Custom formatting text?

I some documents with custom formatting in them, for example if a sentence was:
This should be {red}color.
Then the world "color" should be red and the {red} should not appear.
Now my current way of doing this it though a JTextPane.
I do something like this (currently dont have the code with me so it may not be 100% accurate):
// Get our temp
String temp = this.getText ( );
// Get our pos
int pos = temp.indexOf ( "{red}" );
// Set the first half
this.setText ( temp.substring ( 0, pos ) );
// Set the second half
this.setText ( this.getText ( ) + temp.substring ( pos + 6, temp.length ( ) - pos - 6 );
styledDocument.setCharacterAttributes(pos, this.getText ( ).length ( ) - pow, styledDocument.getStyle ("Red" ), false);Is their any better ways to do this?
Can I automatically do like a
styledDocument.addReplace ( "{red}", styledDocument.getStyle ("Red" ) ); So that it will automatically know what to replace? Thanks for any help!

Can I automatically do like a styledDocument.addReplace ( "{red}",
styledDocument.getStyle ("Red" ) ); So that it will automatically know what to replace? No idea what you are asking. You can write you own method to do that if you want. But the StyledDocument can't do that for you.

  • SelectAll() on a (custom) formatted text field

    Hi everybody,
    I have a JFormattedTextField to which I have set two separate formatters one for edit and one for display.
    I would like to selectAll() the text in the field anytime the field get the input focus.
    I tried to set a foculistener, but did not work. I found in the forum I should not use the focuslistener, rather a requestFocus() + selectAll() but I don't know when to call the requestFocus...
    Thanks in advance for your replies.

    I hope you understand why "it worked fine". SwingUtilities.invokeLater is a cover method for EventQueue.invokeLater -- it places the execution of the Runnable's run method at the end of the queue.
    Without that construct, your selectAll was cutting ahead of events already in the queue -- one of which was the actual transfer of focus to the text field, which by default (as you know) removes any pre-existing selection.
    With the invokeLater, selectAll is placed at the end of the queue, and is invoked after the text field has already gained focus.

  • How do I use Dreamweaver CC 2014.1 Live View to copy complex formatted text into web page?

    Since Design View has been removed from Fluid Grid Layouts, and could be removed completely in next upgrade, I cannot use Live View to place complex text into my web pages.
    Our business requires the listing of complex job descriptions on our web pages.  Design View worked fine, Live View does not. Both examples are noted below.

    Obviously, as seen above, I'm doing something wrong or Live View does not do all the functions that Design View use to do.  I realize I can still access Design View in non-Fluid Grid Layout documents and that is my current work-around.  I copy from my Word file into Design View available in non-Fluid, then copy that code into my Fluid Grid Layout document, not real efficient use of my time.  And, even that work-around may not be available after the next upgrade.

    Hans thank you for your reply and attention to this matter.  Moreover, with your steeped expertise I do not, in any fashion, intend to be flippant or capricious.
    However, I do not believe the reply is on point since I'm not discussing the insertion of an HTML tag/element; but rather, the placing of complex formatted text into my various web pages.
    Design View and  2014.1 Live View seem to serve different functions.  That is, Design View, for us, serves as a highly sophisticated HTML5 code generator that allows us to properly display complex formatted text that originally is created as a Word docx file.  As I noted in my original post, the complex formatted text from the Word file is then pasted into Design View and thus properly renders on the web page.  I invite you to try this yourself.  Simply copy my properly formatted text in my original post (that can be found at "Using Design View the web page rendered this way:") to a Word file, and it will retain the complex formatting, then copy that Word file text to both Design View and  2014.1 Live View files.  Please apprise me of your results.
    Discussion has been had in at least two separate threads on the Design View disappearance in Fluid Grid.  In https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1597260 staff member Lalita wrote "It would be helpful for us if you list the issues you are seeing with fluid grid live view editing."  And in https://forums.adobe.com/message/6807088#6807088 staff member Subhadeep wrote "If you can list down the workflows you are trying while editing in Live View & the issues you are facing in doing so, it will help us understand what is amiss & suggest alternative workflows to do the same."  I believe I've pointed out issues when attempting to use Live View for functions or work flow that customarily had been done in Design View.
    Being a CC subscriber, if someone can provide me with a workflow using other additional Adobe products to get my complex formatted text from Word ultimately to my Dreamweaver web page, be it an image insert or whatever, I would take the suggestions.
    The difference in the coding of my example in my original post is as follows.

