Custom kernel not detecting usb.

I built custom kernel (kernel26mm) and when I boot it it doesn't detect USB.
[dheart@lightbringer dheart]# cd /proc/bus/usb
bash: cd: /proc/bus/usb: No such file or directory
[dheart@lightbringer ~]$ lsusb
[dheart@lightbringer ~]$
and the out of lsusb on arch's kernel is:
[dheart@lightbringer ~]$ lsusb

  • Windows 7 x64 not detect USB 3.0 in H97 PC Mate

Hello, from I was installed W7 and update usb 3.0 drivers using MSI Live update W7 not detect USB 3.0 like that.
I tried uninstall and reinstall drivers with the same result. W7 show a dialog and tell me "This devices can go faster if use a USB 3.0 port" (more or less, I'm spanish and I'm sure I've done a poor traduction sorry)
    Any ideas?
    Thanks and greetings!

    Hello!
Try to uninstall all drivers related to USB, uninstall MSI LiveUpdate. Reboot. Use CCleaner to clean registry. Reboot. Then install drivers listed here:

  • IPod 4th gen grayscale will not detect usb connection.

Hello everyone, I have a iPod 4th gen grayscale and I'm running Ubuntu, everything has worked well for about a year now, I have been syncing my iPod through VirtualBox with Windows XP for as long as I have been using Linux, though, for some reason, my iPod has stopped noticing my usb being connected, I know it's not the usb cable, or the usb ports, I have restarted my iPod and put it into disk mode, still no luck, restarted my computer, Linux will not detect anything plugged in, nor will Windows, though my iPod shows the battery charging when plugged in, but iTunes will not detect the iPod.
I have switched the hard drive of the iPod out seeing if that was the problem, still no luck, my car dock will pick up the iPod and play music, so will my other docks, I thought it might of been Linux at first, so I plugged it into my desktop with Vista, it also will not detect it.
Does anyone have an answer to this riddle?

A bad USB hub will cause the problem ... are you using it ??

  • OSX ni-daqmx base does not detect USB-6216

USB-6216 is not detected on macbook pro retina late 2012 with NIDAQMX base installed even though the board is listed as supported.
Other boards (i.e. USB-6008) work. The 6216 works prefectly using win7 in a virtual machine on the same macbook; when the wirtual machine is on max asks whe the borad has to be connected and answering win TWO devices are connected to win (i.e. Firmware loader and 6216)
If the virtual machine is off nothing is asked, however,  when 6008 is connected its led starts blinking, while nothing happens on the 6216.
A listing of the USB devices in the case of 6216 shows:

    Anyone may help?
    Thanks

    Dear Cindy,
many thanks for your replay. I think it will be quite useful.
I should have the last driver revision (downloade one week ago...) and the board is a screw type. I have not checked it on another mac, but I will try to find one.
The part on the lsdaq is the most interesting for me: my lsdaq shows no boards at all (it shows something similar if I connect a 6008 board so it is working), but the mac detects an USB device (listed as vendor specific) as:
     Vendor-Specific Device:
                  Product ID: 0x7269
                  Vendor ID: 0x3923  (National Instruments)
                  Version: 0.00
                  Speed: Up to 480 Mb/sec
                  Location ID: 0x1d110000 / 6
                  Current Available (mA): 500
                  Current Required (mA): 100
As you see the product id is different. I suspect the problem is in the board firmware: when I connect the board and the win virtual machine is on, parellels asks me if I want to route the board to win. If I say yes after few seconds it asks if I want to route a second device which is labeled as 6216. It seem the board starts presenting one device and then it 'boots' a second device only after some driver operation.
May I ask you to check the board firmware using FWUpdate.app located in /Application/NI-DAQMx Base/bin/ ?
I contacted NI and maybe this can help them. When did you buy the board? Can you read the product id on the back of your board?
    Many thanks again
    Marco

  • [Solved]StlinkV2-1 kernel not detecting the device

I have a stm32 board which have stlink with it. I installed the stlink and all the necessary udev rules are there. If enumerated properly it will create a serial device  /dev/ttyACMx  and will also show a fat partition.
When the board is connected and i restart the computer it works fine, serial port is there. But when the computer is running, i remove and insert again the usb cable it is not recognised. I get the following error in dmesg

    [ 355.793280] usb 3-7: can't set config #1, error -71
but if i reset all the usb ports using
    # reseting USB2 ports
    for i in $(ls /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd/|grep :)
    do echo $i >/sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd/unbind
    echo $i >/sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd/bind
    done
    # reseting USB3 ports (if there none you'll get errors)

    do echo $i >/sys/bus/pci/drivers/xhci_hcd/unbind
    echo $i >/sys/bus/pci/drivers/xhci_hcd/bind

It works fine. I have H97 MSI gamer 3 board.

