Customer Non-Support

Just a note to anyone thinking of using the tech support. For 23 months I've had to put up with a cd burner that was defective. Each time I called for help, I was told my warranty had expired. I spent many hours on the phone going back and forth about the warranty and most of the time I didn't even get to tell them why I called. When I bought the desk top from HP Shopping I got the 2 year extended warranty (1-11-2007). After many calls, sending receipts, sending faxes, being transferred, they still said It was out of warranty and would not help me. Even after a rep from hp shopping told the tech that I had the warranty and the tech decided I had a bad cd burner, he came back and said sorry your warranty is out. I finally got  someone to find I had the extended plan and send someone to fix my cd burner. So I ended up with 1 month of the extended warranty (my last month). When I suggested they give me another 23 months,the manager Robin, told me he couldn't do that because my warranty started on the day I bought the computer. What an idiot. This is my last HP anything. This was pitiful!

Btw, on the Extended Warranty thing_if you buy 2  yr extended warranty it extends your standard 1 yr to 2 yrs, it doesn't add 2.

  • Adobe Customer Non-Support??

    I see no other place to post about but since the product I bought was their Adobe Reader Pro 9.0 this is where I will start.
    I just purchased 9 volume license copies of their Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Professional.  Through their World Wide Licensing site I retrieved my S/N.  I plug it into my 30 Day trial and it comes up invalid.  I've looked on their site and haven't found anything that really seems to apply.  So I called the support number thinking I'm missing something very simple and this is where the fun begins.....
    8:45am-9:30am - Customer Support - 800-833-6687 - Unknown.
    Talked with support trying to give him my e-mail address.  He was having a hard time understanding even as I was giving verbal examples.  We "mysteriously" became disconnected.
    9:30am-10:00am - Customer Support - 800-833-687 - Unknown.
    This person was a little better but she ended up passing me on after validating my information and Serial Number
    10:00am-10:30am - Adobe Pro Support - 800-3623 - Unknown.
    Once again this person was hard to understand.  He validated my information and Serial Number then said could not help me and pawned me off.
    10:30am-11:20am - ? Support - 800-???-???? - Leah.
    She verified my information & Serial Number and said she couldn't help.  Pawned me off.
    11:20am-11:30am - ? Support - 800-???-???? - Arpeet.
    He validated my information & Serial Number and said it wasn't his department.  Pawned me off.
    11:30am-1:30pm -and counting............. - Volume Licensing - 800-443-8158 - ??3
    Still listening to their on hold music
             12:15pm-12:30pm - Corp. Office - 408-536-6000 - Helen?? Customer Service Manager
              Receptionist wanted to send me to support but after a little persistence she passed me on to Helen's voicemail.
             1:00pm-1:15pm - Corp Office - 408-536-6000 - Helen Customer Service Manager
             Passed to Helen...her voice mail now states she's out till the 24th and to call someone else.  Called and left message.  Will e-mail
    As of right now I'm still on the phone..........................................

    Same issue here.  This is crappy service for expensive products that we paid for and didn't get off a warez site like everybody else seems to.  Lost original DVD (not Adobe's fault).  Can't get replacement DVD from original reseller or Adobe.  Told by adobe that if I purchased download link originally I can login and download.  I didn't.  Told that can't download as a result because they no longer have the files.  Well if they don't how come I can still login and download if I originally purchased a link?  The files are there somewhere if they can still be downloaded by some individuals, like Adobe would throw away the files after two years, give me a break!
    Good customer service would be to have all purchased versions avail to properly licensed customer online for download,  PERIOD!
    Things happend, buildings burn, theft etc.  Help your customers continue doing business Adobe!  Not everyone can upgrade on every micro updated version of your products, some of us have to skip a version to make a living.
    This whole thing smells like a force it down you throat upgrade path scenario.  Totally redicoulous in this day and age.  Shame on Adobe.  Adobe, state a good reason for this (I can't see any) or come clean and say you are being difficult on purpose!
    By the way, If anyone has Design Premium CS3 volume media it would be appreciated.  I can return the favor, we still have our Mac Design Standard and PC Master media.  Or is this against the EULA to copy the disc and distrubute what we rightfully own???  Geez what a joke this is...