    It is readily apparent that Design View is a much needed code generator in the Dreamweaver product.  Live View serves completely other, and needed, purposes.  Therefore, I still, after all the forum discussions, do not understand why Design View has been removed from Fluid Grid.
    Again Hans thank you for your reply.  But unless I'm missing something, citation to the links you provided does not solve my problem.  And that problem is this: If Design View is on its way out and thus will be completely removed from Dreamweaver at some point, then how do I provide my information (i.e. complex executive job descriptions) on my website?
    Apparently a vote is taking place https://forums.adobe.com/ideas/3922 on the issue of placing Design View back into Fluid Grid.  I do not understand why the need for two rather disjunctive functionalities are at the mercy of the democratic process.  These are matters of engineering principles not "town hall gatherings".

  • How to get custom formating to show in export as HTML CS4

    Using a copy of CS4, I am exporting an indesign document that has custom formated words. That is some words are italicized and don't conform to the paragraph style (I have to do this as I get all my documents from Microsoft Word Files). The italicized text shows up as a paragraph style such as "BodyText+" where the normal text is "BodyText". Manually applying a character style to all the italicized text would be impossible.
    How can I export as html in this case? Is there a way to format all BodyText+ with a special character style?

    Well I guess the find/replace all seems to have set the character styles in the InDesign document, but, it makes no difference in the html output
    It still looks like <p class="body-bodytext">nonitalics italics</p>.
    Does anybody know how to make it do something like this:
    <p class="body-bodytext">nonitalics <span ="italics_character_style"> italics</span></p> ?
    I can write the post processing stuff as long as it somehow notes the difference

  • Is there a way to include "Formatted Text" content from a form in the e-mail summary?

    I'd like to be able to include some of the content I've created in a form as "formatted text" in the email summary / notification.  Right now, only the fields that require the end user to input data of some type are included in the summary.  Is there a way to do this?
    Thanks,
    -Jeremy

    Hi,
    You can not include custom text in the notification email.  Only in the summary receipt email.  Can you explain what sort of text you want in the notification email?  Also, you may want to post this to the ideas section.  If others vote for it, there's a higher chance of us adding it in a future release.  The ideas forum can be found here - http://forums.adobe.com/community/formscentral?view=idea
    Thanks,

  • Need help with adding formatted text and images to Crystal Report?

    Here's my scenario:
    I have a customer statement that's generated as a crystal report and that has a placeholder for advertisement. The advertisement is mixture of formatted text and images. Until now we only had one advertisement that was always used on the report. The new requirement is that we would have a pool of hundreds of advertisements and would need to display one specific advertisement on the customer statement based on various marketing criteria. They key is that the advertisement content will be determined programmatically and cannot be hardcoded into the report. I'm using Crystal2008 with .net SDK.
    Here are the solutions I thought of, but I'm still rather lost and would appreciate your help/opinion.
    1) Pass HTML or RTF to the report
    Not really sure if this is possible and how to get it done. Also how would I pass in images? Would display formatting be reliable when exporting to PDF?
    2) Create each add as a subreport and append it programatically
    I actually have this working, but I only know how to append a new section to the end of the report and then load the subreport to the section. I have no other controll of the placement. Is there a way to dynamically load a subreport to a predefined section in the main report? How about adding a dummy subreport in the main report as a placeholder and then replacing it with a different subreport? How could I do this?
    3) Pass an Image to the report
    I would create each advertisement as an image and then would somehow add the image to the report. How would I load the image and control the placement? Could I somehow define a placeholder for the image in the main report-maybe a dummy image to be replaced?
    Thank you.

    Hello Pavel,
    I would got the third way.
    You can use dynamic images in your report.
    Just by changing the URL to the image the image can be changed.
    Please see the [Crystal Manual|http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/cr2008/en/xir3_cr_usergde_en.pdf] and search for images.
    or directly here

  • OBIEE custom formatting/threshold

    Hello,
    While performing the custom formatting, instead of changing color and font, adding image ,can we add text like HIGH, LOW, MEDIUM etc. For example: if some metrics have its value greater than $5000 then instead of changing its color i want to add the text HIGH. Can anyone tell me the steps to do this?
    Thanks in advance

