Custom Printing

Howdy Forum,
Beginners question here for Lightroom 4 on pc.
I`m trying to set up a large custom size 16x24 which includes a white border with the view to saving this as a template.
I don`t have a printer therefore would have to save this to disk etc.
Can you point me in the right direction please regarding correct options for `page set up` since I keep getting clipping warnings..
Apologies for the lame question.

Hello JaedenRuiner,
>> Is there a way via .Net (using like System.Management or something) to prevent this dialog from opening.
Is this dialog opened from the Printer device? If so, I do not think .NET could interrupt a device operation to disable it. My suggestion is that you could try to close it as soon as it show, if it contains any button which is used to close it, you could
try to catch this button handle, and invoke its button click event. If it does not contain a button, you could try to use win32 api to close it directly:
http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/22257/Find-and-Close-the-Window-using-Win-API
For your second, it seems to be related with the configuration of the printer which is beyond the scope of our support, I suggest that you could ask it on the printer support forum.
Regards.

  • How to print Photo Info in the Custom Print Package

I am  using LR CC, latest version on a Windows7 PC.
I am trying to print Photo Info in the Custom Print package. I have no trouble selecting Photo Info in the Single Image/Contact Sheet Layout Style, but when I switch to the Custom Print Package, the Photo Info check box in the Page panel, disappears. I can't find any reference to this in the manual as to why this would occur, or not be available.
Appreciate any help with this matter.
    Best Regards
    Steve

    Hi,
Have a look at: Lightroom Help | Print module layouts and templates
Only on the Single Image and Contact Sheet layouts can you " ... print information about photos, such as the filename, title, caption, and keywords ..."

  • Is Custom print package "rotate to fit" still not implemented?

On Dec 2, Al-R started a discussion thead for LR3 beta about a problem he was having with rotating an image to fit a frame he created using the Custom Print Package. He couldn't get the image to rotate to fit. I get the sense that the "rotate to fit" check box wasn't available. I never downloaded the beta of LR3 so I don't know this for sure, but that seemed to be the case based on the dialogue in his thread.
Ian Lyons solved the mystery by pointing out that the Custom Print Package feature was not complete in the beta, and that Rotate To Fit was one of the things that hadn't been implemented. He said he expected it to be implemented in the final shipping release.
While the Rotate To Fit check box is now available in the Custom Print Packate (shipping version 3.0), it doesn't have the intended effect. When dropping a portrait image onto a landscape frame in the Custom Print Package, the frame is ignored and the image expands to fit the paper size. Checking Rotate To Fit on and off has no effect. The only work-around I have found is to rotate the image prior to dropping it on the frame. Once the orientations match, the image fills the frame properly.
Is this a case of the feature not making it into the final release, or is this a bug, or am I missing something really important here?
    Thanks for your help,
    Charlie

  • Problem with custom print dialog in Illustrator cs3 on OS X

    Hello Illustrator Support Forum,
I am an IT systems administrator and I have a user that has a problem when printing from Illustrator to our Ricoh photocopier.  The problem is that Illustrator uses its own custom print dialog and not the default mac os x system one.  This prevents the print job from going through because it does not send the required user code along with the print job.
A work around we found was to print to Adobe Distiller creating a pdf then printing from there but this definately not ideal.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you,
    - Vince

    Hi Larry,
Thanks for the tip.  This makes it a bit easier of a work-around but its still not a fix for the initial problem of printing directly through Illustrator.

  • How to set and save Custom Print Settings in Aperture?

How to set and save Custom Print Settings in Aperture
    Hi,
I am printing 12x18" images on 13x19" sheets. I find it difficult to enter the 13x19" dimensions because each value jumps to another random value when I move to enter the second dimension. For instance 13 jumps to, say, 8.5 as I type 19 into the second box. Same with the sheet dimensions.
Also, when I finally get it all correctly, the margins don't set themselves automatically - which I would I expect.
Then, even though I save the setting by clicking Save Setting at the gear below, next time I turn Aperture on, it's all gone.
    Any ideas? Thanks.
    Raphael

For me, it is working with these settings, Raphael.
Does your image have a 12x18" aspect ratio? You may want to crop it to the desired aspect ratio before printing.
I can only test with Aperture 3.6 on Yosemite 10.1.

  • Contents of a custom print program for a custom smartform

    Hi...
Can you please tell me if we are writing a custom print program from scratch for a custom smartform for which there is no standard form available what are all the things that need to be coded in the print program..
My doubts on this are if we are configuring this form for output types of PO purchase order for mediums 1,2, 5 and 6 does any extra coding need to be done in the print program that is related to these mediums or is it just a configuration issue..
Apart from data retrieval part and call the function modules to send the data to smartforms what are the other things that we need to code in a custom smartform..  Anything that we need to code related to printing issues..
It would be great if someone can post a custom print program for any output type valid for mediums 1, 2, 5 and 6.
Also my last doubt is do we need to do anything in SE11 in designing a smartform and in what context do we need it...
Thanks and appreciate your help... Surely will reward for all the helpful answers..
    Thanks again..
    Kanthi..