  • Verizon Customer Non-Support

    This is a transcript from an online chat with Verizon Support.
    I was trying to upload a csv file to my webmail account. Even though the capability to do this is clearly indicated I was informed you actually can't upload a csv file of contacts - unbelievble! I wonder what other advertised capabilities don't actually exist?
    Chat Subject: FiOS Internet (E-Mail) Your Question: I am trying to upload a csv file into my address book. I keep getting an error message saying the format is incorrect. I have 3 columns labeled firstname, lastname, Email address. Are there specific header names needed? A Verizon Service Representative will be with you shortly. Thank you. (15:15:18) Agent Randy has joined. (15:15:38)
    Randy : Chat ID for this session is 12040929055. (15:15:38)
    Randy(15:15:43): Thank you for using Live Chat technical support, my name is Randy. I apologize for any delays in reaching an agent. Please remember we are only able to assist you with technical support and questions regarding your FIOS services. If you have any billing or order questions please call 1-800-VERIZON.
    Randy(15:17:39): Thank You, One moment please while I look up your information.
    Randy(15:19:34): If you are trying to upload this into the online webmail then it will not work as you would have to enter each one separately. If this is for your Outlook or Outlook Express that should work, however this is outside of our support through FIOS technical support and you would need to check with Microsoft for assistance with this
    Bruce (15:20:51): I am inside of Verizon webmail where it specifically takes you through the steps to upload contacts into verizon webmail!!
    Randy(15:22:18): I do apologize but you would need to enter each contact individually in order to get your address book updated into the webmail. I am sorry for the confusion on this
    Bruce (15:23:57): This is copied from verizon webmail Bruce (15:24:17): Verizon Webmail allows you to Import Contacts from Outlook Express / Microsoft Outlook / Windows Mail
    (Vista OS) using csv (Comma Separated Values) file. Learn How
    Bruce (15:24:58): Step 2: Importing them to Verizon Webmail
    Sign into Verizon Webmail
    a. Click on the Contacts icon on the top left panel.
    b. Then Click on More... on the Contacts Toolbar
    c. Click on Import
    d. Click Browse to Locate the .csv you created with your contacts
    e. Then Click on Import Contacts
    Randy(15:25:08): Ok
    Randy(15:25:55): If you are following these steps then if it is indeed working then you should have no issues
    Bruce(15:26:10): Exactly my point
    Randy(15:26:16): However if it is not then I would be unable to do anything more with this
    Bruce (15:26:52): I am following the procedures - What headers are supposed to be on the csv file?
    Bruce(15:29:27): are you there? Randy(
    15:29:43): I am sorry but I am not certain what you could try with this, as this is not something we support, as this is not a feature that actually functions, although you may see different on your screen
    Bruce (15:30:35): What does that mean? There's a capablity that isn't really a capability?
    Randy(15:31:36): Apparantly so. As I had stated earlier this is not a function that the webmail has enabled at this time. I do apologize for the confusion on this
    Bruce (15:32:32): ok - I just wasted over an hour trying to make an advertised capaability work
    Randy(15:35:25): I do apologize for this. I as well wish this would be removed to avoid such confusion as this Your session is now closed. Thank you,have a nice day.

    The agent is confused, the feature works fine. (I just tried it again to be sure.) What program are you trying to export from? I can try to give you a step-by-step.

