Customer services from India

Following an ongoing intermitant outage over the last two weeks and many long calls to India we waited in all afternoon for a visit from an engineer who didn't show.  After another 1/2 hour call the explanation was that they have an email outage and the engineers haven't been getting their appointments.  Has anyone else heard this today?

Hi Chris-b,
I am sorry to hear that the engineer did not arrive as planned. I would like to look into this for you. Please could you drop me an email with your BT account details and a link to this thread? My email address can be found by clicking on my profile.
Thanks

  • Contract mis-sold. Terrible customer service from a supervisor-no clear way to make a complaint

    After being a good customer for a year and a Verizon Wireless customer for 5 years, numerous issues with Verizon Fios have surfaced.
    1) Representative totally mis-informed about the contract
    When I took out a contract with Verizon FIos a year ago, I had not wanted to have a contract because they only option available was for 2 years and I knew that the lease for my apartment was only for 1 year and in all likliehood I would be moving. I was told by the representative that there would be no problem if I took out a 2 year contract because I could simply transfer the existing contract to wherever I moved with no issue.
    Fastforward a year and I'm moving, call Verizon to make the transfer and i"m told, that actually i'm effectively cancelling my existing contract and re-starting as a new customer. This means that my bundle has gone up $10 a month and I would have to start another 2 year contract.This completely contradicts what I was told a year ago. I would never have taken out the 2 year contract if I had known this.
    2) Terrible customer service from someone who is a supervisor
    This morning I spoke to a representative and after she said she couldnt address my concerns about being mis-sold the contract, I asked to speak with a supervisor. How he handled the call was incredibly unhelpful and rude - I dont understand how someone at a supervisor level can have that kind of attitude. First he tried to indicate that it was my fault for not being clear with the representative last year (before he knew the full facts), he did not take show any recognition that being mis-informed about a contract is a significant issue. When I asked him how to make a complaint he told me to go to verizon.com/contact. I did this while I was on the phone with him and told him that there was no clear way to make a complaint, I was told "I am a supervisor, I cant sit here on the phone with you and take you through it step by step" - I was not asking for step by step help, I assumed that as a supervisor he would know which wa the right section to click on. He then basically made it sound like I was an idiot and I was told that every other customer seems to find it intuitive (which judging by other comments on this forum about the contact piece of the site is not actually true).
    3) Impossible to file an official complaint through normal channels
    There is no email address to which you can send a complaint (according to the team on the phone). On the verizon.com/contact page, there is no option for making a complaint. When you type in a question about making a complaint nothing comes up. This seems ridiculous and makes it seem like Verizon is not interested in hearing customers feedback.

  • Terrible customer service from Brendan at Telstra Bourke St Melbourne

    Hi All,
    Just thought I would ask your advice concerning repairs to my Iphone I requested from Telstra.
    The phone is great and I love it, my only problem is that it no longer turns on anymore.
    I took it to the shop where I bought it on (yep I lined up to buy it the day they were released ), the really flashy Telstra shop in the Bourke Street Mall. I got one of the techs on the front desk to look at it. He then took it to the head tech guy and he came back and said they would not repair or replace the phone under warranty. He said that it had a 'disturbed liquid submersion indicator at the bottom'.
    I have never droped it into water the whole time I have owned it, but I do travel overseas to humid areas so that may have set off the 'submersion indicator' to make the techs think that I dropped it into a puddle when I have never done that.
    Obviously, its a real pain, not having a phone for even a day, so I asked what my options were. I was told that the 'apple warranty is void and repair/exchange can not be carried out and the replacement cost for an 8gb for $670'.
    The quotes above are from what is typed on my Service Repair Order.
    I asked was it possible to send the phone to Apple to be inspected, and they advised that it was not, and that my only option was to purchase a new phone, and that I had two options. Firstly, if I surrendered my old phone, a replacement would be issued for $670. Secondly, I could simply purchase another iphone 'outright' for a cost of $726.
    I tool the second option, and have a brand new phone, although I am disapointed that I now have an almost new phone that simply stopped working that is now used as a paperweight.
    I tried everything to minimise the cost of getting a working iphone, and after talking to the lead tech, he then got the store manager to discuss my options.
    Brendan said he was the store manager, and eventually let me know his name after first stating 'I dont have to give you my name' and eventually told me his employee number was 0238895.
    He spent over an hour checking the situation while I waited, but would not put anything in writing except some notes in the section related to the 'reported problem' on the Service Repair Order.
    Is the advice that Brendan from Telstra gave me correct, and was it necessary for me to purchase another brand new handset for $726?
    If anyone has any questions I can be contacted on <Edited by: Host>
    Kind regards
    Wayne B

    See the response that I provided to Tamara regarding the recent change to the policy.
    You might want to print the new version of the policy and bring your receipt and go back to Telstra and see if they will consider an adjustment, i.e. you return your brand new iPhone, they swap it for a refurbished iPhone and credit you with the difference in price.
    I actually fail to see where you received "Terrible customer service from Brendan" as stated in your title.

