Custom Ringtone not sync

I got a few ringtones (self made and downloaded). They appear in my Ringtones list of iTunes. However, when i sync, they dont sync with the iPhone 3G. The iTunes setting has 'Automatically Sync when this iPhone is connected' checked. Under the Ringtones tab, 'Sync Ringtones' is checked and set to 'All Ringtones'. However, during sycn the progress bar on top only shows it syncing Apps. It does not have any problems syncing music. Only the Ringtones have an issue.
On the iPhone.. under the Settings/Sounds, I dont see any custom Ringtones either.
I am sure this must be some stupid checkbox setting somewhere. Just to be sure, i rebooted the iPhone. But no joy. Is Apple becoming a Microsoft?

Are they checkmarked? If the main tab has sync of only checked songs and videos, the ringtones also must be checked.
I agree that itunes is turning into an extremely complicated set of checkmarks scattered all over the place. Just start using podcasts, especially video podcasts that should sync in and out as they are played, while you also try to keep certain other types of videos on there all the time no matter how often they are played. It gets difficult because some kinds of content appear in the song library, the video library, and any one of the movie list / podcast list / tv show list... Blech.

  • IPhone Ringtone Not Synced to iPhone

I bought a ringtone-eligible tune at the iTunes store, edited it, and it appeared in iTunes as a ringtone. When I synced my iPhone to the SAME computer, which is the computer I always sync the iPhone to, the ringtone did not sync and I got this message: "The ringtone was not copied to the iPhone because you are not authorized to play it on this computer." Same message when I try to transfer the tune I just bought to the iPhone. Of course, I can play the tune AND the ringtone just fine on the computer in question. Can anybody explain or help? Thanks.

My problem is similar. I had a few dozen songs I'd bought over the years that showed up this morning as "ringtone eligible". Then I bought two new ones. Everything downloaded correctly. Then I realized that I couldn't 'edit' the ringtone because my laptop's sound ports don't work any more, so I copied the two new songs to a Mac at work, and "authorized" that Mac to play the songs. That all worked fine, but suddenly the ringtone icon was gone from the newly downloaded songs. Then, when I looked at my laptop on the adjoining desk, ALL the ringtone icons had disappeared from my previously purchased songs and the two new ones. Now I can't find any way to get the ringtone icons back, and therefore I can't make any ringtones at all (even though I had dozens of eligible songs only moments before!). I also noticed that, on the laptop, there is an icon in the left-hand list for Ringtones (under Music, iTunes Store, etc.) but on the desktop computer (running the exact same version of iTunes - 7.4.1 (2)) there is no such icon. The songs play on both computers, but there are no ringtone icons anywhere (the column is visible, but empty). Any ideas?

  • Ringtones not syncing

I've actually never had this problem before, but now I can't seem to get all of my ringtones to sync up to my iPhone 5c.
I have the latest version of iTunes (11.3) and the latest iOS (7.1.2), and all of my clips are under 30 seconds. I thought maybe there was a cap on how many ringtones I could have on my phone at one time, so I deleted a few, bringing my number down to 12 from 14. This didn't work, obviously. It will only sync 7 out of 12 songs, and I'm not sure why. All of the songs are AAC format, under 30 seconds, and are obviously recognized as ringtones by iTunes, so I'm sort of at a loss.
There are pictures below to demonstrate what I mean.I've been trying repeatedly to get these tones to sync for about two hours now and I'm getting really frustrated. Hopefully someone can help me out.

Did you sync the podcast and ringtones to your iphone?
In the reviews in the itunes store, there are suggestions on how to make it work.

  • Transfer ringtones not synced with itunes to new phone

I have an iPhone 4s that has ringtones on it. They have not been synced with iTunes and don't show up in the Tones Library when I sync. When I look at the sync options in iTunes and select Sync Tones, I get a message "Music, movies, TV shows, books, and tones synced to "My Phone" from other iTunes libraries will be removed and items will be synced from this iTunes library." I'm hesitant to do that because I'm afraid I'll lose the ringtones I actually have on my phone.
    Two questions:
    1. If I Sync Tones with my iPhone 4s, will I lose the tones that are on my phone?
    2. I now have an iPhone5s that I want to get those ringtones on. How can I do that?

