Custom or Purchased Ringtones Sound Muffled in 6.0.1

Custom ringtones sound muffled when used as ringtones, yet sound perfect when used as text tone or any other alert. This was fixed in IOS 5.1 but is now back. This is easily tested by going to sounds and listening to the custom ringtone in Ringtone then go to Text Tone and listen to the same file. There is a marked difference. The Ringtone sounds muffled and narrow-no bass, not much treble, the Text Tone sounds perfect, as it should.

I like you I have not been a user of this functionality.
Another editor (who was only learning the system) showed it to me and my initial reaction was "Wow, That's what that does?"
This would have been very helpful on the last two features I cut.
I even have to ask when did this fuctionality first work in FCP?
and now that I know about it, why is this not in the contextual menus?
Apple/FCP talks lots about being in Feature Film workflows
but this is just the sort of tools that feature editors need and want.
I am happy that soundtrackpro may be upgraded and now useable
but these sorts of double sound system issues have never been FCPs strong suit. I do wish that apple would go back and upgrade the sound inside of FCP. (better sync tools, better timecode tools, and real 5.1 mixing in the time line) - Cinema Tools needs an overhaul badly for 24 fps HD matchbacks...
The other two biggies in FCP for me are:
1)
A better trim mode - (more responsive key commands - live trimming...)
But here is a tool that most everyone hates and apple should take a stab at a better version, anything would be better..
( do it right and you could sell a lots of multi-touch tablets
2)
Being able to cut from a sequence as source (without nesting the sequence).
Every editor coming from the Avid in the last two years I've spoken to, howls about it. And yes you can "select in to out, copy, paste" but they are right. Think like an editor thinks, "Take my assembly reel and use that as source"....
oh sorry
I was ranting..
I will stop now
all the best

  • Purchased ringtones not apprearing in the rintone menu

Hi I upgraded from the iPhone4S to the iPhone5c.  My previously purchased rintones were not in the menu to avaiable ringtones.  I assumed this was due to the old tones not working with the new iOS.  So I purchased and downloaded a new ringtone via my phone on the iTunes store.  This file does show up in my musci but is still not avaiable as a selection in the ringtone menu.  I thought I may be able to move this over to the tones section of my phone so I connected my phone to my laptop and tried to manually move the file and iTunes wont allow it.  I did find my old ringtones listed in my tones folder on my phone but they are grayed out and I can't do anythign with tme I cannot even play them.  Is there anythign that I can do to get these working?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jenn

Connect up to iTunes and look for the Ringtones as an Option to check prior to a Sync.  There should be a specific choice that must be selected to download those custom or purchased Ringtones to your iPhone.

You would have to create the ringtones.
Google will find several way to do this.
You cannot buy ready made ringtones from your computer.

  • Purchased ringtone does not appear in list in settings/sounds/ringtones

Hi I bought a ringtone on my iphone today and I can see it in the purchased downloads, and I can see on my MacBook after sync, but it does not appear in the list of ringtones on my iPhone, so I can't set it as my default. Can anyone tell me how I find this purchased ringtone and set it as my default ring?

I pressed the itunes icon on my iphone, up came the title screen, and one of the offerings on it was "Ringtones RCP Ringtones 1.0" you either buy the full library of the tones for $3.99 or just one for .99, which is what I did, I found the one I wanted (it sounds like a British telephone with that double ring-ring) and hit the buy button. It asked for my iTunes password which I gave, and then it downloaded. In other words, exactly like any other itunes song does.
Now it's sitting on my iphone in the downloads file. When I couldn't get it to appear in the settings/sounds/ringtones section so I could choose it, I thought maybe I should do a sync with my itunes on my computer, so I did that, making sure that "sync ringtones" was checked. Now there is a new file on my computer itunes called "Purchased on [my name]'s iPhone" however there is nothing in the ringtones folder on the computer itunes, and I've tried dragging it out of that purchased folder into the library and into the ringtones folder and it won't go in.
I can play it on my phone, and I can play it on my computer. it appears like any other song on itunes. but I can't make it become the ringtone on my phone!

  • Unable to sync purchased ringtones after installing OS 5.0

Unable to sync purchased ringtones after installing OS 5.0 on my cdma iPhone 4.

When you go into your iPhone Settings>Sounds>Ringtones...what do you see? On mine...I have a list of "Purchased", "Custom" and "Standard". Do you have that?

  • Help with purchased ringtones...

So far I've got 3 purchased ringtones from iTunes. My issue is when I sync them, I go into settings then sounds and it shows that I have 3 custom ringtones but it shows 3 of whichever one I synced last. Am I doing something wrong? Does anyone else have this problem?

