Custom skin for FLVPlayback
Hi ..
I am trying to create a custom skin for the FLVPlayback componenet... I was wondering if someone could point me in a direction of a comprehensive tutorial..
Thanks a bunch!!
Hello,
I have been attempting to use this code with the FLVPlayback
component - when tested, the component and placeholder image both
load, but once the user hits the play button I get an error code:
ArgumentError: Error #2025: The supplied DisplayObject must
be a child of the caller.
at flash.display::DisplayObjectContainer/removeChild()
at video_fla::MainTimeline/removePF()
The video still plays, but the placeholder image doesn't get
removed.
This is the actionscript I'm using:
import fl.video.VideoEvent;
var pfContainer:MovieClip = new MovieClip();
myPlayer.addChildAt(pfContainer, 1);
var pf:Loader = new Loader();
pf.load(new URLRequest('slatepf.png'));
pfContainer.addChild(pf);
pfContainer.x = 0;
pfContainer.y = 0;
myPlayer.addEventListener(VideoEvent.PLAYING_STATE_ENTERED,
removePF);
function removePF(e:Event):void{
removeChild(pfContainer);
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Custom skin for accordion component
Hi,
I need to create an accordion component that looks like following image:
I tried this tutorial: http://blog.flexexamples.com/2009/06/21/creating-a-custom-halo-accordion-header-skin-in-fl ex-4/
I am able to create the background gradient with help of above tutorial.
I have 3 questions now:
How to style the header text?
How to add a link on the active header?
How to add rounded corner for closed state of last heading only?
Any help on this is appreciated.

Skin for an x220 - Fathead does not have a custom skin
I bought a skin when I ordered my x220, but I now see that fathead does not have a custom skin for this model. Is there another Thinkpad with the same dimensions. Any thoughts on what to do?
The Fathead website now has the X220 up ..
But does anyone have any experience with these stickers? Do they fit the x220 well, with regard to the Lenovo/Thinkpad bezels? Thanks for any feedback on this. -
Can you call a public method in a custom skin?
I made a custom skin for a button. In the skin there's a method to change some text. Can I call this method from my application?
I get an error message when I try to call it like a normal object:
uploadNewBtn.setNewPhotosLabel("test");
Error 1061: Call to a possibly undefined method setNewPhotosLabel through a reference with static type spark.components:Button.You said it yourself, the method is inside skin not the HostComponent (button in your case). Obviously you cannot call it.
There is a skin protperty inside SkinnableComponent, but it is typed as UIComponent so you still cannot cal it on the skin without casting. I don't know your use case, so in theory you either push the text/label from the host towards the skin, or you listen or bind from the skin on the hostcomponent.

SPACES custom skin CSS Class reference ? which css styles do what?
I am creating a custom skin for spaces using the Extend Spaces custom project. I am not able to find which css class names are mapped to which elements of a page in spaces. Inspecting the code does not help since the css class names seem to be autogenerated names and don't really match any names in the example "myskin" or any others I have seen.
Does anyone know of a reference that shows which classes correspond to which elements in spaces?http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/htdocs/partners/addins/exchange/jsf/doc/skin-selectors.html
This is an overview of the selectors used in ADF. I think webcenter spaces only uses these. You should be able to skin your webspace using these selectors. -

