Custom number format

Hi all,
I'm trying to find out the rules to define new format number in the custom dialog. E.g. I tried 999G999G999G999G990D99 'cause I want a long numeric field with group simbol and 2 decimal digits and the result is
201.103.869,40
The problem is that I want ' as digit group simbol and not the .
201'103'869.40
Is there a rule to specify the ' and not the .?
Or do I have to change any option somewhere to insert the new digit group simbol?
(Windows Regional Options display decimal simbol . and group simbol ' as the case I desider).
Tnx a lot.

Well, if you know the field will always contain a certain number of digits then you could do a work-around such as the following.
SUBSTR(Your_Data_Element,1,3)||"'"||SUBSTR(Your_Data_Element,4,3)||"'"||SUBSTR(Your_Data_Element,8,3)||'.'||SUBSTR(Your_Data_Element,12,2)

  • Has someone knowlege of how to use Custom Number Format in Numbers V3.0

    Hello Everyone,
    From Excel to Numbers '09 I worked with Custom Number Format.
    Making formats like 60 sec, km/h or m/s².
    In the new Version 3.0 it is not under 'Format'/Custom Number Format.
    I did not find it! Has someone found a way to do it the old way.
    I am working with the German version.
    Bye

    Limmy,
    There is no option in Numbers 3.0 for Custom Format. If that is mandatory for your purposes, it is still available in Version 2.3.

  • Custom Number Format With Leading & Trailing Zeros

    Hi!
    How can I define following number format in Apple Pages (v3.5)?
    Positive numbers: +#'##0.00 (e.g. +0.30 or +5'000.00)
    Negative numbers: -#'##0.00 (e.g. -0.30 or -5'000.00)
    If I create a custom number format and enable Show Trailing Zeros, the leading zero is not shown (e.g. +.30 instead of +0.30). Number format with Thousands Separator enabled comes closest to what I need, but misses the plus sign for positive numbers (which I need to represent differences).
    Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi Tuna,
    Maybe the currency format would work for you,
    The plus sign is problematic. With the above your negative numbers will be red and in brackets, positive numbers will be black. You could use conditional highlighting to change that.

  • Global Custom Number format

    Hi, I've searched in the forum and help for this to no avail.
    It seems that you should be able to define a custom number format and have it stored so that you can use it again. But whenever I do this it only applies to that document.
    Is there a way to have custom formats stored in the Cell Format list?

    I don't know how to make it "global" but you can open the blank template, make your custom format, then save the document as a template and it will be in any new document you create with that new template.

  • Custom Number Format Default to Numeric Keyboard

    Hello,
    I recently put together a timesheet form for our superintendents.  I have some fields to accept our company's 6-digit cost codes.  Initially, I used the general  Number format.  This worked well since, on the iPad, the numeric keyboard came up by default and only numbers were accepted.  However, there was no limit to the number and it always removed the leading "0", which was not acceptable.  Our cost codes are layed out as follows:
    011010
    082010
    120010
    It was important that we retain the leading "0".  Then, after some research I found a code (entered into to Custom format) on this forum allowing me to retain that zero:
    event.rc = true;
    if (event.value) {
         if (/^\d{6}$/.test(event.value)==false) {
              app.alert("Error! The entered value must be 6 digits.");
              event.rc = false;
    This worked well... however, I am back to the numeric keyboard not being default and the field accepting letters as well as number.
    MY QUESTION:
    How do I create a numeric only, exactly 6-digit field that will open the numeric keyboard on the iPad (like the number field does).  Is this possible?

  • Web-i Custom Number Format Document

    I am trying to configure a date to show in a specific format (i.e. MM/DD instead of something else). I realise that I could create new variables (formatdate function)...but this is time consuming as I have many date objects.
    Does anyone know of any documentation for using the 'Format Number'> New Custom Format for dates?
    If not, how can I have my date/time display as dd-mm HH:mm ?
    Tjamls

    Hi Joe,
    You cant define DATE syntax in format-number. Instead right click on DATE column, go to format-number -- date/time --- custom and add the following.
    Observe below screenshot.
    Now all dates will be in DD/MM/YYYY HH:MI:SS format.

  • How can I customize a number format?

    In the previous numbers release (Numbers 9) there was a menu were you were able to customize a number format similar to what you can do with Excel. Have they drop this functionality in the new release?

    And, in case you would like to get a more balanced view about new features as well as those removed, there is this article  and this thread.  Plus this announcement from Apple about features they plan to restore in releases over the next six months.
    If you use Excel and have a particular customized number format you need to use, I understand you can open the spreadsheet in Numbers and that customized format will be imported and made available to you in Numbers 3.0.

  • Showing Positive Sign as Number Format

    Hi all,
    Is it possible to set the number format (custom format) to show the positive numbers with positive sign (+) in front of the number (for example, +2, +2.3, +0.0, etc).
    I don't want to have to cast the number as string and do a concatenation. So, is it possible to do that using a custom number format?
    Thanks a lot!

