Custom Flag field show's blank value by default instead of yes or no

Hi TechNet users.
I see this behaviour in a number of my environments (RTM, CU April, ProjectOnline). I have a Flag custom field on task level, these should alway's have a value (No or Yes).
So I create a Project schedule using the browser and add some auto scheduled tasks by just filling in the taskname column. I can view the flag field being populated with a No. Now I publish this project and check it in to the server.
If I now look at that new project schedule using the PWA interface and I do not edit the project but just view the schedule with that flag column I just see a blank cell with the new task.
If I edit the project and Manually change the flag field to say No and publish/check in the project the value is correctly displayed.
But is this by design? To my knowledge a flag field always have a "No" value by default and should be "No" already when I just fill in the task name field. I think this is something the Schedule webpart on PPM doesn't do correctly? Can
any of you reproduce the situation?

Mandatory custom metadata field with current system date as default value.

I want to create a custom metadata field of type Date. I want to make it mandatory and want to set its default value as system date.
I have already created field of type Date. What expression I should write to make system date as default value?
Because its a mandatory field, what would happen to existing content. Will there metadata get updated?

How do we create custom flags to show/hide navigation menus?

Hi,
I need to set a custom flag which allows me to hide/show navigation menus to users. These flags are declared in dynamicdata MenuItemFlagDefinitions and are used in dynamicdata CoreMenuItemsFlags, but I do not know were they are defined.. For instance, were are the flags isTopMenusOnly and isTraysOnly defined? I have tried to define a custom flag in dynamichtml std_js_bootstrap_vars_script and std_personalized_js_bootstrap_vars, but it doesn't work.. I've tried to define a custom flag as a configuration variable in a .cfg file but it doesn't work either..

HtmlText fields show up blank

Hi
I am trying to load some dynamic text fields with html tags as follows:
_root.pag.pages.page12.home.htmlText = "<a href=\"http://www.sspaintings.com\" target=\"_root.pag.pages.page1\">Home</a>";
_root.pag.pages.page12.about.htmlText = "<a href=\"http://www.sspaintings.com\" target=\"_root.pag.pages.page2\">About</a>";
I have rendered them as html and selectable in the properties area.
When I test the movie the fields show up with nothing in them.
I have also used the _root.pag.pages.page12.home.html=true; but it does not work either.
The texfields contain nothing. Are these commands not good for As1 - Flash 6

Thanks so much for your insight. Your comment on labeling it text as opposed to htmlText was really good.
After I did that it still did not show. I used labels from other pages that were working and re-routed them to that page and it still did not do it.
I realized that I had created those text fields as a copy paste activity from Frontpage into Flash. (Not that I think it should matter) but that was the only difference when I created that page. The other thing was that the textfields were all grouped in a movie clip something I tried to undo and it did not work it would go back and regroup them into a movie clip. I also tried naming the instance of the movie clip and adding it to the path but to no avail.
So I just deleted that page and started from scratch with a page that already had fields in it and slowly changed everything to what I needed and it worked.
The path is the same except the textfields have been simplified. You can see it in www.sspaintings.com>about>sitemap.
(Sorry for the delay you hear in the music, there is a movieclip loading in the background which is doing this but I haven't fiugre out why)

Text field showing up blank.

I had emailed a PDF fillable document to a staff member who uses a Mac. When she returned it to me (I use a PC) the fields were blank except some boxes that were marked with an 'x'. If I click on the field I can see the text, but when I don't it's blank. Also, if I print the document it comes up blank. Any help would be appreciated.

Magento text fields show as blank

I recently upgraded Firefox to version 11.
When working in Magento CMS, certain text fields are being shown as empty as if the data has been lost.
Once you grab the bottom right corner and make the field a bit bigger, the text appears.
Has anyone seen this problem and is there a fix?

Firefox 11 introduced a problem with the TinyMCE WYSIWYG/rich text editor. I wonder whether that or a related issue affects Magento?
Could you try a different workaround: zoom up a step and down a step and see whether that causes the text to appear. (You can either use Ctrl++ Ctrl+- or Ctrl+mousewheel for this.)

