Custom OSX/Vista HDD Icons

Alright, I'm a huge fan of the OSX icons/visual theme already... But I have custom icons for my USB drives, my external drives, my camera, and even my phone, all made by myself... which were easy enough just to get a photo off google.
but here-in-lies the problem...
I WANT CUSTOM HDD ICONS TOO!
I can't simply search google for those ones...
So I'm turning to you, the people who have helped me with everything in the past.
I need one with the OSX Logo on it, and one with a Vista logo on it.
Perhaps just the X (or even finder's icon) and then the windows logo.
I have no problem with you taking the default icon and simply editing them. I love the default icons as is.

Hi,
You can costum made yourself using this application:

Good Luck.

  • Windows 7 beta: can't make hdd icon disappear while in OSX

    When using OSX now, on the desktop there is now the hdd icon that includes all the windows 7 files. When I go to finder prefs and uncheck Show hard disks the hdd icon containing the windows 7 files still remains. In order to remove the icon I have to uncheck the finder Pref Show CDs,DVDs and iPods. Don't really want to do that since those things won't appear on the desktop when connected. Any ideas why the hdd icon is being recognized by OSX as a CD, DVD or ipod in the finder prefes?
    lenn

    Hi lenn,
    easiest way to not show the Windows Icon while in OSX is to boot into Windows and use the Explorer to rename your Windows partition (the c:) to something starting with a . (point).
    That usually prevents the Windows Icon to be shown on your OSX.

  • Changing the vista drive icon...

    Alright, I've made custom icons for my OS X drive, and my VISTA drive on my desktop...
    However, I know it wont let me change it through the get info method... so I've tried
    http://wiki.onmac.net/index.php/Personalizeyourbootloader
    but the instructions there aren't working either...
    it shows that i have ._USB (my thumb stick)
    and ._Untitled and VISTA (with no ._)
    so i've tried doing the cp ._USB with ._Untitled ._VISTA and VISTA, and none worked. what am I doing wrong?

    I am a little confused by all of the above detail, but I assume you are wanting to label the Vista partition so that it shows up with something other than untitled in OS X. To do this requires that the change be made on the Vista side of things.
    Boot into Vista and right click on the drive. Rename at the top of that first screen. You will get a message about administrator authentication. Just click OK. The change should reflect instantly on the Vista side, and after a few seconds the next time you boot into OS X.
    Any changes that require writing to the Vista partition must happen within Vista. Vista is an NTFS partition, and OS X can only read the partition.

  • Backup a dual boot iMac with OSX + Vista to Time capsule and USB hard drive

    I have just bought a Time Capsule which is now working as my WiFi Network base station and backs up an iMac and a Macbook. The iMac has both OSX and Vista (using Boot Camp) and I was using a USB Hard Drive that has 2 partitions (HFS+ for the Mac; NTFS for Vista) to back up the iMac. Rather than leave this attached to the iMac just to back up the Vista partition I would like to move it to the Time Capsule's USB port and use it as NAS. The idea being that it becomes a NAS with one partition used to back up the Windows data when I run the iMac with Vista and the other partition to archive the Time Machine backups from both the iMac and Macbook. I tried to connect it as it was but got an error and reading the forum it seems that it won't work unless both partitions are HFS+ or FAT. If I reformat the NTFS partition to HFS+ will I be able to use the built in backup function of Vista to back up the Vista partition to the USB hard drive? I read somewhere else that Time Capsule takes care of the formatting for an external NAS drive and Windows will be able to read and write to it even though it's not NTFS. Any ideas comments appreciated.

    This is crude but if you need a work around, just plug the USB drive directly into the iMac.. copy the files to it.. then plug it into the TC.
    You also do not need to use the TC as an intermediary between your iMac and MBP.. just turn on sharing in the computer.. so you can directly copy files from one to the other.. Macs have public access directory preconfigured for each user account.
    As far as mounting the TC..
    In finder use Go, Connect to server.. and type.
    AFP://TCname or TCipaddress
    Where TCname is the actual name of the TC.. I strongly recommend you follow SMB network rules.. ie if your TC has a name like
    Fred Blog's Time Capsule 2445566.
    It is too long.. it has spaces and it has non-alphanumeric characters.
    Shorten it to FredTC
    No spaces no characters that are NOT alphanumeric.
    TCIPaddress is simply the standard IP.
    You can also use CIFS://TCname which according to the article forces the connection back to SMB1 rather than SMB2 which as usual is broken.
    But I would definitely use AFP if possible. I cannot understand the decision to move to SMB as standard.