  • SQLException :  Non supported character set

    I'm trying to use customized type mapping with JDBC and something doesn't work.
    here is a sample code:
    Connection con;
    String spec = "{? = call listUzivatele()}";
    CallableStatement cstmt = con.prepareCall(spec);
    cstmt.registerOutParameter(1, Types.ARRAY, "ARCH_L.SEZNAM_UZIVATELU_T");
    cstmt.executeUpdate();
    Map map = con.getTypeMap();
    map.put("ARCH_L.UZIVATEL_T",Class.forName("uziv"));
    Object[] pole = (Object[])cstmt.getArray(1).getArray();
    after the last statement I'm getting SQLException:
    Non supported character set: oracle-character-set-170
    without setting type mapping for "ARCH_L.UZIVATEL_T" code works.

    here is the answer - put nls_charset12.zip into your classpath

  • Custom non-PersistenceCapable classes used as keys in Maps and/or SortedMaps?

    Hi all,
    I need to support custom non-PC classes as keys in SortedMaps. It takes
    custom coding to the Kodo API right now, and before embarking down that
    road, I wondered if anyone out there has already done this and is willing
    to share that code.
    Thanks!
    --matthew

    Matthew-
    Can you just make the key implement Serializable and store it as a blob
    (which means that you will not be able to query against it), or do you
    have other restrictions?

  • Satellite U300 connected to TV - Non supported video format

    I am using Toshiba Satellite U300-15q and it has a vga output so i bought a cable and a box that transfers te analogue signal of vga to digital of hdmi so that i can connect it to my 32' TV Sony make.
    But if i connect it it says on the tv in yellow letters non supported video format.
    Why is that and how can i fix it ?

    In the whole story problem is that you use third part hardware or software so this described issue has nothing to do with your Toshiba notebook or Toshiba in general.
    On notebooks side is important that video signal is sent on proper way. What happen later and why this signal is not transformed correctly is matter of this box.
    Which box do you use?
    In my opinion you should contact manufacturer of this box and their support. They should know how it works and how to fix this.
    Generally speaking, Toshiba has nothing to do with this problem.

  • HOWTO: Create a Boot Configuration That Has No Driver Signature Checks. Disable Driver Integrity Checks and Install a Custom Non-Signed Driver

    Hello,
    Recently, I had a task where I needed to install a custom non-signed driver onto my Windows 8 64-bit setup. As it is known, Windows has driver enforcement policies that, as a security measure, do not allow you to install non-signed drivers.
    I did not want to alter my current boot configuration so I decided to create a separate boot entry that would have driver signing policies disabled. For some reason I did not find any good source that would contain a step-by-step instruction on completing
    this task, so I decided that I'd better share my experience here.
    Lastly, there are multiple ways how you could turn off driver enforcement policies, but I find the way to do this via boot manager.
    Here's how you can do that.
    1. Press WindowsKey and type 'cmd' (without quotes) to find Command prompt, then click Command prompt icon. If you have User Account Control turned on, hold Ctrl+Shift keys pressed when clicking the icon.
    This will force Windows to ask you for elevation of command prompt. Elevation is necessary for editing Boot Configuration Database (BCD), the database used by Windows boot manager to store boot settings.
    2. In the User Account Control window click Yes to confirm elevation of command shell.
    3. At the command prompt type
    bcdedit
    to list your BCD entries.
    This will give you an output like:
    Windows Boot Manager
    identifier {bootmgr}
    device partition=\Device\HarddiskVolume2
    path \EFI\Microsoft\Boot\bootmgfw.efi

    The section that starts with Windows Boot Manager lists current settings for the boot menu. Here you find what boot entry is chosen by default, this is the one what you will boot into if you do not select any boot entry in the
    boot menu.
    The following record
    default {current}
    indicates that by default my Windows boots into configuration which I use at the moment (currently booted Windows configuration).
    To find out what exactly is current configuration, look into the list of boot entries, records that contain boot loader configuration and are titled as Windows Boot Loader in the bcdedit output.
    For example, the entry shown above is one of my boot configurations. This is one of the boot entries listed on the boot manager screen when I start my PC and it looks like:
    Windows Boot Loader
    identifier {a329b5d0-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}
    device vhd=[D:]\win8prowmc01.vhdx

