,
I am trying to figure out how to print the output of my report, which consist of a table control and a OO-driven ALV grid under it. i tried several possibilities but I only get the ALV in my spool....?
Answers will be rewarded !

Keep a break point in that method. Press print in the ALV, check it stops in the break point. If yes then you can use write statement, the values what ever u r writing it come in the print-out. If the control doesn't stop in the break point then there is some problem in the method declartion.
Check my code - I written every thing in the global declaration.

• How to have custom control in DataGridView display object's value?

I have a sample project located
here
The project has a main form `Form1` where the user can enter customers in a datagridview. The `CustomerType` column is a custom control and when the user clicks the button, a search form `Form2` pops up.
The search form is populated with a list of type `CustomerType`. The user can select a record by double-clicking on the row, and this object should be set in the custom control. The `DataGridView` should then display the `Description` property but in the background
each cell should hold the value (ie. the `CustomerType` instance).
The relevant code is located in the following classes:
The column class:
public class DataGridViewCustomerTypeColumn : DataGridViewColumn
public DataGridViewCustomerTypeColumn()
: base(new CustomerTypeCell())
public override DataGridViewCell CellTemplate
get { return base.CellTemplate; }
set
if (value != null && !value.GetType().IsAssignableFrom(typeof(CustomerTypeCell)))
throw new InvalidCastException("Should be CustomerTypeCell.");
base.CellTemplate = value;
The cell class:
public class CustomerTypeCell : DataGridViewTextBoxCell
public CustomerTypeCell()
: base()
public override void InitializeEditingControl(int rowIndex, object initialFormattedValue, DataGridViewCellStyle dataGridViewCellStyle)
base.InitializeEditingControl(rowIndex, initialFormattedValue, dataGridViewCellStyle);
CustomerTypeSearch ctl = DataGridView.EditingControl as CustomerTypeSearch;
if (this.Value == null)
ctl.Value = (CustomerType)this.DefaultNewRowValue;
else
ctl.Value = (CustomerType)this.Value;
public override Type EditType
get { return typeof(CustomerTypeSearch); }
public override Type ValueType
get { return typeof(CustomerType); }
public override object DefaultNewRowValue
get { return null; }
And the custom control:
public partial class CustomerTypeSearch : UserControl, IDataGridViewEditingControl
private DataGridView dataGridView;
private int rowIndex;
private bool valueChanged = false;
private CustomerType value;
public CustomerTypeSearch()
InitializeComponent();
public CustomerType Value
get { return this.value; }
set
this.value = value;
if (value != null)
textBoxSearch.Text = value.Description;
else
textBoxSearch.Clear();
private void buttonSearch_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
Form2 f = new Form2();
DialogResult dr = f.ShowDialog(this);
if (dr == DialogResult.OK)
Value = f.SelectedValue;
#region IDataGridViewEditingControl implementation
public object EditingControlFormattedValue
get
if (this.value != null)
return this.value.Description;
else
return null;
set
if (this.value != null)
this.value.Description = (string)value;
public object GetEditingControlFormattedValue(DataGridViewDataErrorContexts context)
return EditingControlFormattedValue;
public void ApplyCellStyleToEditingControl(DataGridViewCellStyle dataGridViewCellStyle)
this.BorderStyle = BorderStyle.None;
this.Font = dataGridViewCellStyle.Font;
public int EditingControlRowIndex
get { return rowIndex; }
set { rowIndex = value; }
public bool EditingControlWantsInputKey(Keys key, bool dataGridViewWantsInputKey)
return false;
public void PrepareEditingControlForEdit(bool selectAll)
//No preparation needs to be done
public bool RepositionEditingControlOnValueChange
get { return false; }
public DataGridView EditingControlDataGridView
get { return dataGridView; }
set { dataGridView = value; }
public bool EditingControlValueChanged
get { return valueChanged; }
set { valueChanged = value; }
public Cursor EditingPanelCursor
get { return base.Cursor; }
#endregion
private void CustomerTypeSearch_Resize(object sender, EventArgs e)
buttonSearch.Left = this.Width - buttonSearch.Width;
textBoxSearch.Width = buttonSearch.Left;
However, the `DataGridView` is not displaying the text and it also is not keeping the `CustomerType` value for each cell.
What am I missing?
Marketplace: Itza - Review: Itza Update

