Custom naming convention with File Adapter

Within my BPEL process, I am using File Adapter and writing out a file. The current naming convention only all some static string with either a sequence (%SEQ%) or some sort of system timestamp. I wonder if it is possible to use some runtime data (data value within the Process Variables) as part of the file name being written out.

Hi, the file/FTP adapters support file metadata such as filename and directory to the BPEL process and exclude the payload. set the UseHeaders parameter to true in the file adapter WSDL.

  • File name naming convention in File Adapter configuration in ID

    Hi All ,
    I have a query related to xml filename created in IDOC-XI-FILE scenario based on value of one of IDOC field .
    The scenario is like this :
    I have to send one xml file per store for material master . In this case how can I define my file name with store name in File adapter configuration in ID .
    Naming convention should be
    <b><storename>_date_masterdataname.xml</b>where store name is one of field of IDOC .
    Plz help me .
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi Prabhat,
    take a look at this weblog:
    /people/jayakrishnan.nair/blog/2005/06/28/dynamic-file-namexslt-mapping-with-java-enhancement-using-xi-30-sp12-part-ii
    you have to specify variable substitution
    (in the file adapter)
    and give the path to the store name (in the variable sustitution table)
    you <b>file name schema</b> (from the file communication channel can look like this)
    %storename%_date_masterdataname.xml

  • Output CSV File Naming Convention - Receiver File Adapter

    Dear SAP experts,
    I need help regarding my scenario.
    My scenario is this, Customer will send EDI message to XI. XI will then translate the message and convert it into XML.. After, a Receiver File Adapter will receive the XML then convert it into .csv file.
    I've already configured the Receiver File Adapter to convert the XML into .csv file.
    But, my problem now is how will I configure to have my output .csv file has a File Naming Convention.
    The output .csv file must be "CustomerName_YearMonthDate".
    From the EDI message, there is indicated Sender GLN in which, each customer has its own Sender GLN.
    E.g., Globus --> 200, Karstadt --> 300,  Metro --> 400.
    How will I configure so that I can have an output .csv file of,
    If Globus sends the EDI message, the output .csv file is Globus_20080304.csv.
    If Karstadt, Karstadt_20080304.csv.
    If Metro, Metro_20080304.csv.
    Kindly advise for a clear and complete solution.
    Thank you very much for your usual support.
    Fred

    Hi Nisar,
    My target message (XML) in the mapping is this,
    - <ns0:CSV>
        -  <SLI>
               <PERIO> </PERIO>
               <ILN> </ILN?
               <EAN> </EAN>
    perio, iln, and ean was rooted on SLI field. and the CSV is the rootnode of the target message.
    I have created a UDF on the message mapping to accomodate the output customer name, here is the codes:
    String fname="";
    if(GLN.equals("23456"))
    fname ="Globus" +dat;
    else if(GLN.equals("5678"))
    fname ="Karstadt"+dat;
    else if(GLN.equals("6789"))
    fname ="Metro"+dat;
    DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container
        .getTransformationParameters()
        .get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create(
        "http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File",
        "FileName");
        conf.put(key,fname );
    E.g.,
    Globus --> 23456 (Sender GLN)
    Karstadt --> 5678 (Sender GLN)
    Metro --> 6789 (Sender GLN)
    This UDF i've made in the Message Mapping was mapped in the root node CSV.
    Is this UDF correct?
    Then on the File Receiver Configurations, here are the configs,
    Transport Protocol: File System (NFS)
    Message Protocol: File Content Conversion
    Adapter Engine: Integration Server
    File Access Parameters
    Target Directory: /var/opt/gsss/sample/csv
    File Name Scheme: .csv
    Processing Parameters
    File Construction Mode: Create
    - Overwrite Existing File
    Write Mode: Directly
    File Type: Text
    Variable Substitution --> ???
    Adapter Specific Message Attributes
    - Use Adapter-Specific Message Attributes
    - Fail if Adapter-Specific Message Attributes Missing
    - File Name
    Run Operating System Command After Message Processing
    Command Line: chmod 664%F
    Content Conversion Parameters
    Recordset Structure: SLI
    SLI.addHeaderLine: 3
    SLI.headerLine: PERIO;ILN;EAN
    SLI.fieldSeparator: ;
    SLI.endSeparator: 'nl'
    Adapter Status:
    Status: Active
    Kindly advise if my configs are correct.
    Thank you very much!

