  • Support multiple languages in ESS-Portal (Webdynpro)

    Hi,
We are customizing ESS and Portal using Webdynpro.  I have couple of questions here:
    A. ESS can support multiple languages but requires language configuration, where I need to do that?
    B.  We are implementing ERP04 ESS (Webdynpro services) there may be additional configuration of the homepage framework for specific languages in the the backend, where I need to configure in portal side?
    Can you help me out?

The portal picks up the browser language setting and shows the content accordingly. That works for Business Packages too. There is a language settings in your user profile for languages when the browser language is not supported.

  • Support multiple languages

I want to do a web page in jspx, jsf.
support multi languages. I use properties files but
ı dont do is english selected promt = hello
is germany selected prompt = hallo like this.
    please help.
    thanks

you put all your properties in your project (res folder)...
when the user choose the language, you load the appropriate file (text files or xml files)
and you parse it, store the texts in an Hashtable...
in your app, you should have a text initialization like:
// getTextFor(String) is a method created in your MIDlet to retreive
// the texts contain in the hashtable !
    helloStrItem = new StringItem("helloStringItem", getTextFor("text1");
// so for an english choice, getTextFor(String) will return "hello",
// for an english choice, getTextFor(String) will return "bonjour"
// and for a german choice, getTextFor(String) will return "guten tag"

  • Does Siri support multiple languages

I live and work in a multilingual environment. As a result, I often have to send SMS and emails in English, French, Italian or Portuguese. With the keyboard, I am used to switch language with the globe key next to the spacebar. With Siri however I am not sure how this can work. When it does eventually support the above languages, will I be able to use different languages without changing the whole telephone setting? Can one say "send email to my wife: buongiorno amore"? It would be a real letdown if the coolest feature of iOS 5 were unusable to me...
    Thanks

Yes, exactly. I am using Siri in English since she gets better along with the rather easy synthax (compared to German). Unfortunately you cannot switch directly when writing a message. For example, if you tell her to "write a message to my wife", you may immediately dictate what you want to say but only in English. If I want to write her in German instead, I will have to tap once on the message area. She then instantly changes to German (or any other language that was used as keyboard before) which also affects Siri's voice recognition. But one tap is reasonable.

  • How do we translate custom OAF pages to Multiple languages

    Hi All,
I have some custom OAF pages and need to be translated to Arabic specific format.
I find that all the OAF page,components,lables... are stored in JDR tables.
We applied NLS patch for arabic localization and custom pages are not being translated.
So how do we translate the ciustom OAF pages to to specific language.
I saw that we require .XLF(translation file for each languge ) file for each page in the mds directory of Product TOP for seeded pages.
So how do I generate traslation file for my custom page.
Any help on this would be of great help....
    Thanks in advance.
    Nagu

    Hi,
For custom OAF pages we need to generate the .xlf files and add the translations and import to MDS.
can use the follwing to command to extract
    D:\Jdeveloper\jdevbin\jdev\bin\xliffextract /temp/oracle/apps/fnd/finapps/webui/EmployeeInfoPG -includeSubpackages -mmd_dir D:\Jdeveloper\jdevbin\jdev\lib\ext\jrad\config\mmd -root D:\Temp\XLIF\XXTFRMSLAUC19 -xliff_dir D:\Temp\XLIF\XXTFRMSLAUC19 -source db -username apps -password apps -dbconnection "(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST==incq027bc.idc.oracle.com))(PORT=1521))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=des9i2)))" -languages ar-AE
Now add the translations in the .xlf file and import to MDS.
can use the following import command
java oracle.jrad.tools.trans.imp.XLIFFImporter $JAVA_TOP/temp/oracle/apps/fnd/finapps/webui/EmployeeInfoPG.xlf -username apps -password apps -dbconnection "(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(Host=incq027bc.idc.oracle.com)(Port=1521)) (CONNECT_DATA=(SID=des9i2)))"
    Thanks,
    Nagu

  • Does callout boxes support multiple languages

We need to show videos with callout boxes containing the help text but is it possible to have multi language support where the user can select their own language?
We really cant produce every video for every language.
    Thanks for your help

Yes, exactly. I am using Siri in English since she gets better along with the rather easy synthax (compared to German). Unfortunately you cannot switch directly when writing a message. • How to Format a number to support multiple languages

I am trying to format a number so that it shows up with the corret decimal separators and thousands separators for different regions/languages, but can't seem to.
123456.223 is 123,456.223 (US English) and 123 456,223 in French (France)
I don't know how many such regional settings are being used and what the decimal and thousands separators are.
If you set the Format to 'System Default Number Format', all is well (But I have to live with 2 digits after the decimal). However, if I want to customize it by saying choosing one of the preset formats or using 'Customize'(say 3 digits after the decimal, for example), then, if I am designing the report in US English setting, the separators from that setting are used, even when the report is generated in French locale. Even if I try to put in a condition for these separators and use 'DefaultAttribute', it doesn't seem to help.
One workaround is to format the number as a string and display the string instead (this time use ToText() function and provide the no. of decimal places needed). But I have aggregations based on this field and they don't work in with string fields.
Could someone advise me if there is a way to solve this problem? (I'm hoping that there is some way, perhaps an easy one to overcome this problem.) It seems anytime I want to change the default setting, the current values are stored and used irrespective of the reigonal setting.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Raghu

Use the default settings and then it should format according to the local PC settings.

  • Does jsp in OAS 4.0.8.1 supports Multiple Language?

    Hi,
I've tried using encoding=Big5 for chinese rendering but it throws an UnsupportedEncodingException. Any idea if jsp in OAS supports this?
    Thanks.
    regards,
    Hong Seng

I don't know. However here is more information for you. JSP requires you specify the page encoding using the IANA character set names. Java APIs require its own (JSDK) character set names. To work correctly JSPs must map the IANA name to a JSDK name. OJSP uses the sun.io.CharacterEncoding CharacterEncoding.aliasName() method to translate. It is entirely possible this method doesn't support your mapping/name. I would suggest you write some code that runs outside of JSP to determine what mapping this method supports.

  • Support multiple language and timezone

    Hi experts,
My company is going to use ondemand for asia countries. Each country will be using their local language. In this case, how can we set up the system where
user A in Japan can see the account in Japanse and record is logged in Japan timezone. The currency is default to Japanese Yen.
user B in Thailand can see the account in Thai and record is logged in Thailand timezone. The currency is default to Thai baht.
    Thanks.
    Sab,

    Sab,
When you create their user ID you set their locale defaults, you also need to do all the language translation for their page views, and setup the exchange rates.
    regards
    Alex

  • How do we translate Custom JSP pages to Multiple languages

    Hi All,
I have custom JSP pages in my appplication.
I need to convert them to arabic specific.
Is there any way out for this as like we do translation for OAF pages.
    Please suggest....
    Thanks,

    Nagu,
You can use ResourceBundle / FND Messages to retrive the page text in JSP Code instead of hardcoding it.