Hello,
1. To display the text, we need to override the ToString method for CustomerType
public class CustomerType
public int Id { get; set; }
public string Description { get; set; }
public CustomerType(int id, string description)
this.Id = id;
this.Description = description;
public override string ToString()
return this.Description.ToString();
2. To get the cell's value changed, we could pass the cell instance to that editing control and get its value changed with the following way.
public partial class CustomerTypeSearch : UserControl, IDataGridViewEditingControl
private DataGridView dataGridView;
private int rowIndex;
private bool valueChanged = false;
private CustomerTypeCell currentCell = null;
public CustomerTypeCell OwnerCell
get { return currentCell; }
set
currentCell = null;
currentCell = value;
public CustomerTypeSearch()
InitializeComponent();
private void buttonSearch_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
Form2 f = new Form2();
DialogResult dr = f.ShowDialog(this);
if (dr == DialogResult.OK)
currentCell.Value = f.SelectedValue;
this.textBoxSearch.Text = f.SelectedValue.Description;
#region IDataGridViewEditingControl implementation
public object EditingControlFormattedValue
get
if (this.currentCell.Value != null)
return (this.currentCell.Value as CustomerType).Description;
else
return null;
set
if (this.currentCell != null)
(this.currentCell.Value as CustomerType).Description = (string)value;
public object GetEditingControlFormattedValue(DataGridViewDataErrorContexts context)
return EditingControlFormattedValue;
public void ApplyCellStyleToEditingControl(DataGridViewCellStyle dataGridViewCellStyle)
this.BorderStyle = BorderStyle.None;
this.Font = dataGridViewCellStyle.Font;
public int EditingControlRowIndex
get { return rowIndex; }
set { rowIndex = value; }
public bool EditingControlWantsInputKey(Keys key, bool dataGridViewWantsInputKey)
return false;
public void PrepareEditingControlForEdit(bool selectAll)
//No preparation needs to be done
public bool RepositionEditingControlOnValueChange
get { return false; }
public DataGridView EditingControlDataGridView
get { return dataGridView; }
set { dataGridView = value; }
public bool EditingControlValueChanged
get { return valueChanged; }
set { valueChanged = value; }
public Cursor EditingPanelCursor
get { return base.Cursor; }
#endregion
private void CustomerTypeSearch_Resize(object sender, EventArgs e)
buttonSearch.Left = this.Width - buttonSearch.Width;
textBoxSearch.Width = buttonSearch.Left;

hi vinod,
u can use the class <b>cl_gui_picture</b> to work around with pictures on the screen
just define a custom control on the screen
create an object of custom container.
create another object of cl_gui_picture giving container name as the parent name...
u can check out the class using the transn se24....
pls post if additional info is required...

• Data Binding for Custom Controls?

Hello,
I'm a little bit confused of how to use databinding for custom controls.
I know i can bind a property, as seen here http://help.sap.com/saphelp_uiaddon10/helpdata/en/91/f0f3cd6f4d1014b6dd926db0e91070/content.htm, but how can I map whole arrays?
My problem is the following:
I want to create a custom table control in SAPUI5 (as the default one doesn't provide the neccessary options and properties I need), but I can't seem to find an example how to bind "rows".
There has to be a way to do this properly. All I can think of now, and implemented, is, passing the name of the variable in the model...
var x = new my.controls.complex.table({data: "/status"});
var row1 = new my.controls.complex.columnHeaderRow();
row1.addColumn(new my.controls.complex.column({text: "", rowspan: "2", colspan: "1", content: "FIRST_COL"}));
x.addColumnsRow(row1);
x.placeAt("content");
...my JSON/model looks like:
{ "status": [ {"FIRST_COL": "a" , ...}, {"FIRST_COL": "b", ... }, ... ], ... }
(which should translate into /status/0/FIRST_COL, /status/1/FIRST_COL, ... AFAIK)
... and then I use this variable name by getting the application-wide model and use the variable passed as key for the model... (please note, this code is just a snippet)
           var sapCore = sap.ui.getCore();
                if (sapCore !== undefined) {
                 var model = sapCore.getModel().getObject();
                 if (model === undefined || model == [] || model == null){ } else {
                  $.each(model, function(idx, item){
                   $.each(oControl.getColumnsRows(), function(idx, item2) {
                    $.each(item2.getColumns(), function(idx, item3){
                     var content = item3.getContent();
                     if (content !== undefined && content != ""){
                      outpLine = outpLine + "<td>" + model[idx][content] + "</td>";
...which still leaves me with the problem of to get an event to react to re-render on changes within the data model, as well as when there would be just an control-specific model, or just a sub-node within a model etc.
So my question is:
Is there a way/best practice to define data binding in a custom control and have a way to react on it, and how to react on data changes within a custom control?
Thanks & KR
Chris

I create a entirely new control, from sap.ui.core.Control.
sap.ui.core.Control.extend("my.controls.complex.table",{... });
I did define a aggregation...
            aggregations : { columnsRows: {type : "my.controls.complex.columnRow", multiple : true, visibility: "public"}     },
...yet I'm still unclear how I work with this aggregation and databinding. I know we can use the bindAggreation functionallity, but since the aggregation is a object (my.control.complex.columnRow) I don't know how my JSON model should be able to bind to that aggregation (as well as how would one be able to cascade a aggregation like this down futher? For example if there is an aggregation in the object of my aggregation?), plus it still doesn't solve my problem of how I can react (for example redraw) on model changes.
Thanks in advance,
Chris

• Adding commandLink to custom control

I'm trying to create a custom control.
I want to add a commandLink but really don't know how to bind to an action defined in the faces-config file. The commandLink is just link for navigation.
I've put my code for the controle in de encodeBegins because i don't really need to use different renderers.
How can i add the commandLink to my custom control and bind it to an action?
THe action hasn't to be defined in an argument but is hard coded for now.
I hope it's clear what i need....

