Custom storefron - black bar above navigation tollbar

Hi,
I'm developing adobe dps app to iPad and when I tap on icon of custom storefront loaded from zip file, black bar above navigation toolbar shows for 1 second maybe shorter. Is anyone had a similar situation during creation custom storefront?

We also see this, perhaps since v31 - probably due to changes in height of UIWebViews in the native app, there is an initial offset of the web view for a brief second the first time the view is constructed.
This happens on slots as well as dialog service screens.
It appears as follows:

  • Black bars above/below flv

Using Corel, I am coverting wmv's to flv's for import to Captivate 6. The videos play just fine but I have black bars above and below the video. I've tried changing the aspect ratio when converting the videos but I can't seem to get rid of the black bars.

    Hi there
Do they play with the letterboxing when played outside of Captivate? My guess is that they will.
Odds are that you will need to find a different way to convert them. Maybe even play them on your computer and use Captivate Video Demo to capture them as they play.
    Cheers... Rick

On my homepage, above the line with file, edit, view, etc., there is a thick black bar that won'e go away. I've tried re-starting, and to no avail! Please help!

Ive restarted it several times and it didnt help but just for good measure I tried it one more time just now and the problem totally went away, thanks man!

  • There is a black bar just above the tabs. Please help me what is it and how can I remove it..

    Hi Every One,
I Updated my Mozilla-Firefox to ver. 3.6, and after that I see a black bar above the tabs , and below the other toolbars.
Please help me how can I remove it, and what is it!
    Thanks...

Issues with a black (empty) toolbar can be caused by a plugin or an extension that is not compatible with Firefox 3.6 and isn't working properly anymore.
A toolbar like the "ZoneAlarm Spy Blocker Plugin Stub for 32-bit Windows" and other toolbars like "Ask.com" or "My Web Search" can cause this issue.
You can see the toolbars in View > Toolbars.<br />

  • Black Bars With 16/9 JPEG's and AVCHD in Video

I have Final Cut Express 4.0.1 and trying to use AVCHD video from my Sony NEX-5C camera along with JPEG pictures shot in 16/9 from the same camera. After importing everything I wound up with black bars above and belowin the viewer on everything and can't rid of them. I made a test video with one16/9 still picture and tried various settings before importing the picture, but still couldn't get rid of the bars. Also, I can't find a combination of exportsettings that eliminate the problem. I have tried exporting to a standard DVDusing Apple's "16:9 workflow for IDVD".
Any suggestions on how to make this work?

Thanks for prompt reply. I use FCE occasionally, so I am not 100% sure that I am answering your questions properly.
I checked the properties on one of the JPEG's and don't see "Format" listed. However, it is shown as 2390 x 1369 and the Pixel Aspect is "Square".
One of the video clips is shown as 1920 x 1080 @ 29.97fps. Pixel Aspect is "Square" and the Compressor is" Apple Intermediate Codec".
The Sequence shows 720 x 480 Frame Size @ 29.97fps; Compressor is DV/DVCPRO-NTSC and the Pixel Aspect is NTSC-CCIR 601.
The Sequence Aspect Ratio is wrong, but I don't know how to change it.
    Thanks,
    Brian
PS: I checked the Sequence Preset and it is now on Apple Intermediate Codec 1920 x 1080/60.

  • 16:9 editing (black bars)

I have a Final Cut project which I have assembled from .mov video clips. The clips are 16:9 (640x360), but when I render them they show up in the canvas with black bars above and below, even though I have the sequence settings set to 640x360. When I export I get a video in 2:1 aspect ratio with black bars.
What import/export & sequence settings ought I be using in order to work with 640x360 .mov files without getting any black bars? Is this possible?

Please take screenshots and show us the exact item properties of the clips you'r editing and the sequence in which you're editing.

  • COPY and PASTE POBLEM - BLACK BARS!

After successfully importing a MiniDV from my Canon digital video recorder I am encountering a weird problem. Everything works fine until I open Create A New Movie and drag a clip from the imported movie to the new movie. The clip then appears in what I assume is widescreen format with black bars above and below the clip. There are no black bars on the imported movie. I have checked preferences etc for a widescreen setting and I can't find anything.
    Why is this happening?
I am slightly bewildered and your help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.
    David.

    Update:
Sadly, even after updating to 8.2, the problem persists. Between this issue and the problem of Safari refreshing when you switch between tabs (resulting in anything in active Safari browser forms getting erased), using Safari has not been a good experience since upgrading to iOS 8. It was much better in the past.
If you are also having these problems, I urge you to report them to Apple:

  • Part of footage becomes black with red bar above it?

When I throw my footage into FCPX, before it finishes the background analyzing it is fine. But after, it makes part of my footage black with a red bar above the part that is black. Does anyone know what this is and how to fix it? Here is a picture of what the timeline looks like: http://cl.ly/image/2E1Z0t1y2L1x
    Thanks!

Select the clips in the browser, right-click and choose Transcode Media. There'll be an option to optimize.
You may also need to trash the thumbnails from the Render folder, but that won't effect the project.

  • Tool bar fonts & navigation menus are way too small. Ctrl + isn't permanent.

My screen is about 50cm. Mozilla's 3.6 navigation, toolbar and bookmark font is 9 point or less and it is very hard to read it. With such a big screen I need 10+ fonts. Crtl + ++ refers to one page at a time. I need the larger font all the time on the above mentioned places and including the drop down menu items. It is a struggle to see my customized bookmarks tool bar words and icons. They are too minimized. Fonts on web sites are not much of a problem. Writers there know their readers, and customers.

  • Remove Black Bars from Top and Bottom

    Here's my situation:
I shot my footage FULL FRAME (not anamorphic) but while shooting my footage I had markers on my LCD for a 2.35 Aspect Ratio.
Now that my footage is edited I dropped the FCP matte filter for 2.35
For those of you out there I know I did not use a anamorphic lens and I know I did not shoot it on 16:9 format. But is there a way to crop out the Black bars?
Again like the previous post I would like to remove the black bars and have my QUICKTIME MOV. play like the ones on APPLE's Trailer site: http://www.apple.com/trailers/
Can anyone out there explain how to do this? Other then just drop this and change the size...WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? If you can provide more step by step information that would be great!

    1. Create a New Sequence in FCP (Command-N)
    2. Bring up your Sequence Settings (Comman-Zero) and alter them...
2a. so that your Frame Size is (approx) 720x306
2b. set Aspect Ratio to Custom.
    3. Drop in your widescreen-filtered footage (they'll be shrunk, so...)
    4. Select your clip (or all clips) (Command-A)
    5. Remove Attributes (Option-Command-V) and select 'Basic Motion' then click OK.
    6. Your movie should now (pretty much) fill the 2.35:1 sequence.
You'll probably need to tweak the frame size slightly (It's been a while since I've done this so my number(s) might be off).
Also, when you (ultimately) Export Via QuickTime Conversion (for the web?), be sure to take into account that the web uses Square Pixels - so resize your QT movie (in the Save Dialog, under Options) to be 640x306. (Again, my exact numbers might be off)
    Good luck.

  • IMovie is outputting my movie with big black bars at top and bottom that I don't want

    Quicktime: Ver 10.3
    iMovie: Ver 10.0.5
    OS: OS X Ver 10.9.4
So, let me try and explain...
I have recorded gameplay footage of my game directly from my Mac screen using Quicktime's Record Screen option. I've tried recording both in fullscreen mode (with my game also running in fullscreen mode) and a section of the screen by dragging the mouse to select a 640X960 box (with my game running in windowed mode which is displayed at 640x960 resolution).
This initial recording direct from the screen displays fine, both when I view it in windowed mode and when I view it fullscreen, with the height of the game stretching to the full height of the video area but obviously with big black borders to either side in fullscreen mode (as it's basically iPhone ratio in portrait mode).
    WindowedFullscreen
This ^^^ is how they should look.
The problem is when I try to import the movie into iMovie, mess around with some fade-ins and music and stuff and then output the edited movie via iMovie...
When I then try to view this outputted movie in windowed mode on certain sites (Kickstarter) my game footage doesn't take up the full height of the video and instead floats in the middle with big black bars at the top and bottom, which I don't want. It's fine when I go fullscreen but the problem is that when I load this video into Kickstarter it shows the non-fullscreen view of the video with this big black border and it looks really amateur.
This is what Kickstarter shows in windowed mode i.e. the way you see Kickstarter videos by default when you press Play; unless I go fullscreen and then it takes up the full heigh of the view.
Note: Windowed mode actually looks fine when viewed directly on my Mac but I know it's not Kickstarter that is causing the issue because I can see in the thumbnail preview on my Mac that the video is somehow encoded with the big black bars at the top and bottom. Also, I uploaded the unedited videos to Kickstarter just to check and they display fine. So it's definitely iMovie that is adding these annoying black borders at the top and bottom for whatever reason (and I'm not intentionally scaling the video down in iMove or anything like that as far as I know). I also can't use the unedited footage however because it has no sound and no transitions etc.
Does anyone know what night be causing this and how to get rid of it.

