Custom Dashboards and widgets

Hi All,
I have created a custom dashboard with four reports on it.
I want to create a link under each report which when clicked opens up that particular report as a widget.
I created the link and i created a small widget and saved it as .html file on the desktop.
But whenever i try to insert the url of the widget on the link in the dashboard, it doesnt open up.
Any clues?

Custom Dashboard and Custom View

Could you please advice me on following queries.
1. Adding new view for example 'Miscelleanous Reports' under Work Center Tab Analysis -> Sales - on Cloud so that all the reports without category OR customized reports can be added to this new area.
Can we do it with SDK ? I believe there should be some quick way to do same on Cloud directly.
2. Home Dashboard is something which is Standard Cloud part. We want another Customized Dashboard which no one should change and all Company related tiles and News Headers etc can be tagged here. Only Admin should be able to add or remove items and there should not be Personlization for Users.
It is possible through SDK or Cloud directly. Could you please advice with document/steps to do this.

1. i don't think it is possible to add that directly in Cloud. I think you have to use SDK for this.
2. This is not possible i guess. We have asked SAP how we could hide some "buttons" in the past but they said we could not do it. Similarly with personalization. May be you can remove all the existing stuff from Home and just include your custom reports and tiles.

Customizing Dashboards and answers

Hi.
I need integrate dashboard with other Portal. I used the Go URL Option, but I need to discard the heading of dashboard (the banner with the oracle logo and the options to navigate to others dashboards). I Can do that with answers but I can't do this with dashboard.

For changing logos and links in dashboards you need to use your custom styles and Skins. This would give you an idea. Or you can create your own custom dashboard by having multiple html containers each calling seperate reports. But this would require a lot of customization.

Selecting an object fails when creating a new dashboard using the 'New Dashboard and Widget Wizard'

I have recently been experiencing an issue when trying to create a new dashboard using the wizard. I get to the step where you select a group or object to add to the Scope and Counters section. When I try to search for a particular object such as a
port or interface it times out and returns an error. The error is shown below:

It appears to be complaining about internal resources, but we have not experienced this issue before and both the management and SQL servers have plenty of resource. The databases are held on a seperate dedicated sql server and I have noticed that when I
try to search for the object, the sqlservr.exe process immediately consumes 50% CPU while the query is running. As soon as it ends (errors) the sqlservr process drops back to a reasonable number.
No changes have been made to either the management server or sql server. We were able to create dashboards one day, but then recieved this error the next.
Has anyone else seen this issue? or can anyone explain what is happening?

when creating a Dashboard widget type
State.
Ones olution I found for this was as follows:
When creating the State widget,the option
to specify the criterion I left blank
and finished the creation of the dashboard.
With that managed to solve the problem.Of course this
is not the solution, or the root cause
of the problem.
I will examine more about this issue, and sohave
the ultimate solution and why such behavior,I post
here.

Missing performance counters when creating custom dashboard?

I've run into an issue when trying to create custom dashboards with performance views.
For example I have 2 servers with the same OS 2008 R2 one does not show the problem the other does.
The issue is that when I go in to create a custom dashboard and add a performance view the only counters listed for the problem server are network adapters. If I go to performance view on the server in scom it shows all the counters. The only place the counters
are missing is in the selection area for the dashboard performance view widget.
Do the performance views pull counter data from a different place then the dashboard performance widgets?

The future of Dashboard and Dashcode

I've only recently become interested in the Dashboard and Widgets on OS X, but to my dismay have found that Apple had abandoned Dashcode some time ago (although it can run under Mavericks with a tweak to one of the files), which leads me to wonder what the future of the Dashboard is.
Is Apple planning to replace Dashcode (what is that replacement)? Is Dashboard going away some time in the future?

You can use Safari to create Dashboard widgets.
As for the future of Dashboard itself, have you seen an Apple VP touting it on stage recently? If you want to be an Apple developer, you have to develop the ability to sense a shift in the wind. If Apple isn't hyping something, it may be dead. Unfortunately, there can be false positives too. Just because Apple is hyping something doesn't mean it isn't dead (e.g Exceptions from day one). But you can count on no hype == dead.

Regarding performance widget (performance objects) for custom dashboard

Hi,
I'm making a custom dashboard, I'm trying to use the performance widget for a netapp volume, but the performance objects are not available and only see "(All)" on the options (see screenshot). When I create the dashboard it shows the widget
with empty information.