  • Problem with FIle Adapter

    Hi
    We r facing typical problem with file adapter.
    Lets say there are 30 files to be processed  by placing an copy in arichive folder by file adapter  based on pooling
    parameters.
    All the 30  files are picked up and we can see the copies in archive folder.
    But when we go to RWB and check the audit log,
    there we could see only 25 files , the 5 files are missing.
    no trace found therre about the 5 files.
    This is happening only some times and not to all the files placed in the FTP. Later when the same file is placed back from the Archive folder to the Source folder, the file is being picked and processed succesfully.
    unfortunately this is happening on Production server
    Any pointers which could trouble shoot this issue.
    Regards
    shekar chandra

    Hi,
    Couple of thing which you can try....
    1. Use EOIO QoS and check if you still face the issue.
    Is some program or application writing files to the directory? If yes I would recommend the use of a temporary name to write the files and then rename them.
    Sometimes when an external application connects via FTP and transfers the files...
    The file could be picked up by the adapter poll even before the transfer of data is done.
    Which is why you will find that the file is archived but there is no xml message created for the same in the Integration engine.
    Try increasing the poll interval. This helps sometimes.

  • How to process large input CSV file with File adapter

    Hi,
    could someone recommend me the right BPEL way to process the large input CSV file (4MB or more with at least 5000 rows) with File Adapter?
    My idea is to receive data from file (poll the UX directory for new input file), transform it and then export to one output CSV file (input for other system).
    I developed my process that consists of:
    - File adapter partnerlink for read data
    - Receive activity with checked box to create instance
    - Transform activity
    - Invoke activity for writing to output CSV.
    I tried this with small input file and everything was OK, but now when I try to use the complete input file, the process doesn't start and automatically goes to OFF state in BPEL console.
    Could I use the MaxTransactionSize parameter as in DB adapter, should I batch the input file or other way could help me?
    Any hint from you? I've to solve this problem till this thursday.
    Thanks,
    Milan K.

    This is a known issue. Martin Kleinman has posted several issues on the forum here, with a similar scenario using ESB. This can only be solved by completely tuning the BPEL application itself, and throwing in big hardware.
    Also switching to the latest 10.1.3.3 version of the SOA Suite (assuming you didn't already) will show some improvements.

  • Problems with File adapter

    Hi All
    I am facing some problems with XI system. XI production server was restarted couple of days back. From that time, 1 file is not reaching its destination. When i go to communication channel monitoring, i see this  message for all the communication channels with file adapter "No adapter registered for this channel".
    But, communication channels with SOAP adapter are working fine, and the corresponding files are reaching its destinations. So, what should i do to rectify this probelm? Do we have to restart XI server onceagain? Is there anything pirticular, to be careful about, while restarting XI system?
    Many Thanks in Advance
    Chandra Sekhar

    Hi Chandra shekar,
    Plz try to do the  following steps:
    1)Try after restarting the Java Stack.
    2)Try after SLD cache.
    To clear the SLD cache, from the Integration Builder main menu, choose Environment ® Delete Cache for SLD Data.
    Once we have deleted the cache for SLD data, accessing objects in the SLD may take longer than usual initially.
    This will help you to find SP Level

    Hi James,
    Yeah I tried that too and it gave the same error. And I need to encode with MS932 only since the data will contain Japanese characters and this encoding is identified both by windows and non-windows OS.
    Please can you advice what can I do since the requirement is urgent.

