Custom stacked chart (3 dimensional data)

Hi,
I'm in need of a custom stacked chart.
i've created an illustration of my needs [here|http://www.picamatic.com/show/2011/07/04/04/45/7669409_402x446.jpg] (see attached picture)
my need is to illustrate a tool's status over time.
there are 3 available statuses of a tool and they span across months.
a minimum period is one month, but it can span over 2 months or more.
is this kind of graph available in any tool offered by SAP?

Xcelsius does not offer this kind of stacked column.
please note, that im not referring to a normal stacked column which only allows a pre-defined series.
my stacked columns are supposed to be repeating themselves throughout the column depending on data.

It looks like the APEX charting tool wants a different series for each different user, which is not realistic. Can I do this in APEX 4.1?

Yes you can..so you want to group your data and also create a PIVOT table out of the data. If you are going to be having different users be added and removed from the database you will have to create a function that will make the function that will make the chart.

Custom "stacks" icons in date added view/sort

i've found various workarounds for custom stacks icons that sort by name, date creation, date modified. the only one that i couldn't resolve was the "date added" which is what is most useful for the downloads folder.
i had automator "record" my actions of opening the downloads folder, deleting a "downloads folder icon" that i had placed in there earlier, and then undoing the deletion. this made the "downloads folder icon" the most newly added. and then i saved it as a folder action attached to my downloads folder.
sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't and it hijacks the mouse control for the second or two that it's running.
but would any genius that knows applescript better than i know of a way to do this as an applescript. it probably wouldn't be as "sloppy" as a recorded automator workflow and wouldn't hijack the mouse control.

I am currently using Crystal Xcelsius 4.5 and am striving to create a hybrid chart. In excel i have customized my chart to incorporate a stacked area chart, a stacked column chart and a couple of line charts thrown into the mix.
I am perplexed when trying to accomplish the same task in Xcelsius, can not find anything that will allow you to custom build your own graphs.
Does any one have a solution?

I meant have one criteria (one query).
so you'd select :
week of year,
count(Fixed Bugs),
count(reported bugs)
in the same criteria, then select both measures on the 'line' and the week of year on the x axis of the graph?
Any reason why you cant build them into one criteria?
BTW are you measures defined the RPD or are you creating them in Answers on the fly using count() function?

Apex 3.1 and Custom Flash Charts

I am having difficulty getting to the point where my custom flash charts can be displayed. I have Oracle 10.2, over OHS to Apex 3.1. I cannot post any of the config files or code here because it is a different network, so I realize it will be hard to troubleshoot; and I apologize in advance.
I would use the canned Flash charts, but my application displays data much like MS Outlook's multi-user calendar does. The chart has to be color coded, similar to Outlook's Busy vs Tentative etc. It has to show multiple events at various times, including overlapping times. And it has to handle schedules for multiple people. Lastly, there are of course gaps in the schedule, because no day is comprised entirely of meetings. That is why I felt I had to do it manually.
I wrote XML/SVG code to do this previously, with HTML DB 1.5, and it worked fine. But Flash is the way we are going now, and I can't use SVG anymore. (Besides, Adobe says SVG will no longer be supported next year.)
I followed the thread of April 07 in which MAdelfio posted suggestions, but I can't get it right. I did everything listed except I never included the <data>...</data> code, because I am not sure where it goes. I have a custom written stored proc, exactly like in the thread, and I pass it all the args that apex_util.flash wants. I get a malformed XML message when I try to display the chart. That seems like it should be a very straight forward error, but I can't figure out where to look. I have been using 1.5 for about a year, and last month upgraded to 3.1.
Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this? Or, failing that, any simple examples that display Flash charts in which the code was generated by a stored procedure?