  • HDD icons not appearing on my Gnome desktop when mounted [SOLVED]

    I have several ntfs partitons that I'd like to see as icons on my Gnome desktop.  When I ran Debian/Lenny, I would mount them like so:
    $ sudo mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sda2 /mnt/D
    After that command ran, a new icon (HDD) would appear on my Gnome desktop.  I didn't mess with fuseblock at all.  I'd like to get this behavior with Arch but don't understand what I need to do.
    Thanks!
    EDIT: foutrelis solved this, see his post below.

    It looks like if the mount point is under /media it will show up on the desktop. This is not the case with /mnt.
    You're the man, foutrelis!  That did it!  I can't explain why it worked mounted to /mnt/D under Debian but /media/D works for me!  Thank you for the reply!
    Now if you can tell me how I can edit the list of partitions that Gnome gives users, you'll be batting 1000.  Basically, I don't want every single partition to appear in the list.

  • CS6 - Custom Cursor & Button's icon

    I am trying to display a custom cursor when mouse is moving on a button which has icon.
    But the button's icon is always in front of my cursor image.
    How to make my cursor image on top?

    mouseFocusEnabled="true"
    mouseMove="ShowCustomCursor(event)"
    mouseOut="HideCustomCursor(event)"
    tabEnabled="false"
    useHandCursor="true"/>

    that's because your cursor is sporadically moving over your interactive objects interfering with their mouseevents.
    to remedy, disable the mouseEnabled property of your cursor.

  • How can I upgrade to new versions, but keep the custom look I love icons of the theme I've installed in version 3.6.n ?

    When will custom icons in themes be available for the new versions. The stripped down m9inimal version is just not appealing to me.

    First, try to determine the reason that Firefox 3.5.10 is hanging or not starting. Since you did not specify, you will need to read some of the following to determine hanging or starting; hanging usually gives you an error message when you try to start Firefox. See below. If you install Firefox 3.6.6 over the top of 3.5.10 and the cause of the hanging or not starting is one or more extensions or plugins or some other cause, Firefox 3.6.6 may experience the same problem.

    <u>'''Safe Mode'''</u>
    You may need to use '''[[Safe Mode]]''' (click on "Safe Mode" and read) to localize the problem. Firefox Safe Mode is a diagnostic mode that disables Extensions and some other features of Firefox. If you are using a theme, switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes <u>'''before'''</u> starting Safe Mode. When entering Safe Mode, do not check any items on the entry window, just click "Continue in Safe Mode". Test to see if the problem you are experiencing is corrected.
    See:

    If the problem does not occur in Safe-mode then disable all of your Extensions and Plug-ins and then try to find which is causing it by enabling <u>'''one at a time'''</u> until the problem reappears. <u>'''You MUST close and restart Firefox after EACH change'''</u> via File > Restart Firefox (on Mac: Firefox > Quit). You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window.

  • OSX Leopard enormous icons

    Just a general ruminating question. Anyone know why OSX Leopard (or any other OSX version that I recall) starts out life with absolutely ENORMOUS icons? I have no idea how to feed comments back to Apple, or indeed if they are interested, but I am searching for a little bit of sense here.
    Each Apple machine has a predetermined resolution, so it's not that the icon will look substantially smaller on my 30in monitors as against my new Mac Book Pro.
    Ideas much appreciated!
    Ian

    Not easy to know what you mean here, but you say; "... starts out life with absolutely ENORMOUS icons?" so I'm just taking a wild guess here.
    Are you meaning the icons in the dock being very big when first starting to use a new Mac or a new installation and then getting smaller as you put icons into it?
    If so, you can go into the preferences and set the size of the dock anytime you want.
    Excuse me if that's not what you are asking for. More information would be much appreciated.

