Customer's PDFs look fine until "white space" is cut off

We've got a commercial customer using InDesign CS2 and Distiller 7 that is having issues with the bottoms of their pages getting cut off when our RIPs (ECRM) delete the "white space" around their pages. In some cases (but not all), removing the white space also seems to be taking off the bottom two or three rows of pixels.
The PDFs look fine when they arrive, but once the RIPs get them, the bottom of the page gets cut off (sometimes).
I can actually see which pages are going to cut off by using the Acrobat crop command and telling it to "Remove White Margins."
They're the only customers we have (and we have dozens) that are having this problem. What can I do to help them fix it?
Here is the file as they've sent it. Standard white margin around the page and no oddball crop or art boxes.
When I check the "Remove White Margins" box, however, this is what happens (and it appears that's what our RIPs are doing, too, as the results from the RIPs mirror this.
It's difficult to see in the small preview here, but Acrobat is now cropping off the bottom of the image (not just white space). Question is, how do we stop Acrobat from identifying this text/image as white space and allowing it to be removed?

I decided to take Jerrold's advice and converted the pdf to a jpeg to see if borderless printing was possible with a picture. Before printing I selected 'Scale to Fit' then 'Fill Entire Paper' and it worked! It printed the entire page including the 1cm at the bottom that was previously cut off.
So bascially with this HP printer if I want to print PDF's without leaving a 1cm gap at the bottom of the page, I first need to open the PDF in Preview, Save as jpeg, then print using the settings above.
A little annoying but at least it's a solution! Thanks everyone for your help!

    I have the same problem with lectures slides.
    Furthermore, sometimes the text box, when doube-clicking, turns  the text into a one-liner. Causing the text box to sometimes get 3. times wider than the pdf itself.

    By pressing [cmd + I] the Inspector opens up and clicking on the rightmost tab 'Annotations' you should be able find those Annotations again. I do this regularly to find the empty annotations I accidentally create while clicking through slides.

    Same problem, 3.6.8 and previous recent versions. I never thought to try another browser but I just pasted into IE and it worked fine. I copied from Firefox to IE and it worked as well. It's just when you paste into Firefox that you get the weird line breaks.

  • Adding custom stamps to many pages in white space.

    Is there any way to add a custom stamp to every page of a PDF book and having it placed into the white space on the document? I have found a script that will do every thing except for the 'white space' part of my query, so I don't think I will have much luck.
    Watermarks will probably not work in this instance, the stamp needs to be noticible but not in the way, and the watermark will encouter the same placement problem (as it is preferable if the stamp/watermark is not getting the in way of the drawing pdf's content).
    Any help will be appreciated, just let me know if you need more clarification.

    The question is what do you mean by "white space"? Is it always the same area on the page (like a 2" margin), or is it a different location for each page, where there happens to be no text or images? The former is possible, the latter only partially, and is very difficult to implement with a script.

  • PDF looks fine on screen but text does not print

    PDF created from Word looks fine on screen but text does not print (graphics do). Alos loses text on FTP or Email.  Windows 8.1 64bit. Acrobat XI Std. Word2013. Print to PDF from Word 600dpi, use doc fonts, download as softfont. Arial, calibrai - all fonts lost. Same issue as Phillipio61 and alacker2?.

    Problem not with all fonts.  Problem with arial and calibri fonts - maybe others.  Times New Roman, gil sans, viner are OK for example.

  • PDF looks fine in-house; Clients see jumbled mess

    Hello,
    I'm using Acrobat 8 Professional 8.1.2 to generate PDFs from MSWord and an in-house webtool. When other colleagues view these PDFs in either Acrobat 8 Pro or Acrobat 6 Pro, they look fine. When we email them to people outside, many have complained that they just see a jumbled mess of letters & symbols (although the Word and Webtool template portion of the document appear fine). At least one of the people outside are using Acrobat 7 Professional. Any ideas why this would occur? We're on:
    Windows XP SP2, variety of computers including IBM Thinkpad T42p 2.0GHz, IBM Thinkpad X40 P4 1.2GHz, IBM Thinkpad X41 1.6GHz, Lenovo M52 Tower P4, Lenovo M55p E6600, and Lenovo M57p E6550.
    Help!

    Thanks for the suggestions, guys - I might be at a standstill right now. When I went into PDF Optimizer, no fonts showed up...which leads me to believe that they were not embedded in the PDF as you mentioned. I'm trying to verify with some others if the 'problem files' are ever printed to PDF from Word, where they can choose to embed the fonts or not. If these 'problem files' are being created by the webtool, there's nothing the user can do ~ I'll have to check with the developers of the webtool to see if they can tweak the PDF creation.
    Regarding saving to an earlier version, that shouldn't make a difference, as I tested the Acrobat 8 version of the document being opened in Acrobat 6. I got the usual warning that the PDF was created in a newer version, but it still opened fine...?

    Recently purchased new HP Deskjet 1512 .    I digitize embroidery and Chenille designs.   Since purchasing the new printer,
    intermittently  the worksheets , which look fine on the print preview,  will print completely black in the window workspace

    Hey,
    1. Uninstall the printer software (*click on the Windows 7 instructions) >> http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02259020&tmp_task=useCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=e...