  • PLEASE READ - Awful Customer Service from both Sky and BT

    For several weeks or more my broadband connection has been dropping off completely literally whenever it wants. There is no pattern, specific times or any clues as to why it does this whatsoever.  We first moved to the area I currently live in back in November'14 and there had been a couple of issues in the area causing broadband to go down. So we assumed the connection dropping was because of similar issues but it just kept happening so enough was enough, time to call sky. So the teach advisor does a line test which comes back fine and confirms the connection has dropped many times by looking at the history just as I said. They then do a 24 hour line test where they were supposed to call me back with the results, you guessed right....they didn't. So of course I was back on the phone to them, they confirmed the connection coming into the home was perfect. They then ask a number of standard questions regarding the setup and connection socket. We established the connection socket was an old one and 'not' a test connection socket.  The advisor then tells me their booking a BT Openreach Engineer because the socket will need changing for the Sky Engineer to test the connection. I also asked "Do you think it could be the router",  the advsor replied "I wouldn't put my money on it". This was great of course, already onto fixing it I thought.  So the day of the appointment comes and low and behold it's a SKY Engineer at the door NOT a BT Engineer even after establishing over the phone he wouldn't be able to test the connection because of the old socket. He knew nothing about the issue &  my perfect working router was changed to a brand new one along with the microfilter etc, which was fair enough because I ended up with a new one. Amusingly I couldn't keep my old one as a back up....jobsworth, this was of course SKY guessing & hoping it would resolve the issue even if it is the first thing to do they were wasting my time because they 'knew' the connection socket wasn't a test one. He said if it still continues then to call SKY and tell them a BT Engineeer will need to fit a Test Connection socket as we knew anyway. IMO this was unbelievable because regardless of this being their procedure I was given the wrong advice from a so called proffesional Tech advisor and they could have sent a new router in the post as well as booking a BT Engineer = waste of my time.  I finally got an appointment with a BT Line Engineer who turned up knowing nothing about the issue, he did a copper wire test and it come back perfect, he said he's never seen a connection so fast. The Exchange is literally around the corner hence the connection is so fast. He said as the copper wire test was perfect that's him done now but he will change the connection socket to a test one.  Whilst fitting it he said it could be the socket as it's old & the connection might not be filtering through properly. Once fitted it dropped & connected again 5 times or more in front of his very eyes, nothing more he could personally do.  When the line engineer was originally booked Sky's advisor also booked a call from their technical support (higher up) to call me in the afternoon after the engineer had been to see if had been fixed etc. I confirmed the connection had dropped after the new socket was fitted so this completely rules that out.  Due to the history of the connection dropping before my original call, Sky's checks and a new socket of course it's time to book a Broadband Engineer. So the lady says "we've established there is no problems within the home so it must be between the home and the exchange so the last thing to do is book a BT broadband enginner". She says "I'll put you on hold a minute whilst I see what appointments we can get".  To me astonishement she says they need to collect some more data and will call back in the morning at 9:30am. So she calls me back and says they are not going to book an enginner because I have been connected for more than 16 hours now. Well that nearly made me choke in disgust and shock simply because their log history of the connection dropping confirms I have gone much longer connected. Not just that but it dropped 5+ times after the new socket was fitted and in front of the enginner that changed it. So if that isn't an advisor not giving a dam about the customer and attempting to save SKY money I dream that just happened. As you can imagine I told her what a joke that was and hung up the phone, absolutely ridiculous and I am sure the majority of SKY employees would agree.  The next day just as I knew it would the connection started dropping again as & when it likes, random as usual. So they actually book a BT Boradband Engineer this time, finally. So the engineer arives once again knowing nothing about the job making him the 3rd person to arrive in the dark about the job. He believed the problem was SKY trying to speed up everyone's broadband for a number of months now even if there was only a meg in it. Because of this apparently my dsl noise-margin  was set at 3 and that was too low. So after discussing noise margins with me he went back to the exchange, called SKY who agreed 3 was too low and changed it to 6. He called back and advised me it should be OK now and to give it 10 days for the line to settle. Rather than running at a fragile 24meg it would be a steady 16 now he said, which I could cope with as long as it didn't keep dropping off. Later that day my connection starts dropping again and I knew full well this has nothing to do with allowing the line to settle. So the SKY advisor goes through the notes that the engineer had made, he mentioned everything we spoke about apart from something that shocked me. He has put down that he couldn't do an Earth *something* test because there was young children about. To my amazement not once did he mention that and if he had my partner could have took them upstairs. However that was that and another Broadband Engineer was booked. He turns up making him the 4th person that knows nothing about the job so after expaining the issue he seems very enthusiastic about the job itself so that was confident. After doing the same tests as the 1st 'broadband' engineer he can't find any issues either, so he climbs the pole 50 metres away from the house. He took it apart, cleared a bit of corrosion but nothing unusual. Then he tells me he'll get SKY to monitor the conection, he has another job to go to annd he'll call back at 3. It got to 5pm and still no call or knock at the door so I called SKY who's customer solutions contact BT who say the the issue has been put down as 'resolved'. I confirmed my connection hadn't dropped since so I left it at that. Because I wasn't at all confident it was fixed it was fixed I kept joking with my partner by saying "Resolved" every so often because of the engineer not calling back and the stress it has caused.  