Customised data flow for SPM

Hello ,
Wanted to gain some insights on how to accomodate a customised data flow into SPM UI. If needed can we create a new flow and have a bex query on top of that which can then be accomodated into SPM UI? Also how will we manage the data upload set up in this case?

Hi Gundeep
Have you looked at the SPM BPx site for all relevant resources? There are some good ones that will help you get an understanding.
Here are some new ones on exactly the subject you are referring to:

  • How to find the data flow for a given module.

    Hi ,
    Is there a way to find the data flow for a given module(Example AR,AP,......).
    I mean are there any predefined document other than user guides that explains with data flow diagrams(including the tables involved).
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Naveen.

    No such public document available from Oracle unless from Oracle Education.
    for some specific operation you can check Process tab inside Oracle Application which shows the data flow as part for workflow process.

  • Help me in my data flow ... new to Bi 7.0

    Dear friends,
    Iam new to data flow in Bi7.o. Iam loading  data into infocube from flat files which has 7 records. i loaded the data into infocube with 7 records .. then i added 2 records to my flat file when i load it .. iam getting 9 records in my PSA but 16 records in infocube..   i donot knw how to do it..  what setting i should  do  at data source maintaintence...plz help me in understanding the data flow for Bi7.o though i am studying help files..
    Regards,
    pavan

    Hello Pava,
    1. The InfoPackage are the same
    2. The processing type for the DTP must be DELTA
    --> The source for the DTP is in this case the DataSource (PSA).
    --> So u need 3 processes: Delta Infopackage from FF --> to PSA, detla DTP from PSA to DSO --> detla DTP from DSP to InfoCube
    3. "only get delta once" means, the source request is extracted via delta DTP from the source to the target. If you delete the target request from the InfoCube or DSO, the related source request will NOT transfered to the target again with the next delta upload. Usually it will.
    4. "get data by request" means, the delta DTP uses the same number of requests as in the source. Usually the DTP collects the data from the source and creates a new Request that could include several source requests. With this flag the DTP request uses the source requests to transfer the data into the target. So the nb. of requests are the same in the source and in the target.
    I hope this helps,

  • Data Models and Data Flow diagrams.

    Hi  Gurus,
        Can anybody brief me the concept of Data Models and Data Flow Diagrams and their development with illustrations. And is it a responsibility of a Technical or a Functional consultant..i.e to translate Business requirements and functional specifications into technical specifications, data flow diagrams and data models.
    Your valuable answers will be rewarded.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Concept of Data Models
    Data model or Data modelling is basically how you define or design your BW Architecture based on Business requirements. It deals with designing and creating a effcient BW architecture sticking to standard practices.

    Data Flow Diagrams
    This show the path of data flow for each individual object in BW. How data dets loaded into that object and how it is going out of the object etc.
    Right click on the data target > show data flow .
    It shows all the intermdeiate layer through which data comes into that particular object.
    Responsibility of a Technical or a Functional consultant
    This is done genrally in the designing phase itself by a Senior Technical Consultant with the help of a Functional consultant or a Techno=Functional consultant interacting with Business.
    Hope this helps.

  • Data Validation for SD Sales order and Deliveries

    Hello All,
    We activated the data flow for SD sales Order and Deliveries for Infocubes 0sd_co4 and 0sd_c05 and there correspoding datasources.
    I have 2 queries
    1. How to validate data for BI SD sales order with ECC.
    2. How to validate data for BI SD Deliveries data with ECC.
    Kindly help, <removed by moderator>.
    Thanks,
    Rakesh.
    Edited by: Siegfried Szameitat on Jun 21, 2011 12:51 PM

    Hi Rakesh,
    You have to check the tables in R3 and then compare with the Datasources in BW.
    For Examples
    VBAK table in R3 for Sales Order on BW-2LIS_11_VAITM
    VBRK table in R3 for Billing iin BW-2LS_13*
    Check for that day how many sales order were there in VBAK table and there in BW.

  • Data flow into data source

    Hello,
    Is there any nice documentation which describes exactly how the data flows from the source R/3 table all the way to the data source? Is this very different from ds to ds or is there a common logic?
    As I understand it, a function module fetches the data from the data source when being called upon from info package in BW... But how do I trace the flow all the way back to the source tables in R/3?
    Best regards,
    Fredrik

    Hi Fredrik,
    Yes. The data flow for the datasources would be different. You can refer to this blog by Roberto:

  • LO cockpit extraction - data flow question

    This question is related with the LO cockpit extraction.
    Are update tables are meant to be the same  as set tables or

    can anybody provide a highlevel data flow for the logistics data
    using LO cockpit from R3 to BW
    please correct / enhance the below data flow for different methods of LO delta updates as i assume
    and inculude the set up table where it fits.
    (for direct update)
    R3 db talbes -> delta queue -> extract structure -> transfer structure -> infosource -> data target
    (for queued delta)
    R3 db talbes -> extraction queue -> delta queue -> extract structure -> transfer structure -> infosource -> data target
    (for unserialized V3 update)
    R3 db talbes -> postings to update tables -> delta queue -> extract structure -> transfer structure -> infosource -> data target
    I also want to know where does the delta queue reside - in R3 or in BW? Can the content of delta queue be viewed?

