Custom JOptionPane returning array

Question

I have built a JPanel that dynamically sizes itself based on user input. If a user wants to open 3 files then the jpanel will contain three rows. Each row has a label, textfield and button. Clicking the button open a JFileChooser and sets the textfield to the absolute path of that file. My question is this. How can I make a custom JOptionPane or custom Dialog that will return the values of either the files or the (String)AbolutePath. Is this even possible?

Here is an example of what I would like to do, but of course, this does not give me my desired effect.
private File[] selectFiles(int numFiles) {
        FilePanel[] filePanels = new FilePanel[numFiles];
        JPanel panel = new JPanel(new GridLayout(numFiles,1));
        for(int i=0;i<numFiles;i++){
            filePanels= new FilePanel(i);
panel.add(filePanels[i]);
String files = (String) JOptionPane.showInputDialog(profitChart,panel);

// but, of course, there is also a textfield that returns the value.
// I would like it to return the values of my textfields, containing
