Custom Equalizer Presets

Hello everyone,
I'm planning to make a clean install of OS X soon. I have several custom equalizer presets I don't want to lose when I wipe my hard drive. Does anyone know how iTunes stores equalizer presets? In other words, what file(s) are these presets stored in? I would like to backup this file(s) before I start.
Thanks
Intel iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

The equalizer presets are stored in the 'com.apple.iTunes.eq.plist' file in ./Users/YourUsername/Library/Preferences.
You might also want to save the 'com.apple.iTunes.plist' file, which holds all other iTunes preferences.
Don't forget to backup the 'iTunes Library' file which is iTunes' database and holds all song locations, ratings, podcast subscriptions and play counts.
Hope this helps.

  • Equalizer presets in Belle

I would like to know if custom equalizer presets in music player can be created in Symbian Belle (not possible in N8 with S^3 and Anna).
Setting all the bars to the highest makes a significant difference to the volume levels (as I had done with my N95) as compared to all the bars being set in the middle (default preset).
As Symbian Belle is highly customizable, it would be great if this feature is included.

You can download EQUALZER application from OVI store.....save any NEW PRESET in this application while playing the Music player and the New Preset is automatically saved in the Music player Equalizer presets...the link is

    It costs you just Rs.25

  • No custom Equalizer settings? Why not?

Well, I've looked everywhere for a place to put this, to suggest this to Apple, but no dice.
Anyways, I bought a 3G iPod Nano a little while back, and while I'm pleased with everything else, the one thing that really bothers me is not being able to adjust the equalizer.
Sure, there's plenty of apple presets but... I really don't like any of them.
I looked it up on the general support section, and it says that you can't use any custom equalizer presets. Uh... why not? Would it really be that hard to implement this option in the software?
I spent ages very carefully adjusting the equalizer on my iTunes, getting it just how I like it to sound. I really wish that I could import even just ONE custom equalizer set onto my iPod.
Other then this, I'm very happy with my iPod. I love Apple's products.
    But this is just disappointing.

    Hi,
I am disappointed myself when I got the chance to own an iPod Nano 3G. I have other MP3 player, iRiver T60 and iFP-340, and they have been working great. They both have Custom Equalizer setting and an incredible EQ called "SRS WOW Effect - 3D Surround Sound" which produces incredible surround sound, noticeable even with cheap headphones. Personally, I don't think iPod can beat those other two MP3 Players in Sound. However, iPod Nano 3G I have has something better, such as incredibly fast booting up, easy and fast file searching, a small tiny but powerfully bright screen with high resolution, and other good features like Games, Clock, Photo Viewing, etc.
I hope Apple can see the demanding market in better MP3 player with 3D Surround Sound and FM Radio Tuner built-in and make a better iPod that has all of those good features.

  • Custom Equalizer, or how to improve the bass.

I have been looking for a solution how to improve the bass on Ipod. So far no results. I purchased in ear head phones from $40- $250. It doesn't sound like my CD player that has extra bass. And if I jog and earphone don't sit deep inside of my ears, forget it. The other MP3 players have the bass boosters. But I like the Ipod. Is there a solution that I am not aware about?
    Thanks,

Thanks for the help guys, but...
The presets in I pod are a joke. I will explain. Did you guys have a home stereo before? I am sure you did. The very cheap unit would come with presets, like jazz, dance, classical and so fort. And it would sound like either not enough treble, or bass. The medium price to expensive units would come with custom equalizer settings to your liking. I pod is not that cheap, $499 I photo 60G. Apple should have made custom settings, like I tunes!!!
Why the custom settings of the songs in I tunes are not transferred to Ipod?
    Cheers.

  • Custom Equalizer???

hey, so does the new 3.0 OS for the ipod touch now have a custom equalizer? I have been hoping ever since i got my ipod touch that they would introduce one, since the creative MP3 player that i got about 5 years ago has one and i can make my music full of bass on that without it distorting.
Also, to anyone who was having album art problems (not displaying correctly on the ipod when playing the track, half of it black or sometimes completely blank, and also sometimes would display when rotating the ipod for album cover view), do those problems seem to be gone now? I have been having this issue even with tunes that i purchased off Itunes.
Thanks in advance for any help