Hi Poorna,
       Thanks for the reply.
       I have to add field to the txn QM02. User will specify the value for the custom field in this txn and the same should be updated in the database table.
       The field is not a std SAP field, it is added to the table using append structure.
Thanks,
Punit

• Custom control: slider with two needles

I've been using LabVIEW for some years, and I was able to create a lot of custom controls.
I know that CVI is doesn't allow me such a level of customization, but I don't know if there is a simple and effective way to create a slider controls with two needles (based on the Vertical Pointer Slide for example).
I used two different overlapped slides, and they behave more or less as I expected (not fully satisfied, but ...). I need placing a lot of these controls in a panel, so I wonder if I can group the two slides in a custom control, and write some c code to interface with them (if I select Create >>Custom control, I can't select two different controls...)
Is there another way to create a slider control with two needles?

Using LV 2013 SP1 on Win 7 64bit
Using LV 8.2.1 on WinXP SP3
Using CVI 2012 SP1 on Win 7 64bit, WinXP and WinXP Embedded
Using CVI 6.0 on Win2k, WinXP and WinXP Embedded

Hey Vix -
While I agree it's not quite as straightforward as LabVIEW, you can do exactly what you're talking about with LabWindows/CVI.  The basic instructions to do this are here.  Another good resource is to check out the installed custom controls in <CVI>\toolslib\custctrl, and copy their format.  It sounds like for your particular case, you'd want to create a custom control for a slide control.  Then, in the API for your custom control, you could have a convert function that programmatically created the second slide control for your second needle.  If you need more detail than this, let me know.

• Would you please summarize what the difference between tc and alv?

hi, experts,
      would you please summarize what the difference between table control and alv base on the function and usage practice.
for example, as i know:
1.edit
      tc: can edit in the same screen and save.
      alv: pop up a sub screen to let user edit, so this is unconvenient.
2.functional button

ALV Grid is basically used for display puropse. It is more user friendly. There are arious features ( such as coloring, sorting, saving to a local file, sedning by mail etc. ) These featurs make ALV Grid a very good option to display the data .
However , the table control is not only used to display data take from the database table, but also you can do operation such as deletion of data from database table, insertion of data into the database table and updation also. Yeah it has not got the various features whihc ALV has.
So table control and ALV Grid , if you are just using for display purpose, then ALV Grid is a better option due to its layout and attractive features. But if you want to do the database operations other than display, table control can be used.
As far as execution is concerned, I think ALV Grid is faster.
ALV grid control is faster when compared to Table control. But the comaprision is Negligible .
One of the major differences comes in taking of line items - ALV has an advantage over Table Control when it comes to update database from it.Table control only allows maximum of 999 records at a time where as this limitation is not there in ALV.
Also,a main feature of ALV Grid is that it contains a standard set of functions. These functions extend beyond the functions of a table control.
These two UI elements require different keyboard navigation, with ALV Grid being more user-friendly.
An application can display table data in ALV Grid or in a table control. In some applications you can choose between displaying and editing data in either ALV Grid or a table control. If a configurable button () appears in the right upper corner of the table, it is a table control.
Basically ALV is a way to display the output and Table Control is designed in screen painter through which you can get entries in Table Control, can delete some records etc for further processing and its not use only for Display.
ALV is Application List viewer:-
Sap provides a set of ALV (ABAP LIST VIEWER) function modules which can be put into use to embellish the output of a report. This set of ALV functions is used to enhance the readability and functionality of any report output. Cases arise in sap when the output of a report contains columns extending more than 255 characters in length.
In such cases, this set of ALV functions can help choose selected columns and arrange the different columns from a report output and also save different variants for report display. This is a very efficient tool for dynamically sorting and arranging the columns from a report output.
TABLE CONTROL:-
ABAP offers two mechanisms for displaying and using table data in a screen. These mechanisms are table controls and step loops. Table controls and step loops are types of screen tables you can add to a screen in the Screen Painter.

• Decorations on Custom Controls

Hello,
Attached is a very simple custom control I created. It doesn't work exactly
as I would like. When the user presses on the decoration part of the
button, the button does not depress. How can I create a custom button where
the user can press the decoration and have the button depress?
Are there some good resources for building custom controls?
Thanks,
Peter

Your button does not work since the decoration is an inactive element. It gets the mouse click but it does nothing with it.
You have to replace the bitmaps of your button with your own bitmaps which have the decoration in front of the button. You can do this in the edit mode of the control editor.
There is a pdf manual "Custom Controls and Type Definitions Application Note" which can be installed with LabVIEW (option manuals).