UI Component SelectManyChoice is showing some selected values by default

I am working on JDeveloper 11.1.1.4.
I created a viewObject DepartmentVO which fetches the distinct department values in a table.
I created a Department.jsff fragment and its backing bean Department.java. And created a RichSelectManyChoice smc1 component in Department.jsff.
DepartmentVO is binded to smc1 so that when the fragment loads smc1 component fetches the all department values. And the user can select many depatments.
I am calling this fragment in Home.jspx page using bounded taskflow. The taskflow behaviour is set as "Always begin with new transaction" and "Share data control with calling taskflow" is checked because I am calling another taskflow which requires the data in this fragment. It is working and I am able to select multiple departments.
Suppose I selected two departments Finance and HR. But the problem is that when I come to this page again (I mean when departments.jsff loads again) it is showing Finance and HR as selected. But it shoud show the list of vallues as none selected.
Please suggest how can I achieve this.

UI Field showing only integers

Hi all
I need to create a field on a form that only allows the user to input whole numbers (integers).
I've implemented this as follows:

 readTimeOut.setHorizontalAlignment(SwingConstants.RIGHT);
}This works in the sense that it only allows integer values in the field, and along with other code, does just about everything I need.
The only problem I have is changing the number entirely. The numberFormatter will not let me delete the last character in the field.
E.g.
If the initial value is 600,000, and I delete the 6, the field shows 0. I cannot delete this zero so that the field is empty, which I need to do.
If I delete the zeros one after the other, I am left with a 6 that I can't delete.
This is not good, because to update the field from 600,000 to 12 (for example), I have to do the following:
1. Delete all the zeros, leaving the 6.
2. Enter 12, meaning the value in the field is now 612, or 126 depending on how the initial value was modified by the user.
3. Delete the 6.
I've looked at the NumberFormatter and IntegerFormatter classes and documentation but can't see anything that allows the field to contain blank values.
Is there an option to allow an IntegerFormatter to have a blank field?
If not, can anyone suggest another way of doing this?

Jeanette, you're right, the IntegerFormatter is a custom class that extends NumberFormatter. I didn't realise this. I'm still fairly new to Java, and am still learning using existing code in the product I'm developing.
Of the two options above, I think I prefer using a custom format. I'd assumed the IntegerFormatter class was a standard class, so hadn't thought of changing it. As that's already custom I can either change that or create my own version.

Update Blank value on material classification

i am having a problem with regards to updating material characteristics with this
FM: CACL_OBJECT_VALIDATION_MAINT with a class type description, material class
updating from a report and fields WITH VALUES are no problems..
the catch is.. when i want to update a field with a BLANK value, it is not shown as blank.
for example: i want to change the CHARACTERISTIC DESCRIPTION: ACTION CODE of a particular material with SPACE, and its initial value is 01. There will be no change. BUT if i update it with 02, when i view the material classification, it is changed to 02.
is this really standard (like when the value is space no update is done?) or am i missing something.

Restrict Blank value in a custom table field.

I have a custom table with some fields with check table search help. One of the field I want to make it value required field. For example Field u2018Cu2019 should have value (no blanks or Spaces). Field u2018Cu2019 has a check table search help and master data table does not have any blank value. Field u2018Cu2019 is not a key field. Suggestions in this is highly appreciated.

You can create a Table Maintenance Generator for you custom table and you can use to TMG events to put a check the the field 'C' should not be initial.

Access 2013: Sum fields on a form suddenly showing up blank

I have a simple Access database (originally built in 2010, now running 2013). Sometime in the last week or so all of the SUM fields in the database started showing up BLANK (one minute everything was working fine, the next it wasn't, not sure what happened
in between). Even when I create a new, basic form, I can't seem to get my SUM fields working.
For example, I have a table where I document number of miles traveled for work purposes, the fields include: TravelDate, ProjectID, Mileage, and Description. Mileage is a Number field, Long Integer. If I create a continuous form, connect it to the table
(same thing happens if I connect to a query), add a field in the Detail section with
Mileage as control source and txtMileage as name and a field in the FORM FOOTER that is: =Sum([txtMileage])...the SUM field is empty in
Form View. And, there are no NULL values in the data set. This is happening across all of my forms and subforms, all SUM fields are now displaying as blank.
Is it possible that I changed a global Access setting to cause this? A form setting? Any other ideas?