  • OSX Menu Bar Icons Keep Disappearing

    Sometimes after a restart, items previously displayed in the OSX Menu Bar disappear.
    This happens consistently with :-
    - Date and Time : the pref item 'Show the date and time' becomes de-checked.
    Re-checking it displays the date and time icon in the Menu Bar.
    - Displays : the pref item 'Show displays in menu bar' becomes de-checked.
    Re-checking it displays the Displays icon in the Menu Bar.
    - Airport : the pref item 'Show AirPort status in menu bar' becomes de-checked;
    Re-checking it displays the Airport icon in the Menu Bar.
    - Fax : the pref item 'Show fax status in menu bar' becomes de-checked;
    Re-checking it displays the Fax icon in the Menu Bar.
    - Bluetooth : the pref item 'Show Bluetooth status in menu bar' is STILL checked, but the Bluetooth icon is not displayed;
    Un-checking and then re-checking it displays the Bluetooth icon in the Menu Bar.
    I have not observed a connection between this problem and any activities prior to restart - but the icons above usually (not always) disappear together. I know other users have this problem and that it has been addressed in a number of posts - but I am still looking for a reliable solution ...

    I am having similar problems. The items are usually disappearing when I move them using Cmd+Mouse Drag. For example, when I move the clock it disappears. However, stranger is that when I re-enable the clock display in Preferences, new clock appears, but the "hidden" time is present as well - I can get the time status item menu from blank space. I managed to have 5 hidden clocks there. Other items disappear as well.
    I tried to kill SystemUIServer - all items were removed, only spotlight icon was present. Then I reenabled all the items I wanted to have there. This kind-of fixed the problem. But still ... moving items will make them hidden, but still present in the menu bar.
    I am using OS X 10.4.10
    I have reported this (Bug ID# 5486548).

  • Custom devices have strange icons in system explorer

    In VeriStand 2013, my custom devices show up with strange icons in the system explorer. I've noticed this on several development computers. Are icons specifyable somewhere? Thanks.

    Hello h_yong,
    Yes icons are specified in the custom device xml and predefined glyphs are located at the following path: C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\NI VeriStand 2013\System Explorer\Glyphs.
    This discussion forum walks through the specifics of changing the icon for your custom device. I hope this helps.

  • Osx Lion moves icons in the desktop

    Hi All
    I've found that OSX Lion has the tendency of re-arranging the icons in the Desktop. It takes everything "to the right".
    Is that a bug or a feature?
    We should NOT have icons on our desktop?
    tx for the help

    As discussed on other threads, this is very widespread.
    For my solution, I did the following:
    Finder menu bar > Go > Go to folder > (type) ~/Library/Preferences
    There are lots of strange otherwise invisible files, but scroll down to
    com.apple.desktop.plist
    Drag this to the trash, and restart.
    If you had a desktop picture you will have to re-set it, but the icon-moving should stop.
    Why? I dont know.

  • Toshiba Rocket Red 640GB HDD - Icon is missing

    Hello all,
    I bought a Toshiba 640GB Portable External Hard Drive (Rocket Red) - HDDR640E04XR
    http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/adet.to?poid=451941
    and even though I specifically chose the option for NTFS, the setup program formatted it with FAT32. Well I deleted my partition and reformatted the drive in NTFS.
    The problem is that its beautiful and colorful official red Toshiba Drive icon is deleted, and it is replaced by windows generic hard drive icon (I am using Windows 7 64bit). Where can I download this red colored icon again? (it looked just like the Toshiba USB external drive, red colored)
    Thanks!

    Hi buddy,
    I think this special icon that you mean is stored on the local HDD. After formatting the whole HDD I think its deleted now and you can do nothing :(
    You should ask a friend that has the same model. I believe your friend can give you the icon again but another solution isnt known to me.
    Good luck! :)

  • TC-OSX-Vista-External Drive

    We have a small design firm here in SGF running 3 iMac's with OSX Leopard and one PC with Vista. We just purchased a 500 gig Time Capsule. We have two external hard drives connected, a LaCie and a My Book, both 320 gigs. All of the OSX machines can see the external drives fine. The PC can view the Time Capsule, but can not view the external hard drives. All I want to do is use the My Book as a place to store and access files from the PC and the OSX Machines.
    Any suggestions?

    Welcome the Apple Forum.
    This is a strnage problem.
    How were the two external hard drives formated?
    If they were FAT formated, you could try HFS+ instead.

  • Update to Yosemite gets double HDD icon in option restart

    After having updated to Yosemite, I get two Macintosh HDD and a Windows icons when I restart my computer?
    Can I get rid of one? How do I do that?
    Thanks for your assistance.
    Christopher

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    Start with the troubleshooting basics:
    1. Repair Permissions using Disk Utility
    2. Delete the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. You'll need to reset your User options afterwards.
    3. Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts) and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.