I would at least expect to see the line 134 printed out. I call this spinner from a simple test application, without any event listeners added there.
Has anyone an idea what might happen here?Hello, you don't register an event handler, you register a listener on the event handler property. So you don't listen for clicks, you listen for changing the registered click handler. You need to register the handler like this:
imgViewDown.setOnMouseReleased(new EventHandler<MouseEvent>() {
@Override public void handle(MouseEvent event) {
// your handler
This way you set the mouse release event handler which will be called on click. This code, by the way, would fire your listeners (the onMouseReleased property has changed). -
Hello folks,
I am looking for best practices advice when (1) creating
custom components and (2) styling and skinning.
I already know how to skin a component part of the Flex
framework. I can make a class extending ProgrammaticSkin and have
my component skinned using CSS to link the component with the
reference to my custom class.
However what about those cases when you are completely
creating a component from scratch?
Imagine a "Freehand Drawing Canvas" component that allows the
user to draw on it and has some buttons to set color styles, line
styles, etc., or imagine a "Screen Flow Gallery" component that
displays visual objects in a fashion similar to Cover Flow in the
Mac.
In many components I am aware you may reuse other components
part of the Flex framework but I am trying to picture an scenario
where you would need to draw everything yourself because there just
isn't something to base it upon so you will end up drawing it from
scratch.
To learn how instead of building one of those components I
mentioned previously I decided to start with something simple that
would illustrate this like a LiteButton component that will behave
just like the Flex mx.controls.Button but will extend UIComponent
and be completely custom drawn.
The component will have a default look and will also be
style-able and skin-able. I will provide styles for users of the
component to modify and regarding skinning anyone can create a
custom ProgrammaticSkin adding its own drawing logic and link it to
the component via CSS with the ClassReference applied to the skin
selector.
So far so good and it's clear what I want to achieve. I
actually know how to do most of the stuff here but I have one
single problem.
Here is my question, where should I put my custom drawing
logic? If I do it in the updateDisplayList inside the class
extending UIComponent it works, however I thought that it would be
a better practice to do it using programmatic skins, that way I
could provide different skin themes for my component set.
The problem is that I can't make the programmatic work in
this scenario. I tried instantiating the custom programmatic skin
during the updateDisplayList of the LiteButton component and adding
it to my display object via addChild but that didn't do anything. I
also tried creating a "default.css" stylesheet and tried to use
ClassReference as I would normally do to skin an already existing
component (or composite component as well) but that didn't do
anything either.
So how do I apply programmatic skins for completely custom
drawn components of my Flex library project?
I could do it inside the updateDisplayList of the LiteButton
class extending UIComponent but again I would like to provide
different theme sets for my components so it makes sense using
programmatic skins."jbucaran" <[email protected]> wrote in

These aren't mutually exclusive. When you provide a skin with
a
TypeSelector, you have to add it to the display list
somewhere, and this is
typically done in updateDisplayList or addChildren. I prefer
to do it in
updateDisplayList, because you can then change it if the
style changes.

Exactly what did you do?

I've never had any problem using an approach similar to
this...but I will
say that I couldn't see any advantage in creating a
default.css style sheet,
since it's not really default in the way that the one that
comes with Flex
is. It's much more obvious to anyone using your component
what's going on
there if you create a style sheet where they're likely to
spot it.

It seems like your approach is fine, but maybe you've made a
mistake in your
implementation.

You might want to consider also adding an instance of
HaloBorder to your
component. That brings a lot of functionality with it.

Using a custom video player (skin) for Event Videos?
Hi
I'd like use something other than the 9 standard video skins that come with Captivate 6 (Halo, Clear and Corona). Is it possible to use a custom video player or at least a different skin for an Event video? And, if so, does anyone know where I could find a collection of custom skins (free or otherwise)?
Thanks
PaulWell sure enough, that WPF MediaKit indeed uses D3DImage for the WPF interop. In fact he does things very similar to me except mostly he seems to use DirectShow whereas I'm 100% Media Foundation. Maybe should rethink that... If only DirectShow had H264
support in Windows 8. Stupid licensing issues. Anyway thanks again for that link. -

Customized Skins in Non-English Projects
I have a customized skin that when used non-English projects,
it omits special characters in the buttons for Contents and Index.
I didn't create the skin so I don't have Flash. Any suggestions on
how to fix the buttons to display the missing characters?If she's no longer with the company and she was using Flash,
could it by chance be a company license for Flash that you could
take over...?
Rick referred to the LNG file, which exists in both the
source files and the output files. Do the copying and pasting with
the source versions. (The output version will be overwritten from
the source version every time.)
If Rick's suggestion doesn't work, the only other thing I can
think of would be to check the .fla files themselves in Flash. The
person who tweaked the files may have done something to the dynamic
text fields for the button labels. If you can get a copy of Flash,
you could check two things on the button label text field
(double-click the Label object twice to get to this point):
1. See if "Use device fonts" is selected in a dropdown on the
left side of the Properties panel. This selection won't let you
embed fonts. If it's selected, try #2 below instead. If it isn't,
select it, export the movie, and put it in your output files.
2. Change "Use device fonts" to "Anti-alias for animation."
Click the Embed button. Select every option with Latin in it, and
click OK. Export to a movie, and put it in your output files.
Note that you'd have to do this for each button that isn't
displaying the characters properly.
Hope this helps,

Hi,
The default messages displayed is getting displayed when a report returns no data in OBIEE 11g. I am aware of that, we can overide the default message with our Custom message at "Analysis" level. but it is very painful to do.
I am looking for a file where we can override the default messages with our custom message at one place.
Also, I have gone through the below link for this but it has change at the language level. I tried to change it at language "l_en" level but it did not work.
can anyone suggest for 11g?

Using a custom message should also work in 11g. Refer to this link for setting up custom messages in 11g.