Deselect the "Manually manage music" option on the iPhone Summary tab in iTunes then go to the "Sync" tab and turn on the options to sync music and ringtones, and finally click the "apply" button. This will generally allow all ringtones to properly transfer. You can then turn "Manually manage music" back on

  • Purchased ringtones and alerts disappeared after updating to iOS 8.2

since updating to iOS 8.2 purchased alert tones and ringtones have disappeared and following the restore times link does not restore them. Also, cannot update any apps from the App Store. How do I get back my purchased ringtones and alert tones?

    Greetings EmmsieK13,
It sounds like you were trying to connect to the App Store when there were some system issues.
You can check the status at
Apple - Support - System Status
Note you can scroll back on the Detailed Timeline by clicking the back button to see some previous days.
Since the systems show they are up now, please try again and see this article for restoring your alert tones and ringtone purchases.

  • HT201272 purchased ringtone. REceived e-mail confirming purchase and charge to credit card. Can not find ringtone anywhere

Purchased ringtone from apps. Billed and charged. Can not find it on iPhone 4S or on computer.

If you bought it on your iPhone then it should be on it - it will only be on your computer's iTunes if you've copied it over (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases), in which case it should copy to the Tones part of your library (they won't appear in the Purchased link for re-downloading). It doesn't show on the list if you try to change one of your notification sounds on your phone via Settings > Sounds, or if you go into Contacts and select a contact and tap the Edit button at the top right does that allow you to assign that ringtone to that contact ?
Or is is a ringtone that you bought in an app i.e. not a ringtone from the iTunes store ?

  • Purchased ringtones are possessed!!!

My purchased ringtones are unresponsive when they go off - meaning I can't make them stop.
If I touch the text message they still do not stop alerting.
I can turn "off" the sound and they keep alerting.
I can turn the "volume button" all the way down and the alert will keep playing.
Nothing I do when the text alerts (which can sometimes be "long" and loud ringtones that I have purchased from the iTunes store) makes them turn off.
Not always, either. SOMETIMES they turn off. Sometimes if they come in and I touch the text message or preview the alert will stop. Other times...no way. Nothing turns them off.
    I have the 6+ 128gb
I had the same trouble with my 5
Any idea what causes this? An uncommon bug that apple just hasn't fixed yet?

    I found a solution here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/16442810#16442810
I hope it helps you too

  • Why does the ringtone sound worse AFTER I download it?

    Hi guys,
I'm having an odd issue. I just bought three ringtones direct on my iPhone 4S from the iTunes 'Tones' section, and when I set them as ringtones and preview them on the phone they sound really crappy. When I previewed them in the 'Tones' section and streamed them the sound was full and clear. Any ideas?
    Much appreciated,
    Sacha

I have exactly the same problem, the best way of describing the problem is that the ringtones sound very tinny, possibly distorted like they've completely lost the bass and much of the lower midrange.
Like Sacha I've purchased 2 ring tones from the iTunes store within my iPhone 4S (Nicki Minay - Super Bass, and The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra - Star Trek the Motion Picture), within the store they sound great but as soon as their assigned to ring tones they sound awful.  At first I assumed that the downloads must have been poorly compressed or something but I've since confirmed they play great on my PC.
I've also noticed something even more odd, if I use the ringtone as a text message tone on the iPhone one of them sounds great as it should but the other ones won't even play, very strange!  I've had a look at the tones on my PC and both are 30 seconds long, and both are compressed to 256kbps at 44.1khz so no obvious differences.  I've recompressed them to alternative bit rates but nothing seems to make a difference to the sound quality as a ring tone.
I've since tried both ringtones on my Wifes iPhone 4 and her's exhibits the same problems so not a handset or iPhone 4s specific issue.  It sounds to me like a software bug in iOS5?

  • Cannot purchase ringtones through iTunes

For some reason iTunes will not let me purchase ringtones any longer. Has anyone else experienced this problem? It syncs fine with my iPhone and everything else seems to be working fine. I'm able to create a customized ringtone then when I hit the buy button nothing happens.
I guess Apple doesn't want my money...
If I would delete and then reinstall iTunes will I lose all the songs, movies, applications and everything else?

I have the same exact problem. I have even purchased a ringtone on Itunes from my phone. It went through and I got the email confirmation, bt it only shows up in my Ipod part of the IPhone. Nowhere does it show up in my ringtones. With all of this technology and money being charged, I should atleast be able to get a live person to fix the proble. Does anybody know how to help? When you go to the song to report the problem, nothing happens there either. I am confussed??? Love the phone though:-)