Hi all,
I managed to fix all my dashboards, from what I understand it is not a supported MS fix as per articles I found on forums etc.
My issues started when I renamed some of my groups because of requirements, think SCOM 2012 doesn't like the rename, serious bug that I think causes the info in the db's to go out of sync etc.
Also found that data from the main opsmgr db to the dwdb hadn't submitted for months, so my reporting was way out. Hence blank stats on dashboards and uptime reports showed grey.
I followed this article and fixed it, please ensure that your db's are fully backed up before doing this. OperationsMananger DB and the OperationsManagerDW db.
The issue in the end is actually with the DW db.

OBIEE 11g : Unable to see any images while customizing styles and skins

I am trying to customize OBIEE 11g style and skin. I followed the steps mentioned at http://www.rittmanmead.com/2010/12/oracle-bi-ee-11g-styles-skins-custom-xml-messages/ and also in oracle white paper http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi/customizing-oracle-biee-11g-176387.pdf.
I am not able to see any images on any OBIEE screens. After login, I can see the name of skin which i have created as the default skin but login page images, header images (after login) are not coming up. Can you please provide solution?
P.S. I have not changed any images or any css files in the custom skin and style directory. I just wanted to know first whether the new skin/style works for me. If it works, then i will apply some sort of customization.

Dashboard - defaulting to a custom Dashboard - is this possible?

Hi Everyone,
I have created a custom sales dashboard and I would like to set it as the first dashboard that our Sales Reps see when they click on the tab. Is this possible? because I can't seem to find any info on this.
I started playing around with Custom Web tabs, and I can add the URL from the Sales Dashboard - but I get a picture in a picture problem where there are two sets of the action bar and tabs at the top
Has anyone had similar challenges? How have you gotten around this?

We're actually looking for the same feature, but no luck yet.
Prior to the custom dashboards in R15, we used Custom Web Tabs. We still keep the "top 3 dashboards" as Custom Web Tabs as they are more convenient to run. With the Custom Web Tab dashboards, we've linked each up to a Narrative report. Narrative reports use HTML code to combine several different reports into one report.
I've never tried to link the URL from a custom dashboard to a web tab, maybe you can give Narrative reports a try.

After deleteing Custom CSS and Custom Functions, cannot get FireFox to recognize audio player. Works in IE and Safari. Site is https and using bluehost.

Using the Genesis Framework on my WordPress site. I can use Safari and IE. However, when I try to use Fire Fox, it will not appear. I deleted all of my Custom CSS and Functions. Still, nothing is working. Contacted bluehost, the representative there was not able to help me out and also emailed CD Baby to see what might work. I am not sure if it is something with my site using HTTPS instead of HTTP of why this is not working? I am told the plugin works on Fire Fox but I cannot for the life of me figure out what's going on. Also changed themes and used Twenty Thirteen among others. Still the same thing. Fire Fox will not work. Tried in Text widget, and pasting on a page, and still not working. IE and Safari it is fine. Do I need to add something else within my site? Thanks ahead of time for any way to solve this situation.

Custom TOC and player controls

I would like to customize the entire player and TOC navigation for my captivate project.
For example, I would love to have my clients logo above the TOC and create a custom look and feel to the entire experience. Example I would model the design after: http://www.articulate.com/community/showcase/?page_id=96
Can you elaborate on the steps I need to take to create a custom look and feel to the navigation and player? Is there detailed documentation I can read on this subject? My friend can write the custom actionscript, I'm just not sure the general overview of the process. When I export the captivate files to Flash CS3, I do not see the TOC or player files?

Unfortunately, I don't think you can customise the TOC much beyond the colour controls given in the navigation settings. However, you can access the Playbar FLA's (sources) in Captivate 4, they're located in the Captivate 4 directory under "FLA/Playback" I believe. (or something similar.)
It is important to note however, that this is rather limited in what you can do in terms of customising the playbar. You can make new buttons, give them a different look and feel and change colours, but beyond that, you can't really do much with their layout, as Captivate either wants them in a tiny little center aligned area, or stretched horizontally across the screen depending on what you choose in the 'skin' navigation settings.
I ended up writing some AS code that would override the button positions, and gave them custom X values to place them in different places on the screen. However it never really worked entirely too well, as I wanted a custom width playbar, and I couldn't get it looking right.
In the end I just decided to make my own playbar in Flash, and import it as a widget. This shouldn't be too hard for your friend if he has a reasonable amount of AS experience. Best place to start is to have a look at the perpetual buttons widget that is provided with Captivate 4. I essentially just built upon that one to add more buttons and functionality that comes from the captivate toolbar.

It will then just be a matter of making code to make the buttons do what you want by calling/assigning those variables. The hardest part is making a custom playbar, but you can choose to use the Captivate one for ease sake if you want to go that option as well.
