Custom Leader Dots

I should know this but am having trouble making uniform leader dots for a ToC
no matter the size/font of each line entry.
I did read one thread, but it wasn't clear. Someone suggested adding underline to a leader that
you can then customize with a dotted rule in character styles?
I have always done shift+dash in the leader field in tabs but this tactic doesn't give
me access to stroke options.
Thanks,
Jane

Thanks riott.girl. I must not have explained my situation
well enough. I have different font styles and sizes in the
Table of contents list. If you just use a period, for example, each line
entry will have a line of leader dots based on that
font size and style. This means they all look different.
I am trying to find a way to easily make them all the
same.
The only way to do that using your suggestion is to
then select each line of dots and set up different
character styles. But they won't be identical without
lots of work. The line of dots mimics the letterspacing
of the font. Some are tighter, some are more loose.
There must be a way to make them all identical without
so much fiddling.
If you're not sure what I'm talking about, set up a
list with different levels of text (like main head, subhead,
sub-subhead), style them differently and apply a period
in the leader box.

  • Tab with Leader Dots to Text that Covers Multiple Lines

I have a numbered list with copious amounts of information in it that is connected by leader dots.  It is very mush like a table of contents or a restaurant menu (e.g. "name of the dish" ........ $ price).  My case, however, has one simple nuance that breaks everything and is not explained by any of the conversations or documentation that I've been able to find via searches of this forum and the rest of the web.
What if the leader dots lead to something that does not fit on one line?
    Here's an example:
Basically, what I need is for everything between the Tab (which generates the leader dots) and the End of Paragraph (when I push Enter) to stay to the right of the dots.  Don't let my little example fool you, the lists I'm dealing with are very long and subject to change order drastically.  Surely, there must be a way to do this but I am completely lost.  I've considered just winging it and putting things in their own text boxes and forcing alignment manually through various methods.  But, again there is so much content and the order of it will almost surely change, so I want to keep everything in an editable, easy to work with format.
Thanks so much to whomever might have insight or advice on what to do!

    Hi Mike,
Why not a simply regex!    Nothing else to do … or to loose!

In Design CS 5.5 --- Question about Leader Dots ("RIGHT TAB")

    Can anyone help???

Apply a Character style to the tab character—don't try and do it from the Paragraph style. You can stay with a period as the leader and manipulate the size and spread of the dots via the character style. So here I've applied the Leader character style to the tab or the right indent tab and changed the point size and tracking of the style to make a leader with smaller dots and more spacing:

  • TOC bullet before leader dots (with pix)

Can someone help me make this bullet go away? For some reason, my TOC style is inserting a bullet in front of my leader dots. There is no bullet in the heading style that it is pulling from - and there is only a paragraph break after the header in the document. And yes, the bullets are printing. Thanks!

No need - you just helped me figure it out! I prepared a smaller version of the file to send to you saw that it didn't have the problem. So I compared the good version with the bad and noticed a difference in the TOC dialog box (between Entry and Number). The bad field showed "^8^t"  I changed it to "^t" and the bullets went away. Thanks!

  • FM10 Can't generate the TOC with leading dots

    Hi everybody,
I have read some useful threads here about this problem but I still can't seem to be able to resolve this leading dots issue for my TOC.
I have already ensured that the reference page for all of my frame files in my Book have the same Reference page TOC entry. When I generate my TOC the leading dots are missing!
I then open the Reference page for the TOC file as well and paste in the same TOC entries from my other frame files, and then update the book to regenerate the TOC.
This also does not solve the problem.
Any help resolving this issue would be really appreciated!
Here are screen shots of my Reference page for my TOC(below). I have ensured that this same section is present for all of my book's frame files too (in their Reference page sections for TOCs).
    ChapterTitleTOC
    Heading1TOC
    Heading2TOC:
    And my generated TOC

I have this happen all the time in FM9.
Do you already have a TOC in your book file with the correct reference pages?
Sometimes I have to do it twice, I don't know why, but if you have a TOC in your
book file and then make another TOC, mine usually works...just a thought..

  • Leader Dots

I created a paragraph style for leader dots to align $ amounts. It's not a TOC, but part of a form. It said to right justify, but the leader dots are not going all the way across the text box. They stop in the middle. How can I fix this? Thanks!

    Hard to say.
Right indent on the paragraph style? Frame margin on the right? Didn't set a tab all the way to the frame's edge?