Please don't be rediculous neil, my creative mp3 player has a adequate equaliser, and it's over 5 years old, AND the battery lasts 24 continuous playtime.
Furthermore, the ipod already has an equaliser, but there are only presets. I'm talking about an interface to control the settings myself, instead of being restricted to presets. And being some sort of expert as you claim to be (even though you're clearly not because of your ignorance about battery life), you should know that the custom equaliser would be OPTIONAL, and a lot of people would be willing to sacrifice any battery life that would be lost from a result of using the equaliser.
There would be no complete re-design of the sound component of the ipod, as you should know yourself the equaliser is already there. Obviously this is not important to you, however i have expensive headphones which boasts excellent quality, and the ability to handle very low responce frequences. This worked perfectly with my old mp3 player by creative, as i could raise the bass levels without allowing any distortion. However the ipod preset that amplifies bass (bass booster) excessively raises the lower tones to the point of where it will distort. this is coming from the actual ipod though, not the headphones. I can test this in many ways, such as using the headphones with my old mp3 player which produces fantastic bass quality, and by connecting the ipod up to my car stereo and home hifi.
i am puzzled as to why you are giving us a lesson on how high a pitch an old man can hear, when i'm talking about how restricted the current equaliser on the ipod touch is. and the fact that you claim it would eat up battery power (it would, but only a small amount), does signify to me that you know very little on the subject, and very little care for quality.
perhaps i should lend you my creative mp3 player and my headphones, and i will show you the difference.

  • Where are custom equalizer settings saved on windows pc

Where are iTunes custom equalizer settings saved on my Windows 7 hard drive? I always backup the entire iTunes folder and use that to restore everything after reformatting my hard drive. Everything restores EXCEPT the custom equalizer settings. Which file contains my custom EQ settings, and where is it found?

Go to Edit>Preferences>Presets>Show Lightroom Presets Folder.
These folders are usually (see below) actually in the same folder called 'Lightroom' where your catalog lives.
If you back up the entire 'Lightroom' folder they should be there unless you have elected to put the folder elsewhere.
Either way 'Show Lightroom Presets Folder' takes one there.
You can copy and back it up seperately or as part of the greater 'ightroom folder' back up.

  • Custom Equalizer on Ipod

Does anyone know if Apple intends to implement custom equalizer settings that can be transferred to the IPod that aren't preset? This isn't something that's difficult to implement and other digital audio players have the ability to do this so why hasn't Apple done this yet?

The best pre-set I've found to accentuate the bass without overextending the highs is the hip-hop setting. The only other usable presets that I've found are Rock and R&B, but they both extend the high-end as well as the bass.
Of course, there is always bass boost, which only touches the low end.

  • Download custom equalizer settings to ipod?

How can you download custom equalizer settings cereated in iTunes to the iPod?
I created custom equalizer settings and assigned those settings to several songs. iTunes plays the songs with the correct equalizer setting on my computer. But when I download to the iPod, only the preset equalizer settings are available in the menu. I need custom settings to compensate for the earphone frequency response and none of the preset settings even comes close to what is needed.

Sorry, but you cannot transfer custom equalizer settings to your iPod. See

  • Custom equalization option missing after FCPX 10.1 update

I made the decision to update to 10.1 with much caution for a number of reasons and "new" features promised on the fancy promo page.
The overall look and feel didn't create so much problems as expected but the downside, I found, is some missing features (again? seriously?)
It seems that, when a clip is selected, there's no more audio Custom equalization option.
When I choose my preset under Inspector > Audio > Audio Enhancements > Equalizaton: (e.g. Flat or Voice Enhance) and change the values, close the
graphic EQ, reselect the clip and re-open the EQ, it's flat again. All changes are lost and the setting defaults to the preset.
Really annoying to see such functions disappear. Any ideas or similar problems, anyone?

Try opening the Effects Browser and use one of the EQ effects. The settings can be further refined by clicking, in the Inspector window, on the equalizer icon. Changes made this way are saved.

  • How to restore deleted iTunes equalizer presets?

I am using iTunes 12 on Windows 8.1 64 bit.
A few years ago, I deleted all the iTunes equalizer presets and made a bunch of custom presets. Despite several upgrades to iTunes, my custom presets have persisted (good on ya Apple). However, I'd like to delete these custom presets and restore the defaults. Is there an easy way to do this without completely erasing my library?

For uscsparticus, there's a question for you:
If is saved from iCloud, you'll be able to get back or not?

  • Are any models of the iPod able to use a custom equalizer setting?

