Custom settings of Edit-in Preset not applied to image in PS

I am having a problem with my custom made EDIT-IN Preset. While clicking on it launches the image (dng, psd or tiff) in PS, the custom settings of the preset (in my case: 8bit, sRGB) are not applied to the image. Instead the image is opened in PS with the default settings as specified in the Preference menu (in my case: 16bit, ProPhoto RGB).
I am running LR2.2 & PS CS3 (10.0.1) on a 64bit Windows Vista Business machine.
The settings of the preset are:
Application: Photoshop.exe
File Format: TIFF
Color Space: sRGB
Bit Depth: 8 Bits
Resolution: 240
Compression: None
By the way, this problem occurs also on my 32bit XP-Pro Computer.
Any helpful suggestions?
Mike

Hi,
I think you are running same problem as described in the following article:

  • Import - user preset not applied 'fully'

    This is update of problem reported in previous entry 'duplicate imports'.  Have now tracked the cause of this observation.
    The problem dates back to at least Lightroom 3.
    I use different import presets for my set of cameras so that the file name reflects the camera.
    I also have pairs of presets where the only difference is that a duplicate backup is created or not.
    On my PC the default path for backup files has the drive letter of my card reader.
    What I notice is that if I select the 'backup' preset then change my mind and select the 'non-backup' preset the flag enabling the creation of a backup copy remains selected.  On then proceeding with the import a backup copy is made on the card using the default path.
    This is not normally a problem as I then re-format the card in the camera, but it could be a problem if the card is nearly full as the backup copy process will fail due to lack of space on the card.
    This became apparent because I initially imported files into my LR3 catalogue and thus unknowingly created duplicates on the card.
    Then on importing into my LR4_beta catalogue two copies of each file appeared, the original in the location set by the camera and the duplicate/backup created by LR3.  The import dialog does not show paths on cards so it is not apparent that the duplicate files are in different folders.
    This looks like a bug in the handling of presets, that some settings, in this case the flag to enable backup file creation, are not updated on selecting the preset.
    The pairs of preset names are similar eg c41_backup and c41_nobackup.
    For the softies benefit I also note that if I select the 'non backup' preset for a different camera the flag does get cleared, suggesting the bug is something to do with recognising a change of pre-set.
    I have not checked but this may be the cause of other mysterious import issues.

    Do you have "Apply Auto Tone adjustments" checked in the Preferences>Presets tab? If yes, uncheck it. If not:
    Take one image into the Develop module, press and hold the Shift key and the "Reset" button bottom-right will change to "Reset (Adobe)", then click on that button. Does the image reset to the way you expected it? If so, you've (inadvertently) changed the default develop settings, to reset them go to Develop menu>Set Default Settings>click on "Restore Adobe Default Settings".

  • Batch not applying ACR image settings

    I am aware this has been posted, but all related posts are filled with too much ancient ambiguity so I was hoping to create a simple thread with a simple answer.
    Have 30 photos (JPG)
    Open them in camera raw from Bridge (CRTL-R), edit them accordingly, applying different crops, saturation, exposures
    Click done
    Then start a new recording in photoshop
    Select one image I edited, open in camera raw (Yes Image Settings is checked)
    Open that image (Oh hey look at my recording, it is recording all of my specific edited values for this image, not good but I'll continue)
    Resize
    Save
    Close
    So as many posts have asked before...why, when I run this batch, do all of my image settings follow the first, why can't they follow their respective raw image settings?
    Extra info:
    CHECKED:
    Override Open
    Override Save as
    Sad thing is I'm pretty sure I did this before after tinkering for a while, but can't remember what magic switch I flipped. Thanks in advanced.

    Perfect, thanks Jeff
    Here's the simple solution to prevent frustration...STAY AWAY FROM BRIDGE
    I will repost what I did as compared to before and bold the changes

  • Custom Word 2010 Normal.dotm file not applying

    I have replaced the Normal.dotm file with a file with out letterhead information on it. On some computers its not applying though. I saved the letterhead file as Normal.dotm and have replaced the Normal.dotm file on their computer but when they open Word
    it still opens a blank document. If I replace it on my computer it loads the letterhead file and the same with other users. Its just a select few that ignore the new Normal.dotm file.
    I can prove that the file has the letterhead text by renaming the file on their computer and then opening it. When I do this it opens with the letterhead text.
    Free computer help and tips http://www.onlinecomputertips.com