You are lucky to see anything - iMovie 5 is not really compatible with Snow Leopard, which only supports iMovie 6 and above.
Snow Leopard only runs on Intel Macs. iMovie 5 was never written, AFAIK, for Intel, just for the PPC Macs they had in those old days!

  • Resolution, Aspect Ratio & Black Bars! How to stretch screen?

    Hi!
I have a HP HDX 9200 series laptop computer with an ATI 2600 HD XT and running latest Windows 7 Beta and I first noticed that my games didn't streched to full screen when they weren't using the native resolution on the LCD screen (1680*1050), so, let's say, when running one of them in 1024*768, I get two huge black bars at the side! Now, this didn't happen with previouses OSes (Vista). Then, I noticed that the same happened if I went to change the Windows resolution to 1024*768, I would get the same bars at the sides while being in Windows!
I tried downloading latest ATI W7 drivers to see if there was an option or something to stretch the image, but I couldn't find one.
Can you please let me know how to make the screen scale to the whole display, even if it isn't in the native resolution?
    Thanks in advance.

HERE'S THE SOLUTION TO THE ATI BLACK BARS PROBLEM
It took months for me to find this on the web, so I thought I would share it here, the first hit for 'ATI Black Bars windows 7' on Google.
    1) Open Catalyst Control Center
    2) Use the drop down box at the top to click on Desktops and Displays
    3) At the very bottom where your monitors are displayed, click on the little black arrow and click "Configure".  Note that if configure does not appear, you are clicking on the wrong black triangle (you must use the one in the very bottom section).
    4) This will bring up properties for that display.  Choose "Full Screen" or "Maintain aspect ratio", whatever your preference.  If you are getting black bars on all sides, you are likely on "Centered".
    5) IF THE OPTIONS ARE GREYED OUT, as they were when I first tried this, the workaround is to lower your display resolution before attempting the above.  Once you have changed the setting, you can return your display resolution back to whatever you like and the setting will remain as your display changes (movies, games, etc).
    Hope that helps!!
This DOES NOT WORK for DirectX9-based ATI graphics devices on Windows 7.  In fact, there is currently NO SOLUTION to this problem if you are using a DX9-based ATI graphics device on Windows 7.
ATI has refused to release any proper Windows 7 drivers for their DX9-based devices, so if you are running Windows 7 with such a device, then your only choice is to install the "legacy" Vista driver onto Windows 7.
If your computer is a laptop, this situation is made even more convoluted by the fact that ATI's driver packages refuse to install on laptops unless you use a third-party utility called "ATI Mobility Modder" to first modify ATI's driver package.   Apparently ATI wants you to get the driver from your laptop manufacturer, but since most laptop manufacturers have not bothered to release newer video drivers that really isn't a reasonable expectation on ATI's part.
There is a bug in ATI's "legacy" Vista drivers on Windows 7 which hides the scaling/stretching options that should be present.  Normally you would find these options under the "Notebook Panel Properties" node of the treeview in the Catalyst Control Center.  They show up there fine using the same driver on Vista on the same hardware, but they are mysteriously absent when using the same driver on the same hardware on Windows 7.
It looks increasingly unlikely that ATI will EVER update their "legacy" drivers for their DX9-based graphics devices.  It looks even more unlikely that they will ever develop proper Windws 7 drivers for these devices.  Instead they are focusing all their efforts on their newer DX10-based devices and drivers.
This leaves users of laptops with DX9-based ATI graphics in a particularly frustrating and stupid situation.  DirectX 9 graphics devices are perfectly adequate for running Windows 7, and therefore they should have proper Windows 7 drivers released for them by the manufacturer (ATI).  I shouldn't have to buy an entirely new laptop just so I can get a DX10-based video device just so I can get the stretching/scaling options in Windows 7.  If this were a desktop PC, I could just swap out the video card, but that's not an option on a laptop.
Therefore, it falls on Microsoft to either (1) put pressure on ATI to fix their broken "legacy" Vista DX9 drivers to add back the scaling/stretching options when running on Windows 7, or (2) add an OS-level user option (independent of drivers) that can be used to control the resolution scaling/stretching.
    My specific situation:
I have an HP Compaq 6910p laptop with the ATI Mobility Radeon X2300 graphics chipset (DX9-based).  I am running Windows 7 x64 RTM.  Neither ATI nor HP supply an official Windows 7 driver for this graphics chipset, and the driver supplied by Microsoft is bare-bones (no advanced options/settings like ATI's Catalyst Control Center offers).  So I installed the latest (9.11) ATI "legacy" Vista x64 CCC package (after using ATI Mobility Modder to modify it so it will actually install on the laptop).
I run a lot of classic video game emulators and older games that use old 4:3 resolution modes like 800x600 or 1024x768. When they switch into these modes, I get huge black borders around all edges of the screen (top/bottom/left/right) and a tiny little viewable area right in the center of the screen.  I have to squint to see anything.  What I want -- and I don't think it's an unreasonable expectation at all -- is for the image to be stretched to fill the screen WITHOUT being distorted to change the aspect ratio.  In other words, when I switch to any 4:3 mode (like 800x600) I expect the image to completely fill my screen vertically (all the way to the top and bottom edges) but with black bars along the left/right edges so that the aspect ratio is still truly 4:3.  This is how I was able to make it work with Vista on this same laptop before, so I expect to be able to do the same thing using Windows 7.  Unfortunately there is currently no way to do that, which completely destroys my abillity to use lower resolution modes comfortably on this laptop at all.
Well you can work past that actualy, but the option is annoying to do everytime since when i go to a lower resolution everything becomes blurry and so on.
Heres what you do when you use a dx9 graphics card.
    1. lower you resolution one step down. I use 1680x1050 so i went to 1600x1024.
You should have the black bars lower bottom on the side different to everyone.
    2. Since CCC dosnt give the scaeling option under "Notebook & Panel Properties" in Advanced View
you change to basic and do it under Quick Settings.
    3. take "Notebook & Panel Properties" on the right side in the box click on " Resize the desktop to fit the display panel" and click go change it to "Resize to fit the display panel"
NOTE.  the trick is that it changes back automaticaly to "Do not resize" when you have your maximum resolution that is recommended by W7 thats why you need to take some other resolution.
I know its annoying to change it all the time but its the best there is right now and atleast you got the games fit to the screen and you can change the resolution back each time but then you got to do the resize with CCC again when you want to play some games.
Hope it was a help to you.

  • Black bars alongside video+squished aspect ratio on export

I'm trying to get my import/export settings right--I keep getting black bars and a squished or stretched image when my videos export.  Since Elements doesn't read MOD I've been using miro to convert, which doesn't like to export to mp4 all that well to begin with (which furthers my diagnosis problems.)  I don't know anything about video image->pixel size (nor can I find anything online that makes sense to me) and canon's website doesn't tell me what my camera is shooting in in those terms, but I've been using the widescreen format--what is that size??  I'm not sure if this problem is because of defaulting project settings on import (Elements not picking up on the proper format and defaulting to something else), an exporting problem (I've tried all the different settings under publish+share>computer>mpeg4 and quicktime>NTSC DVD standard and widescreen, as well as every other export option I can think of), or a conversion problem (why doesn't Elements accept MOD to begin with?  Final Cut 7 does no problem!)  Everything looks good in the editing process, plays fine etc.
Is this a simple fix?  The videos play fine in quicktime, but VLC catches the bars, which makes me think it's a simple solution to a complex diagnosis.  Please help, thanks.