  • Compensating for tabs and leader dots when converting to HTML

A FrameMaker document contains a series of "tables" which are actually very long lists. They have the appearance of a TOC: a text phrase, a long line of leader dots, a tab, and a numeral at the end of the dots.
Since the tabs and leader dots vanish when converting to HTML, what might I do to either reconstruct the missing dots or re-create the look of a table for these lists?
    Thanks,
    Karen

    Hello Karen,
There is no way to automatically replace the tabs or leaders. During the conversion all of the information is completely stripped away, leaving no trace of it in the html code.  In my documents I typically set them up like this:
    In FM
    Test Switch[colon][space] …………………..OFF
    Test Switch: …………………..OFF
    When converted to html
    Test Switch: OFF
There is another, but more difficult way to keep your tabs and leaders somewhat intact, by the use of tables. If you put the data in a table you can keep the information separated by columns and rows. Also you must manual put periods or dashed instead having FM do it. When this is converted to html the data will remain in the tables. By removing the borders of the tables in FM it will appear clean, however; once you convert it to html you’ll see the borders again. You can either leave it this way or control the table properties by a CSS.
I’m not sure how my examples will show on the Adobe Forum, but I put them in.
    In FM
    Test Switch
    OFF
    In FM without borders
    Test Switch
    OFF
    When converted to html
    Test Switch
    OFF
When converted to html with CSS
    Test Switch
    OFF
    I hope this helps

  • Office 2007 + Custom template (dot/dotm files) on terminal server -- issues

We are trying to transition to a terminal server + thin-client setup.
The TS runs Server 2008 R2, and the Office version is 2007 (for compatibility reasons -- we have a lot of macros etc that won't run with Office 2010).
The normal.dotm for Office, Excel & Word are customised in order to insert custom macros, font styling etc. A batch file runs on logon, copying the custom normal.dotm files from a network share to the local computer's C: drive in a folder called "Templates".
So it'd copy the data from "\\SERVER1\share\normal.dotm" to "C:\templates\" on the machine.
Then, a GPO would re-direct the location for the normal.dotm file from the default location to the new location (i.e. C:\Templates\) from above. This allowed updating of custom macros etc to all computers on the net. It was messy, but it worked.
Now that we're wanting to transition to terminal server, we're having an issue where the script still works, however when closing Outlook / Excel / Word, users are receiving a message stating "The file normal.dotm is in use".
I'm guessing what's happening is, the first person to log on to the Terminal Server and launch their instance of Outlook/Word/Excel is getting an exclusive handle to this file; And subsequently launched instances get this error.
There is nothing _wrong_ with the system per se -- everything works, however every time an Office app is closed, the user gets the annoying message.
What is the correct solution to this? Is there a cleaner way to deploy macros/styling settings rather than modifying normal.dotm? Another solution I can think of is to create a copy of the templates/normal.dotm for every single user in their %AppData% folder
and tell Office to use the %AppData% copy -- but this would mean as many copies of the templates as there are users which doesn't seem like a very clean solution.
I'm open to suggestions and insights on the cleanest and most efficient way to solve this problem.

    Hi
update to this issue from my side:
We opened a Support call for this issue and got it solved.
The SQL script to recreate a fresh Enterprise Global (eglobal.SQL) does not exist for Project Server 2013 currently. But the support created one for us. So if someone has this issue, contact Microsoft Support, they will provide you the script.

  • RSIMG (BW Customizing) leads to message "document not found"

    Hello,
when I try to open the transaction RSIMG (BW Customizing) in our SAP BW 7.0 systems, I get the message "Dokument wurde nicht gefunden" ( document not found ).
I get this on the newly installed SAP BW 7.0 development and production systems. I nearly have SAP_ALL athorizations and SU53 does not hint to any athorization problem. I also cannot find anything on this topic in the SDN.
Is this a normal behavior? Can it be fixed?
    Hope someone can help me.
    Best regards

I get exactly the same... to be honest, it's the first time I heard about that transaction. I always use SBIW or SPRO.

  • Nested Tab Leader Style for Price List Issue

    Hello,
I wanted set up a character style for a tab leader that makes the font weight light as opposed to the bold paragraph style. I tried two character styles, one as a tab leader, and one as a dotted underline and got different results.
When I set up the nested style on my paragraph style using the character style "Leader Dots" is changing the price from bold to light.
When I set up the nested style on my paragraph style using the character style "Dotted Line" the dotted underline goes to the full right-justified width.
Both issues I think are b/c the tab is right-justified. See the attached images for examples.
I am trying to figure out a way to have either character style stop before the price, but keep the price right-justified. So in a nutshell it would be… Bold item name / Light tab leader / Bold price
    Thank you for any help.