Surprise, surprise, the connection drops again the same evening at just gone 7pm (Saturday) so I am straight back on the phone to SKY. Having to explain everything again he puts me on hold to discuss it with a colleague. They put all the notes from every case into a new one as previous one's have been closed as the engineer's claimed 'reolved' when obviously it wasn't. He explained that it is being 'Viper' escalated now as a complaint to BT because they have given 2 frontline Engineers to rectify the problem & they haven't. So they booked a more 'senior' engineer to come out. SKY advised he will be given all the notes from the case & when they get confirmation of the appointment they receive a reference. SKY then contact BT with that reference and explain everything verbally as well. Whilst booking the appointment & speaking with me the broadband connection goes and so the does the landline so we get cut off. This happens everytime they book and engineer. and 2/5 advisors haven't bothered calling me back to contine the conversation, this guy was the 2nd NOT to call me back. The day of the appointment arrives and because I wasn't called back & received no confirmation I call SKY to confirm who do just that.  I decided to discuss more discount with this advisor because I had only previously received a small amount because BT Engineers keep putting the case down as resolved. On the Saturday the advisor offensively offered 65p because he does as the computer tells him....pat on the back for him. Thankfully the lady advisor this time was more understanding and applied £20 which was at least something. She also said she would speak with her manager and call be back in the morning with some offers as an apolgy because the enginner would have been out and fixed the issue by then. I was also advised it's the last thing that could try as he is a 'senior engineer'.  The so called 'Senior' BT Broadband Engineer arrives and regardless of what SKY told me about it being 'Viper' or 'Hyper' escalated he was also pretty much in the dark. Well as you can imagine that is just the icing on the cake, lost for words. Anyway, he does his tests & says "Sounds like all they've done so far is climb a pole". So he climbs the pole & replaces the cable from the pole to the exchange still confirming everything is fine. There is nothing more he can do and says I will need to call them if it happens again and say "What do you want to do"....shocking to the least.  He put in his notes/suggestions to SKY; should it happen again, replace the equipment at the exchange or book another type of engineer. I NEVER got a all back the following morning from the advisor that said she would call back with offers even though she said "I always make my call backs"..........looks that way. Of course the connection drops once again, this time when I call & after having to explain literally everything again I get put through to 2nd tier techincal support (something like that). The lady explains that she needs to book a BT REIN Engineer, this was definitely what she said as I asked how it was spelt and since googled it too for an understanding. She said she would normally take my case on because of everything I have gone through & it would mean not having to explain it everytime but she is going on holiday and not back until September. She apologised a number of times on behalf of SKY and arranged a call back on 6th September (I think) to discount me further as an apology. So apparently the REIN Engineer is booked, she told me to unscrew the connection socked and plug the microfiliter directly into the test part of the socket. Whilst she's putting the appointment through the landline goes off  which we were taling on as well as the broadband connection going off. When she called back she assumed I was doing the connection socket whilst on the phone to her. Absolutely not, so I explaine that evertime an appointment is booked with BT this happens. A previous advisor told me that BT does and automatic line test upon booking which is why the landline & broadband drop. She was absolutely adament that this shouldn't happen but that was that & the appointment booked. The Engineer turned up  and would you believe it wasn't until I started chatting with him and he'd already started tests that he realised I was expecting a REIN Engineer. He then told me that SKY cannot raise a REIN Engineer they have to (Broadband Engineers) & there's only 2 in the whole of North *my area*. Well again, what do you do but laugh or cry?, I went for the laugh where my blood was boiling.  He also said that there is no 'Senior' engineer as such and also said "If he put in his notes about changing the equipment at the exchange, why didn't here"....exactly. So the Broadband Engineer goes back to the exhange calls SKY who allow him to change the equipment & calls me back advising it's all up & running. I aksed "If it happens again is there anyone I can call directly", he replies; "I don't know, we have a number specifically for BT and I just spoke to someone called Chris who doesn't think it's REIN  *Facepalm* .  This BT Engineer actually did his job properly but for SKY to say "I don't think it REIN after all that is well......lost for words. If I have missed anything out of all this mess I guarantee if it's not incorrect spellings & grammat it's just more awful, awful customer service from both BT & SKY whom are business patners lol.  So SKY.....Is the Issue fixed?What was it?Where's my further discount?What offers you got as an apology? bear in mind I already pay around £80 per month for everything after call charges. So after this shambles I hope it's FREE. Oh and what are the odds on someone calling me? because evertime I get through it's luck of the draw & most of the time it's BAD LUCK. Although I have already spent literally hours on the phone to you I am glad I have got this on the net now as it will know become common knowledge. I have also kept a personal copy in case the Thread is removed.  Regards.

