    My apologies if this thread is not belogs to this forum.
    I'm customizing error pages for HTTP error codes in Tomcat 5.5.23.Using <error-page> tag, tomcat is redirecting to the custom error pages for all errors except 401 errors. I'm using BASIC authentication method and browser is IE.If I use <error-page> tag in web.xml ,browser is not displaying authentication login dialog and it is showing standard 401 error page.If I remove the <error-page> element from the web.xml file everything works fine. I was hoping to use my own custom error page for 401 errors when a user of my application forgets his userId/password or clicks Cancel form the Authentication login dialog.

    Same like above configuration is working for all error codes.Some research helps me to place following code in the custom error page of 401 errors.

    One of our engineers got a chance to investigate this further. It turns out to be a bug with Tomcat (5.5.20+).

    The workaround now would be to place your app in a directory that contains no spaces.
    As per the tomcat bug eval:
    Fixed in svn and will be included in 5.5.24 onwards.Let us know if the workaround works? We'll update the netbeans tomcat wiki with the above mentioned information.

  • Can I customize my jsp project directory structure for Tomcat?

    When developing with JSP app wizard against BC4J components...All JSP images, js, css, html is based off of a directory from Tomcat ROOT /webapp/images but I need to base these off another existing directory in root - so I'd want setImageDir("/dirname/webapp/images");
    Is my only option to use the root directory of Tomcat? I had trouble getting that to work.

  • Streaming CSV via Apache/ Tomcat  with Mod Proxy

    I have Apache hooked up to Tomcat using mod_proxy and attempts to stream a CSV file from a Struts action via tomcat fails.
    Using the tomcat port localhost:8080/testappp the streaming works fine but for some reason it does not work via the apache url
    Build is Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 on Apache 2.0.52-25 and Tomcat 5.5

  • Problem in jdbc-tomcat-mysql connection

    hi everybody
    i m in serious problem since last 15-20 days. i m trying hard to make the connection jdbc-mysql using tomcat with the help of a jsp test page but every time i am facing almost the similar probems listed below in detail:
    to make sure that the jdrivers's .jar (mysql-connector-java-3.1.7-bin.jar) available for such connections working fine i have tried the above said connection without using tomcat....which is working fine...for this i have created a dummy database with a dummy table ..and written some queries in the .java file of my code which upon running inserts the specified values in the defined(dummy) database.
    this is the confirmation that the classpath etc..are ok in regard to the mysql-connector-java-3.1.7-bin.jar
    now i have placed a copy of this .jar file in to the commons/lib directory of the tomcat web server(which is suppossed to be the place for such external jars)

    replicationMode = can be either 'pooled', 'synchronous' or 'asynchronous'.

  • Role based layout customization

    Dear experts,
    I need to customize and create 2 workspace layout, (1) First layout is for supervisor role (2) Second layout is for all other roles. I have followed the Oracle BPM Workspace Customization Guide 10g Release 3 (10.3.0), after i updated the workspace.properties, it doesn't look like everyone see the same layout. Meaning, the default layout didn't get overridden by the new layout (i.e.supervisor layout) that i've created. Please kindly advice, thank you!

    I've faced the same issue.
    I went throught document "Workspace Customization" steps, following page 30 recommendations. But nothing changed. Then issued a SR, and Support told me to export the layout from STUDIO workspace insted of doing it from ENTERPRISE workspace.
    The steps should be
    1. Start Studio Engine and log into Studio workspace using Admin as user
    2. Enable edition
    3. Add the panels you want to customize (or remove)
    4. Export the layout, (default name is preferences.xml), I've named it default_layout.xml following document's instructions
    5. Copy the default_layout.xml file to ENTERPRISE install dir: OraBPMEnterpriseHome/webapps/workspace/WEB-INF/
    6. Edit the workspace.properties files located in that dir
    7. Add the following property
    fuego.workspace.preferences.defaultXml=/WEB-INF/default_layout.xml
    (remember not to add it at the end of file, place it somewhere betweend other properties)
    8. Do the usual tasks to restart Tomcat (stop Engines, go to admin center, stop web apps, start again).
    That should work (it worked for me)

  • Eclipse and Tomcat questions

    Hi everyone,
    Lastnight I setup Eclipse to work with Tomcat, which works very good, but there are something I don't understand.
    1. My files are put in my workspace in (C:\Documents and Settings\...etc)
    How does Tomcat (which is installed in C:\Tomcat) know that it should get the files from my workspace directory?
    Because in the C:\Tomcat directory I can't find any .XML file that refers to my workspace directory.
    2. How I developed my servlets till now, I had some other free editor, I needed to compile my servlets then restart Tomcat and then test it.
    With Eclipse + Tomcat plugin, all I need to do save the servlet and apparently the source code is compiled automatically. All I need to do is refresh the servlet in my browsers (very handy and easy to develop like this). But my question is, does Eclipse compile the servlet automatically after saving? And why doesn't tomcat have to be restarted?
    Just a few questions to understand it a bit better, I'm really happy with this setup as it makes everything a lot easier.

