Custom Metadata Panel and Palette

Hi,
We have created a custom metadata panel file and placed that file to the particular folder mentioned in user guide, and we can able to see/edit/save the custom metadata properties in FileInfo menu.
But we need a new Palette in Adobe Bridge CS3 GUI to see this custom metadata and edit the details onto that palette (as same as in FileInfo menu). Is there any possiblities to do that?
Regards,
Karthik

Not sure I understand what you are asking, but I think it's that you want to add a section in the Metadata panel that is shown via Window > Metadata Panel. On that assumption, does this help?

  • Custom Metadata panel to show linked graphics from InDesign files?

    Hello all,
I'm looking to create a custom Metadata panel to show linked graphics from InDesign files. I'm not even sure if this is possible. Can someone please point me in the right direction? I figure if you can see the fonts used in an InDesign file, you should probably be able to pull the links, right?
Thanks for any and all help!

  • CS4 Custom Metadata Panels : "Generic" : Ability to display block of predefined text in panels ?

I am in the process of converting a number of CS3 custom metadata panels to the Adobe CS4 Suite using the "Generic" panel included with the current SDK. After reading though the documentation on the "Generic" panel, it seems that there is no easy way to define a block of predefined, non-editable text (a legal disclaimer for example) within a CS4 "Generic" panel.
Note that this is text that is not actually embedded into an image or editable, but rather a block of predefined text that simply displays within the panel itself.
When creating CS3 custom panels, a predefined text block was easily displayed using a combination of the "width:", "height:" and "static_text:" parameters.
Has anyone been able to replicate this using the CS4 "Generic" panel?
Thanks in advance for your time and effort...

    James,
Alternative: XMP FileInfo SDK page 40, the attribute description= displays static text as a mouse-over tooltip operation on a single field.
This applies to custom XMP properties in a custom namespace. The standard in-the-box XMP properties description= cannot be modified via a custom .xml schema definition as far as I can determine. (I tried, and mine were ignored.)

  • Custom Metadata Panels from CS3 to CS4.

I have install CS4 on my Vista Ultimate PC. It runs like a dream. However there is now a new format for the custom metadata panels. I have two panels that I created in CS3 that I need to convert to the new format. Is there an easy way to do this?
The CS3 files are txt files that all I had to do was copy to the proper directory and they appeared. Thanks.

    Thanks Gunar,
I already had my custom XMP panel for my server product for InDesign. I tried to create a CS4 compatible panel on MacPro (Mac OS X 10.5.5 3GB RAM) using every possible method from the XMP FileInfo SDK pdf - it didn't work. The panel did show up in the dialog, but not the fields. Not only this, all fields also disappeared from some other panels. After I removed my custom panel, everything went back to normal.
    I tried:
-Generic panel method - the fields didn't show up
-The Flex SDK method: when I run
    ant built.xml
I got the "Target "build.xml" does not exist in the project "TestPanel"." error (I checked many times - all the files were where they're supposed to be, and I run it from the correct directory).
-I downloaded Flex Builder, followed all the steps - the fields didn't show up, and fields in other panels disappeared.
The idea of building the panel interface interactively is great - I hope it will ever work.
Any ideas of why it didn't work for me?
While we're on this, I think that the new tabbed interface for the File Info dialog is a huge step back. You already had a great interface, with the list of panel names on the left side - which is easy to use and is standard through many Adobe dialogs.
The multi-tab approach for many items proved to be inefficient long time ago. Right now you created a dialog that works like a dilaog in QuarkXPress 4 - what's the point?
To support the new tabbed interface, you had to introduce TWO new "arrow" controls, none of which is user-friendly, and which make a simple task of choosing a panel extremely confusing.
The new feature of changing panel position by dragging is great, but it could be also achieved through the side list approach.
Bottom line: could you please restore the side list approach. I think it will help advance the XMP technology further and encourage people to actually use it , instead of doing exactly the opposite.

  • Customized metadata panel?

Can I create a customized metadata panel that displays just the fields of my choice?  For example, just country, state, city, sub location, GPS, title, caption, label, keywords.

Well, it won't necessarily be any simpler (in fact, one might consider it less simple) to do using a text editor, but if for whatever reason you still prefer a plugin-less solution (roof-roof), here it is:
    * Create a directory in with your Lr presets named 'Metadata Field Lists' (exactly), e.g.
    * Download a starter template from here:
    http://www.robcole.com/Lightroom/Metadata Field Lists/All Possible Items.lrtemplate
(you may need to right-click (ctrl-click on Mac) and choose "Save Link As..." to download)
    * Copy it to 'Metadata Field Lists' folder and rename it 'My Metadata Field List #1.lrtemplate' (or whatever you prefer as long as it ends with .lrtemplate).
    * Customize using text editor - be sure to change the title and ID at the bottom to "match" (by example/analogy) the name you gave the file in previous step.
    * Restart Lightroom
Note: the starter template has (almost) all possible items (e.g. excludes custom metadata, but you don't have any, yet), so your job is to delete stuff, and re-order to your liking.
Also, if you can figure out how, you can make selected fields multi-line, and move the label to the top of the field, and/or add (optionally labeled) separators...
Have fun, and don't forget: if you're not having fun, consider jf's plugin (meow)..
    Cheers,
    Rob