  • Issues with File Adapter

    Hi!
    I am working on File(source.csv)->Xi->File(Target.csv) Scenario.
    In my Source File i have 4 fields which are mapped to the target file which contains 2 additional fields with constant values mapped.   So, I should get 6 fields at receiver end.
    <b>Source structure</b>
    CharacterName
    Lowerlimit
    Upperlimit
    Targetvalue
      <b> Target Structure</b>
    CharacterName
    Lowerlimit
    Upperlimit
    Targetvalue
      Plant (constant value -1000)
      Status (Constant value - Released)
    But, While using file adapter it showing only 4 fields of my Source file at the receiver end , not the ones which have been mapped with constant values(It is with out Using FCC) .
    When i  use FCC under File Adapter,  XI is not picking the file. These are the parameters I am defining at Sender Adapter:
    Document Name : file_rece( Not sure whether it should be similar as of my Msg Type name)
    RecordSet Name :Record (not sure abt naming conventions)
    Recordset Structure : main,1
    In parameters:
    main.fieldNames:CharacterName,Lowerlimit,Upperlimit ,Targetvalue
    main.fieldSeparator: ,
    main.endSeparator : 'nl'
    Receiving Adapter:
    Recordset Structure : main,1
    main.fieldSeparator :,
    main,endSeparator : 'nl'
    ---I gone through some previous posts but cant able to resolve it.

  • Get additional file attachements with file adapter

    Hello,
    Has anyone ever had the following situation:
    A Sender interface sends a little bit of data to XI.
    This data contains the filenames of some files on a FTP server.
    Based on these filename the file needs to be retreived from a FTP server and further handled as an attachement of the XI message?
    Is it possible to trigger a sender file adapter with a variable directory and filename from XI, in a BPM or Mapping?
    Warm Regards,
    Leon Boeijen

    hi,
    >>>>Is it possible to trigger a sender file adapter with a variable directory and filename from XI, in a BPM or Mapping?
    no it's not possible to start a file adapter from BPM
    you can use a java proxy that will do the trick
    we've used a solution like this many times with no big issues
    remember that it's better to use an async java proxy
    (with correlation) then a sync one...

  • Dynamic File naming in reciever File Adapter

    Hi all,
    I am using a reciever File adapter and my requirement is to generate 3 different file names based on the value of an element from the Payload.For example..
    Say in Payload for the first Occurence of the Data segment which contains Field-1 and Field-1 Contains value X then filename should be  X.CSV,
    same as
    For the next occurence of the Data Segment if the Value of Field-1 is Y then File name should be Y.CSV.
    Similarly For Z as well.
    This is something like this...
    SOurce Structure
    ================
    IDOC
    DATA SEGMENT-1
    Field-1---> X
    Field-2
    Field 10
    DATA SEGMENT-2
    Field-1
    Field-2
    Field 10
    DATA SEGMENT-3
    Field-1
    Field-2
    Field 10
    then the output and filenames  should be...
    X.CSV
    Field-1
    Field-2
    Field-3
    Y.CSV
    Field-1
    Field-2
    Field-3
    Z.CSV
    Field-1
    Field-2
    Field-3
    Kindly help, is there any way i can do this using File Adapter Configurations .Please suggest.

    Hi,
    you can use a small business process.
    There you will receiver the message in one receive step.
    than you need a transformation Step with a mapping which split your message to several messages.
    At least you have now a Multi Row container with one message for each data segment.
    For sending each messages of this multirow container you need a block in BPM.. this you have to set to parallel processing.
    Inside this block you have a sending step which send the single message.
    and without BPM take a look at this Weblog(you need SP14):

  • Dynamic naming of receiver file adapter

    Hello Friends,
    How to handle the dynamic file naming in XI at receiver side as file naming convention sequence to be incremented for every 1 hour...
    my Client expecting to handle at mapping...How to do this...
    Could any one give me the program if we need to do it in java...
    and pls also give another approach if any
    Setup dynamically ,

    >>as file naming convention sequence to be incremented for every 1 hour.
    Please elaborate this point. I'm again seeing same the question from your side.
    From Variable Substitution you can access only ASMA and can refer the payload element. But in the requirement is something else the you should have to go for Dynamic Configuration in Mapping program.