  • Bundled Tomcat File Structure and Sun Studio Enterprise 8

    I am having trouble using form authorization with Enterprise 8,
    the bundled Tomcat and MySql.
    Request clarification on what tomcat-users.xml is used by Ent 8.
    I see the following in my configuration:
    1) apache-tomcat-5.5.15-embed/conf/tomcat-users.xml
    2) apache-tomcat-5.5.15/conf/tomcat-users.xml
    3) C:\Program Files\Sun\jstudio_ent8\ide\enterprise1\jakarta-tomcat-5.5.7\conf\tomcat-users.xml
    4) C:\Document and Settings\motel\.jstudio\Ent8\jakarta-tomcat-5.5.7_base\conf\tomcat-users.xml
    I assume the first two are some type of windows cached.
    Further, #3 I assume is initial or default tomcat-user file.
    So is #4 the file that I want to edit so that my IDE can work with Tomcat?

    Further, #3 I assume is initial or default tomcat-user file.I would agree with you; regarding the first two files, it is not clear how they came about since they don't seem to be in either the ide directory or ide-user directory; and also because the directories seem to point to a different version of tomcat, namely 5.15 instead of the ide-bundled 5.7... It is even possible that the first two are not related to JSE ide at all...
    Regarding 3 and 4, your guess is right; 3 is the initial installation directory. This directory is not used by the ide at all for actually working with the tomcat server; this is because the ide-userdir is customizable via the command-line. You can have several user directories at the same time and switch between them by running './runide.exe -userdir <this-sessions-user-dir>'. Naturally the different sessions cannot use the same tomcat server since that would lead to conflicts. So the ide first copies the server installation to the current user directory and then runs the tomcat from there.

  • ClassNotFound exception, when load own Customizer

    I have own BooleanCustomizer that implements DescriptorCustomizer, it's packed in the same jar as entity classes. It's registered in persistence.xml:

    Customizer works fine out of container - JUnit tests from Eclipse and Swing app. But in JSF app running on Tomcat, I get exception:

    It looks similar as:
    class not found exception - where to put custom session customizer?
    Any solution ?

    Which version are you using? A change was made recently to TopLink essentials to correct a classloader issue on session customizers.

  • Apache 2.0, Tomcat 4.0.3, No go...

    Hi,
    I've been trying to get Apache 2.0 and Tomcat 4.0.3 linked up so other computers on the network can access my intranet website test environment and run JSPs and servlets. Unfortunatly I have been unable to compile mod_webapp into a DLL (I keep missing out on some header files). Is there anyplace where I can obtain mod_webapp.dll all compiled and everything? The Jakarta Apache site seems to provide only the precompiled stuff which is useless to me.
    Also, could anyone please help me out by providing a small snippet of configuration lines that I need to change to make Apache 2.0 and Tomcat 4.0.3 operate together? It is unclear to me exactly what things I need to change in the httpd.conf file.

  • A question on tomcat

    This is not about java programming, but still I believe someone can offer clues.
    1 ) I have this URL : http://<host1>:8080/accs/checkTasks.do
    Whenever user raises request to this URL, I want this request to be routed to another URL like http://<anotherhost>:8080/taskManager/manageUserTasks.do.
    I think I need to configure or customize the code of tomcat in host1 in such a way.
    2) Also I want my tomcat to throw exception with different http status code as per configuration. For example, If I set http-status=500 in a property file or something, when request is made to my URL, container throws http 500 error.
    Any clues appreciated.

    Yes. correct. This is for simulation. I want to test how my client behaves when http 500 error occurs.I see. I think you can simply use setStatus() or sendError() to force a 500 status code.

    MDS requires Fusion Middleware and for this reason - other than personalization for user session - is not expected to work for servers where there is no FMW suport. Not sure this is your issue too, but this is what caused the thread in 2010 to fail

    Is there a way to customize the cobined column chart if I have 3 metrics and I want to specify different colors for each metric.
    Metric 1 - Bar - Blue color
    Metric 2 - Line - Red Color
    Metric 3 - Bar - Green color
    Is this do able in WebI. we are on SP 7 for Webi 4.0 and using SAP Bex Query.

    Custom palette colours in Webi 4.0 are tricky, but possible.

    Open C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\images\VisualizationConfig.template.xml
    Save the file as VisualizationConfig.xml
    Edit the colours as you please.
    Save the file.
    Restart Tomcat.
    Yeah, a tomcat restart to change colours. I'm sure this will be tidied up in a future version.

    No such luck on NLSBS9 follow instruction in
    /usr/share/doc/packages/apache2-jakarta-tomcat-connectors/README.SuSE
    I think SuSEconfig --module apache2 it's not working, because i customize
    test file /etc/tomcat/demoserver/jk.conf and can't browse the pages