  • RINGTONES NOT SYNC WITH CONTACTS?

My ringtones are not syched with my contacts, since update to iOS 5.0.1.  The ringtones are on my phone, and each contact shows the correct selected ringtone, but only the single ringtone that will play is the default as selected under Settings/Sounds/Ringtone.  Anyone have an idea as how to correct?

This is a software issue. When this happened the Apple Genius swapped out my older iPhone as it had no water damage or anything of the like. You fix this by restoring the phone and SETTING IT UP AS A NEW IPHONE. This happens when certain files needed to process the photos info get corrupted (Usually during an Upgrade of the firmware). When restoring DO NOT RESTORE FROM BACKUP! SETTING UP AS A NEW PHONE IS REQUIRED TO FIX THIS.
    Hope this helps.

  • Custom Ringtone Sound Quality

I just got my iphone a couple of days ago, and I love having ringtones!
I read that you would have to spend money on itunes to buy a song and create a ringtone, but as a poor college student I tried to find ways to create my own custom ringtones and sync them to my iphone.
Fortunately I have found a very easy and simple way of creating custom ringtones, and in fact it works!
However, the sound quality of the ringtones coming out through the speakers is not very good. (especially the bass - i like a lot of rap and r&B)
Is there any way to fix this?
(of course when I receive a call through my headphones, the quality is fine)

Congrats on finding out how to make your own (I do as well and I know a lot of people do).
As for sound quality of speaker. Well you sort of have to remember, the speaker on the phone isn't meant for music playback. It is there for the phone. It is designed for voice levels and pitches. Not for musical playback. While yes one can play music through it (or musical ringtones), the quality will suffer. The musical side of the phone (iPod) is meant to be listened to via headphones or attached external speaker system (like every other iPod).
So in the end, not much you can do to make it sound better.

  • I have synced by I-phone to I-tunes to sync custom ringtones but they do not show up on I-Phone.  They are in the syncing que in I-tunes but not on phone.  Can someone help here.

I am having problems syncing the I-Phone ringtones from I-tunes to the I-Phone.  These are custom ringtones and they do show up in the I-tunes ringtones and syncing seems to work but they are not on the I-Phone?

    1. CC 2014 uses different folder for CEP extensions. If you installed both CC apps and CC 2014 apps, Extension Manager CC will install CEP extensoins to both "~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEPServiceManager4/extensions" and "~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions". Please check if you can find your extensions in the latter folder.
    2. Flash based extensions are no longer supported by PS CC 2014. So if some of your extensions are Flash based, even if they are installed to the folder above, PS CC 2014 will not load them. You have to install their HTML based counterparts. Refer to

Paul--you are a life-saver!! Worked great. I did have to look around to make sure I was getting 4.9 instead of 4.7 (even when the file was named 4.9 at techspot.com), but I finally got the right file, did the install as you suggested, and everything is now fine. One note, though, that I haven't seen mentioned in any of this thread: when I first tried to open up iTunes after getting back to 4.9, the following message appeared: "The file iTunes Library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes." I merely went to the old .itl file that was created when I did the update to iTunes 5, renamed it, moved it over to my now new 4.9, and iTunes opened fine. My library was a few days out of date, because of the few days' lag from the time I did the iTunes update, but that was easily taken care of, and everything's now working fine. Thanks again!!!