    Hi,
yes you need to create your own print program. You need to catch printing information and to send data to your smartforms.
To send data to your smartforms you need to use structure describe in the data dictionnary.
This is a peace of code for sending information to a smartform that will be print used an external program (Esker)

  • Setting Custom printer to default

Printing is not work for me with Read 8.1 on Linux (Ubuntu). It only works if I set printer to Custom and give it an explicit command, e.g. "Lpr -Plp4".
However whenever I restart reader it does not keep custom as the default but goes back to the value set in "LPDEST" environment variable, anyone know how to fix this?

    Hello Neha,
Clicking on the properties button does not seem to have any effect, i.e. no text is displayed.
In the Printer dialog box I have on the left:
Name lp4 (from pull down menu)
    status lp4 is ready
    Type Unknown
    when I run "strace -s 256 -f -ff -o log1 acroread"
and using the "default printer" in the pull down menu I get this line amongst others in the main log
    readv(3, [{"*acroread*lprCommand:\t/usr/bin/lpr -Plp4\n", 41}, {"\0\0\0", 3}], 2) = 44
and this line in the subprocess log
    execve("/usr/bin/lpr", ["lpr", "-P", "lp4", "/tmp/acroread_1128_1128/AcroPTv0YZ"], [/* 81 vars */]) = 0
    but no print output.
Doing the same but choosing to use the "custom printer /usr/bin/lpr -Plp4" gave this line in the main log
    readv(3, [{"*acroread*lprCommand:\t/usr/bin/lpr -Plp4\n", 41}, {"\0\0\0", 3}], 2) = 44
and this line in the suprocess log
    execve("/usr/bin/lpr", ["lpr", "-Plp4", "/tmp/acroread_1128_1128/Acro2p8I98"], [/* 81 vars */]) = 0
    and it prints output
If do the same again but use the "custom printer /usr/bin/lpr -P lp4" I get
    readv(3, [{"*acroread*lprCommand:\t/usr/bin/lpr -Plp4\n", 41}, {"\0\0\0", 3}], 2) = 44
    execve("/usr/bin/lpr", ["lpr", "-P", "lp4", "/tmp/acroread_1128_1128/AcroPTv0YZ"], [/* 81 vars */]) = 0
    and again it prints output
    thanks,
    Dave.

  • Pro-100 Custom Printer Profiles

Has anyone had success in using a custom printer profile with this printer. Glossy generic Canon paper profiles work ok but are not completely on the money. I get a little too much red. I had a custom profiles created by reputable 3rd party provider for a variety of Canon papers. When I use them to print the test sheets the anomalies are dramatic.  Instead of smooth transition of colors steps and anomalies are are printed throughout the test sheet. When I print the Macbeth color chart an example of how far the colors are off one could not find the red square on the printed output. Thinking the provider had a bad day I asked him to do it again. There was no change in the results. I then went out and bought an Xrite Color Munkie. I have the same results as with the 3rd party provider's color profile.
Previously I used custom profiles with the i9900 for years. Still using the same computer and software; CS5 and Vista 64 bit OS. I let Photoshop manage the colors, I select the custom profile,  check Manual on the print driver screens, and select None for Color Correction on the Matching tab. Am I missing something?

I tried the Color Correction to None and when i started from scratch and redid my profiles it worked! Thank you
What I find troubling is where is this explained in the manuals or help? If this is a "professional printer" then custom profiles are going to be used.
Where is the expalnation for the other options on this screen particularly ICM. When it is chosen I only see Paper company profiles. Why do I not see my custom profiles (see link on previous comment)? When I press Help I get the following:
"ICM (ICC Profile Matching) Adjusts the colors by using an ICC profile when printing. Specify the input profile, printer profile, and rendering intent to be used." If your major software products from Adobe and Apple do the color management why is this here?  Somewhere in the internet, not at Canon site, I see its purpose is for applications that do not control the color management.  Which begs the question how many users who use  that kind of software are going to look, find, and understand this screen and color profiles.
Sorry after losing a lot of time and money I have to vent at Canon.   I do appreciate the help. Thanks again.