    A part of the problem you are seeing is that Word creates its own normal.dotm file when it can't find one where it is supposed to look.
    Here is a link to the Microsoft take on sharing the normal template.
    You Cannot Share the Normal.dot[m] File Among Multiple Users This is an older article but nothing it says has changed. That is how Word works. When I first was setting up a
    LAN using Word, I tried sharing the normal template as well. It is intuitive to do so; but it does not work. The more users you have the more problems it can cause. It is likely that you have had problems with sharing normal.dotm but not recognized that the
    problems were caused by that.
    The normal template is intended to be a personal workspace/resource and should not be overwritten from a main source. It should be stored in the user templates folder (which also should not be a shared folder). You certainly can create a customized normal.dotm
    template and distribute it as a starting point but there is little reason to do so.
    Overwriting someone else's normal.dotm template is a bit like opening the drawers in their desk and rearranging them, tossing out items if you don't know their purpose. I learned long ago to not be going through my secretary's drawers!
    If you want to standardize your documents you can do that with a combination of
    Workgroup Templates and
    Global Templates. Global templates will let you share custom building blocks, macros, ribbon and QAT modifications. You can even use them to share styles although usually that is better
    done through document templates.
    It is quite possible to have a different template than the normal template be the basis for the blank document you see when you start Word or for when you use Ctrl+N. There are examples of this on my downloads page.

  • Presets not applying in LR4.

    So I experienced a weird anomoly in LR4 the other day, when I try to apply a preset to a NON raw file, i.e (JPG, PSD, TIFF) the preset in develop mode would not apply.  In the preview winddow as I hover over different preset it would show me a preview, but when I go to click on it, nothing would happen.  Strangely enough when I goto Library mode, it would apply!  When I go back to Develop mode it would revert back to normal and unapply.  I have to switch back and forth from library to develop mode for it to show the preset apply.
    Well I found the issue this morning, but I'm not sure as to what I should do.
    I opened the console this morning and when the issue occured I got this.
    3/1/13 8:51:11.084 AM WindowServer[84]: CGXDisableUpdate: UI updates were forcibly disabled by application "Lightroom" for over 1.00 seconds. Server has re-enabled them.
    3/1/13 8:51:12.592 AM WindowServer[84]: reenable_update_for_connection: UI updates were finally reenabled by application "Lightroom" after 2.51 seconds (server forcibly re-enabled them after 1.00 seconds)
    Seems like Lightroom disabled the UI?  and WindowServer re enabled it?
    Basically after 3 sec or so the preset would apply.
    Any ideas?

    So I've been around the block a bit using sysprep and wds.  Recently I've created a reference image with a virtualbox environment using windows 7 x64. I was succesfully able to create a reference image, sysprep it and capture it to the wds server. My

    The machine succesfully syspreps and shuts down. I restart the computer pxe boot and capture the image succesfully.
    Now here comes my problem...
    Upon deploying the above driver specific image.. my sysprep file is not applied.  Nothing from the OOBE wizard answers to the pc logo , or first logon commands are applied ... nothing.. I have gotten no errors during this whole process.  I have
    started to try to read the logs within the panther folder but havent gotten far.
    What is weird to me is that I have tried recreating this image... deploy the reference image... add drivers ... sysprep ...shutdown.  And if I boot normally (without capturing the image) the computer shows all of the sysprep changes..  Only when
    i capture the image does it not apply the changes....
    I'm stumped...
    Any ides?

    Confirm this scenario: You installed Windows, then ran sysprep and used the /unattend switch. Then you captured the image.
    In this scenario there are 2 deployment methods.
    1. If you deploy the image with DISM, the answer file generated by sysprep is detected on first boot and settings are applied. It is the same function as if you ran sysprep and chose to restart.
    2. If you deploy the image using Setup.exe, it does not use the answer file specified by sysprep prior to capturing. I have not looked into *why* this happens, but I suspect that after the image is applied, it replaces the unattend.xml with the generic one.
    If you are using Setup.exe, you need to use its /unattend switch and point to the answer file location. This location cannot be inside of the image. If you are not using setup.exe in a manual method (using WDS) you will need to apply the answer file to the
    install image in the WDS snap-in.