The equalizer presets included with the iPod (Acoustic, Rock, Electronic, etc.) are okay, but there are alot of people that would rather create their own equalizer presets to truly enjoy the quality and sound of thier music. I've read plenty of forums on if the iPod Nano 6th generation or any iPod for that matter can use a custom equalizer setting. Sadly, it's not possible (from what I've read). I'm really surprised the techs from Apple haven't done anything to help out. I was just wondering if anyone has figured this "problem" out? If so, I would really appreciate it if someone could explain step by step on how to do so. Thanks in advance!

Equalizing is done through iTunes.  As for step by step instructions you will need to tell us which os system you have then post in the iTunes forums for whichever os system you have.
If you would like custon equalizing directly on the iPod put your request on the Product Feedback website.

  • Premiere CS6 does not remember some settings when saving custom export presets.

When I save a custom export preset in the export window, some settings are not remembered, and I need to change them every time again and again! The settings so far I found to not be saved are:
    Key frame every ... frames
    Limit data rate to ...

    Interesting...
When I create and save an a H.264 QT preset
using the Export Settings dialog from within Premiere,
it does not save the key frame interval or max bitrate.
However, when I create a H.264 QT preset from within
Media Encoder and save... the missing settings are saved
and can be recalled from within the Premiere Export Settings dialog.
    EDIT:
Re-tested this a bit more, and now the kf interval & max bitrate are
being saved with the presets created in Premiere Export Settings dialog.
Odd... my first 2 tries didn't take?

  • "...in a custom Sequence Preset Editor."

On page 1011 of the Final Cut Express User Manual, in the section "The Export QuickTime Movie Command", in the second paragraph, it suggests that there is a way to create a custom Sequence Preset. I quote:
"You can also choose to use the existing settings of the clip or sequence you are exporting, or create customized settings in a custom Sequence Preset Editor."
I desperately want to create a custom sequence preset. The last video I did for work I did at 1920 x 1080. The video is going on the companies site at 576 x 324. So I would rather just work in that size. But I cannot figure out how to create a sequence that size. Dose such a "Sequence Preset Editor" exist? And, where would I get one?
Any help offered here would be most graciously welcomed.

I don't really know what it means by that. However, in the paragraph before it it says:
+"You can use this command to export Final Cut Express clips or sequences with their current settings or any of the sequence settings available in Final Cut Express. This command allows you to choose settings based on sequence presets in Final Cut Express"+.
I can only assume that it means you can take the file into another program like Compressor to choose more settings instead. Or maybe it is referring to Quicktime Conversion, which gives you more options in exporting...
Maybe someone else will know, but for now I am puzzled.

You have to add the Service Offerings and the Request Offerings in the Catalog Group. Nesting doesn't work because Service Offerings and Request Offerings are different types of objects.
This offers the option the manage the access to Service Offerings and Request Offerings very granular if needed. For instance you can control access to a Service Offering in one Catalog Group related to one user role (A) and use two additional Catalog Groups
with different Request Offerings related to other user roles (B) and (C). Result will lead to:
User in Role A and B -> Can see Service Offerings A containing Request Offerings B
User in Role A and C -> Can see Service Offerings A containing Request Offerings C
User in Role A, B and C -> Can see Service Offerings A containing Request Offerings B and C
User in Role A only -> Don's see anything because of the missing permission on any Request Offering. So the "empty" Service Request won't show up in the portal.
    Hope his helps.

  • Troubles with the equalizer presets

Each and every song in my library have a saved equalizer preset, so that different music genres will have different equalizer preset, but it doesn't work completely.
If I click on song #1, a jazz song, it will have a jazz preset, but when I let that song play through until song #2, another jazz song, automatically comes on, Song #2 will have a rock preset. Now, if I Click on song #2, it will go back to jazz preset. What is going on here???
If I click on song #3, a blues song, it will have a blues preset, but when I let that song play through until song #4, another blues song, automatically comes on, Song #4 will have a rock preset. Now, if I Click on song #4, it will go back to jazz preset. What is going on here???
Sorry for having redundant examples, but I just want to be 100% sure for the reviewers to understand my trouble.
    Thanks

Just a hunch, but did you install "Main stage" lately? After I installed MainStage, quite a few of the Drum Instruments from the "Rhythm Section" pack were not working properly, because the instruments were not reinstalled by the MainStage installer.
I forced a redownload of the additional content in MainStage, to reinstall the "Rhythm Section" JamPack, and now all Drum Instruments work as they should.