I'm sorry about not being able to provide all the info you need. Since it is on a totally separate network, with no access to the outside world, the only way I can do it is to print and retype everything. So I was hoping that someone could just provide suggestions as to where to look rather than providing answers. I understand that it is impossible for you to solve my problems, especially when you have been given no real information. And I don't want to keep you guessing -- I'd love to be able to just show everything and ask for help; I just can't.
Anyway, I am trying to use only those facilities provided with Apex. I do not have any 3rd party tools except for Perl. I am using the standard shockwave flash plugin for Mozilla. The way I did it with SVG was to create a stored procedure that generated an XML file. I put a button on the page that ran the stored proc and then redisplayed the page, with an HTML region. That region included an iframe, where the source was a perl script that merely regurgitated the SVG script (for some reason I could not get the iframe to accept XML as a source, so I created send_svg.pl, which merely outputted the named SVG file).
The format I followed was in this thread: Re: Custom Flash Charts
I even created a replacement proc for APEX_UTIL.FLASH with the exact output as the thread, knowing that even if it worked I'd still have a ton of work making it produce my chart. But once I can get the infrastructure right, I feel I can write the flash XML.
Maybe the easiest thing is to scan that thread I referenced and tell me if it is still accurate? That is, could anything have changed in 3.0.1, or should it still work? It is possible, maybe even likely, that I made a mistake retyping all that stuff, so maybe just verifying that it SHOULD work is a good start.

Problem in Stacked chart Reports

Hi,
I was trying to create a report of Stacked Chart type. I was able to create it successfully But I still face these problems.
1. When I group the data based on an attribute of type Date, The date format appears (at the bottom of Stacks) like 2009,Jan,Day20 (if the date is 20th jan2009).I have tried to change the value format of date in the Value format Tab. But What ever is the format I choose, the date still gets displayed as 2009,Jan,day20. Please advise..
2. The second Issue is that when ever there are no records for a stack I can see the value displayed as 0.0. This really does not seem good on the report. Please let me know the steps to be followed to avoid this problem.

I am facing a problem in printing Crystal Reports in Windows Forms app. Normal application flow is working like charm but I want to handle the situation when printer is not available or is not ready for printing. I was looking for WMI but I am facing problem

here, that my printer always return Status 3 or State 0 (idle). Now Now I am looking for exceptions of PrinttoPrinter method of Crystal Reports but yet no luck. Any idea will be appreciated.

For issues concerning third party products you should contact the vendor of the product for support. Which would be
SAP for Crystal Reports.
Also you say WMI apparently says your printer is idle. I don't know if that means your printer is available or not.
Can other programs print to that printer? If so then it is available. If Crystal Reports can not print to it even though it is available then SAP would be the place to try to get an answer.

Width of stack chart not getting retained in Flex 4 but working in Flex3

I have a stack chart on my dashboard when I click on stack chart it become a column chart. When I trying to come back on stack chart by clicking on column chart the width of columns of stack chart does not match with the previous stack chart.
Note: The same code is working fine in flex 3 version.
How can I maintain the same width in both stack charts in flex 4 as it is performing in flex3?
Step 1 Monthly stack chart.
Initially when I click on the equipment break down checkbox the stack chart appears as shown in the below screen shot.
Step 2: Monthly chart: Then when I click on the above “Monthly stack chart”, then I resume to my original bar chart appearance as shown in the below screenshot.
Step 3: Monthly stack chart: Further when I click on the above “Monthly chart” bar chart and move back to the “monthly stack chart” it appears as in the below screen shot in flex 4. The width of the chart in step 3 does not match with the width in step 1 of “Monthly Stack Chart”.
Note: In flex 3 the same step 3 appears to be as shown in the below screenshot.
How can I maintain the same width in step 1 and step 3 charts in flex 4 as it is performing in flex3?

I am using the Adobe flash builder 4 and the Adobe flash player 10. To upgrade from flex 3 to flex 4 I just opened the project in flex 4.I am using the default skins/themes of Adobe flash builder 4.
But it is not working as flex 3. Please suggest some other option.

Plotting multiple graphs on one waveform chart with dynamic data types

I'm trying to put multiple graphs on one waveform chart and having data agreement errors. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the fact that dynamic data is being used (I've had no problems with other datatypes in the past). Does anyone know how to correct this problem? I've attached the following .VI. There will be plenty of .VIs on the bottom that won't load, but they are not consequential for this problem.

you could use stacked plots by right clicking on the chart and clicking on the stacked plots and than on the front panek you can put a bundle function on the FP and hook your signals up

Custom sorting chart legend

I've got a vertical bar (stacked) chart. I also want to change the order in the graph. Now it shows in 1 bar in this order:
basic
season basic
season fashionIf you want to change the order then you need to change the order in criteria tab itself.
And want to give a value a fixed colour. E.g. Basic should be red and Season Basic Green etc.You can do this by clicking on fifth icon from left in chart properties(Format chart data).Uncheck use default checkbox and pick colour accordingly.