  • Officejet 5610 not able to create custom print sizes

Hi -- I use my Officejet 5610 for both my work and my personal printing needs.  On my work computer which has Windows XP as the operating system,  when I got to Properties and Paper Options/Quality tab there is a button for me to select "Custom Size".   On my personal computer which has Vista Home Basic as the operating system there is no option on the Paper Options/Quality tab to choose a custom print size.  Is there a driver that I might be missing which would allow the custom print size on the Vista computer?  I'm trying to print envelopes which are 6" x 9" and nothing I do seems to work.  I have managed to print one envelope using Letter size but that took about 6 hours to get one printed.   My envelopes keep causing a paper jam -- which once cleared from the printer is still showing up as a jam on the computer and I have to re-boot the whole system to clear it.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Try the following
open solution center> Setting> Printer Settings> Print settings and you will find a custom option there and then create a new size and give it a name and when you print from any application you will see the new size reflection in the application. Are you not seeing the custom option as seen below?

  • Cannot set custom print settings using mg6220

Have just purchased a new iMac running 10.8.2 and Canon MG 6220.  Can print, but am not able to set custom print settings and see disclosure triangle in the Print Dialogue Window that I would click on to get to this option.  The instructions and illustrations in the manual are not the same as what I am seeing in my print window.

Then I think you have selected the AirPrint driver rather than the MG6200 Series driver.
So what you can do is open Print & Scan, select the current MG6220 in the Printers list and press the minus button to remove it. Then click on the plus button next to the minus button to add but if a little sub-menu window appears showing the MG6220 under the heading of Nearby Printers, as shown below with my MP990, do not select this.
Instead, select the menu item that says Add Printer or Scanner. This will make the Default Add printer view appear. Here you should see the MG6220. Select it and if the Use menu shows AirPrint, click on this menu and select Canon MG6200 Series. Then click Add to complete. This should now give you the same Quality & Media menu that I have shown above.

  • IPhoto, Colorsync and Custom Printer and display profiles

I am attempting to understand the way that iPhoto 6 handles/uses custom ICC profiles that have been set in System Prefs>Monitors>Color, and in Utilities>ColorSync Utility>Devices>Printers.
In short, my monitor and printer have both been custom profiled, (Using System Preferences>Monitors>Color, I've set my custom monitor profile. Using the ColorSync utility I have selected my custom ICC profile for my printer). My camera is using SRGB. iPhoto is set to 'Add ColorSync profile'.
Page setup is set for the proper printer and paper size.
Using the Advanced Print Setup I have selected the appropriate paper type, turned off printer color correction, and activated ColorSync color correction.
I'm not certain that iPhoto and ColorSync are actually talking to each-other.
I come from a Photoshop background, where it is possible to set the printer profile at output, using 'Print with Preview'. This setup is intended for my parents though, so Photoshop is not an option.

    1. > What sort of output problems are you encountering?
    1) No output problems, I'm simply trying to figure out ColorSync interacts with iPhoto as there's little or no documentation on the topic.
    2. > Also what printer are you using or your parents will be using?
    2. My folks are using a Canon S820
More specifically, I'm hoping to use a custom printer profile, which has produced decent color accurate results with this setup in Photoshop.
This presents 2 questions, a) how to utilize the new custom printer profile in iPhoto (use color sync utility? by declaring the profile in the 'Current Profile' section for the device) and b) does iPhoto pay attention to the Current Profile selected profiles when printing?
Basically I'm looking for info regarding the behavior of iPhoto with regards to ColorSync. The lack of documented info is the problem.
I was told today when on the phone with Apple, that iPhoto pays attention to the default profile and not the Current Profile selection, but the rep didn't sound sure, so I'm not too confident in his response.
Also, it doesn't make sense to me that ColorSync Utility would allow you to select a profile and that iPhoto would then subsequently ignore it.
My folks are importing camera images that are tagged as sRGB, iPhoto is set to apply the profile per the advanced prefs, their monitor is profiled and the profile is activated.
iPhoto has plenty of documentation regarding the tagging of images with color profiles, and the display of these profiles with regard to Apple monitors (by using CameraRGB etc) but not a heck of a lot devoted to getting good prints at home through the use of ColorSync, and custom profiles.
ColorSync was designed for just this type of thing, and when you print, it's available as a color correction option in the Color Settings section of the print dialog box, but there's nothing written regarding using it effectively and properly.
Getting color accurate prints is not a 'Pro' feature, it's something that the Mac is supposed to embrace out of the box thru the use of ColorSync...that's the whole point of ColorSync a system wide color management workflow regardless of the 'Pro-ness' of the app or so I thought.
Every rep (AppleStore, Genius Bar, Creatives, AppleCare, iPhoto Software support) try to pass this of as a pro feature, and it is not– is something that ColorSync is supposed to be doing for the whole system, not just Aperture or Photoshop
