Custom icons not showing up when I drag a folder into the dock

I have a dock in 10.6 (on the left side, going vertical, if that matters). I've dragged a few folders into it, each containing Aliases to various programs. I've set custom icons on these folders, so I can tell at a glance what's in each folder (since it won't fan out for a vertical dock). But even after I rebooted, the dock isn't showing my custom icons but rather kind of an overlay of the various icons in each folder. What am I doing wrong?

Custom icons not showing up in installer dialogs

What are the steps that are required to get a custom icon to show up in the installation dialogs?
I have custom icons setup in the application descriptor xml file for my app... and they do show up in the OS after I install the application but I don't see the icon showing up in the install dialogs.
Any ideas why the custom icons are not showing up in the installation dialogs?

You need to sign your app with a certificate that chains up to a trusted root certificate. In general that means you need to get a cert from verisign or someone like that. If you get the friendly warning dialog on the first installer screen rather than the scary one with lots of red x's, you should then see your image

Custom icons not showing in Google Maps

I have saved to my public Dropbox folder some custom icons (this folder was recommended by the icon developer).
The icons can be used and viewed on Google Maps when using IE but not using FF 8.0.

That is a problem with CORS (Cross-Origin Resource Sharing).

So, I just purchased, apple TV and the latest Mountain Lion 10.8.5. I can mirror my IPad and Iphone with no problems, so why is the icon not showing up on my top bar like all the youtube tutorials?

I assume that you did not check before buying, if you had you would have seen that your Mac is too old for Airplay Mirroring to work:

No Audio When I Drag A Clip Into The Composition

When i try to put audio into a composition it is removed and no audio comes up. It is not a RAM preview issue as there is no audio to play. When i import any clip into after effects it works fine but if i try to add it to a composition the audio is taken away and there is not even a waveform. I tried converting the audio to a .wav format but that still doesnt work. I have tried this with after effects cs6 and cs5 but the prblem is the same. I have a mid 2011 imac with an i5 processor. I have even tried using bootcamp and trying to use after effects on the windows side but i still have the same problem. Please help as this is getting frustrating and it's probably a simple issue.

Yeah, convert whatever kind of MPEG file you're using to something like Quicktime's PNG or animation codecs -- with audio, of course -- and try again. MPEG files can contain multiplexed, or muxed, audio: the audio is embedded in the video, there's no separate audio track, so AE can't see it.
Astounded by the large size of the file after conversion? Get used to it.

Compatibility icon not showing up when I "share" my file (want to save in different format)

I'm trying to save my file as "avi", but I can't find any way for me to do that. I searched up how to export it into a different format and saw that there is a compatibility icon. However, when I tried to do that, it wasn't there. I also downloaded video converting apps and I just wanted to see if there is an easier way to convert it, especially if I end up having a big file.
I have iMovie Version 10.0.4.
Any ideas on how I can export it as a different format?

Although possibly not related to your problem, I will remind you that the version of Firefox you are using at the moment has been discontinued and is no longer supported. Furthermore, it has known bugs and security problems. I urge you to update to the latest version of Firefox, for maximum stability, performance, security and usability. As for your question, hopefully this support article is what you need:
If you access your history, you can see that it is sorted by date (you can sort it by other criteria, if you want). Maybe that is the source of the confusion?

Some custom icons not showing up in Launchpad

I know this is a strange question to ask on official help forums - but with the decline of MacThemes, resources have been difficult to come by.
The situation: I am theming my Mavericks icons both manually and with the latest version of CandyBar as of 11/9/2013. iTunes does not seem to want to change its icon in LaunchPad.
What I've tried: CandyBar, Manually theming, log out, reboot
Any suggestions?

When I drag a picture into the timeline it is magnified like 7 times, and can't use it

I was using Adobe 8.0 Premier all year and all this weekend. Everything worked fine. (I never upgraded to 9.0 becasue presets won't carry over and didn't want to recreate all of them)
I decided to do an instant movie. When it started the title page was really magnified. I didnt tlike the order, so I quit the process and restarted PE8.
Upon restarting, every image I drag to the timeline is magnified like 5 to 7 times. If I double click the image form the project tray the image looks good. I just can't drag and drop. I need to edit effect to .13% of value in the motio tab to get the picture to fit.
I uninstalled 8 and reinastalled. I installed the updates. Still nothing. I cant figure out what is happening.
Is there a setting or something.

(One goofy thing I noticed after the Instant Movie goof - all my pictures in the tray have like a little (red circle and green square) icon in the upper right.

Under Edit> Preferences> General uncheck "Default Scale to Frame Size". This will work for future added stills. For those already added right-click the image in the timeline and uncheck "Scale to Frame Size".

I have downloaded some podcast files and added lyric into its lyric tag by Itunes.
These podcast have been synced at last time, so this time I manually put lyric again and re-sync them aimed to see lyric on my iphone.

This is a HUGE iOS bug.. Following a tip from another poster, I was able to fix the issue (temporarily).
This worked for me on Verizon.
I dialed *228 on my Verizon phone. I pressed "1" to activate it over the air. I then went into task manager and killed all the running apps.. Waited a few minutes.
The next text I got displayed the number correctly!.. Until I rebooted, that is.

Running FCP6.06 on lion and losing one audio trac when I drag a clip to the sequence

I was able to get FCP6.06 working on my new macBook pro with lion. Edited for over a week. Now it is acting up. When I drag a clip into the timeline only track 2 audio shows up. any ideas?

Make sure the track selectors are connected properly in the patch section on the left part of the Timeline.

I have just downloaded a free app and there is no icon and it will not open from the list even tho it appears to have downloaded and the "open" button is available. Does not show up when I search for it. Plenty of memory . . .

I Have an iPad mini running iOS 7.1.2, I downloaded a new app and it's icon does not appear anywhere ( have ~ 180 apps so not at limit) and it won't open from the purchased apps list. It does not show up when I search for it so can't open t that way either. It doesn't require iOS 8. Can't delete and reinstall, cause not icon. This is not a normal "app won't open" question. it doesn't start the. Stop it just doesn't seem to exist. Any help is appreciated

HT4557 Homesharing house icon not showing in menu bar & hr glass circle only half full on ipod when trying to connect to library.

I seen others with the same issue and I read through the links and did not find the answer. In my instance, the homesharing is enabled in iTunes (version 11.5) and on my ipod 4 (version 6.1.3), but in iTunes the house icon and well as the “SHARED” part of the side menu do not show. When I select the library in my ipod the hr glass circle gets half way filled and then stops.
I was thinking it might be my router, so I changed the security settings from WPA to WPA2 (as others have tryed which fixed thier issue) and back with no luck. There was a firmware update that was needed on my router, but that didn't fix it either.
Shouldn't the house icon appear in iTunes regardless whether there is an internet connection to the other device (in this case my ipod)??? I had homesharing working on my old netbook a year or two ago and I thought the house icon always showed when enabled whether I had my system connected to a router or not. I could be wrong though.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you for providing the details of the Home Sharing issue you are experiencing. The Home Sharing icon is not always visible. If you would like it to show so that you can verify you are signed in with the correct account, you can follow these steps:
Go to File > Home Sharing and choose Turn Off Home Sharing.
Choose File > Home Sharing > Turn On Home Sharing.
When prompted, enter the Apple ID you'd like to use.
Click Turn On Home Sharing, then Done.
After you press done, it is normal for the Home Sharing icon to disappear. I found these steps in the article listed below. I recommend reviewing the full article to troubleshoot issues with Home Sharing:
