customization..... and modification

Hi bhabani,
customization is everything you do in setup of SAP system to make it (more) usable for the customer.
Modification is changing SAP standard objects. The system will automatically ask for a mofifikation key which can be obtained via online service system. The modified objects are registered at SAP and SAP will not take resposnibility for the function.

The difference between cutomizing and configuration is:
- CONFIGURATION: we will configure the system to meet the needs of your business by using the existing data.
- CUSTOMIZING: we will customise or adapt the system to your business requirements, which is the process of mapping SAP to your business process.
Moreover:
Configuration: Attaching to process flow to the existing one
Customization: Adding new fields/Tables as per client requirements. to customise or adapt the system to your business requirements, which is the process of mapping SAP to your business process. It involves code changes to create functionality that is not available through configuration. Customization can be costly and can complicate future upgrades to the software because the code changes/modifications may not easily migrate to the new version.

Customization and business process behind NRAB (free goods) condition type.

Hi Experts,
I am currently working on SAP DSD development. and for pricing procedure we are using ZCPB10 (beverage kalkulation).
There is a condition type maintained NRAB for free goods .I had seen many threads explaining the concept behind it.
But i am clueless about the customization and business process behind it.
Can someone help me in customizing by giving an example ,so it would be very helpful for me to use .

Hi Lakshmi.
The business process is pretty clear.We are selling 10 beer cans to the customer and charging for 8.So basically we need to get inclusive free goods.As per my understanding without going to free goods we can achieve this by NRAB condition type in our pricing procedure.
So the point is how can i set it up or what is the configuration behind NRAB condition type so that it can act in our pricing procedure.

Creation and Modification dates for android file system

Hello all, I am working on a project and i noticed a particular scenario where i'm getting an error everytime i try to run the code below on my android device;

Every time i run this on Adobe AIR's Mobile emulator, the correct dates are show up properly(Possibly because the emulator is running on Windows) but when i switch the debug to the device, the statement in the catch block executes. The real error says "Error #3003: File or directory does not exist."
Am i missing something or is this a normal behaviour which i have to find a work around for? The modificationDate and the creationDate are all properties of the FileReference class which i didnt use to instanciate the file object because i wasnt uploading or downloading anything.
Any form of tip will be much appreciated.

Trying to read the file.modificationDate or creationDate results in an error: "Error #3003: File or directory does not exist."
I have obeserved that this only happens for files that were packaged with the app (and placed in the File.applicationDirectory).
Files that my app has downloaded and saved to the device (File.applicationStorageDirectory) do have a valid creation date and modification date.
Maybe the File.applicationDirectory has different rights?
Does anybody have a solution or workaround for this?

The IReport interface extends IViewingServerGroupInfo interface, that allows you to specify the server group.
The choice selection for that interface is as follows: 0 = first available, 1 = prefer the selected server group, and 2 = only use the selected server group.
The server group selection is by the SI_ID for that server group InfoObject.

Should I make any synchronization myself (use "synchronized" blocks or something else) or this procedure is made thread-safe on the level of the Portal API?

I dont think you have to synchronize the block. i guess the code is synchronized internally.

How can I find this? I tried on SUIM / modification docs, but could not found.

Check this table AGR_DEFINE has the details, but you may need to write some kind of coding or use function module /ISDFPS/GET_AGR_DETAILS to pull the data. If I come across any standard report I'll pass on.

I have to customize and enhance the functionality of CRM 5.0 ICSS B2B web front end.
i studied the ISA50DevExtGuideConcepts21.pdf document,according to the document i am using NWDS for development.
I am following the below mentioned methodology.
1 > Downloaded NWDS 7.0
2> Configured the NWDS to point to remote j2ee engine
      (WindowPreferencesSAP J2ee Engine
        Message server host
        Message Server Port )
3> Got the latest source code i.e sap.comcrmicsswebicss_b2b.war
     extracted the source code.
4> created An Enterprise Application Project
5> Created Web Module Project
6> Added the created Web Module Project into the Enterprise Application Project
7> Followed the 1017761 note to deploy the standard application with different   name
8> Generated the custom_app.ear file.(J2EE Explorer Perspective)
9> Deployed the application using NWDS deploy option.(J2EE Explorer Perspective custom_app.earright click u will have option for deploy onto j2ee engine--asks SDM password)
when i try to access the deployed custom application using
http://host:port/custom_app/init.do
i am getting the following error

when i access the http://host:port/custom_appt/admin/index.jsp
i am getting an empty Menu page .no links for XCM admin
SAP support suggested me to apply the patch.my java stack is at SP11 and
in sync with 979884 note patch also.
but still getting the error.
here my question is am i following proper methodology or u find any gaps in the procedure.
i studied in the ISA50DevExtGuideConcepts21.pdf some where they said
about the enabling the debugging and about DTR ,if find any details do let me know asap.

Mac Does Not Retain Video Creation and Modification Dates

I seem to have encountered a major problem for managing videos on the Mac. There does not seem to be a method - other than manually dragging files "Windows Style" - for moving videos from my camera (any camera) to the Mac (any Mac) that retains the video's modification date (the date the video was taken) so that videos can be organized by date (which, I imagine, is the primary way that I and everyone else would normally keep track of their videos). iMovie resets the "Date Modified" and "Date Created" data to the day that iMovie imported the file. That data is almost meaningless. Yes, iMovie allows for modifying the "Clip Date and Time" after the fact and one at a time but that is obviously inadequate for the serious management of archived files. Neither iPhoto or Image Capture seem to be capable of touching video files at all. Is Mac really this deficient for managing video files? Somebody please tell me I'm wrong. Thanks.

How to identify the OAF customizations and personalizations

Hi All,
We are in the process of upgrading from 11.5.10 to 12.1.3
There are certain customizations and personalizations done on many OAF pages of various modules (like Self service, iRec, iSupplier, etc)
Will the upgrade impact these customizations/personalizations? If so, will it be entirely removed and do we need to redo the customizations/personalizations over again?
Also, I have another need for identifying the existing customizations and personalizations (in 11.5.10) in OAF pages. There are no documents with us which will explain the existing customizations/personalizations in OAF . Need to identify the same. Is there a way which i can follow to identify these?.
Any pointers on this will be really helpful

Many use these two terms interchangeably. I normally use as follows:
COnfiguration : If you use the IMG options provided by SAP (in Txn SPRO) to setup required settings for a business scenario, that is just configuring various parameters to suit your requirement.
If the above configuration settings provided by SAP are not sufficient for your business requirements, you may enhance the SAP standard functions using BADI/USER Exit or by coding additional transactions. This is customization.