    Thanks for the info and of course the understanding, althought I am sure someone official browses it now & again my main aim was to get this out there. I had an issue a while ago with EA sports regarding their FIFA 15 game, to cut along story short I was incorrectly banned from their servers for apparently botting so I couldn't play online. Their customer service was diabolical, pretty much on par with this. After some research I found out they were the voted the worse company in the states so that said it all. After being passed from advisor to supervisor to manager and back again everything fell on death ears. So through Google I found as many sites & email addresses as possible and posted/sent my argument. It got as far as the EA president where it was all sorted and I was heavily compensated. If I hadn't of done that though I'd still be banned from their servers.  Will do exactly the same with this case, as everthing goes throught to someone as SKY in the UK it should be a dam sight easier than getting a reply from EA Canada etc.

    I am very frustrated.  I have spent over 8 hours trying to get my Dreamweaver subscription to work on my PC to no avail.  Six hours have been spent with foreign support.  I want to speak with someone who isn't speaking from a script who can actually help me.  Unfortunately even the customer service staff is in India and speaks from a script.  Do I have any options?

  • Broadband and Customer Service in India

    Hi,
    It's time to vent my frustration at BT customer Service.
    My broadband connection was fine until sometime during the night on 28th November, so about 36 to 48 hours ago.
    I logged a fault call with the help desk (In India) and they did all the usual tests they go through but did not solve the problem. They then said that they would call back in 24 hours to see there may be a network problem they were not aware of which might be resolved during that time.
    Well they did call back. I told them problem was still ongoing. So we went through all the tests again and I was then told that there is a 'Major Service Outage' in my area and that the problem is being worked on and should be resolved by 7pm.
    Once I got off the phone I checked the status of my reported fault on BT's website only to discover that the original call had been closed and a new one opened. Seems a bit strange.
    I took a trip to my exchange which is only round the corner from where I live to find it all locked up and no one there.
    I am beginning to feel I am just being fobbed off by BT. All this please wait 24 hours is total rubbish in my opinion. What happens in 24 hours? Do they call back and we have to start all over again? I guess by closing the first call and opening another means they have reset the clock at their end and it looks like they are fixing faults when infarct they are not.
    Why on earth do I have to call a helpdesk halfway round the world in India and speak to someone who has a strong accent I can't understand and they can't understand me. Very irritating. BT Help desks should be UK based...Period.
    DOES ANYONE HAVE A NUMBER FOR BT WHERE I CAN SPEAK TO SOMONE ABOUT A FAULTY BROADBAND CONNECTION WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND IS BASED IN THE UK?
    If you are wondering how I am able to post this message without a broadband connection its being done via wifi to my mobile phone.
    Thanks for any assistance.

  • Poor communication/customer service from HP

    I recently had a problem with my All-in-One as it would not receive complete faxes.  After spending hours with the tech. people via the online chat option, it was determined that the problem could not be solved.  I was offered an upgraded All-in-One at a reduced rate with free shipping etc.  I asked how long it would take to receive the shipment (this was a Friday) and was told the following week.  I asked what the cost would be to have the product shipped overnight as we needed it for our home business.  I was given the price and told that the product would be there the next day by noon (Saturday).  My confirmation e-mail stated that the shipment method was "Shipment Method: FED-EX NEXT DAY (AFTERNOON)"
    Well, the next day I went on the Fed. Express website to track the package only to discover that the unit was sitting in a Fed. Express warehouse 20 min. from my home.  I called HP and was told that HP is not contracted with Federal Express  to deliver on weekends!  I called Fed. Express and they said that I could not go to the warehouse and pick the unit up as it was still in a container.  Ok, why was I promised I would have it by the next day if HP doesn't have a delivery on Saturday????
    HP did refund the Fed. Express shipping fee but the unit was still delayed several days.
    Also:  why oh why doesn't HP use American's on the phones to talk to Americans????  I am so sick of struggling to understand the customer service people because they are based in India!!!!  This makes the situation that much more frustrating.