    While performing the custom formatting, instead of changing color and font, adding image ,can we add text like HIGH, LOW, MEDIUM etc. For example: if some metrics have its value greater than $5000 then instead of changing its color i want to add the text HIGH. Can anyone tell me the steps to do this?Hi Rubita ,
    For doing that you have to add two instances of that amount.
    Ex: if you have to compare Expense Amount then takes Expense Amount two times. 1st Expense Amount convert into char using edit formula:
    CAST("Table Name"."Expense Amount" AS char) and leave 2nd expense amount same as it.
    click on "Column Property" of 2nd expense amount then click on "Conditional Formatting" then "Add Condition" and give condition on 1nd Expense(like is greater than 5000) then click on "OK" button, as you click ok edit format window will appear: from that choose "Data Format" tab nd click on check box as override default data format. choose Treat Text As custom and write *@[html] @H <b>high </b>*.
    Remember in your report just show 2nd expense amount. It will work as you want.
    hope you got your answer.................

  • Format Text tab is missing from Edit on Top Level Site home page

    Hello,
    Hoping for some help - not sure where to go with this.
    I've been working on a SharePoint site for my company.
    I need to change the top level site main page text layout to 3 columns.
    I am pretty sure I was able to do this a few days ago but now when I edit the page the Format Text tab is not there.
    I can get it on all my sub sites, just not the top level site.
    I must have screwed this up somehow but I haven't a clue as to how to get it back.
    Thanks
    Steve

    Hi Steve,
    It sounds as though the site template for your root web is a team site or general collaboration site that is using content pages stored in the sitepages library. Is that correct? If you are using publishing features than you could set a custom layout in
    the "pages" tab, but it sounds as though you do not have this feature.
    A workaround could be to create a new page with 3 columns, copy your homepage content to this new page and finally set the new page as your homepage.

  • Need help formatting text field default value

    Hello,
    I've received a customer request to put default text into the Value section of a text field. They're requesting that the default text include line breaks, bullets, etc. I added a Text Field object and added the default text to the Object tab > Value tab Default field but can't figure out how to add line breaks, etc.
    Thanks in advance,
    Saskia

    Hi,
    this is possible but not doable with the UI of Designer.
    The workaround is as follows:
    1. Create a text, enter your default text with all the formattings you need (text color, bold text, line breaks etc.)
    2. Create a text field and enter any word as default value. Let's say "Default".
    3. Select the text and the switch to the XML Source view.
    There you will find all the formatted text between the <value> tags such as:
    <value>
         <exData contentType="text/html">
              <body xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:xfa="http://www.xfa.org/schema/xfa-data/1.0/"><p style="letter-spacing:0in">This is<span style="xfa-spacerun:yes"> </span></p><p style="color:#ff0000;letter-spacing:0in">default Text</p><p style="letter-spacing:0in"><span style="xfa-spacerun:yes"> </span>• with<span style="xfa-spacerun:yes"> </span><span style="font-weight:bold">RichText</span> formatting.</p></body>
         </exData>
    </value>
    4. Select the whole code between the <value> tags and copy it to the clipboard (ctrl + c).
    5. Go to the Design View, select the text field, go back to the XML Source view.
    6. There you'll also find the value <tags> and your default value you entered before.
    <value>
         <text>Default</text>
    </value>
    7. Select this code section and paste the value copied before to the clipboard by pressing ctrl + v.
    8. That's it. When you now go back to the Design View your text field shows a formatted RichText as defaul text.

  • Formatting text notes linked to BPs in PCUI

    Hello all,
    In PCUI we add texts to BPs by the standard notes functionality. This is plain text without formatting possibilities.
    However we would very much like to be able to add formatting like bold characters, tabs and even tables.
    Does someone have any experience in this?
    Best regards,
    Boris Dingenouts

    Hi Ranjan,
    Thanks for your reply. We have the solution you propose as an alternative in case we are not able to format notes. The disadvantage of using attachments is that it is not easy to report on the contents. The customer wants to have a report which includes masterdata, activity data and also (formatted) text data which is all stored in CRM.
    Therefore we would prefer to have something like a HTML editor included in the PCUI which stores it's texts in the standard notes tables. I know a Mobile Sales customer who did the same in Mobile but we don't know how to do this in the PCUI.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you and best regards,
    Boris Dingenouts

  • It is possible to Display HTML Formatted Text?