  • Presets - only applying to images as they are seen in library pane

    I have lightroom version 1.2
    Mac user 10.4.11 2.1 ghz processor
    When I apply one of my presets to a large number of images (as in more than you can see at any one time in library pane) I notice it will only apply the preset to the images that I can see in the library pane.
    As in if I scroll done to view images not already see on the library pane it then appears to start processing those images.
    It is definitely doing this and not updating a preset that has already been applied. Why would it only apply preset to images as they are viewed in library pane.
    Eventually of course the preset is applied to all images and once done it is done, but a bit of a nuisance as I need to babysit it.
    Cannot think of a preference that would change this..
    Any ideas?
    Regards
    Larry

    Ah yes I see if you go into library>previews>render standard previews as soon as you run your preset it will do it all for you.
    Thanks

  • Could not apply background image to the panel group layout in spaces application

    I tried to apply background image to the panel group layout with css class and also with inline style such as below
    background-image:url('/content/conn/intra-dot-content/path/mywebcenter/lever/backgroundmain.jpg');background-position:center; background-repeat:repeat-y;
    The background image does not show up. but it work with panel border layout. Is there any work around for the issue

    You can try styleclass, which is always better choice than inlinestyle
    page:
    <af:panelGroupLayout id="pgl30"
                                       styleClass="testPGbackground">
                    <af:outputText value="outputText5" id="ot8"/>
                  </af:panelGroupLayout>
    css:
    .testPGbackground {
        background-image:url('/images/unselectedTabStart.png');
    It works for me.
    I tried with inline style also and it worked.
    bac
    <af:panelGroupLayout id="pgl30"
                                       inlineStyle="background-image: url(/incview/images/unselectedTabStart.png);">
                    <af:outputText value="outputText5" id="ot8"/>
                  </af:panelGroupLayout>
    NOTE: You need to mention image url with context-name here, which could be a way of hard coding context name and in future it could be very difficult to change contextname. As recommended styleclass is better solution.
    Thanks

    I am able to click on a pic in iphoto to edit it and opens automatically in photoshop CS6. However when I am done editing and save I can not save back into Iphoto.  Can any one help wiht this?

    Thanks Terence. What a relief. I still don't understand what the book I read was talking about then. Here's a quote from the section I was referring to in "iPhoto 08: The Missing Manual" book, p 91 (ISBN: 0596-516185):
    "Note, however, that the instant you edit a TIFF-format photo (Chapter 7), iPhoto converts it into JPEG.
    That's fine if you plan to order prints or a photo book (Chapter 11) from iPhoto, since JPEG files are required for those purposes. But if you took that once-in-a-lifetime, priceless shot as a TIFF file, don't do any editing in iPhoto-don't even rotate it- if you hope to maintain its perfect, pristine quality."
    After my test results, I thought maybe this was something that had changed from iPhoto 08 to iPhoto 09, so I went to the bookstore yesterday and checked the same book for iPhoto 09, and there it was, the same quote! (on a different page, of course).
    Anyway, thanks once again for your confirmation that my test was indeed correct. Linda

  • Windows 7 x64 SP1 updates not applied to image

    I am having a very strange issue. After working correctly for over a year, my build and capture Windows 7 x 64 SP1 task sequence is not working.  The first part of the problem is that the image will not capture on a SCVMM 2012 R2 cluster. That problem
    has been mentioned in a different post and I have a call into MS.
    The second issue is strange. I used my normal install.wim that had updates injected into it via SCCM offline updates.  When I built the computer, it showed all updates as being needed including SP1.  This same install.wim had worked perfectly
    prior 9/15/14.  I then did a build using just the install.wim that came with the Windows 7 SP1 iso, I had the same problem.  When I go into the computer properties, it shows Windows 7 Service Pack 1 as the OS.  However, if I go to Windows Updates,
    it shows that SP1 is needed.  I apply the update it takes about 3 minutes and it is installed.
    Has anyone experienced this issue?  The only major changes in the environment was moving the build and capture machine to a SCVMM 2012 R2 infrastructure that is built on Windows 2012 R2 OS.  Prior to that we were using SCVMM 2008 R2 on Windows
    2008 R2 OS.

    If "Never Remember History" is displayed then that means that you are in Private Browsing mode and that all other history settings have the default value.

  • ALV Edit Mask isn't applied when exporting as "Spread Sheet".