  • Call Custom Service from Event Receiver as Current User

    Hello,
    i bang my head on this problem for days now:
    My custom web service hosted in Sharepoint 2013 needs to know the logged on user name. I used to have a self-written impersonation in my service client before, but with switching to claims authentication this should be obsolete.
    So within my service i decode the user from
    IClaimsPrincipal icp = Thread.CurrentPrincipal as IClaimsPrincipal;
    IClaimsIdentity ci = (IClaimsIdentity)icp.Identity;
    String User = ci.ToString();
    This works well when i call the service from a custom aspx page.
    It utterly fails when i call the service from a List Item Event Receiver. The User always is the Application Pool Account.
    This is the Client code to open the Channel:
    private void SetChannelFactory(
    MyServiceApplicationProxy proxy,
    Uri address)
    if (null == proxy)
    throw new ArgumentNullException("proxy");
    if (null == address)
    throw new ArgumentNullException("address");
    // Check for a cached channel factory
    string endpointConfigurationName = GetEndpointConfigurationName(address);// Get the endpoint configuration name
    if ((null == s_ChannelFactory) || (endpointConfigurationName != m_EndpointConfigurationName))
    lock (s_ChannelFactoryLock)
    if ((null == s_ChannelFactory) || (endpointConfigurationName != m_EndpointConfigurationName))
    // Create a channel factory without specifying an endpoint address
    // so it can be cached and used for multiple endpoint addresses
    s_ChannelFactory = new ConfigurationChannelFactory<IMyServiceContract>(
    endpointConfigurationName, proxy.Configuration, null);
    // Configure the channel factory for claims-based authentication
    s_ChannelFactory.ConfigureCredentials(SPServiceAuthenticationMode.Claims);
    foreach (var operation in s_ChannelFactory.Endpoint.Contract.Operations)
    DataContractSerializerOperationBehavior behavior = operation.Behaviors.Find<DataContractSerializerOperationBehavior>() as DataContractSerializerOperationBehavior;
    if (behavior != null)
    behavior.MaxItemsInObjectGraph = 2147483647;
    // Store the current endpoint configuration name.
    m_EndpointConfigurationName = endpointConfigurationName;
    private IMyServiceContract GetChannel(
    MyServiceApplicationProxy proxy,
    Uri address)
    //Create Channelfactory
    SetChannelFactory(proxy, address);
    // Create a channel from the channel factory.
    return s_ChannelFactory.CreateChannelActingAsLoggedOnUser(new EndpointAddress(address));
    All research pointed out that "CreateChannelActingAsLoggedOnUser" would pass the current user (which is correctly identified within the event receiver!) to the service, but it doesn't work for my event receiver...
    Any advice on this would be great!
    With kind regards,
    Joachim

    You should be able to get the current user id from the SPListItemEventProperties object. From here you should be able to create a Claim. For example get the user by using
    user = SPWeb.Users.GetByID(properties.CurrentUserId)
    SPClaim claim = SPClaimProviderManager.CreateUserClaim(user.email, SPOriginalIssuerType.TrustedProvider, issuerIdentifier);

  • IPhone 4 Display woes and no Apple customer service from Apple.

    Just purchased 2 iPhone 4s yesterday and get home and they both have developed a yellowish tint in the corner. I then noticed on my phone a dark blob in the middle. All in addition to the iphone having to require me to buy the bumpers that I don't want.
    I have called Apple, the store doesn't have any. Called customer care, they want me to pay $30 per phone to ship them back and wait a week. I have no house phone so I cannot be without a phone. I don't have a credit card so I cannot afford to have them draft my funds. I just bought 2 64 3g iPads and so I'm very frustrated.
    Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what I should do other than return the phones back to the store and go with another provider?
    I love Apple, but this is just silly.

    Verizon has this thing going on where if you start a new contract you can buy one droid get one free. I'm canceling my at&t service and the cancelation fee will pay for itself by the end of the year. Updating my 3gs to iOS4 turned my phone into a paperweight, i made a mac genius appointment via tech support after being walked through the "recovery" process on my iphone, which would lock up my entire computer. when I get to the store they tell me that sometimes "appointments made via tech support will sometimes get dropped" they weren't able to "fit me in" until five hours later.
    Get used to awful tech support and costumer service if you stay with at&t/apple
    Funny how they have to give Droids away to get people signed up, yet even w/ known issues iPhones are still the ones people want to own. Personally I had a yellow screen iPhone. The local store exchanged it for me, no prob. Took about 5 min. I can't imagine getting better customer service at Verizon. In fact I know you can't from personal experience.