I got it working. Actually the cable was faulty. I tried with other cable and it worked fine. But strange thing is that after usb reset old cable works fine.

  • Thinkpad S430 - not detecting USB 3.0 external HDD

I've noticed there are a lot of issues reported with usb 3.0 on lenovo laptops. Mines is a little different to the ones I've read so far.
Its an iomega drive and is usb 3.0, it was working a few months ago but recently decided to stop. I have no idea what could have changed to stop it from working, I use this particular drive infrequently.
The issue is that I connect the drive t the laptop, it lights up but doesn't get detected at all by windows. so far I've done the following:
    - checked the drive letter in device manager
    - unisntalled all usb devices from device manager and then rebooted and re-installed
    - re-installed the Lenovo USB 3.0 extensible controller drivers
    - tried the Intel variant of the USB 3. Extensible hard drive
    - tried different ports
    - tried another 2430 laptop - it didn't work on that one either!
    - tried it on a HP laptop - WORKED FINE
    - didabled power management on the usb root device(s)
    - plugged it into the laptop whilst watching the device manager doesn't refresh, thinks nothing has been added.
    - scanned for new hardware, nothing comes up
    - installed the latest bios
    - set USB 3.0 mode to 'enabled' in the bios no difference.
    - set USB 3.0 mode to 'disabled' no difference
    - tried another USB drive (2.0) WORKED FINE
-checked to see if it is recognized on boot - it is not.
And most likely other stuff which I've forgotten. Really is quite frustrating, have had two major issues with this laptop (HDD died completely not too long ago, rendering my data lost) and now this.
I think the above narrows it down to it being an issue with reading USB 3.0 drives, unfortunately no one else I know uses USB 3.0 drives so can't test another...
Can anyone suggest something I've missed?
Thanks in advance for any pointers.

    Hello,
I am not familiar witheither  the ThinkPad S430 or the Iomega external USB 3.0 hard disk drive, but I wonder if the latter might not be receiving enough power over the USB cable.  Does the Iomega drive have an option to take power from an external AC adapter or second USB port?  If so, try providiing additional power and see if that allows the drive to be recognized when attached to the ThinkPad S430.

  • NF750-G55 - Does not detect usb mouse (have to plugin after boot into Windows)

    Topic says it all...
Mouse is Microsoft Habu, has been working in my old system just fine (ASUS M2N32-SLI DELUXE). The only usb items plugged in are the mouse and my Logitech G11 Keyboard.
I just upgraded my old rig to what you see in my signature, my mouse will not get detected unless I replug it in after windows has started.
During boot after initializing usb controller it says Found: 1 Keyboard and 1 Hub
I have tried the following but with no successful results:
PS2 Keyboard with mouse (mouse behaves the save)
Mouse w/usb->ps2 adapter (mouse lights up but doesn't do anything in windows)
Mouse plugged into every different port on the MOBO, D-Bracket, front panel usb or even into keyboard
Different mouse (boot says Found: 1 Keyboard, 1 Mouse, 1 Hub) and this mouse works all the time
    USB Legacy On/Off inside bios
I also have a USB powered hard drive (http://www.simpletech.com/products/storage/simpledrive-mini/red-wine-250gb.php) that when plugged into the motherboard was making a beeping sound but I can't find any information on what that means (if anything)
    Any ideas?

I had a similar problem with a couple of different boards, but with a Razer Copperhead mouse. I ended up just buying a new mouse (PS/2 type).

  • USB Ports on HP G60-230US Notebook Not Detecting USB Devices

I've had an HP G60-230US Notebook PC for about three and a half years now, and all of a sudden tonight my USB ports decided to all stop working.  I first noticed it when I tried to hook up my iPod to sync it and it didn't show up in iTunes.  I unplugged my wireless mouse to see if the other USB port would work with no luck, and when I plugged my wireless mouse back in it wasn't detected either.  I tried restarting my computer twice to see if that would take care of the problem but it didn't.
My notebook currently runs Windows Vista.  On a normal day I'll have my external harddrive (WD My Passport Essential 500 GB), my wireless mouse (Microsoft Wireless Mobile 3500) and my Targus Chillmat with 4 USB hubs in the back plugged into my 3 USB ports.  My printer is usually plugged into one of the Chillmat's USB ports.  When I want to sync my iPod I usually unplug the Chillmat because none of the USB hubs on it will detect the iPod.  At the moment my wireless mouse will still work if I leave it plugged into its USB port when I restart my computer, and all the chillmat is doing is cooling my laptop down.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

You may have exceeded the available power capacity of the USB ports in your notebook PC too many times. That can result in non functioning (forever)  ports. That is the specific reason that I recommend only using externally powered USB hubs.
You can check the current carrying capacity of the USB ports and see how much they are using via the device manager.
Open Device Manager and then right-click a USB root hub. Select properties and then the Power tab.
This particular system has many ports available.

