Custom itemRenderer not working on initial drop down, one reuse of an IR and it works, ideas?

I've created a spark DropDownList extension which has icons next to the label. To do this I use a skin for the DropDownList, where I added logic and an Image component (which renders the icon from a byte array in the DropDownList's dataProvider) and a Label Component, and a spark ItemRenderer extension, which has itself an Image component (which renders the icon from the same byte array on the DropDownList's dataProvider) and a Label component.
The component works, but on doing the initial drop down (when the DropDownList is 'opened') no icons are shown (although the space for them is there). As soon as I move through the list (by using the scrollbar or the mousewheel) the icons appear (all icons on the shown on the list at the same time, even if the scroll is moved only one item up or down).
Has anyone an idea why this might be happening? Or,
is there a way I can call an 'update' or 'refresh' or 'reuse' renderers function directly on the IR itself?
The component works as expected as soon as one IR on it is reused, but I can't find out why...

when I did the BonusPlan workshop szenario, I had the same problem.
On my demo system, it was solved by login on as a user having the "Business Configuration" work-center and just entering this work-center. The system automatically went into a modal state with a messagebox saying "Updating your configuration profile" (or something like that), which took several minutes to finish. This updating seems to be triggered by the activation of the new Busines Configuration Set.
After that, the drop-downlist in the business GUI of the bonusplan-items were filled with the configured options.

SAP Exit processing type is meant for Business Content variables only ( which are provided by SAP), if you want to create a variable & use exit in that, choose Customer Exit option.

My camera will does not appear in the drop down for importing videos even though it is listed as a supported camera - sony hdr-xr260

You can usually find the imported IE Favorites in a folder ("From Internet Explorer") at the bottom of the Bookmarks Menu folder (Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks).
If you can't find them in the "From Internet Explorer" folder then try this:
Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export<br />
Import the HTML file in Firefox 3: Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File

MM-creating a PO - vendor could not be found thru drop down list.

we could not find a vendor while creating a PO- normally we slect the vendor by the help of drop down list, in several monts it happend that vendor was not availble in drop down list, since we knew that this vendor is definately exists in our vendor master. then we searched in cvendor maser - yes it is there. then why not sow in drop down list.
later we tried agian and agian and finelaly we found it in drop down
note that
1- we tried all the mean by sorting vendor name, number etc could nto find)
2- we got all vendros - as we removed the general limit of 500 hits.
3- then we checked in vendor master - it was there.
my worry is
1- to know how it happend. and how it corrected itself.
2- does it happen frequently.
3- if it can happen for no reason (or hidden logical reason) then in som ecases we can make some mistakes, in same process or
in other proces of HR, MM, PM FI etc,
waiting your valueable share, guiide and advice.

Illustrator CC - Tools not allowing access to drop-down options
For example, I want to change the shape from rectangle to an oval, the press and hold on the rectangle shape (by default) will not give access to other shape options. Or, for another example, the text tool won't allow access to type on path options.
Can anyone help me out on this? I running a very new PC and Illustrator CC (latest copy).

The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
If possible/applicable, you should save curent artwork first, of course.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Thanks for the welcome Karsten! I’ve checked the installer disks – which appear to have all the main pieces of software, but not iDVD. If you or anyone knows where it might be hidden that would be great. Thanks for all the other info too!
Thanks Lennart – I don’t think my computer could support iLife ’05 as it is running Mac OSX 10.3.2 and I’ve just been looking at its system requirements which state it requires 10.3.4 minimum – if you know differently, please let me know. As an alternative I have considered getting iLife ’04, but your comment about iLife ’05 being the first version to support external drives worried me (“iDVD 5 is the first iDVD version that officially supports external burners“ does this mean there is an unofficial option for iLife ‘04? Perhaps a patch similar to the one mentioned by Karsten), does that mean iLife ’04 would not support an external Lacie DVD writer?
What is the earliest version of Toast I’d be able to use (as a money saving option!)?

When you have iPhoto and Contacts open and try to drag a picture for iPhoto to the Contacts photo frame do you get a + symbol? if not you should! from there the the pop menu should appear and then you can select the picture and click on done