    Yess it is possible....
    Go to Column Propoerites -> Conditionla Format - > Add Condition
    If seleted measure is greater than or equal to 0
    then Edit format will open . In that goto -> Data Format -> Check on Override Default Data Format -> Select Custom
    Then add this +##,###,###
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Custom number in download history for subscription buttons

    Ive emailed support about this but think it will be valuable to include here as well since i have not seen a solution. We currently use hosted buttons for recurring payments with the "custom" property set to our internal customer number. We set the custom value dynamically based on the current user. This all works perfectly and paypal correctly informs our back end via ipn of the the customer that has made a purchase.
    The issue we have is that the "custom" field value does not appear in the paypal transaction history logs as specified here under the "custom number" column.https://developer.paypal.com/docs/classic/admin/download-history/ --------------------------------------------
    Field Name : Custom Number
    Description: Specified by seller in any of the following button-creation fields:
    PayPal Shopping Cart Custom Number
    Buy Now Custom Number
    Subscription Custom Number
    Format: alphanumeric
    Payment Button Variable: custom
    Related IPN Variable: custom
    we desperately need every line in the transaction log to contain the custom value for each subscription so that we can tie transactions to customers.

    UPDATE, Recieved a reply from technical support saying that this is intended behaviour.  "Kindly be informed that it is an intended behavior that the value passed in custom variable will not reflect in transaction history but can only be seen via IPN. My sincere apologies for the inconveniences caused but that is how it works." I dont quite understand this when developer.paypal.com/docs/classic/admin/download-history/ explicitly states that this field IS available in the the report AND I can confirm it works for other button types.
    Custom Number
    Specified by seller in any of the following button-creation fields:
    PayPal Shopping Cart Custom Number
    Buy Now Custom Number
    Subscription Custom Number
    " Aslo it works for the non subscription button types.  I probably being fobbed off.

  • Can the number format be controlled with custom css styles

    I have a union query where the first query returns a count that I formated as a number '999,999' and the second query returns percentages that I want formatted as '99.9%' I can use conditional formatting to determine which part of the query the result came from but conditional formatting doesn't allow me to control the number format so I was wondering if custom css styles would allow me to control the format. Is converting the number to a character and concatenating a % sign ia better option. I was able to do this using BI Publisher and a different apporach but I want to be able to do it with Answers.

    Make sure the address bar in Contribute is displaying your URL and
    not a file path.
    Your administrator can remedy this by going to the role settings and making sure the Home address is set to the URL.  If you can't get the admin to update the role settings, you can enter your URL into the address bar and then the site should be able to find linked style sheets.

  • Custom Numeric Format - Treat Number as Custom

    Hi,
    I want to be able to format the number results in thousands or even in millions. In excel, the "in thousand" format will be like this:-
    _(* #,##0,;_(* (#,##0,);_(* "-"_);_(@_)
    How do we do it in Answers' column properties > data format?
    Any advise will be appreciated.
    Is there a list of the codes to use in the custom Numeric format?

    Hi,
    fx of Answer's column divide with 1000000 and select number of decimals in column properties -> data format
    for example table_name.amount/1000000
    UPDATED POST
    I think this is the only way...
    If answered assign points and close thread. it would be helpful for the users in the future......

    Hello,
    I have a question..
    How to convert the customer number (KONP-KUNNR) to unconverted value which in 10 characters?
    My customer number only has 8 characters, but I need to display it in 10 characters.
    Is there any standard function module that I can use?

    Hi,
    Use this FM CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_INPUT.
    data: lv_kunnr type kunnr.
    lv_kunnr = konp-kunnr.
    CALL FUNCTION 'CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_INPUT'
      EXPORTING
        input         = lv_kunnr
    IMPORTING
       OUTPUT        = lv_kunnr
    With this function module u get ur kunnr with 10 characters that is with leading zeroes.

  • If a Custom field is defined as Text in Project Server, but is actualy a number field, is it possible to number format it in a report (BI)?

    The users have defined the field as Text, and now the field contains data, so it is not possible to change the type.
    While including the field in the Report and choosing number format, it is not getting formatted (for example, if I want seperators like a comma for thousand).
    Is it possible?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    I don't think so you can directly format a text field as number in SSRS.  For doing this first you have to convert your text field into Integer or Decimal (whatever is your requirement) into SQL query.
    Then using SSRS textbox properties you can define the number format also can use the 1000 separator from SSRS then.
    To perform this, I have created a "Test" table with 2 columns only "ProjectName" varchar(50) and ProjectDuration Varchar(9).
    Then using SQL query first I converted ProjectDuration datatype from Varchar to INT using below query
    SELECT     ProjectName, CONVERT(int,ProjectDuration) ProjectDuration
    FROM         Test
    Then using SSRS interface changed the ProjectDuration tect box property like this
    That's all I am getting below desire result
    Hope this helps you and let me know in case have any doubts.
    Thanks !!!