    Hi
    This is what I want to accomplish:
    I created a system and now I want to add a help button on each page. This button will open a popup window which will display the help of the current page. (This is done)
    But now I want to display a formated text (plain or html) just like this example:
    h2. Help
    Page 20:
    Description:
    This page displays a list of users.
    And don't like this other:
    Help Page 20: Description: This page displays a list of users.
    Thanks a lot!

    This is still a problem...I'd like to add a bit to it.
    The HTML Editor correctly places formatting tags around the text and the item is saved to the db (or whatever)...however, when displaying the formatted text on an apex generated page, and it doesn't matter what type of DISPLAY (saved, non-saved, escape, etc..) is being used, Apex places <SPAN class="display_only"> around the text in question which is apparently overriding the html tags, so the text displays in the CSS defaults regardless of the formatting used by the HTML Editor. The reason the formatted text displays correctly in a "report" is because this span doesn't exist.
    I'd like to take the time to add a change request and request that item level classes are not buried within apex and the theme. It would be nice if they were displayed on the item, for example, so they could be easily removed or overrided...this span for example overrides even a TD level custom class because of it's placement, so there seems to be little or no way to override it.

  • Date not being displayed in the custom format

    Hi ,
      I have a problem wherein i am unable to change the format of the date.
    I need the date to be in the format 'January 10,2010.' however the date is being displayed as '1/10/10'. I have tried all options for the date formatting. I specified the custom format as 'MMMM D,YYYY' as mentioned in the SAP Library. I am trying to use the std custom options like YYYY-MM-DD, the date is not being dispalyed in the custom format provided by SAP either.
    I have binded date from the context, used the Current Date field provided by SAP.  Nothing works.
    Its not working on the new form. However the old forms have the same kind of formatting and are being displayed as desired.
    Please suggest as to what the issue could be.
    Thanks,
    Soumya.

    Hi All,
    Even I'm encountering the same issue. I'm trying to control the outputted date format programmatically.Please have a look.
    data: v_int_date like sy-datum,
            v_ext_date(10).
    v_int_date = '20110201'
    write v_int_date to v_ext_date MM/DD/YYYY.
    Here I've tried to convert the date to external format using a fixed format(MM/DD/YYYY). But still it's getting outputted in the format DD/MM/YYYY only as that's the way its defined in the User Master!
    Is there any solution for this? How can I 'override' defaults in the SAP User Master?
    Thanks,
    Mahesh

  • Missing Format Text, Insert, and Edit Source, etc Options on Some Pages

    I’m having trouble understanding why certain pages have more edit options than others. I’m new to Sharepoint Workspace 2010 and I’ve been reading/ researching for answers for 2 days now. I tried to HyperSnap in some pictures however it will not allow me
    to until my account is verified and it's not sending a verification email, sorry!
    Issue:
    On some pages, I have the edit pencil with lots of great edit options such as Format Text, Insert and Edit Source. (This is good!)
    On some pages I have no edit pencil, but when I go to Page
    à Edit Page à I get few edit options, not including Format Text, Insert or Edit Source. (This is not good)
    After reading other somewhat similar posts, I noticed that on the pages where I get lots of edit options, they show SitePages in the URL. Where I get few edit options, SitePages is not in the URL.
    Is there a fix so that I can have the expanded edit options in all of my pages? Thank you for your help!

    Hi,
    In SharePoint we don’t have edit page options [ribbon toolbar page edit formatting options] for all types of page for application page we cannot edit application page like site pages
    again the missing edit button might be due to many causes:
    Can you verify that it's not a permissions issue? Try navigating to the page in edit mode by appending to the url: your-site/Pages/YourPage.aspx?ControlMode=Edit&DisplayMode=Design
    Or you can try this
    your-site/Pages/YourPage.aspx? ?ToolPaneView=2
    1. You can check  that on some pages the ribbon is hidden by default. You need to make it visible by clicking on "Show Ribbon" on the "Site Actions" drop-down menu.
    2. You haven't been doing Visual Upgrade (which actually replaces your master page with the v4.master)
    3. If you have different master page and may be your master page is not 100% compatibile with SP2010, nor does it use the elements from v4.master (collaboration) or the example nightandday.master
    To add the button in your page you could use the <SharePoint:PageStateActionButton id="PageStateActionButton" runat="server" Visible="false" /> (if you've seen already that would generate the button on the left side of
    the ribbon)!
    Please can you ping the URL of the page and how you crated that page to further assist, we would be happy to help.