I had the same sudden issue. But I was able to determine that it involved only one workstation. All the others were fine, as well as a test run on another Win 8 station outside the environment. From there I was able to determine that a third party
app had been installed near the time of the problem showing up. I uninstalled it and it immediately was resolved. The app was a C# based tool thought the authors have yet to identify why this caused a problem. My suspicion is that they wrote a 32 bit version
and this was installed on a 64 bit station, and there is some issue with mso.dll, where I believe the function calls exist for sum. I am testing to see if there are similar function errors in Excel.
What is noticeable was that Access did not throw a an Error# nor a #name. Just nothing appeared, and when you click on a row, the sum would appear, though it was incorrect.
In Access 2010 I remember there were some footer field issues in continuous which eventually were patched.
It was an opportunity to remind my client - do not install anything from any one on the live system without prior testing.

Hi Satya,
These are the steps you've to do.
1. Enable the change document flag in the data element level for the fields of the tables you want to monitor.
2. Go to transaction SCDO. Create a new change object, and add your table to this object. After generation, you'll get a function module.
3. Call this function module in the table maintainence generator screen, after the data is saved to the database table. This function module automaticallly writes the changes, with the old and new values, and the fields that were changed to the tables CDHDR and CDPOS.
4. You can keep track of the changes made to the table by monitoring these tables.

How to see values (null, 0) instead of blank fields

Hi.
I search the forum but only found messages about users who want to show fields blank, when value is null.
I have the problem other way around. I work with DevSuite 10g and have a xml-Report.
I have fields and for some the query returns null (no value). Than the report shows nothing for this fields. Neither a blank line nor a value like 0.
The problem is, that the other values afterwards the blank ones, slip above.
For Example:
field 1
field 2
field 3
field 4
The Query returns null for field 2 and 3.
Then on the report I see:
field 1
field 4
But what I want to see is:
field 1
field 4
or:
field 1
0
0
field 4
But all I tested doesn´t work. I set a value for "when null" in the attribute inspector and the horizontal elasticity of "fix" (I thought it maybe it "slip together" so it is not shown).
Has anyone a idea how I can show a (blank or 0 value) instead of nothing, so that fields afterwards doesn´t slips up?

We solve this problem in a similar way.
We put a field under/over the other. We give the field we want to show a white background. So it is "sitting" over the other and the underlaying one is not shown (because the overlaying one has a white background).
If the overlaying one is blank it is not shown (so it can´t has a white background) and we see the underlaying field.
But to use triggers is a better solution.
I solve it on the same way as explained above but using triggers also.
But I have to leave a statement about Oracles Report Builder. Sorry but it is more than horrible program. I never have seen such a (also new and) bad programmed program. It is more than hard to work with it ... it cost me every hour I use it more and more power to stay quite ...
Here are the things I really wish to change at reports bulder directly:
- more than one step back (undo)
- there is a difference between the output in reports bulder on the paper output, what is shown when you print it on a paper (from reports bulder) and from what is shown in a PDF file produced with a reports server (that is really annoying, you never now if it is correct what you see in reports builder!)
- better editing and better selectable of the text-boxes and fields
- a way to hierarchically objects that are on the same layer (frame) so that you can really bank on it, that one object is ever behind another one
- not only moving and scaling of fields and boxes on a fix gutter (free transforming and moving would be great) because sometimes a text or a box with line around is not on the right place (out of order; above another object/text a.s.o.) and when it is (why I don´t really know) is not on the right place and the distance to the other object is less than the fix gutter-distance you can´t move it in such a way, that the two objects are flush with/on a fix line/place. It´s because the fix gutter. The distance is lower than the gutter, if you move it, it is not makeable to move it this less-than-the-gutter-distance to be flush with the other object. You can only move it in the fix gutter-distance and than it can´t be flush with the other objects.
It looked really bad and amateurish!
- a tool (a button or something) where you can marked object to flush all together on the same line, so that all objects for example are flush together on one start-line or ends (horizontal or vertical flush).
It would be great and would the work so really easier and better.

How to populate custom table field value into standard DFF

I have a requirement to populate the custom table field value into standard DFF. we enabled the DFF in ReqDistDFFOnAcct(po_req_distributions_all). On the requisition tab as soon as i click on the checkout button, the custom field value has to be shown in the requisition distributions DFF field along with the standard Columns like charge account, percent, qty and when we click on the next button, it has to hit the base table ie., po_req_distributions_all.
the standard columns data is showing the screen. how to acheive this requirement programatically
There is a EO for the req distributions table. please help me how to achevie this requirement.
