What is the most useful way to create a custom logo in illustrator?

I have created a logo using Illustrator CS5 and need to import it into a video sequence in Final Cut Pro 6. The logo has a transparent background. It seems FCP 6 will import both native .ai files as well as .tiff files, but when I open them in FCP 6, the alpha channel (transparent background) is no longer there; there is just the logo over a white background. Is there a setting or step I am missing?

I have to insert AI images into Final Cut Pro and Motion quite frequently.
The most effective way I've found to get an AI image into Final Cut is to:
1. Select/copy all the objects in the AI doc.
2. Create a new file with a transparent background in Photoshop and paste.
3. Merge the layers and make sure the mode is RGB.
4. Save out as a .PNG or .PSD.
5. Drag the result into Final Cut (or Motion).
6. Resize and position the result to taste.
Attempting to export directly from AI to .PSD or .PNG is a wasted effort and the results may not even be recognized by Final Cut.
Yes, it requires Photoshop and it is a few extra steps...but it works like a charm.
Additionally, when creating a new file in Photoshop, you may want to initially set its size to match the aspect ratio of your video. For example, if you're making an HD video, you might set the size to 1280x720 and position the AI elements where they are supposed to be in frame. You can set the AI elements in accurately by cutting and pasting a frame from your video into Photoshop and positioning the AI elements in place on another layer above the video layer. Delete the video layer before saving out as a .PNG or .PSD and it will appear in Final Cut exactly where it should be.

You shld be able to copy and paste your logo (after deleting the SAP logo). ..as you would do in regular excel. If sometimes it doesn't work...use the insert picture functionality......regular excel/MS way.

Just look in iDvd's pref's and uncheck the logo for apple. That will get rid of the item you don't want on the menu.
But then you will also need to create your own logo or import it into an app like PhotoShop and use layer/s for the main menu background. Much easier to do this in DVDSP than it is within iDvd.

That’s a start. Show us the outline view as well.Essentially, you want your outline view to look like hairline outlines around all the black areas. Anything that’s white should be a lack of artwork, rather than white artwork. A better way to work is with the transparency grid showing so you can see where you need to get rid of white.
You want: No strokes. Nothing white anywhere. Anyplace shapes overlap you want the shapes merged into one shape, like below.

2) This brings about changes that are user specific and so the changes do not reflect for other users. How does one make changes so that new logo is seen by all user who log in?

Trouble creating Logo in Illustrator

Hi Guys, I am fairly new to Illustrator and I am not getting the results I am looking for. I have a raster image which I'e edited in photoshop. I have removed the background and I now want to create a Vector logo in Illustrator making a sillhouette from the image extracted in photoshop. When I try to import/open the image in illustrator, it opens it but with a white background. I do not want this background as I want to use the logo on a variety of objects and media with different backgrounds. I need to create a single logo that can be reprinted on a business card as well as a 5 meter by 2 meter sign, this is why I decided to do the work in Ai. I have designed it in PS but now need to create the Vector and I cannot seem to get an invisible/transparent background.

Re-creating a jpg logo in illustrator

I am using jpg logos in an after effects project. Most logo images have a white background which I erase with photoshop. However when I use the image in the after effects project, small white lines appear on the side of the letters in the 3d logo (see image). Is there a way to clean the edges of the logo (i.e remove a traces of white) by recreating the logo in illustrator somehow? Someone on the after effects forum said it might be possible but I don't know how. Thanks alot.

Where is the extrusion being done, in after effects? Looks like the type has a fringe pixel in the edges.
You want to clean(or fill with black) that edge up in photoshop, prior to extruding. Put a dummy dark background layer in photoshop, and I believe you will see the fringe pixels, along with the center of the "a" not being knocked out.

Custom Logo in Plus 10.1.2 Worksheet Title

We can add a custom logo to a worksheet title using Discoverer Desktop.
However, this logo is NOT visible in Plus and there is no option to add a new logo to a workbook title.
Anyone know how we can add a custom logo to the workbook title in Plus???

I believe you need to modify the UIX templates to add the logo. There are a few downsides to this, though. The logo will appear on the screen, but will not get printed. Modifications to the templates will show up on all reports, so if marketing wanted one logo, and sales wanted another, they would have to settle on one template.
One thing worth looking into would be BI Publisher. It will allow logos to be printed, and is now integrated with disco. Check this link for more info:

Making a Twitter logo in Illustrator and Photoshop

I'm trying to make a twitter profile picture for a business incubator. I have the incubator logo as a vector file in illustrator and I've resized it to fit a 73x73 pixel sheet (73x73 is the size of the profile picture in Twitter). It all looks fine in Illustrator apart from when I copy it to photoshop to save it as a JPEG to upload it to Twitter, the imported logo from illustrator is bigger than the 73x73 box I made on photoshop. The logo is also blurry when I zoom in.
Can someone help me?
How can I get the vectored logo from Illustrator into Twitter without it blurring?

Zooming in on a bitmap will always make it blurry. Bitmaps are, by their very definition, meant to be viewed in one size only: 1 pixel in the bitmap equals one pixel on your screen.

Vector illustrations, per definition, are mathemathical constructions. Zooming in on a vector line will never "reveal" the individual pixels, because there are none.

Yes - this is a BI Publisher report and you can edit the template to format per your customer requirements. I'd suggest that you save a copy of the changes to file because the report may or may not be overwritten during upgrades.

Let me tell you something.Basically,all E-recruiting applications are developed using BSPs.So whatever customer modifications you do need to be done with BSP.
Secondly,themes are the only concept used out there.so ,if you are comfortable with creating themes using Eclipse editor and uploading them into BSP MIME repository it should solve the problem.
HINT: one good idea to solve this problem is just use the home page of your clients website,check for exact colors,etc. while preparing MIMEs.
Please go ahead with the discussion of the issue as it is important.

Custom logo doesn't show up in Admin.jspx

All,
Uploaded a custom logo graphic file to the $OIM_HOME/server/apps/oim.ear/iam-consoles-faces.war/images folder.
Made the following changes to Admin.jspx
1. Below <af:document title.....> line

2. under <af:pageTemplate>....IdmShell.jspx....> line

Cleared cache under tmp folder.
Logo Image doesn't show up. Any ideas why this is happening? Is there anything that i am not doing correctly.

appears to be a stylesheet class issue. Added height width specs and background-no-repeat attributes to the class and image showed up correctly.