    Hi all,
    One of our program has "Edit Mask" as XXXXX____ for displaying data in ALV (Mask first 5 numbers as X, display last 4 numbers as it is).  However, when data is exported as "Spread Sheet", the edit mask is not applied.  Does anyone know how to force edit mask when data is exported as SpreadSheet (MHTML)?  If you export as "local File" and then do "SpreadSheet", the edit mask works.. it is just when the direct "SpreadSheet" done, it doesn't work.
    (i.e. CL_GUI_ALV_GRID->EXPORT_TO_SPREAD_SHEET doesn't apply EDIT Masks set in Field Catalog.)
    Here is more technical info.  We are on ECC 6.
    Field Catalog is of type LVC_T_FCAT.
    for a specific field, "EDIT_MASK" is set to XXXXX____.
    The ALV is called using
    My_ALV_CLASS->SET_TABLE_FOR_FIRST_DISPLAY
    exporting
    is_layout = My_layout
    is_toolbar_excluding = my_toolbar_exclude
    changing
    it_outtab = My_data_table
    it_fieldcatalog = MY_FIELD_CATALOG_DEFINATION_WHERE_EDIT_MASK_IS_SET
    exceptions...
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello,
    This is first time I am giving an answer.
    Instead of using a function module to merge the field catalog, try doing it one by one.
    for example,
    pt_fieldcat-col_pos = 01.
    pt_fieldcat-fieldname = 'KUNNR'.
    APPEND pt_fieldcat.
    pt_fieldcat-col_pos = 02.
    pt_fieldcat-fieldname = 'IP'.
    pt_fieldcat-edit = 'X'.
    pt_fieldcat-edit_mask = '-.-.-.-'.
    APPEND pt_fieldcat.
    and use the structure Z_IPADDR in method parameters instead of a function.
    CALL METHOD go_grid_ip->set_table_for_first_display
    EXPORTING
         i_structure_name = 'Z_IPADDR'
         it_toolbar_excluding = lt_exclude
         is_layout = ls_layout
    CHANGING
         it_fieldcatalog = pt_fieldcat
         it_outtab = p_t_auth_ip.
    CALL METHOD go_grid_ip->set_ready_for_input
    EXPORTING
    i_ready_for_input = 1.
    and also you can use following function module to check if the edited value is still in ALV or not
    CALL METHOD grid->check_changed_data
        IMPORTING
          e_valid = l_valid.
      IF l_valid IS NOT INITIAL.
    then the edited data in alv is successfully changed in internal table behind that.
    Debugging may find you an answer.
    Kind Regards,
    Manisha

  • Lightroom not loading custom settings and imported presets when launched

    So I read an article about deleting windows temp files and I did so with the intention of bring my computer back up to speed.
    The recycle bin has since been emptied.
    When I launch Lightroom in Windows XP my previously imported presets as well as a couple other custom settings (ID plate) don't show up. I have to re-import them everytime I launch Lightroom unless I'm opening a previous cataloge.

    5 - when done or done for the day on my edits - I back up my LR 5 library and close LR 5
    6 - To start editing again - I open my LR 5 with the same library I closed the day before and here is where the hiccup comes in.
    Files are always in the same location & file names that I named them when I did the initial import to my computer and external hard drive.  I have Windows 8 OS.
    No, there were not "!" on any of the images.

  • Preset is applied in import that i did not specify

    I have imported my photos into lightroom for the 3rd time and each time, there says none in preset on import and then in library it shows custom in settings and WB. I have not applied any, if I have I have done it on accident, i have tried and tried to change it but is not working. It will not let me change both settings in the Library tabs only one or the other. I have tried reset and that doesn't work. I have shut down and restarted and and I have deleted and imported. I'm no lightroom genius but I have at least tried to fix it with common sense, now I ask here. it must be a reset as it sharpens and changes all sorts of settings and its making me quite frusterated.

  • How can i view and apply new custom patterns without going to preset manager? i had this facility but have now lost it

    how can i view and apply new custom patterns without going to preset manager? i had this facility but have now lost it.  i design patterns but am fairly new to photoshop. i used to be able to click on the drop down menu in patterns in the 'fill' box but cannot now do this.  have i inadvertently clicked on something to turn this facility off?  i now have to go to 'preset manager' and manually move my new design to the first box and click 'done' so that i can use it.

    Which version of photoshop are you using?
    After you define a custom pattern it should be added to the bottom of whatever patterns are already loaded.
    For example, if you define a custom pattern and then go to Edit>Fill>Pattern, the newly defined pattern should have been added to the existing loaded patterns.