  • Where is the customer service from VZW

    Since February 19th I have been trying to Early Edge by eligible phone line and have been unsuccessful through the current day. What I finally got from Verizon Wireless after a 4th visit to the store was that there was a glitch in the Verizon Wireless software that controls validating that a device installment plan has fallen off and it is now eligible to enter a new device installment plan or edge agreement.
    First on February 19th they told me it takes 24-48 business hours for the account to update so I got back to the store to find out that I still can't upgrade.  Then they supposedly discovered that I had to wait until the new billing cycle so that was the reason why I couldn’t complete the early upgrade.  The new billing cycle comes and goes as of the 7th and with no luck still not able to early edge because it still shows an outstanding device loan on my account, which was paid off completely on February 19th.  They even confirm it in their system but it wont let them remove it.  Now this is all while the special device that was being held for me (Gold Verizon Note 3) was sold without anyone contacting me to let me know.  This was after they promised to hold it back in February until my new billing cycle, which in theory should have been the date I could complete the early edge agreement.
    So the store manager works and finds a store that’s willing to send him a gold note 3 that they have in inventory.  I made customer service over the phone and in the store promise that the device would be held until it could be added to my account.  Because the last time the store made the promise they sold the device and didn’t tell me. They didn’t even give me the courtesy of saying we had to sell it but we will work to have another in for you ASAP.  This is the abbreviated version of my still lingering frustration with Verizon because it is now March 14, 2014; 7 days past the start of my new billing cycle and they still have not fixed the problem.
    See below for more details that I sent to one of their customer service representatives via email:

    As I told you by phone I have been trying to make the change in device and use the early edge program since February 19th to no avail.  I want to more due diligence from Verizon Wireless when dealing with loyal customers.  You guys use to have a statement of “The First Time You Call It Becomes Our Problem.”  It seems that Verizon Wireless has done away with this mantra and replaced it with “No Matter How Many Times The Customer Comes In or Calls; It Remains the Customers Problem.”  I have physically been into the store 4 times each time spending more than an hour sometimes 2 hours or more trying to find out what was going on with my account.  I see that Verizon Wireless not only has a tendency to bounce its customers around from department to department over the phone but that they also do this to their store employees.  I believe my total years with Verizon Wireless is in excess of 10 as I started with Verizon just after the purchase of Primeco in the Daytona Beach Area.  I have found that as Verizon Wireless grows my experiences have become less and less stellar and more of a pain point.  I am a business and management faculty as well as a college administrator so I spend my days teaching others how to become great entrepreneurs and even greater organizations that serve the greater good.  One of my focuses is on customer services and the relations of the enterprise.  What I see is a company that has grown so big so fast that they have forgotten the cornerstone upon which their success was built.
    I hope that my message somehow makes it into a training that Verizon Wireless holds with its employees to remind them that you are a service organization that would not exist without customers.  This means that you return to your original mantra of taking on the responsibility for issues the first time a customer calls and not the 4th or 5th or even after they threatened to pick up the pin and publish journal articles or periodicals about the lax services of an organization to big to fail.  This also means that Verizon Wireless shouldn’t launch a program until they have "within reason" reviewed all possible scenarios.  It would seem that my particular scenario is not one that is so farfetched that it could not have been played out and properly addressed before it ever hit “main street”.
    In one of my classes I started teaching Customer Service 3.0 Predictive Services with Drive.  I designed this series to anticipate the customers needs based on recognizable patterns in their behavior.  This is not a new concept its just one that has been revived from the past.  One that Verizon Wireless should actively deploy across its operation. Long-standing customers have certain behavioral trends that can be categorized into a number of vats.  The most important lesson in my most recent interactions with Verizon Wireless that have soured my relationship is that no one within Verizon Wireless is willing to own mistakes until the customer explodes.  A simple phone call well in advance of the 7th of March could have fixed my biggest issue with Verizon Wireless and the local store in Daytona Beach.  A phone that was being held for me was sold and no one bother to call me.  The store made good by calling other locations to find that exact same phone and got it shipped and available on Monday but there is still something fundamentally wrong with not being accountable to the customer. When did this become the rule rather than an unacceptable exception to the rule?  If the district manager was in fact the person that made the decision to pull the phone and sell it to someone else then the district manager should have acted within the acceptable bounds of “Good Customer Service” and personally called the customer.  Our rank within an organization does not negate our responsibilities to admit ownership of our decision(s) even if there are consequences.
    I heard that another employee ordered the same phone from a Verizon store in Tampa and had been waiting and apparently they didn’t know whose phone came in. I know that this was a bunch of lip service because the phone that was ordered for me came from within the district and it was setup so that an employee could pick it up the next day and bring it to the store.  I know it was the phone that was meant for me because I was in the store that next day which was the first day we tried to activate the phone and learned that I had to wait until the new billing cycle.  Don’t try and insult a customers intelligence because you only serve to make a mild situation even worse. I was in the store when the the location that had the phone was called and it was staged for pickup by an employee that lived in the area but worked at the Daytona location.  My trust in an organization that would pull such a stunt and think that I would actually believe it drops lower than the approval rating currently held by the US Congress.  Lie to me and our relationship becomes nothing more than a guarded transactional one.
    My trust in Verizon Wireless has been destroyed by the actions of a district manager.  It does not matter how much effort the store manager Angel or even yourself have put into making it right the fact still remains there is a fundamental wrong that only the district manager could hope to fix through a written apology.  Because this person elected not to do so my resolve in no longer being a strong promoter of Verizon Wireless among peers and students is gone.  Because I now perceive Verizon Wireless to be disloyal to its customers and unwilling to admit fault.  You cannot offer apologies for the actions of a district manager nor can the store manager.  It would be the equivalent of me denying some student privileges that he/she was promised and passing it off on someone else because I don’t feel I should have to be bothered with it.
    It is my hopes that Verizon Wireless returns to its fundamentals of quality customer service not just on the surface but also at the very roots of the organization.  The cost to acquire a new customer is much higher than the cost to retain an existing customer.  There are 112 textbooks that echo this sentiment.
    The 112 books was an exaggeration I can only physically put my hand on 13 that are on my bookshelves.