  • Creating custom Metadata panels in Bridge CS3

I want to create a custom panel that allows me to enter 14+ pieces of information about an image that are not contained within the existing metadata panels.
I can create a custonm panel in photoshop that is seen under 'File info' but I cannot see this information against a file in the metadata in Bridge.
In the Bridge metadata panels you have individual panels such as GPS, IPTC Core, History, etc. Can I create my own custom panel to add to this list?
If so how is it done? Where are the custom panel files stored?
    Many thanks

    Hi Bob,
It seems that almost every day there is a new secret to explore on this forum... :-)
According to the description in the link you had only a small typo (XML instead of XMP)
here is a copy of the file locations text from the PDF:
    Mac OS X
    {Root Volume}/Library/Application Support/Adobe/XMP
    /Custom File Info Panels
    {Home Directory}/Library/Application/Adobe/XMP
    /Custom File Info Panels
    Windows

  • Zstrings in Custom Metadata Panels

I'm trying to create a popup widget in a custom panel that will return a value with an ampersand (&) in it. I do something like this in the item variable "...;Folks{Mom & Pop};..." What gets stored is "Mom Pop" with no ampersand.
So I looked at the Zstring escapes and it seems that I should do something like "#{amp}" for the ampersand. Tried that "...;Folks{Mom #{amp} Pop};..." and what gets stored is "Mom #{amp" -- it's like the escape sequence is not seen in the item variable.
To add insult to injury, I don't know how to make Google search on "#{amp}" (it wants to simplify the search to just "amp").
    Any ideas?
    Thanks, Doug

  • Where do I find the original filename in metadata panels?

I posted this question about retaining the filename but got no answers, so I'm trying again. It used to be in LR prior to Version 2 that you could select "Location" in the Metadata panel and you would see the original camera-generated filename. All my pictures in my LR database have this up until I upgraded to Version 2. Now, it's not there anymore. I want to be able to trace back to the original RAW file if the LR database copy goes corrupt (which has happened three times in 2 years). Any help would be appreciated - I can't locate any forum question/answer that addresses this.

    Method ..
Now type in the Facebook mobile address http://m.facebook.com. Press Go To.
You are now asked to select an access point. Select the internet access point you intend to use - if it's your mobile connection, highlight the appropriate network connection, or if you are using Wi-Fi, select the WLAN you wish to access or search for a new access point. Press Select.
You should now be taken to the Facebook mobile log in page .
Scroll down to highlight the Email or Phone panel. Type in your email details.
Scroll down to highlight the Password panel. Type in your Facebook password.
Scroll down to highlight the Log In button. Press the central navigation button to select
You will now get the message: 'You are being redirected to another site. Continue?'. Press Yes.
You will now be taken into your Facebook account home page, with Status updates News feed and other options to keep you busy wherever you are, whenever you want it

  • Custom info panel from CS5 not showing in CS6

Do I need to move the custom panel entry from
"\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\XMP\Custom File Info Panels\3.0\custom" to a new location?
Also on a related front, at NAB I was asking about adding dropdown boxes to entries so we could standardize on a few set entries to make searching easier. I couldn't get an answer there - any ideas on the forums?

You can design custom metadata panels - I have one for Client's name, project name, element type, Approved, etc. Whenever we generate files for a client we try to get the data filled in. It makes searching for clips from previous projects much quicker. The custom panel isn't showing in Bridge - i usually appears at the bottom of the metadata list after "File Properties" IPTC Core" etc.
The dropdown box question - Some of the data we want to be picked from a list to make searching more acurate. For instance - "Element Type" would either be "Interview", "Background", "Logo", etc. We just wnat everyone labeling things with the same terms. (See "Property Release Status" under the IPTC Extension)

  • Custom metadata field with autonumbering sequence

I have created a custom metadata field and I need it to be able to start a zero and then increase by one with each checkin. There were other qualifications for this particular field as well, which I have managed to do. Currently, the field is V99_99999 where V is a constant, and the 99 immendiately after the V is the current two digit year. all that works great. the issue I am having is with the second half of this. I have it going against the content_id currently, which is at 003856 right now, so when I check in my first content, it will look like V09_003857. what I need it to look like is V09_00001 and then increase by one with each checkin, and then for the really tricky part...when the year changes, on Jan 1, the counter needs to start over at all zeroes again.
I am fairly new to UCM and this seems huge to me. I purchased a book called "The Definitive Guide to Stelelnt Content Server Development" hoping to find the answer, but am still struggling, so I am using another life line and reaching out to you all.
    Thanks,
    Patti

    Interesting!
You'll need a component. You already mentioned you had a custom metadata field. You will also need to add a counter to the counters table for your component. During a check in you will need to fetch the next value from the counters table, increment the counter and store the new number back in the table. The year portion of the id is easy, get the current year and grab the last two characters. Then, put this all togther to get the data for your metadata field.
The big question now is where in the check in process will you do all this? You will need something called filters probably. Maybe addFiles, maybe validateStandard, there are several that this could work with.
    Check out the how-to-components:

  • Exporting Custom Metadata to Excel

I've created custom metadata views and presets for cataloging my images. Is it possible to export this metadata into an Excel spreadsheet as a CSV or TSV file? File/Export/Metadata exports standard metadata, but not my custom fields and entries. Or, is it possible to export XMP sidecar files and somehow import those into Excel? All that data is there somewhere within Aperture - please help me get it out and into a spreadsheet! Thanks.

