Custom ringtones on the Alias 2

I used to have ATT and this was very easy but now I'm having headaches with my new Verizon phone.
How do I actually use a custom ringtone that I save to my microSD card?  I can play it through the music player but there's no options other than play.  I've read that I can email my ringtone as an attachment to my phone but will this charge me data even if I have unlimited texting (including pix) in my plan?  I shouldn't even have to do that if I have the file on my phone already.  Please help.
Thanks

No data charge, it will count as a text message.  Mary has provided instructions... I shouldn't even have to do that if I have the file on my phone already.  On some phones you can use ringtones from the SD card.  On others the file has to be on the phone memory itself.  The Alias2 sounds like it uses ringtones from the phone memory, so you will need to receive it as a text message and save it as a ringtone to get it to work.  Technically if it is on the SD card it is NOT actually "on the phone".  Please help.

In Jabber for Windows 10.6, you can change the ring tones.

  • My custom ringtones keep disappearing

I have set custom ringtones (for certain contacts) in my iPhone 6+.  All the ringtones were downloaded from iTunes.  I set a custom ringtone on the phone, but later the ringtone changes to the "opening" tone in place of all my custom tones.  It only does this for custom tones, not those set to the phone's default ring.
I've noticed that it happens after I access a contact on my iMac.  If I use only the iPhone to to view contact information, the custom tone stays there.  But if I access a contact on the iMac, then go back to the iPhone, once again the ringtone is the one called "Opening."
I have synced the phone with iTunes on the computer, and the ringtones are in my iTunes library.
On a related note, the Contacts app on my iMac will not allow me to set ringtones for a contact.  Again, the ringtones are there in iTunes, I just cannot use them.
    Any suggestions?

The exact same thing happens to me. Twice I downloaded a minions ringtone and text tone, and twice it vanished.... I am not wasting any more money to feed these people, as they dont seem to care that they are taking your money each time. WHAT THE **** IS HAPPENING APPLE? WHY ARE OUR TONES DISAPPEARING? PLEASE ANSWER.....
I have had to resort back to the old car claxon horn .... (yawn)

  • Transferring Ringtones to the LG Voyager (Verizon)

Does anyone know how to transfer a custom ringtone to the Voyager from iTunes. I do have the USB cable that came along with the Voyager (that is usually associated with VCast Music Manager - (sort of like the iPhones ability to transfer iTunes into their system - only Voyager's is easier and better)).
I recently talked to the customer rep of iTunes and he mentioned that the format of the ringtone is a MP3 and should be able to be transferred but that he didn't know how (probably because he works for apple).
Has anyone done this before, or know how to? All help would be appreciated!
    THANKS!

Well, unfortunately you can't use downloadable ringtones because they are specially formatted for the iPhone only. There is a way to do it manually for free. This is what u need:
1 blank cd (rewritable ok, preferred though)
software for ur phone (or for smartphone just drag and drop)
    USB/FireWire connection+ ur phone
    cd burning capable drive
    windows OS(operating system)
    iTunes
First, right click the song you would like as a ringtone in ur itunes library, right click the song and click get info and go to the options tab. There are two checkboxes, start time and end time. Check both. Change the start time to the desired time. ( when main chorus starts, etc.) (you may need to experiment with this a bit to get it just right by exiting the window and checking where the lyrics are and entering the time in the start time box.. Don't forget the colons) to get even more detailed u could enter a start time such as 2:35:56(2min,35sec,56millsecs). This makes ur ringtone sound professional. Now as soon as the info is entered for the start time, do the same for the end time, concentrating on the end main lyrics. Keep experimenting with the song until it sounds like a ringtone to ur liking. (remember, a standard ringtone lasts from 15-30 seconds, so keep it about 20 seconds or so. Or else it will cut off.) when u are done, create a playlist(just a regular playlist) and drag and drop the song into it in iTunes. Name the playlist anything that u would like(this is basically going to be the digital name of the cd)now before u burn anything, I recommend adding a few more ringtones so u dont waste a cd. Also, before u burn if u have any questions up to this point make sure u respond in this message. When u are ready, insert ur blank disc( u may get a message pop up saying how to burn the disc, just close it and exit any autoplay pop ups)click burn disc in the lower right hand corner and it will burn the song(s). When it is finished, choose to import the songs to ur iTunes library. Something will pop up at the end saying that you have duplicate songs, DO NOT click replace or delete to recycle bin. It will delete ur original song otherwise. Just keep both files. Now the songs are imported, u can now find them in ur iTunes music folder under the artist name and drag and drop the files to ur device. ( copy it) if u use a certain software, navigate to the iTunes music folder and select it and drop it into the program when it gives u the option to do so. Ok well I hope this helps u somewhat and if u need any help, just reply or email me and I'll help u asap. Good luck(by the way, changing the start time or end time won't change the song perminately until u burn it. So when u finished burning the song and u confirm that everything works, make sure u go back to the original song in ur library and uncheck the start and end time boxes, otherwise any iPod u connect and automatically sync will sync the edited song.)

Custom ringtones are not currently supported in the current build of WP7, as you have obviously discovered. Custom ringtones are slated to be added in the Mango\7.1\7.5\whatever-they-finally-call-it update.
For now, enjoy all the wonderful tones Microsoft created to enhance the Windows Phone 7 experience
Correct.  The only way to install custom ringtones right now is to hack the phone, and if you are inclined to do that, you can find directions over at XDA-Developers.com.