    3. Restart the Computer.
    4. Disable all of your firewalls and anti-virus scanners.
    5. Reinstall the software off of hp.com.
    Best of luck let me know how it goes.

  • Everything looks fine, until page is printed

    I created a page with CSS and html that looks fine in the
    browser, but when I print it, 2 of the divs overlap. It's on an
    intranet so I can't post a link to it, but here's the CSS. I'm
    wondering if anyone can help me out. Thanks in advance.
    #credits {
    margin-top:10px;
    margin-bottom:5px;
    position:relative;
    margin-right:0px;
    width:100%;
    background-image:url(graphics/tosbg.gif);
    #ad1 {
    float:right;
    position:relative;
    margin-top:10px;
    margin-bottom:10px;
    }

    You sould be able to make a seperate CSS for Print vs Web.
    In the printer CSS, perhaps you can just change the
    positioning and margin
    attributes to compensate for the printing challenges.
    Plus making sure your floats are properly cleared (hard to
    see if there's
    anything regarding the rest of the HTML in conjunction with
    the CSS without
    the page)

  • Hyperlinks in word containing spaces are cut off in pdf generation

    We are using a mix of MS Word 2003, 2007 and 2010. All are experiencing the same problem when using Adobe products (Abobe Acrobat Pro 9, Adobe X, Adobe Elements) for the generation of a pdf document with respect to hyperlinks.
    When we have hyperlinks containing "spaces" they will get cut off in the resulting pdf document.
    Examples have formatting like this in Word
    http://team.eu.enet/XXX/Master data forms/Master Data Project.xls
    When we convert this in Adobe it cuts off the link after encountering the first space, like this
    http://team.eu.enet/XXX/Master (on the face of it the whole line looks like the one above, but the hyperlink shown when hovering over it has been cut like shown)
    In some cases the spaces are replaced with %20 (IE for example replaces spaces with these characters automatically). For those cases the conversion works just fine, and the whole line is maintained as a hyperlink also in the pdf
    http://team.eu.enet/XXX/Master%20data%20forms/Master%20Data%20Project.xls (again, the line does not look like this in the pdf, but the link when hovering over it does)
    When we use the Save as function in Word 2007/2010 this replacement is done automatically. the links in the "word generated pdf" are not containing spaces,
    Is there any way to get this replacement done automatically when converting hyperlinks from Word to PDF? Repairing the links afterwards (which is possible, I know) is not a viable option when you have many such links in a word file.

    Sort answer: Use proper syntax and do not use the "space" character in any URL.
    "20" is hex for the space character (which is a "reserved" character in that it may have special meaning).
    If used out of context being "reserved" applications have to make something of a guess.
    Success is the %20. Sometimes success is not had.
    So, again, proper syntax - no "space" character in a URL (use the underscore).

  • When printing a simple single photo, my picture looks fine until I press the print button, then the view of what it is going to print looks like it has zoomed in and cuts off part of my original picture.  This does this with every picture I try to print.

    When I press print, it looks like it crops or zooms my original pictures and cuts it off, on the print view. Therefore it only prints a zoomed in partial picture?  Anyone else have this problem?

    This usually occurs because you're printing a photo in an Aspect Ratio different from the actual shot. The Aspect Ratio is the shape of the photo, expressed as the length x breadth.
    So, if you have - for instance - a 4:3 shot and try print that at  4:6 you will have issues.

  • Printing PDF from IE with Adobe Reader - extra white space at top of page

    I searched the forums far and wide but did not find this question or information to answer it.  If it's out there, I'd be much obliged if you'd point me in the right direction.
    A user of the web app for which I do tech support just called to say that starting today, whenever he opened a PDF from our app (in IE), the PDF looks fine on screen but when he prints the PDF, every page has extra blank/white space inserted at the top, which cuts off the bottom inch or two of each page.
    No other users have called with this complaint, and if changes to our app or an automatic background Adobe Reader or IE update caused this problem, I would have heard from many users.  I have a sneaking suspicion I have heard about this from other users, but since troubleshooting their IE or Adobe isn't exactly my job, I don't know if I did any more than advise them to talk to their tech support people.
    I can't recreate his problem (read: it works fine for me), but I'd like to help him.  Can anyone think of a reason why this might be happening?
    Thanks in advance.

    What I know:  He's using Adobe Reader X.  I do not know if it's the most recent version.  The problem only exists with PDFs from our web app; he's not having trouble with other sites or with other PDFs.
    I do not have a copy of the PDF; I can't give you the copy I downloaded when I logged into his account because there is proprietary confidential information on it, but everything worked fine for me and he's the only user with this complaint, so I believe it's related to his PC or printer, not to our app or to Adobe per se.
    I sent him email asking for more information, but I do not know what printer he's using.  I don't even know what version of Windows he's running.
    Based on some info from Adobe, I suggested he make sure he's using the most recent version (10.1.2), try 'print as image" to see if that's any more successful, and make sure his printer drivers are up to date.
    Given the nature of tech support, if he solves the problem or finds a workaround he's happy with, I may never hear from him again to know.  I just wanted to know if this was a known issue and what recommended resolutions for it might be.  Having not found anything on the web at large, I figured the Adobe forums would be a good place to ask.
    Thanks for the time you took to answer.