  • Using asynchronous timer for data flow control

    Hi all,
      I am using system sleep to control the data flow (some digital lines and analog output). The pseudo code is something like this
    Sleep(150);
    // the following sections are exectuted in parallel
      #pragma omp parallel sections
        #pragma omp section
          DAQmxWriteDigitalLines(...); // output TTL to one digitla line
        #pragma omp section
          DAQmxWriteDigitalLines(...); // output TTL to another digitla line
        #pragma omp section
          Sleep(2); // sleep 2ms
    // the following sections are exectuted in parallel
      #pragma omp parallel sections
        #pragma omp section
          DAQmxWriteDigitalLines(...); // output TTL to one digitla line
        #pragma omp section
          DAQmxWriteAnalogScalarF64(...); // analog output to one channel
        #pragma omp section
          Sleep(1); // delay 1ms
    // the following sections are exectuted in parallel
      #pragma omp parallel sections
        #pragma omp section
          DAQmxWriteDigitalLines(...); // output TTL to one digitla line
        #pragma omp section
          DAQmxWriteAnalogScalarF64(...); // analog output to one channel
    #pragma omp section
          DAQmxWriteAnalogScalarF64(...); // analog output to another channel
        #pragma omp section
          Sleep(11); // delay 11ms
    // ... other stuffs
    I am running windows XP and I know it is not possible to get realtime control but  I want a as precise timing as possible. Above code is not perfect but it works 95% of times. I just read an article about using the asynchronous timer to control the time delay. I try that idea with the following code frame
    int CVICALLBACK ATCallback(int reserved, int timerId, int event, void *callbackData, int eventData1, int eventData2)
    if (event==EVENT_TIMER_TICK)
    int *nextdelay = (int *)callbackData;
    SuspendAsyncTimerCallbacks();
    if (timerId>=0)
    double time;
    if (*nextdelay==0) time=2.0;
    else if (*nextdelay==1) time=1.0;
    else time=12.0;
    SetAsyncTimerAttribute(timerId, ASYNC_ATTR_INTERVAL, time);
    if (*nextdelay==0)
    #pragma omp parallel sections
    #pragma omp section
    DAQmxWriteDigitalLines(...); // output TTL to one digitla line
    #pragma omp section
    DAQmxWriteDigitalLines(...); // output TTL to another digitla line
    *nextdelay++;
    else if (*nextdelay==2)
    #pragma omp parallel sections
    #pragma omp section
    DAQmxWriteDigitalLines(...); // output TTL to one digitla line
    #pragma omp section
    DAQmxWriteAnalogScalarF64(...); // analog output to one channel
    *nextdelay++;
    else if (*nextdelay==3)
    #pragma omp parallel sections
    #pragma omp section
    DAQmxWriteDigitalLines(...); // output TTL to one digitla line
    #pragma omp section
    DAQmxWriteAnalogScalarF64(...); // analog output to one channel
    #pragma omp section
    DAQmxWriteAnalogScalarF64(...); // analog output to another channel
    *nextdelay++;
    ResumeAsyncTimerCallbacks();
    return 0;
    void main(void)
    int n = 0;
    int timeid;
    timeid = NewAsyncTimer(120.0/1000.0, 3, 1, ATCallback, &n);
    But it doesn't work. There is no compilation and runtime error but the timing just not right. I wonder do I have to suspend the timer in the callback function when I reset the delay for next call? If I do so, I am worry if it will apply too much delay (since I suspend and resume the timer in the delay) so it will cause even worse timing. But if I don't suspend the timer before I reset the time, what happen if the code running in the callback function not finished before the next callback arrive. It is quite confusing how to use asynchronous timer in this case. Thanks.

    Yeah, unfortunately the 6711 doesn't have clocked digital I/O.  There are only two counters anyway so even if you could use them to generate your signals you wouldn't have enough (*maybe* something with the 4 AO channels and a counter depending on what your output signals need to look like?  The AO channels can output "digital" as well if you write 0V or 5V only).
    A PCI DAQ card which does support clocked digital I/O and has 2 analog outputs is the 6221 (or if you could use PCIe the 6321 is a more updated version with two extra counters and some additional functionality).
    If there isn't a way to implement clocked outputs afterall, one thing you could do to make your code a little more efficient is to consolidate the writes.  You can put your digital lines into a single task and write them at ocne, and you can put your analog channels into a single task and write them at once as well.
    I'm not sure about the callback issue, you might find some more help in the CVI forum.  I don't think it's going to solve your underlying problem though as ultimately the execution timing of your software calls is at the mercy of your OS.