  • I have synced by I-phone to I-tunes to sync custom ringtones but they do not show up on I-Phone.  They are in the syncing que in I-tunes but not on phone.  Can someone help here.

I am having problems syncing the I-Phone ringtones from I-tunes to the I-Phone.  These are custom ringtones and they do show up in the I-tunes ringtones and syncing seems to work but they are not on the I-Phone?

    1. CC 2014 uses different folder for CEP extensions. If you installed both CC apps and CC 2014 apps, Extension Manager CC will install CEP extensoins to both "~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEPServiceManager4/extensions" and "~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions". Please check if you can find your extensions in the latter folder.
    2. Flash based extensions are no longer supported by PS CC 2014. So if some of your extensions are Flash based, even if they are installed to the folder above, PS CC 2014 will not load them. You have to install their HTML based counterparts. Refer to

  • I can see only one ringtone in the custom ringtone box.plz help

i can see only one ringtone in the custom ringtone box.plz help

    Cap,
This view, with the one photo big and the thumbnail strip across the top, is what happens when you double-click a photo with "Edit in: Main Window" set in the Preferences. There should be a button visible that says either Done or Return, to exit edit mode and return you to the library. If you still see only one photo, use the size slider in the lower right corner to reduce the photo size and get more thumbnails on the page.
If, for some reason, you can't exit the edit mode, you may have a corrupt preference file. Quit iPhoto. Use the Finder to navigate to Macintosh HD/ Users/ (your user name)/ Library/ Preferences/ com.apple.iPhoto.plist and move that file to the Trash. Launch iPhoto, and you should be returned to the main viewing mode. You'll have to go in the Preferences and reset them to your liking.
    Regards.

  • I've spent an hour plus googling this and none of the 'fixes' works. My custom ringtones show up fine in itunes but are grayed out in iphone when I try to sync. This just happened when I synced my phone: previously worked fine.

I've spent an hour on this: massively frustrating. My custom ringtones disappeared from iphone when I just sync'd and now show up in itunes/iphone interface (on the mac) grayed out: won't sync to phone. I know the audio files work because they were fine two hours ago! (iphone 5 running 8.1.3)

I had this problem too after i upgdatd to OS X Mavericks... only the songs on my iphone 5s that i purchased from itunes would play.
i read something about it being a syncing issue. when you plug your phone into your computer with the usb cable, the person said to switch from automatic syncing of itunes to the "manual" option. mine was already set to manual so i wasn't sure anything would work. BUT, when i plugged my phone into my computer, it started to sync all of my music on my phone again (top of itunes bar where song playing/time is listed said "now syncing 123/534 songs to x's iphone"). once that was completed, i checked the music app on my iphone and everything was back to normal!
so, i would suggest setting your music syncing settings to manual if you haven't tried that yet!
    hope this helps!

  • I recently got a new computer and now can't transfer new songs from my library to my iphone. are not listed in my library so I'm afraid that if I sync with the new library I will lose all of my custom ringtones.

My custom ringtones don't show up in my iTunes library (only on my iPhone library) so I'm afraid that if I sync to the new computer I'll lose my tones. I've tried backing up on my computer, but then I can't find that information to bring into iTunes.  I've tried backing up to the Cloud, but it requires me purchasing more space (which I don't want to do).  I've already turned off most of my apps, but I'm still over the limit.

  • I do not have a custom ringtone folder in my iphone 5.  I have gone to settings ringtones and there is no folder. In iTunes I have created the file and changed to M4r.  The song is less than 20 seconds.  I have synced my iPhone with iTunes but no folder.

How do I make a folder in my Iphone 5 for custom ringtones?
I have made it a m4r file that is less than 30 sec. Synced phone with the latest version of iTunes.  They show up in itunes as custom ringtones but there is no folder on my iPhone 5. Thanks!!!

Yes, it has to be smaller than 35 seconds.
    Enjoy your ringtone.

I am a Windows user. This Sync process is VERY confusing.

How can I possibly get these two new ringtones onto the iPhone without wiping out everything else on the phone? This Sync process is nuts.
I have Backed Up the phone twice. Why would iTunes try to wipe out the phone?

  • I added a custom ringtone . Then later I tried to add another three set  but now after sync . Am not able to get rid of the first one... It's still there as my custom ringtone. But my iPhone in iTunes shows all four... But the phone shows only one...?

Paul--you are a life-saver!! Worked great. I did have to look around to make sure I was getting 4.9 instead of 4.7 (even when the file was named 4.9 at techspot.com), but I finally got the right file, did the install as you suggested, and everything is now fine. One note, though, that I haven't seen mentioned in any of this thread: when I first tried to open up iTunes after getting back to 4.9, the following message appeared: "The file iTunes Library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes." I merely went to the old .itl file that was created when I did the update to iTunes 5, renamed it, moved it over to my now new 4.9, and iTunes opened fine. My library was a few days out of date, because of the few days' lag from the time I did the iTunes update, but that was easily taken care of, and everything's now working fine. Thanks again!!!

Yes, the file extension is M4R.  Does it matter where I save these files on my Macbook?  I then opened them in Itunes and played them.  I did find the Tones folder in Itunes but the Tones or Ringtones tab does not show up when I select Iphone (within Itunes).  When I open the Tones folder in the Library, it is empty.  Thanks in advance for your help.