  • Sender communication channel with file adapter

    Hi All,
               Here i am facing some error with the communication channel in which i have used FILE adapter. Here i am using PI 7.0. Here i have configured the communication channel. but i didn't checked the "operating system commands". and i checked the " adapter specific message attributes". i dont know whether i have to check these adapter specific message attributes or not. When i have gone to runtime work bench there i saw in adapter monitoring. there it is not showing any error. but in communication channel monitoring it is showing that it is having  -
      "processing  errors" but i am not getting where will be the error.. Any new ideas will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ramana

    Hi Bhavesh and Aaron,
                  Here i viewed the XMl format of the sender file in the mapping. there i found the difference between the file i am trying to pick up by the adapter and the XML instance of the sender interface in mapping. The difference is there in the message type of the <ns0> tag the file i am trying to send is having one message type and name space, where as the XMl instance is having the other message type and same name space.
                 i think that will the problem in processing my file. i am not sure about it.please any of you confirm that if it is th processing error i am facing or not.
                Thanks for your efforts.
    Regards,
    Ramana.

  • Performance Problem with File Adapter using FTP Conection

    Hi All,
    I have a pool of 19 interfaces that send data from R/3 using RFC Adpater, and these interfaces generate 30 TXT files in a target Server. I'm using File Adapters as Receiver Comunication Channel. It's generating a serious perfomance problem. In File Adpater I'm using FTP Conection with Permanently Conection, Somebody knows if PERMANENTLY CONECTION is the cause of performances problem ?
    These interfaces will run once a day with total of 600 messages.
    We still using a Test Server with few messages.

    Hi Regis,
        We also faced teh same porblem. Whats happening is that when the FTP session is initiated by the file adapter, then its getting done from teh XI server. Hence the memory of the server is also eaten up. Why dont you give a try by using 'per file transfer'.
        If this folder to which you are connecting is within your XI server network then you can mount(or map) that drive to the XI server and use it with a NFS protocol of the file adapter and thereby increasing the performance.
    Cheers
    JK

  • Problem with file adapter polling on Unix

    Hi everybody,
    I'm trying to run my BPEL process with receive activity of File adapter partner link. Everything is working OK on Windows file system - folder polling is set correctly and when the new file appears and is at least 2 minutes old, the process starts. But when I try to run the process on the UX server with BPEL (folders are changed to the correct values as '/home/myfolder', rights for this folder are set to RWX for everybody and process is deployed successfully to the appropriate domain) nothing is done when the new file appears in the folder.
    I really don't know, where is the problem. Any hint from you?
    Thanks,
    Milan K.

    Hi Suraj,
    From The Note ``
    "lock" option:- This is the option that is almost similar to the above; The key difference being in very rare circumstances, the first option may still allow channels to be run on both server nodes. When this option is set, file adapter acquires a enqueue service lock. Lock is taken on channel object and it is exclusive and non-cumulative such that no second message(even it is from the same channel) can fetch the files from configured FTP/File directories unless and until first message has completed(success/fail) its processing.
    This is exactly my requirement.
    but when I see the end time of the message its they are withing second only as

  • Problem with file adapter for delimiter

    Hi,
    I am working in a file-idoc scenario where i need to read a file with comma delimited body.
    Content configuration for the body of the file is as follows,
    BODY.fieldNames  F1,F2,KEY,F3,F4,F5        where KEY is the key field
    BODY.keyFieldValus 01
    BODY.fieldSeparator  ,
    BODY.endSeparator  'nl'
    For most of the cases it is working fine.
    The record for which this is not working is,
    AAA,,01,XXX,FFF,GGG
    XI file adapter is ignoring this records.
    1) I tried with some option like fieldContentFormatting but this is not working.
    2) Most surprisingly if i shift the KEY to left(in place of F2), record is getting picked up properly with SPACE in the tag KEY and '01' in F2.
    3) I tried using record like 126126,JJJ,01,,,GGG
       Record is picked up with value in F3 and F4 fields are SPACE.
    The problem is only with blank between two separator before KEY field.
    Is there any other parameter which can solve the problem.
    In case any body knows the solution please let me know.