  • Torch 9810 does not detect USB connection

The USB menu - you know, with the 3 blue boxes ? - has topped coming up when I plug the cable into my BB Torch. I can't load or download anything because the stupid frickin thing doesn't know it's plugged in. Phone makes the little "doo-doop" noise when I plug the USB cable in, but menu does not come up. Battery charge indicator comes on when I plug into a wall outlet, and th ebattery recharges so I know the port works (it's a 2 month old RIM battery). I've tried all 6 USB ports on my computer, and 3 different USB cables - it's not that. I tried a shutdown/restart, didn't help. I did a hard crash/restart by pulling the battery, didn't work. I'm getting pretty gawdamm fed up. Anybody got any ideas?

  • Macbook Pro not detecting USB network interface for iPhone 4S

    Hi all.
I have an iPhone4S and my service provider is Vodafone India. I was able to share my internet 3G connection (Personal Hotspot) via USB with my Macbook Pro until recently. I am running Lion. I am not able to do so anymore for some inexplicable reason. It still works fine with Wifi and Bluetooth, but no Internet via USB. I tried deleting the networkinterfaces.plist as someone suggested but no luck.
Am at my wits end. I am sure its not the Phone and I am sure the USB ports are ok since I can connect via USB stick dongle modems from 2 different service providers. But they are bboth dial up types.
Just the iPhone does nbot seem to work since it is supposed to connect automatically.
    Help please....anybody...
Thanks a ton for any feedback in advance.

  • [SOLVED] BIOS not detecting USB Drives after i installed Arch

SOLVED: In BIOS under 'Advanced' disable 'Fast BIOS Mode'.
    Original post:
    Hi there!
I'm fairly new to the arch (and linux) scene and just setup my Samsung 530U3B with a brand new installation of arch. Everything went fine and the system is running flawlessly. Almost.
I just happend to notice that BIOS is not checking for USB drives anymore, it just somehow skips that part. If enter the boot selection, the bootable USB drive won't show up. Neither does it show up in BIOS setup. I tried to boot with the same USB drive that i used to install arch just yesterday, the live media does not boot - the drive doesn't even blink. The boot priority is set to usb drive first, the boot selection screen (hammering f10 during boot) doesn't give me any other option than to boot from the normal SSD. Also, prior to the arch installation (came with w7 installed) the BIOS screen would stay for about 2seconds and then proceed to boot - this doesn't happen anymore. When i press the power button greeted by the grub bootloader in about 1s.
I tried 2 different usb drives, both with the arch iso (same that i used to install the currently running OS, downloaded yesterday). The drives also show up once my arch is booted (starting to blink just after i hit enter in grub). Also, both drives boot without a problem on my desktop computer.
    Anyone got any ideas?
I don't really now what kinda of information would be helpful so i'm just dumping stuff i know:
BIOS: Phoenix SecureCore Tiano Version 04XK
    Machine: Samsung 530U3B
    SSD: Samsung MZ7PC128HAFU-000
ISO used to install (checksum ok): archlinux-2012.07.15-netinstall-dual.iso

    Welcome to the forum.
If you just set the USB stick to be first in the boot order, the next option (from the list) takes its place the moment you unplug it. You need to set the BIOS to boot from your equivalent of "Removable Devices" first, "Internal Drives" second and "Optical Drives" third.
The USB stick doesn't show up at all. I set the priority as follows:
    1. USB HDD
    2. USB FDD
    3. USB CD
    4. SATA CD
    5. SATA HDD
    6. NETWORK
I used that same configuration to install arch. USB doesn't seem to initialize at all. Also, if i enter "usb" in the grub commandline, no devices are listed.
    Thanks!
    UPDATE:
I just figured it out. In my BIOS under 'Advanced' the 'Fast BIOS Mode' was enabled, once i disabled it, everything went fine. I don't remember changing that option. Silly me.
    Sorry for your time

  • Flash player not detecting Usb attached professional camera

    Hi,
    Details :
Our application uses below snippet of Flex 4.5 sdk code for detecting flash players :
    var camera:Camera = Camera.getCamera();
                    if (camera) {
                        camera.setMode(640,480,60,true);
                        camera.setQuality(1000,10000);
                        videoDisplay.attachCamera(camera);
                    else {
                        Alert.show("No Camera found with your computer");
Above code is fine for the Logitech webcam which am using, We have a requirement to detect Canon EOS digital cams to be recognized as well to detect with the flash player.
but its not recognizable in flash player.
    Any help is appreciated!