  • Data Type for Process Flow... PB with Date?

    I've got a problem by passing parameters in process flow.
    I have a mapping with a parameter DATE_EXEC (data type : DATE) and a default value that is TO_DATE('20/01/2007' , 'dd/mm/yyyy') . My mapping is working good when i launch it.
    I have a process flow which contains the mapping. This process has a parameter DATE_EXEC (data type : DATE). I bind the 2 DATE_EXEC. But when i launch my mapping the value is not recognized, I try with :
    - TO_DATE('20/01/2007' , 'dd/mm/yyyy')
    - 20/01/2007
    - 2007.01.20
    - 2007-01-20
    My question is what are the data type in process flow? They are not ORACLE TYPE.
    For example , a parameter in a mapping which is a VARCHAR2 must be input between quotes but if you bind it to a parameter of a process flow which is a STRING (not ORACLE Data type) , you must input it without quotes?
    Anybody has some rules about that?
    I apologize for my english, i'm a french people.

    Here is some information on the literal quote or not quote query and what I think you need to do at the end, hope it helps. Not exactly intuitive...since the flow designer (you) have to know what is a PLSQL object and what is not.
    1. Literal = FALSE
    When Literal = FALSE is set then the value entered must be a valid PL/SQL expression which is evaluated at the Control Center e.g.
    'Hello World!'
    22 / 7
    2. Literal = TRUE
    When Literal = TRUE then the value is dependent on the the type of Activity. If the activity is a PL/SQL object i.e. Mapping or Transformation, then the value is PL/SQL snippet. The critical difference here is that the value is macro substituted into the call for the object. The format of the value is identical to that entered as default value in the Mapping editor. e.g.
    'Hello World!'
    sysdate()
    If the activity type is not a PL/SQL object then the value is language independent. e.g.
    Hello World
    3.1427571
    What you should try......
    Check the map activity parameter in your process flow to see if literal is false (an expression), set it to false and then try using your TO_DATE('20/01/2007' , 'dd/mm/yyyy') expression, deploy your flow and execute. Alternatively the user guide defines the DATE type for flow with the format YYYY-MM-DD so you can have the parameter value as '2007-01-20' use literal equal to true and remember and quote your value.

  • Foreach Loop Container with a Data Flow Task looking for file from Connection Manager

    So I have a Data Flow Task within a Foreach Loop Container. The Foreach Loop Container has a Variable Mapping of User:FileName to pass to the Data Flow Task.
    The Data Flow Task has a Flat File Source since we're looking to process .csv Files. And the Flat File Source has a Flat File Connection Manager where I specified the File name when I created it. I thought you needed to do this even though it won't really
    use it since it should be getting its File name from the Foreach Loop Container. But when attempting to execute, it is blowing up because it seems to be looking for my test file name that I indicated in the Flat File Connection Manager rather than the file
    it should be trying to process in User:FileName from the Foreach Loop Container.
    What am I doing wrong here??? I thought you needed to indicate a File name within the Flat File Connection Manager even though it really won't be using it.
    Thanks for your review...I hope I've been clear...and am hopeful for a reply.

    The Flat File Connection manager's Connection String needs to be set to reference the variable used in the ForEach Loop:

  • Building a data flow task, within a foreach loop for dynamic table name, but ole db source not allowing variable

    In my control flow, I set up a variable for the table name, enumerated by SMO, following the instructions from the link here:
    http://www.bidn.com/blogs/mikedavis/ssis/156/using-a-for-each-loop-on-tables-ssis
    Now, I put a data flow task inside the foreach. I selected the OLE DB connection manger for my database, set the Data access mode to "Table name or view name variable", and selected my variable name from the drop down. So far so good. When I click on OK,
    it gives me an error 0x80040E37, basically saying it can't open the rowset for "my variable", Check that the object exists in the database.
    So, I assume I won't be able to do this "that' easily, and I will need to build a "SQL command from variable" or some such thing. Any advice on how to build this Source editor to dynamically name my columns from the variable?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Data Source for reused bounded task flow

    Hi,
    I am using JDeveloper 11.1.2.4.0.
    I have a project from which I exported a bounded task flow to be used in other projects.
    When I include that bounded task flow in a separate project, its data source does not appear in the Databindings.cpx of the project in which it is reused.
    How will the data source for the reused task flow be set in the separate project?

    I have a project from which I exported a bounded task flow to be used in other projects
    By that you mean that you have crated a adfLibrary from the the task flow?
    When I include that bounded task flow in a separate project
    By that you mean you have added the adfLib created above to the other project from the resource palette, right click and 'add to project'?
    How will the data source for the reused task flow be set in the separate project?
    Once you have added the project you refresh the data control and the other task flow should show up.
