Custom MBP Delivery ... Well done Apple!!

It's nice to be able to thank a manufacturer-supplier nowadays.
I ordered my custom anti-glare 17inch MBP last Monday 17th ... I got the usual 1-3 day shipping notice, so I opted for free shipping with outside estimate on the 25th. However the MBP did not ship until the 21st from Shanghai - with a delivery of the 27th - the date I am leaving on a film shoot and needed the MBP.
So I called Apple on Friday with my problem to see if they can move it along? My MBP is on the delivery truck in my hometown as I write this - will be here any moment.

I played the sound in Mail and it used Quicktime to do so and I do not think the sound was particularly loud. Obviously Play back was at Output Volume that I had set.
I then put it in my Home folder/Library/Sounds and selected it in iChat.
It did seem to be louder or at least more piercing than my Regular one for Video Invites when used as a Test sound in iChat itself (As you Describe)
Now something very strange then happens - when I invited my self to an Audio Chat (I set it as the Audio Invite Alert).
It does not play. My computer gives me it's standard "bonk" noise that I have set as the entry Error sound.
I have Quicktime Pro and have tried Exporting it and Extracting it as well as changing the settings to 8 bit rather than 16 bit and to Mono rather than Stereo but I still can not get it to play in iChat when it is supposed to be the Alert (Again just as you describe)
I have even tried though iMovie HD
At this stage I am at a loss as to why your sound file is behaving differently to all the rest of mine.
I will send you one of mine and see if you can find the difference.
It is not .aiff but I have others that are.
The only thing I can spot is the sample 16 bit integer versus 8 bit integer

Well done, Apple! Spotlight is flying after 10.4.6!

Since 10.4.5, Spotlight was considerably slow to start searching things.
After this morning update, Spotlight took off and is flying really fast.

Please re-Update using the downloaded Combination updater. (Apple downloads)
If that doesn't help, the only other thing I can recommend is to resinstall OS X using the archive & install option in the installer.

For a first run G1 do it all Phone/computer -- you have really built an amazingly good interface that just works and works well.
I don't know who runs your human interface group, but I for one would like to meet the person/group and just thank them. I've never worked on a interface that just flows so well -- and the zoom in/out control and positioning is flawless!

Ok, have to admit I was sceptical that Apple would deliver rentals to the UK this side of Christmas, but things are looking up.
Missed the 'news' earlier today having been at the local hi-fi shop to see some new high-end equipment demoed - I took my AppleTV with me on the off-chance I might be able to compare it with the new £4,000 hard drive based music/CD player but decided it wouldn't have been received well had I suggested an a) vs b) comparison!
Suspect Winston and Chenks are downloading movies - AppleTV (with 2.02) is in the car boot - don't think I can be bothered to try the rentals at this hour.
Of course, all we need now is to see a price drop to about £130 in line with what happened in the US when rentals were announced.
I'm quite excited by this - the future really is in on demand viewing not archaic physical media like BluRay.

I think they did a good job too. I'm happy that:
iTunes Playlist Folders now show up on the Apple TV. Before, they were just all combined into one massive list.
iPhoto '08 Events now work with the Apple TV. Before, it would only show iPhoto Albums and Smart Albums.
YouTube Subscriptions show up on the Apple TV. This is really useful as it enables you to navigate all the video content of one user very easily.

iTunes 11 is one of the most beautiful pieces of software that Apple has ever released!
I also find it to be incredibly functional!
Beauty and function is a hard combo to get right sometimes!! So grateful!!!

Where can I find my MBP's logic board Apple ID?

Hi everyone,
Just out of curiosity, and in case my 2006 MacBook Pro should decide to send another logic board to electronic equipment heaven, I'd like to know how/where to get the Apple ID for the logic board that's installed on it, with the following two provisions (bear with here, OK?):
1) I don't want to have to open my MBP (been there, done that, can still feel the sweat under my armpits); and
2) I don't want to invest even the minimum amount of money in the operation.
I suppose there's a way to know which kind of logic board (ie, its Apple ID) is installed in my machine. I just don't know how...

OK, thanks, that must be it, I guess. I can't see any trace of another ID anyway. By the way, do you know how come I've got two Ethernet cards listed in my System Profiler?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select

from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).

UK 17 MBP delivery

hey all,
Any UK people here received their 17" MBP from the online apple store yet?
I ordered mine on the 16th may and have been told delivery "should" be around the 1st june, which to be honest is a pain as i leave the uk on the 31st.