  • Custom Metadata View

Is there any way to change the display size of custom metadata labels in the inspector? I have created a bunch of custom metadata labels and given them names that are truncated when displayed in the metadata inspector. When I resize the inspector pane, the value boxes increase in size but the custom label names remain fixed in width (or # of characters). The result is that I can't see the full label. I can't shorten the label names for work flow reasons. Thanks!

I have attached a bunch of optional metadata field presets as a zip file. If you open any one of them in a text editor you can see how they can be modified to match your needs (i.e. line needs to be remarked out using --).
Send me a PEm for info
Edit: the closest to your requirements is named Exif + Image

  • Custom metadata tags?

I know that by tweaking the flex config files you can have
custom metadata tags and you can extract them with reflection (
    describeType() )
But can this happen in flash?
Can they be substituted by a clever use of interface or
    inheritance?

File a bug with a simple test case if there already isn't one.  No
guarantees it will get fixed?  Why can't you put the metadata on the class?

  • Creating custom Metadata fields

When I import images I need to add contact details of property owners and there's sometimes 2 or 3 owners so I've created a custom Metadata preset and used the "other" tab at the bottom of the Metadata inspector to add the fields: "Contact 2", "Contact 3" and "Cell phone", "Email" etc.
The problem I have, is that I can add a new field in the "New Custom Metadata" box at the top of that tab, but the "+" symbol remains greyed out unless I enter characters into the Metadata value field. However, entering "placeholder" characters into the value field in order to activate the "+" symbol seems crazy because I'm creating a template, and the data will be different every time I import and I don't want to have to delete the placeholder characters when I'm importing. I just want to have custom fields and a blank box for data entry beside ready for me to fill it in when I import. Is this possible?

A metadata field of type boolean will be a checkbox as long as there is no lookup associated with it.
If you assign a lookup to it (either when you create the field, or in the group), then you will see it with a lookup.

  • Metadata panel create metadata template I get an old template

I did click on create metadata template so I should get a new, empy template and not an old one, already filled.

I can get a clean template (with an old title) only if I start Bridge and
press the option key, together, otherwise I won't get a clean template, so I
sort of have to do that all the time, which is not normal.
I agree that this is not normal, meanwhile try to use clear all values and
save as an other name for a safe workaround in stead of refreshing prefs
    every time.
Also, the appearance of the metadata content has changed, probably due to
resetting default preferences.  All of those
items of course do not reflect the items in the metadata preferences, where
everything, really everything stayed checked, and it's tons, really tons of
    them, right?
Resetting Preferences does set the IPTC to show all in Bridge prefs. The
fastest way to correct this is to again to Bridge preferences metadata
section and deselect the checkmark (minus) in front of the name in bold,
this deselects all fields in one time. Now you have only choose the fields
you want to show again in the Metadata panel.
When you also choose to hide empty fields you will have a clean oversight in
the Metadata panel. Also remember, changing checkmarks in Bridge prefs only
affects the view ability of the fields and info in the metadata panel, all
info and metadata is still present in the file (which you can also check in
the menu File/File info or cmd+i)
Is there a way to return to the workspace with larger thumbnails?
Yes, reset workspace or use the slider bottom right to adjust size of
    thumbs.
However useless, like you rightly said, I used to use it to type in individual
descriptions for each tumbnails, from the metadata panel, and the description,
together with the copyright notice and maybe the author, from the template,
did show in the metadata workspace with the larger thumbnails.
As I already stated never to use the Metadata workspace I would advice you
to play around with a workspace for your own workflow. Drag the panels to
left or right (grab the tab with the name of the panel) and move it until
you see a blue line. A single blue line means it fits between the other
panels, a surrounding blue line means it nests as a tab to the same panel.
You have 3 columns to work with and you can also resize the columns and
panels until you are satisfied. After this go to the triangle top right next
to workspace names and choose new workspace. Save it with a proper name and
you can always use this workspace again.
If you have to add info in metadata use the metadata panel for it. Having
same info for multiple files just select all those files and type in this
info only once to apply it to all those files. You can fine tune description
afterwards if you need so for one or more other files by selecting them
    again.
Also Batch rename is a very useful feature (shiftcmdR or tools/batch
rename). You can rename all the selected files in one go with different
sequence number or other options, explore the fields and add or delete a
field with the plus and minus sign.
Is there an attach button in the post so I can send you a screenshot
Use the camera button icon that shows in the reply field of the forum to add
