can we customise the ribbon in excel, word etc like in computers other than mac running on ms office with differnet colour systems etc

That's a fine machine and, with 8GB of RAM and 512GB flash storage should serve you well for light video/photo editing as well as for 'normal' usage. And it should last you for years to come.

Will I loose apps (excel, word,etc...)when I delete the orig admin. on a used Mac pro

I purchased a used mac book pro late 2009 model and wanted to know if I will delete the applications(excel,word,etc...) if and when I delete the original administrator. I was able to create a new administrator ID, so I want to delete the previous admin. Also what else would you reccommend in setting up the Mac book to get the old owner info off the system, is there a way/ how do i change the system password, etc...? Obviously I am new to macs, any and all info would be great! Thanks for the help!!!

Did the seller give you the License keys and the DVD disc, or discs, to re-install and re-activate those MS Office programs? If not then you should delete them as they are not yours and he sold you pirated software.
Also if that 2009 Mac came with Mac OS X Lion installed when you got it that is another piece of pirated software and you will have no way of Reinstalling that version of OS X without the sellers Apple ID and Password.
Also did he supply the Original System Discs, which there should be 2, with the system? If not you will need to contact Apple and get a Set of Replacement Discs for that system for a fee of around $40. Then wipe the drive, reinstall the version of OS X that originally came with that system. Then get whatever discs or downloads are needed to upgrade that system to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and then buy Lion or Mt Lion from the Mac App store using your own Apple ID.
Or you could just return it to the person that sold it to you and get your money back.

My hard drive failed. My applications were on the drive including Excel, Word, and Powerpoint. Apple told me I could pull everything from the failed drive. I tried that but the drive is bad so I can't get to anything. Do you think Apple will reinstall?

Thank you everyone. I apologize to confusing all but I am up to date and running OS X 10.8.2. It's possible I purchased the key for Office but I don't think so although it was 3-4 years ago. I guess I will stop in the Apple Store and just ask. I may just buy the new bundle anyway to get the most updated.

When I am in Safari and have an email with a WORD or PDF or Other attachment, how do I set it up so the document opens in WORD, etc. rather than going into download?

When I am in a Safari email and it has an attachment (WORD, EXCEL, PDF) and I click on the attachment to open it, it goes to download.
How can I get the document to open directly into WORD, etc. I am able to do this when I use Chrome and email.

I see that mail.app works. The Preferences > General > Open safe files after downloading did not help.
I have no problem opening documents directly with Firefox and Chrome, and was looking for a comparable solution with Safari.

We have one requirement in bothe the instance, When we are opening a "view output" to open the concurrent requests output file, We need to get the popup (LOV) to choose excel, browser etc
I got one doc:184375.1 but i am not sure, This is the perticular doc
Please help me out to make this setup.

Steps are

2. INSTALL > VIEWER OPTIONS
3. Created valid MIME for Excel
Format Type     MIME               DESCRIPTION
Text          application/vnd.msexcel     11i Excel
B.
1. System Administrator Responsibility
2. PROFILE > SYSTEM      -
3. Check the PROFILE > SYSTEM OPTION - Viewer: Text
This can be Blank to continue using the TOOLS > COPY FILE function or it can be set to browser to be able to choose a Viewer Option.
Now the Required functionality is working.

Am I able to use Microsoft Office when i switch users on my Macbook Air? I can find the applications, Excel Word etc, but when I try to open them it keeps taking me to a software update for Microsoft Office. Any tips on what to do???

I use 2 accounts, one for work and one for personal.
I have Microsoft Office, in my applications, and I can find it in my work user account, but when I try to open it, it keeps doing start up for Auto updates. and wont open the application. It works fine in my personal (Admin) account which is where I did migration when I bought the laptop. And I've looked on here for similar problems, and everyone says if it's in your applications it should work, but I can't open mine.
Anyone know what I can do?

Go to the main Library folder and look for a folder called Application Support / Microsoft.
There are a few folders in there, and you may have to do some digging. In one of them (mine is called MAU2.0), there should be a file called Microsoft Autoupdate. Open it.
It looks like this:
check the button for manual updates.
That should let you open the apps without triggering an automatic update.

What version of device OS do you have?
options/about/looks like 4.x.x.xxx.
You shouldn't Put the documents on you're media card under media, it should go under documents.

I lost the library, pictures, key words,etc

I had some problems importing a file into the library. It made iPhoto crash and I had to launch it again. At the 3rd attempt, when opening it again, everything had disappeared : library empty, no pictures, keyword list reduced to the one by default.
The pictures are still on the hard drive though.
Any thoughts ? Your help would be useful.

Well, I don't know why but perhaps a second (empty) library was created. Try opening iPhoto with the Option (Alt) key depressed. You'll get a menu asking which library to use. Direct it to the correct one.

Does windows 2008 excel, word, etc, work on Lion?

I assume you mean you use Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac, (not Windows 2008.) If so, then yes, Office 2008 or later will work with OSX Lion.

You get this sort of output, which is Postscript commands, when you use a Postscript driver to a printer that does not support the Postscript printing language.
I'm having trouble locating information about this LBP6500 but I would guess that it supports one of Canon's proprietary printer languages like UFR2 or CAPT. The driver you downloaded would indicate the supported printer language. This will present the Printer Software window where you can browse for the LBP6500. Once found, select it and click the OK button. Then click the Add button to complete the printer creation. Now you should be able to print correctly.

Export to excel/word/ppt failed at Web Analysis studio

Hi,
I open a document and right click to select export data and select Microsoft excel or word or ppt, and after input the file name, it will prompt an error message saying "can not export to file".
Is there any prerequisite to use the Export to Excel/Word/PPT functionalities at Web analysis studio of EPM 11.1.2? Do I need to install office at the server side?
Or I need specific version of office at client?

From memory: you need to have MSOffice installed on the report/print server and also the corresponding mimetypes added to workspace.