Legends in stacked chart

Only the values in the first vertical column in the stacked chart blocks is displayed in the Legend.
For EX:
Totally i have 5 items in the stacked chart blocks.
My chart has 2 items in first vertical column in the stacked chart,
3 Items in the second vertical column and
all 5 items in the third vertical column.
Now only 2 items displayed in the legend values, rest 3 items in 2 nad 3rd column of the chart is not displayed.
Could any only please help on this ???

Hi Anshul,
You can display either data value or data label in a stacked column chart by checking the Data Label Displaying Mode option under Format Chart->Data Values.
You can also do the same by checking the same option under Format chart->Area Display->Data Values.
I dont think you would be able to display both in a column chart whereas you would be able to do it in a pie chart.

Keeping your charts up to date

I have a bookmark to http://culverson.com/keeping-your-charts-up-to-date/ this article explaines how to put a time stamp on the X axis of charts.
My company has installed a Barracuda web filter system and Barracuda blocks access to Culverson.com saying it has somthing to do with proxies. I am not sure what that means, but I do know I will get in big trouble trying to access this now since it is on the Barracuda black list.
Does anyone have a link to a simmilar explanation of how to put a timestamp on the X axis of a chart?

Relying on charts to plot a timestamp is inherently flawed. In my opinion, charts altogether are inherently flawed, except for "quick and dirty" troubleshooting, or where the time component of the measured signal is irrelevant (uncommon). With Charts, each subsequent point is assumed equally spaced, which may be a decent assumption for short periods of time with a deterministic data acquisition.
Instead, use XY Graphs, which allow for arbitrary point spacing in both X and Y directions. This means that over time, error in time measurement does not stack up, but instead always properly represents the absolute time and relative spacing between points.
To show the X axis as a timestamp, right click the XY graph to access the properties of that graph. Go to a tab that says something like "Scales" (I don't have LabVIEW in front of me) and then choose the X-axis scale from the Listbox. Here, you can set the Display Format of the numeric to be shown as an Absolute Time, and you can customize how this time is displayed.
I'm a bit surprised anyone would condone using a Timestamp on a Graph, and I would not recommend this practice when timing is relevant.

Vertical Stacked chart

I am new to the business objects world. I have created a vertical stacked chart. I now need to sort the vertical stacks in a certain format (the one with the highest total in the graph need to be at the top). I am not being able to get to this. I can do this easily in Excel using a pivot table. Another issue I am having is that when the Y-axis values has no entries then I need an empty column displayed. Currently my X-axis has weeks and Y-axis has errors for the week. I am interested in displaying all the weeks (whether they have errors or no errors), by default it displays only weeks that have errors. Any help in this will be appreciated- Thanks.

I believe you are going to have to edit the XML, scroll to the bottom of the Chart Attributes page and select Yes for "Use Custom XML", then you will have to change the chart area x/y/width/height. (you can do the same for the legend as well)

Want to create Monthly chart with weekly data.

Hi all. I'd like to create a chart that graphs data over the course of a month similar to this:
but where the data for the chart is only gathered once a week. I know from reading in the forums (and trying myself) that if you have missing data fields in your table, you end up with individual points that aren't connected to each other. So I assume that the solution has something to do with how the chart is labeled?
Can someone clue me in on how to build a chart that shows each day (as above), but connects weekly data fields (as below):

It looks like what you're describing is what I've already managed to figure out. The problem I'm having is that I want the bottom row of numbers (currently 3, 10, 17, 24) to be the days of an entire month (ie: March 1-31). Then have the values in the chart correspond to the proper day (3, 10, 17, 24).
Here's what happens if I create a table with all the days of the month, but only weekly fields filled in:
I realize that Numbers doesn't automatically connect the dots when there are empty fields in a table. But I can't seem to get to a point where I can have the graph show the entire month, but with a line connecting each of the weekly values.
I thought that I could do it by creating a custom label for the X axis. Here's what I tried:
But of course that didn't work, because the chart still only shows 4 labels (due to the table only having 4 categories). It just renamed the first four labels.