    Hi,
since you didn't mention how you solved it, here is the approach i would have taken
    - use skinning to add padding. This way you don't have to mess with the display data

  • CRM - Lead Status in BI Report not loading

Need to do reporting on CRM Customer Leads Management.
(for reference we are using BI 7 and CRM 5)
In the CRM system I have a field called status (with the data element being CRM_J_STATUS) and it has 6 different status values. E.g. Open, Assigned , in progress, closed etc
I am using the standard content cube 0MKTG_C01 and I have loaded the master data texts to the info object 0STAONESYS4 , which managed to get the correct texts from the CRM data element CRM_J_STATUS
I have loaded the data for the leads to the cube and even though I can see all other data, I can not see the status of the lead in any of the reports, (it just comes as not assigned) so I am trying to troubleshoot and I have found that when in the datasource/PSA on BI side the u201CBW Statusu201D field (which is mapped to what I believe is CRM_J_STATUS from CRM system) is not containing any data.  I know I am missing something here as the status of the lead can NEVER be empty, it has to be in one of the six states, and e.g as soon as it gets created it is in the open status.
Can someone please tell me if we need to do any configuration for this or if there is a flaw which I have in the way I have implemented this above reporting solution?
I have so far only used the BI Standard content stuff.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions.
    Many thanks in advanceu2026u2026u2026 JACK

I am having the same issue with Status Lead.
In CRM for  Leads I have 3 transaction types, each using the Status field for storing there own list of statuses as Jack had mentioned.
I am not sure if 0STAONESYS4 is the right field. This is being loaded as the navigational attribute for Lead GUID (0CRMLEAGUI).
When I check the texts in 0STAONESYS4 it does not have any of the status texts defined for status as in the 3 transaction types. So I started wondering if that's the right field I am looking at. There is another 0STAONESYS0 in BW and CRM but does have the right Status text.
    1) Can anyone tell us if the datatype for 0STAONESYS4 and 0STAONESYS0 is different from Status and where are they used and stored?
    2) Is there another field we should be looking at in BW or do we have to model it separately?
    3) The datasource Leader header has the status field but its extract structure does not have it. So how will this field be extracted? Probably it is with attributes of leads but do I need to model it as it is not available in BW?
Any insights on this issue will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Kumar.

  • Potential bug in javamail + qmail when email body starts with dots

I may have discovered a potential issue with using JavaMail + QMail server. It appears that if there is a message in my mailbox which starts with either one dot ('.') or a series of dots ('...hello there'), when I attempt to do a :
    inbox.fetch(messages, profile);
I get the following JavaMail error:
    javax.mail.MessagingException: error getting size;

    at com.sun.mail.pop3.POP3Message.getSize(POP3Message.java:100)

This issue seems to only occur on qmail. When I try to read the same email starting with one or multiple leading dots, I can retreive it without any issues.
Has anyone else experienced anything of the sort?

Almost certainly it's a QMail bug. Turn on session
    debugging and
examine the protocol trace to see what the server is
    really saying.
If you need help interpreting it, send it to us at

or post it here.you might be right. here's the output from the javax.mail debug mode. note that it appears that qmail potentially returns the headers as well as an extraneous dot ('.') and that is what causes the whole issue:

  • Customer Delivery Dates

    Hello Team,
I'm looking for information about where the Customer Lead-Times are maintained and how the delivery dates are calculated.  I did some research and found the Transportation Zone section.  Am I barking up the right tree.
When I create a Sales Order for a direct shipment (overseas crosscompany order), I'm expecting to get a delivery date based on Availability at the China plant.  Assuming that the PO processing time is maintained as well as the customer lead-time (to their door) I should get an expected delivery date.  How is that day calculated and where is it kept?
    Thank you
    Rico

    Hi Rico,
    The Process is as below
    1. Material Master lead time +
    2. Transportation time
Both these calculated through the avaialablity check, from PP and SD modules configuration. The Time take from your location from China would be calculation from the Transportation module and the  material avaialability depends on the lead time (which would be your production time for that material to be avaialble for you to ship it). The Lead time calculation depends on your MTO or MTS process in SD.
    Thanks and regards,
    R.Sudhir

  • Lead to Opportunity conversion

    Hi Guys,
We have new CRM online system. I have created a custom lead type by copying the Lead transaction type. When I create a lead and assign status "hot" & priority "very high" isnt it supposed to create an opportunity automatically? Or atleast it should send a workflow to the sales rep to manually create an opportunity. None of that is happening. Am I missing any settings for this?