    Nicely written, but alas it will fall on deaf ears and blind eyes.
    The problem here is not the store manager, the district manager or the untrained personnel in the stores. It comes down to supply and demand and the act of securing customers.
    You wanted to stay with Verizon, you were willing to purchase another device, the relationship is then you are purchasing goods or services to remain a customer. The snafu is your account was not updated. Then because the people you spoke to did not have an answer for the situation, they lied to you.
    Not a good business decision on the face of it, however after being lied to, after having your device sold out from under you, your decision is now to proceed to get that device replaced and remain a customer.
    The long tirade you wrote is more effective if you simply cancelled your relationship with Verizon Wireless and show you are a informed consumer via walking to another service who may value your money more. You will note I did not say 'Value You More"  since over the last few years customer services have rapidly declined at Verizon Wireless.
    Profits for the shareholders ( yep my wife and I own a load of Verizon stock) and insane payments to the management are now focused on making money over the slight annoyances of a small minority of customers with varied issues.
    You see 120 Million customers is what they are looking at. The shear numbers mean a few hundred thousand customers leaving or posting how unhappy they are is minuscule so until that 120 Million drop down to 60 Million or even less Verizon Wireless will not be in any hurry to placate you or 59,000,999 customers until the bottom line is affected.
    I hope you actually get your device, I would be very surprised if they tell you another story on Monday  which 100 text books would not have any bearing on taking care of the customers.
    Many times people can teach but in real life the world is not a text book. There are no flow charts to handle the scenario that get in the way.
    Good Luck

  • Pandora Doesn't Work on Droid X2-Bad Customer Service from Verizon

    This probably isn't news for most Droid X2 users, but my husband can't get Pandora to work on his newly purchased Droid X2. What's really frustrating is that we went to our local Verizon store to pick out a phone for my husband because he wanted to listen to Pandora at work & neither one of us was at all familiar with android phones. We told the salesman that we were newbies & asked his advice on which phone to get. This guy(Fred) assured us that he was a pro & he listened to Pandora all the time on his Verizon phone. He specifically recommended that we get the Droid X2 for listening to Pandora. Unfortunately we did as he suggested & signed on. It took my husband way more than the allotted 14 days to familiarize himself with using the Droid, let alone Pandora. By the time he felt comfortable using Pandora on his phone at home (using the WiFi), it was past the 14 day trial period. That was when he discovered that Pandora wasn't working right on his phone without the WiFi. Naturally he assumed he was doing something wrong. Then we checked into the problem online & discovered that the Droid X2 was infamous for not working with Pandora.
    We went back to our salesman,Fred, & asked him for help in getting Pandora to work. This went on for a few weeks and eventually he admitted that in fact Pandora doesn't work on the phone he recommended to us for just that use. We assumed that he would help us in upgrading to a phone that would work since he was the one led us astray. That was when he went into standard Verizon mode & told us that our 14 days were up & there was nothing he could - or would- do to help us. So we contacted Verizon directly & were told the same thing.
    Is this kind of bad customer service typical of Verizon? I don't understand what the big deal was about not helping us to fix our salesman's mistake. If we'd made this mistake on our own, I could see Verizon telling us that we were stuck. But we told them we were newbies & asked for their help.
    I'm really disappointed because I bought this phone for my husband so he could enjoy Pandora at work. And now he's stuck with 2 years of making do with other services & hoping that maybe Pandora will help him out. Does anybody have any suggestions as to anything we can do to make this sorry situation work? Thanks.