Any inputs on this please ? Is the getCamera not designed to detect external cams? or is it available in any other sdk versions? am using flex 4.5.1.x

  • Powerbook G4 won't detect USB 2.0 external hard drive

I recently purchased a Toshiba USB 2.0 portable external hard drive. I have both 15' and a 17' Powerbook G4s that are running on OS X 10.4.11. When I attempted to connect the new hardware to each of the computers neither recognizes that anything has been connected. The external drive does not appear on the desktop, in disk utilities, or TechTool. Both computers have 2.0 USB ports and the external hard drive is compatible to a Mac, but I cannot figure out why it will not show up. I have tried all of the suggestions I could find in forums discussing similar problems such as trying to repair the permissions with the Disk Utility First Aid feature, resetting the PRAM, as well as resetting the PMU, but to no avail. When I connect the device to a Windows based PC it shows up immediately; however, when I try to see it using the Virtual PC side of my Mac I am still unable to visualize the drive. This problem is only occurring with external hard drives and not particularly just this brand--I have tried others and had the same problem. All of my other USB devices that I connect to these computers work fine. Can someone please help and tell me why my Powerbooks will not detect USB external hard drives. Thanks!

External hard drive enclosures can be connected to computers in any of several ways. USB is one; FireWire is another. Some enclosures offer several different connection options: they may have any combination of USB2, FireWire 400, FireWire 800 and eSATA ports. All G4 And G5 Macs have FireWire 400 ports, and can start up from an external hard drive that is connected to one of those ports. No G$ or G% Mac can be depended upon to start up from any external drive that is connected to a USB port, though it may happen in a few cases. Because a FireWire-capable drive is bootable, it's much more useful than a USB-only drive in any situation where a primary hard drive has failed or has become temporarily unbootable because of file or directory corruption.
Bare hard drives nowadays come in two platter sizes: 2.5" for notebook computers and 3.5" for desktop computers. The sizes and shapes of their outside casings are tightly standardized to make them highly interchangeable. They also come in two types: Parallel ATA, also called IDE, PATA, or ATA-5, ATA-6 or ATA-7; and the newer Serial ATA, or SATA drives.
External enclosures are made to accept either PATA or SATA drives — rarely both types. If you have an external drive with only a USB2 port, and you can see how to open the drive enclosure to reveal the bare drive inside, it may be to your advantage to order an empty FireWire enclosure and "transplant" your bare hard drive into it to get the benefits of higher speed, bootability, and adequate power that come with FireWire.
External hard drive enclosures are designed to hold standard-sized bare hard drive units — the same units that can be mounted inside a desktop or notebook computer. An enclosure contains a place to mount the drive, a circuit board or two that mediates between the drive and the port to which you'll connect a USB or FireWire cable, and in the case of a 3.5" drive, sometimes a fan for cooling.
Portable FireWire-connectable external hard drives seldom or never have the problem of insufficient power that plagues so many portable USB hard drives when they're used with Powerbooks. For whatever reason, Powerbooks' USB ports just can't put out enough juice to run most portable USB drives, while their FireWire ports are able to do so comfortably.

  • Usb not detected in windows 8.1

    Hi,
First of all thank you. I am happy with your customer support. I had a problem with the unresponsive screen in my HP OMNI 10 which has been solved now.
Now i am facing a new problem with the USB. I have tried all the possible methods but i am not able to find a solution.
My USB drive is not detected whereas SD card is detected. I also ran a component test which showed failed.
    Please help me out.
    Thank You.

    Hey @varun_viswanath ,
Welcome back to the HP Forums!
I see your USB is not being detected by your Omni 10 tablet.
Can you tell me which drive you are connecting (make, model, and size please) and which OTG cable you are using for this?
It would also help to know which Omni 10 tablet you have. You can see here for how to find the model: Locating the HP Omni 10 Tablet model number.