I ordered mine on 3rd May along with some other bits and pieces. Once UPS got it the delivery was quoted as 18th and it arrived on that day having rendevouzed with 3 other packages somewhere in Europe. Looks to me like the UPS site is accurate and I guess 2 weeks is about right at the moment.
Machine is as quiet as a church mouse and yes it gets hot but if it doesn't get hot then I'm not working hard enough

^^ that's the main problem. Here's the full history.
I bought a new 13" i5 MBP, early 2011 edition. I had an old white Macbook 2.14 ghz core2duo on Snow Leopard. I attempted to port over my time machine backup, but encountered problems in that my User was inaccessible from the new computer after the import finished, and I had to go in and change the root password, etc, and for some reason or another, I couldn't install any programs at all from that administrator's account. By "couldn't" I mean I could install them, but upon installation they would never boot. So, I took it to the apple store and did a clean install from the most up to date Lion OSX. Then, I created a brand new admin account, instead of trying to import the old one, and things seemed great. Then, I just imported my old files from the TM backup, but not any system settings, permissions, or user data. Just my Docs, pics, vids, apps, and itunes stuff.
Here's where things get weird again. I imported this stuff under the name "old", but all of these folders have a red negative sign on them, marking them as restricted. So, from my main admin account, I cannot even peruse these folders. Since I didn't import user data, I can't sign in to the "old" account to change permissions. I already tried to change the permissions from system preferences, but that didn't change anything. And now, for whatever reason, of all the apps that were imported then, MS Office is the only set of apps that does not work. When I click on it, it just says there was a problem and asks if I'd like to send a report to apple. I tried reinstalling it to no avail. I'm an English student, so i really need access to Word. Can anyone help? The Apple store is a major detour for me and would like to fix this issue myself.

Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:
Apple's iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.)
Open Office (Office 2007-like suite compatible with OS X.)
NeoOffice (similar to Open Office.)
LibreOffice (a new direction for the Open Office suite.)

Customer expected delivery report

I would like to be able to run a report that will give me time to ship for
an order (time order entered into system to time actually shipped) and
compare that to customer expected delivery and whether items have safety
stock or no safety stock.

First check the fields which u want to add to the report r existing in the infoprovider on which u r building query.if its existing then u can add in the report if not u have to add in the infoprovider and need to think to which we have to map.
is this the one u want to know.

Order deleted ,delivery was done

can any one tell me how we can delete a sales order when we have done the delivery

One can not delete the sales order is the subsequent doc is exits If any delivery is done u can not delete he sales order. But U can short close the order by assiging the reason for rejection in sales order. But to delete the order u have to reverse PGI through VL09 and delete delivery through VL02N.
Once u reverse/delete all the PGI and DELIVERY only then u r able to delete the sales order.

Bursting Engine with custom WebDAV Delivery Manager Java Program

I have developed A custom WebDAV delivery manager and need to call it when the using the bursting engine. Is there a sample that can show me where to palce the information. I have logged a tar but they asked me to post here to see about getting an example of a bursting control file that can solve my problem. I have created a bursting java program per the users guide chapter 10 and the chapter 11 plus the XMLP blogger for the delivery manager program.

At present , you can not access the splited XML Data from any of the event. but here is the workaround to reference the required information from XML data.
Suppose you need Element1, Element2, Element2 elements information to push the file to WebDav.
Reference these elements in the file name as variable and parse the resulting output file name in your Java Class. You can also rename the output file with appropriate name before push it to WebDav.
<xapi:filesystem output="c:\burst\output\ACH Remittance #${C_CHECK_NUMBER}_${Element1}_${Element2}_${Element3}.pdf" />
Example :
<xapi:filesystem id="123222" output="d:\burst_test\${EMPNO}_${ENAME}_${MGR}_${EMAIL}" />
The resulting Output file name would be like.. [email protected]

Sales order Customer Requested Delivery Date

We are getting date difference of Customer Requested Delivery Date in MD04 and Product View for one customer.
Scenario:
Created Sales order by giving CRD date as 26.07.2010 and In APO Product View the same sales order shows 25.07.2010.
Please advice.

I need add discount for particular customer on delivery.
Actually what i want;
ABC as customer takes Goods quantity 100 pc rate 5 total=500 and VAT 15% of total =75 then gross total =575.
and discount for this customer is 1.5% of base amount that is 500*1.5%= 7.5
now amount due for the customer is
Base amount=100 * 5    =500
VAT15%      =500*15% = 75
Total                                 575
-Discount 1.5%                 7.5
Dues Total                        567.5
This is the result will be shown.

Photoshop Photography Program - Well Done !!

I’ve been a Lightroom user for a few years now and found that as the applications matures, probably 90% of image manipulation can be done within that programme. The other 10% either got ignored or fudged. I’ve had a Photoshop CC single membership since early last year and that’s where the 10% gap was filled. Indeed I don’t believe there is anything can touch PS CC in terms of sheer power and flexibility.
However the monthly fee for the 10% when need was stretching it a bit, until now. I didn’t qualify for the PPP when it was first introduced, as I hadn’t a previous history with PS. However now the barriers have been dropped and anyone can get Lightroom and Photoshop for [UK] £8.78 a month. Well what can I say? It’s the cost of two Cappuccinos and a cookie a month. Simply superb.

Well for now Herbert2001, my subscription has just come down approx 48% and I no longer need to buy Lightroom updates. No brainer really.
Actually, do you honestly think that the company would be daft enough to increase membership charges in such a way and infuriate its subscribers? The bigger the company, the more protective it becomes of its brand image, this is basic commercial logic. It simply can't afford to damage its reputation in the market place, hence the reintroduction of the PPP to a wider audience I suspect.