Yes, the file extension is M4R.  Does it matter where I save these files on my Macbook?  I then opened them in Itunes and played them.  I did find the Tones folder in Itunes but the Tones or Ringtones tab does not show up when I select Iphone (within Itunes).  When I open the Tones folder in the Library, it is empty.  Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Custom Ringtones Will Not Sync to iPhone 4s with Latest iOS

I have been using a custome ringtone on my iPhone 4s for about a year and a half now without an issue.  Today, I went to add another and when I went to sync it to the phone, It showed up in iTunes (under the device) grayed out, with a dotted circle next to it and it does not show up in the phone.  Just to try something, I deleted my original ringtone and the new one from iTunes, then imported them both back into the library.  I tried to sync again and neither show up in iTunes, under the device nor the phone.
What can I do to fix this?

    More information...
In order for me to get this to do anything at all, I had to drag the file from the Tones folder in the Library to the phone.  I just did this with both of my ringtones and my original is now back on the phone, but the new one is still grayed out in iTunes in the Tones folder under the device with the dotted circle next to it.
    HELP!!!

  • I recently got a new computer and now can't transfer new songs from my library to my iphone. are not listed in my library so I'm afraid that if I sync with the new library I will lose all of my custom ringtones.

My custom ringtones don't show up in my iTunes library (only on my iPhone library) so I'm afraid that if I sync to the new computer I'll lose my tones. I've tried backing up on my computer, but then I can't find that information to bring into iTunes.  I've tried backing up to the Cloud, but it requires me purchasing more space (which I don't want to do).  I've already turned off most of my apps, but I'm still over the limit.

  • I do not have a custom ringtone folder in my iphone 5.  I have gone to settings ringtones and there is no folder. In iTunes I have created the file and changed to M4r.  The song is less than 20 seconds.  I have synced my iPhone with iTunes but no folder.

How do I make a folder in my Iphone 5 for custom ringtones?
I have made it a m4r file that is less than 30 sec. Synced phone with the latest version of iTunes.  They show up in itunes as custom ringtones but there is no folder on my iPhone 5. Thanks!!!

Yes, it has to be smaller than 35 seconds.
    Enjoy your ringtone.

  • Custom Ringtones Show Up in iTunes Folder, but Not on iPhone

I've recently upgraded from a 3GS to a 4G. I have a few custom ringtones that I created from .MP3 files (converted to .m4r files). I had these same ringtones installed on my 3GS and want them on my 4G.
I transferred to my 4G by dragging them from the Windows folder to the iTunes device folder. The 5 ringtones show up in iTunes under the Ringtones folder. Only one of them shows up on the phone as being transferred.
I had done this a couple of days ago, and noticed then that only one ringtone was being shown under Custom Ringtones on my phone. Tonight, I uninstalled them all, rebooted my phone, and then re-dragged the files as per above. Again, all show up in the folder on the iPhone in iTunes, but one shows up on the phone. This is now a different one than a couple of days ago.
Soooo... what can be causing this? The files are apparently on my phone, but not appearing in the usable list. I need some help in resolving this. I've looked through these forums and seen similar issues. There doesn't seem to be a 'proper' way to do this. I manage my phone manually, and have not done a 'sync' with the ringtones as they show up in the folder... (I don't really see the need to sync if they're appearing in iTunes as on the phone).
    Thanks!

    Hi
having the same problem with my both devices.
already have custome ringtones and wanted to add more, followed the instruction and now i have them in iTunes under the Ringtones section.
my devices are iPhone 4 and using OS 4.21
during the sync i saw that the ringtones are added and they appear under the ringtone selection under the device info, however they do not appear on the device after sync.
    any help??
by the way, i have read all the previous messages and i cant find any ringtone folder under iTunes folder

  • Custom ringtone sync error

I have an window vista and i try to make an custom ringtone, and i got this message " Attempting to copy to the disk "<iPod name>" failed. An unknown error occurred (-54)."

Thanks for the advice, carried out the instructions (twice to make sure I hadn't missed something) and sure enough, iTunes now actually shows the custom tones syncing on the 'action' bar at the top of the screen. However the tones still do not appear on my iPhone.
Still, I am one step nearer thank you.