    Thanks for the update.
Let us look into the following next, one problem down (the aspect ratio), next the quality of playback of your Timeline as seen in the Edit Mode Monitor.
    1. Given that you are working with .mod widescreen 16:9.
    a. Open a new Premiere Elements 11 Mac project. Go to File Menu/New/Project and set the project preset yourself in the new project dialog. You want NTSC DV Widescreen. Make sure that you have a check mark next to "Force Selected Project Setting on this Project" before you exit the new project dialog.
    b. Once back in the Premiere Elements workspace, go to Add Media/Files and Folders and import your mod.widescreen into Project Assets.
    c. Right click the .mod widescreen file in Project Assets, select Interpret Footage, and, in the Interpret Footage dialog, dot the Conform to: and set that to DV/DV NTSC Widescreen 16:9 (1.2121).
    d. Drag your .mod widescreen to the Timeline from Project Assets. Do you see no colored line over the content, an orange line, or a green line? If an orange line, render the Timeline with the Render button or pressing the Enter Key of the computer main keyboard. Is the .mod widescreen now display the same, worse, or better than before we started all this?
Also, right click the monitor, select Playback Quality, and see if there is any difference in what you are seeing if you use Highest instead of Automatic as the set. Also check to see if Magnification there is "Fit" rather than other.
Is your video card driver up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the video card?
Please review the above and let us know the outcome.
    Thanks.
    ATR
Although conversion .mod widescreen to another format is always a consideration, it has not been found to be necessary in essentially most cases. Classically, if an import problem with this type of file, the renaming of the .mod file extension to .mpg prior to import took care that while Interpret Footage took care of the aspect ratio issue.
I just saw your note about MPEG Streamclip. That works great for Windows for conversion to DV AVI. Never tried it for a .mov export for Mac. But remember there is an option for 4:3 or 16:9 in that dialog (or there should be...I will take a look if you do not find it). So no distortion expected since MPEG Streamclip should be supplying that problematic 16:9 flag.

  • I get every time after rendering four black bars around the video, I would like to fix this because it is not really professional.

sorry for my poor english, I have a problem with adobe premiere elements 12 when I render I get a video black bars on all sides of the screen, which makes the video smaller. How do I fix this?

    Bram Bakker
Are you OK with translating the language English to Dutch? Have you been using the Translate button at the bottom right of the posts to translate what is written in English to Nederlands (Dutch)? Is the major problem that you cannot find the locations that I point to in Premiere Elements?
    1. What are the properties of the video that you are putting on the Timeline? The quick way to find this
information is knowing brand/model/settings of the camera that recorded the video on the Timeline.
From this question I am trying to find out what the properties are for your video - video compression, audio compression, frame size, interlaced or progressive, file extension, pixel aspect ratio. I was hoping that you could tell me the brand/model/settings of the camera recording the video so that I could find the information myself.
    2. What are you setting (manually) or the project (automatically) as the project preset that will match
the properties of the video that you are importing? If you do not know, then tell us what you see under
Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and the readouts for Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size, and Pixel
Aspect Ratio, even if the fields look grayed out.
Besides knowing the properties of your video, it is just as important to know the project settings. Are you setting them yourself or just dragging the video to the Timeline and letting the project set the project preset automatically? If you are doing nothing, then the answer is that the project is doing the setting automatically.
Either way, you can find out what is being set by going to Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and looking for the reading that you see in the following screenshot.
    3. The next big question is "What do you mean by rendering?"
Do you see these black borders after you render the Timeline content in the Edit area to get the best
possible preview of what you are seeing in the Edit area monitor?
    or
Do you see these black borders after you go to Publish+Share/ and export the Timeline video?
If your "rendering" refers to the export of the Timeline, please tell us Publish+Share/and then what?
This question 3 should not need a screenshot. The question is where are you seeing the black border in your video.
    a. When you are in the Edit Area of the program and you press the Enter key of the computer main keyboard or the Render
    button above the Timeline.
    or
    b. After you have exported your Timeline using Publish+Share/ and one of the export paths.
Please see if any of the above helps. If it does not, then let us try this. In Dutch if you want, describe in your own words
what you are doing in much more detail and post screenshots of the areas involved on your Premiere Elements 12.
Then I will deal with interpreting what you wrote.
We want you to succeed. So whatever way works, that is the way to go.
The answers are in the details.
    Thank you.