    This record has a unique GUID identifier that can be used to reference this boot entry, which is:
    identifier {a329b5d0-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}
    If we look at the Windows Boot Manager settings, we'll see this entry is the first in order to be displayed in the boot menu on OS start (I marked the unique bits):
    displayorder {a329b5d0-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}
    {a329b5cc-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}
    It references my VHD drive, a virtual hard drive where my Windwos 8 setup is residing:
    device vhd=[D:]\win8prowmc01.vhdx
    And it also specifies that the boot manager must use UEFI BIOS extension code to access my Windows boot partition:
    path \EFI\Microsoft\Boot\bootmgfw.efi
    3. Now locate the current boot entry.
    Current boot entry contains boot settings used to boot into Windows configuration to which you are currently booted. It is referenced in the list of boot entries as a Windows Boot Loader record that has the {current} keyword inside and may
    look like:
    Windows Boot Loader
    identifier {current}
    device vhd=[D:]\win8rtm.vhdx
    path \Windows\system32\winload.efi
    description Windows 8 Enterprise RTM

    Because we are more than happy with current configuration and want to base our new boot configuration on these settings, we need to copy this boot entry ({current}) to a new boot entry.
    This is done by running the following command:
    C:\Windows\system32>bcdedit /copy {current} /d "No Driver Signature Check"
    Parameter /d here indicates that the following sequence of characters specifies the display name for the new boot entry that we are creating. The name inside the double quotes will be displayed in the boot menu when you boot your Windows.
    In other words, if you know restart your system, you'll see the new No Driver Signature Check in the boot menu.
    When copied, the entry is automatically given a new GUID identifier, so upon running the command above, you'll see the following line returned (you'll have an other GUID since these are unique identifiers):
    The entry was successfully copied to {a329b5d8-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}.
    4. Make sure the entry has been successfully created.
    Run the same bcdedit. (You may specify /enum or /v, or both /enum /v parameters at the prompt to get more detail about boot entries, but simple bcdedit is just enough to see the new entry):
    C:\Windows\system32>bcdedit

    The entry has been created and given a unique a329b5d8-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240 ID. It now has exactly same boot settings as the boot entry we used to boot into current configuration of Windows.
    5. Modify created  No Driver Signature Check entry and specify that Windows must have driver integrity checks disabled when booted using this boot entry.
    Any modifications to boot entries are made using /set parameter. To indicate that we modify a specific boot entry, we must specify the GUID for the No Driver Signature Check record, which is:
    identifier {a329b5d8-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}
    In other words, to edit (add or change) an option for the boot entry, we need to use the following command syntax:
    C:\Windows\system32>bcdedit /set GUID <boot_option> [<option_value>]
    First, we must specify that we don't want integrity checks be made. This is done by adding the loadoptions option and setting it to DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS value:
    C:\Windows\system32>bcdedit /set {a329b5d8-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240} loadopti
    ons DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
    The operation completed successfully.
    6. Verify that load option has been added.
    Run the bcdedit command:
    Windows Boot Loader
    identifier {current}
    device vhd=[D:]\win8rtm.vhdx
    path \Windows\system32\winload.efi
    description Windows 8 Enterprise RTM
    locale en-US

    device vhd=[D:]\win8rtm.vhdx

    7. Add the option that turns on test signing mode and disables checks of driver signature.
    Adding the testsigning option and setting it to ON does the trick for us:
    C:\Windows\system32>bcdedit /set {a329b5d8-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240} TESTSIGNING ON
    8. Now we have a boot entry that enables Windows not to do integrity checks and digital signature validation.

  • How to print on a non supported AirPrint printer

    We have a wireless HP 6300 inkjet printer.