  • Horrible Customer Service from Verizon and Anytime Assurian Insurance is a SCAM

    I am posting this so everyone is aware how horrible the customer service has become at Verizon and the insurance replacement coverage offered.  Please read and BEWARE before purchasing this extended coverage as Verizon will NOT work with you!!
    We have two phone lines and a tablet with service through Verizon and pad the anytime additional insurance through Verizon which is supposed to cover standard insurance PLUS extend the manufacturer warranty.  If the defect is due to manufacturer defect, then the replacement is supposed to be covered without a deductible.
    So now, the recap of the horrible experience we have been through .....
    My husband has an Iphone 4s that had the power button on the top of the phone fail.  The button does not press on/off correctly.  He contacted Verizon and they put him through to the diagnostic time to approve or deny the replacement under the extended warranty.  He contacted the tech and described the problem.  The tech advised him to check all of the water indicators on the phone.  The top one for the headset jack is slightly pink and the other indicators are completely white.  The tech advised him they could send him a replacement phone and then he would send in his old phone for evaluation and he would know in about 6 weeks if he would be charged a deductible.  He then spoke with Kiera (sp??) who advised him to have the phone checked by Apple Genius Bar.
    He took the phone to Apple.  They advised the phone is in great condition and that if he had purchased the extended Apple Care instead of Verizon's Assurian Insurance they would cover it with no deductible.  The stated the reason the phone was not functioning was clearly related to a manufacturer defect and wrote on their assessment paper they gave him that the phone is in great condition.  They stated by indicated that water damage is indicated by all three indicators being tripped -- NOT just the top one.  The rep then walked outside with my husband and said it's raining so Verizon would now void the warranty part and make him pay a deductible since Verizon is being nit picky.
    We then went to the local Verizon store.  The rep and the store manager looked at the phone and stated the top is tripped so the insurance department will call it water damage and not honor the manufacturer defect.  I stated that it seemed like they were finding a loophole out of the insurance coverage for the extended warranty part and making the customer pay a deductible.  The  manager then stated "other carriers would screw you the same way."  REALLY -- THAT'S THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WE PAY INSURANCE FOR???!!!!!????
    So, we called and spoke with a really nice customer service rep (Suzette) who stated unfortunately it was not her department but that she would send a message to have Kiera call us back.  That was a week ago and NO CALL BACK FROM KIERA.  Again, this is the customer service we pay for???
    So, we called today and spoke with another rep and a manager.  The manager again stated we could send in the phone and it's 50/50 if they will charge the deductible.  She stated Apple should honor even though he is outside Apple Care if it is their defect.  I asked isn't that what we pay them for??  She stated they will look at the indicator and call it water because she Googled it --- apparantly Google knows more than the Apple Genius Bar on their own product!  I even offered to fax the paperwork from Apple.  My husband offered to send them the phone and have them evaluate it before they send out the replacement so he's not taking a risk on paying the deductible.  I asked the manager to email me her contact info.  She indicated she would ... 2 hours later, no email.
    So, my husband that is up for an early upgrade but wants to wait until he's eligible for the Edge program (in which he would pay unsubsidized prices for phones to upgrade early -- and give them more money for phones) is stuck with having to decide to continue to use his prior phone that works or risk having to pay $200 for a deductible because they have stated they will look at the indicator and even if it's unrelated, call it water damage.
    We are seriously looking at cancelling our coverage and just going to another carrier.  Because in the end, phones and service are similar, so you really pay for the customer service you get.  Or in this case, the lack of follow up, loopholes in their program, and lack of customer service.  I am thoroughly disgusted that I have paid Verizon for their service for 10+ years and have always paid for insurance without ever having to use it before --- and this is what we get.

    It's not really a loop hole.. if the indicator is pink what do you want verizon to do? Google it, a lot of people on all carriers have been charged for returning a phone with just one indicator showing water damage with iphones.. This is what insurance is for, you pay a deducible instead of full retail. I think you are hung up on thinking the apple rep didn't lie to you, it's easy to say whatever you want when you know you won't be held accountable for it. I mean verizon is a service provider, maybe you should buy your phones from manufacturers if you think you get a better deal
    Have you tried to reset the phone via itunes? Not likely a software issue, but i've seen stranger things with iphones.