    It's possible to use free software (Virtualbox and Ubuntu) to fix the broken iOS 5 Airprint printing with non supported printers.  Here's a fix that works on my imac, but should also work on even a windows pc.
    My setup is a lion imac with 2 non-airprint supported usb printers attached, a belkin wifi router that provides network connectivity for my imac, ipad, and iphone.
    Install ubuntu 11.10 in a virtualbox vm.  Specify to use the "Bridged Adapter" with "en1: WiFi (AirPort)" for the network hardware.  Make sure the imac's usb printers are setup with sharing.  On ubuntu, select System Settings > Printers and add your imac's shared printers to the list.  Then start ubuntu's firefox and set "localhost:631" in the address. On the administration tab, under the Server section, check "Share printers connected to this system" and hit Change Settings button to activate it.  Go back to ubuntu's printer setup, and right click on each printer and check that the properties Policies tab does not have any messages about it being unshared. If so, then go back to firefox and make sure the Server sharing checkbox is enabled. It may help to reboot.
    Fire up virtualbox to be able to use AirPort printing to your imac's usb printers, when you want to print from the iphone or ipad. This also works on iOS 5.
    Only problem is error message from iphone to check the printer for errors, even though it actually prints ok.

  • Are custom queries supported in BOXI R2

    Are custom queries supported in BO XI R2.
    What are the possible issues that may come up when a BO 6.5 report with custom query is migrated to BO XI R2.

    If you are working with BOE and .NET, please post the query to the ".NET Development - BusinessObjects Enterprise forum:
    .NET SDK Application Development
    If you are working within BOE, please post this query to the Business Objects Enterprise Administration forum:
    BI Platform
    That forum is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there. Also, all BOE queries remain in one place and thus can be easily searched in one place.

  • Non supported character set error

    Hello, I have a j2ee application that uses OLAP API to make queries against cubes created with cwm2 packages, in a database (db 1).
    I've replicated the schema in another db (db 2), importing the user (with a dmp file) and throwing the object creation scripts. This works right, and the objects in the catalog are all validated. But my j2ee application doesn't work against this new user; some errors appears.
    The two databases are the same version, the only difference is that db 2 was installed using WE8ISO8859P15 character set. Is there any problem with this set and the olap api ? The character set in db 1 is WE8ISO8859P1.
    The error is:
    "oracle.express.idl.util.OlapiException: Non supported character set: oracle-character-set-46".
    I'm using ojdbc14.zip and orai18n.zip in the WEB-INF/lib directory of my application. My database version is 10g r. 2 (10.2.0.1.0)
    Thanks by your reply.

    At what point does this error occur? Can you provide more of the stack trace?
    Geof

  • Non supported character set: ...

    Hi,
    I'm sure I have a well known problem. When trying to post a new row to my DB (Oracle 9i Rel. 2) a java.sql.SQLException is thrown with the message Non supported character set: oracle-character-set-178
    What I did to fix this error is:
    - checked if nls_charset12.jar is in the classpath (it is)
    - tried thin instead of oci (the error is the same)
    - changed my NLS_LANG to ....UTF8 or ....WE8ISO8859P1 (didn't help also)
    Does anybody know something else what I can do?
    Thank you.
    Axel

    I found the solution myself.
    I had to use the classes12.jar (etc) shipped with JDeveloper. I replaced these some day because OCI access didn't work with these classes. But now it seems to work.

  • Non-supported Character Set-36

    I'm using Oracle8 and I have a Java application that tries to insert a text message in a queue. The file works in my company, but when I try to run it from another place it produces an error saying:

    Knowing that NLS_LANG parameter is set to American_America.AR8ISO8859P6 (it must be kept as AR due to another application).
    So how can I get rid of this error??

    I am not an expert here,
    but it seems that since you are using ojdbc14.jar you may actually need the
    nls_charset12.jar
    instead of the one I suggested previously.

  • I have inserted a non supported CD that won't come out of the DVD player

    How can I get the non-supported DVD to eject?  Nothing happens when I hit the eject button.

    Actually, what I did after that didn't work, I found the eject "up-arrow" near the CD list. When I hit that it ejected!

    Check your CLASSPATH enviroment variable. Try to add something like c:\Ora10g\jlib\orai18n.jar.
    From "JDBC Developer’s Guide and Reference":
    orai18n.jar
    Contains classes for globalization and multibyte character sets support
    This solved the same error in my case.
