Customization on function level

Hi All,
I have a requirement as follows
a) Employee Self service (ESS)
b) eQ Employee Self service
(b) is the alias of the ESS. Both the responsibilities have same function like "Company Property".
I need to change the LOV query in the eQ Employee Self service not effecting on the ESS.
Is above requirement possible...?
Can body give some idea....
Thanks

if you are looking to change the LOV query then definatly you have to customization.
-- Develop external Lov Region for for your required query.
-- Render false old query region at responsibilty level.
-- Add external Lov Region using personalization at required responsibility level.
Thanks

  • Existing 2003 forest functional level -- 2012 forest functional level in production environment?

    Hello experts!
A quick question if it can be one:
Is it possible to raise a forest functional level from 2003 to 2012 in a production environment (only 2003 DCs with existing roles to only 2012 DCs)?  If so, is there a standard implementation of the upgrade process
(migration of roles, migration tools, etc.)?
    many thanks!
    David

    hi,
    Thanks for posting.
Sorry i don't know if i am understanding your question. Are you talking about upgrading your DC's in your current forest to 2012 then raising the functional level?
If so, first of all you can only raise the forest and domain functional levels when all DC's in the forest and domain are at 2012 or higher.
To get your domain unto 2012 DC's there are a couple of paths you can adopt, but generally the simplest is:
    1. Introduce your first 2012 / 2012 R2 DC into your existing domain, this will extend the schema with the additional attributes that are required to 2012 - this is an automatic process during promotion of your first 2012 DC.
    2. Go through and start replacing your existing domain controllers. You don't normally do an inlace upgrade, the preferred method would be to use different hardware, built up the new DC to replace your existing one, then demote the existing one - keep going
through this process until all your DC's are 2012.
NB: which ever DC(s) currently holds the FSMO roles you will need to transfer these to one of your new 2012 DC's before you decommission that one.
if i've got what you were asking wrong, please let me know, otherwise hopefully this helps.

  • Domain Functional Level: 2008 R2 to 2012 R2

My current forest and domain functional levels are 2008 R2. I know I can safely upgrade the functional levels in most cases, but I want to specifically know with regards to Lync.
Our entire environment, including Lync, is running on Windows Server 2012 R2. (We have no domain joined clients.)
Can I safely raise the forest and domain functional levels to 2012 R2 without impacting Lync?

you can easily upgrade the funtional level without any issues since you have all the Domain Controllers on Win server 2008R2.

  • Active Directory Volume Activation Services Forest Prep on 2003 Functional Level?

    Hello,
Please can anyone tell me if I can perform the steps outlined below when I have a mix of 2003 R2 and 2008 R2 domain controllers currently running on 2003 Functional Level.
My aim is to get AD Volume Activation Services running without needing to install a 2012 R2 DC and upgrade all my 2003 R2 DCs (which I have no control of), though I accept the schema update is a requirement for the AD Volume Activation Services aspect, where
    as KMS will still work?
    (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/99e94b1c-fe8a-4224-954b-2126994c9d0f/how-do-i-activate-kms-on-2012-in-a-2008-r2-domain?forum=winserver8setup)
    Steps to make this work:
Copy ALL files from <win2012 DVD>\support\adprep folder to a folder on server holding FSMO role for Forest/Domain
    Run "adprep.exe /forestPrep"
    Run "adprep.exe /domainPrep /forceReplicate"
Join 2012 server that VAS will be installed on to domain
Follow instructions, as needed, in VAS 2012 test lab guide here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh831794.aspx
    Thanks,
    Peter

    Hi,
As far as I know this role should be installed on Windows 2012, so without Windows 2012, we cannot do this.
AD DS must be at the schema level of Windows Server 2012 or newer to store activation objects. Domain controllers running earlier versions of Windows Server can activate clients after their schemas have been updated using the Windows Server 2012 version
    of Adprep.exe.

  • AD FS Across Differing Domain Functional Levels

My customer needs to implement AD FS for single sign on due to a cloud based email solution they recently implemented. The problem is, their domain controllers are Server 2003 (non-R2) at a functional level of 2003 mixed mode. They should be able to raise
to 2003 native if necessary however. Their solution is to create a new 2008 domain and implement a two-way trust, running AD FS in the new domain serving the clients in the 2003 domain.  This way should be quicker than upgrading their current domain
which would be a rather large project due to their size and complexity.
Are there any gotcha's I should know about with doing it this way?  I have verified that we can create the two-way trust between domains of these functional levels, and AD FS can service clients in a trusted domain, but I am not entirely sure if AD
FS will care that the trusted domain is 2003 non-R2.  Can anyone confirm if this will be a feasible scenario?
    Thanks very much!!
    Wraith

    Hi
    Wraith,
In addition, if you are not using Windows Server 2012 or above as ADFS server, you will be fine with Windows 2003 mixed mode.
“Since ADFS does not require Active Directory functional-level modifications to operate successfully. However, if you are using Windows NT token–based applications and
you want a token to be generated using Kerberos Service-for-User (S4U), the domain functional level must be Windows 2000 native or Windows Server 2003”, quoted form below article:

  • Windows server domain group membership with functional level 2003 - windows API

    Hello,
I am a programmer trying to get members of a global domain group using windows server 2008 enterprise edition,
in the past there wasn't a functional level 2003 on windows server, but when 2003 functional level appeared a new features were added like adding
a global group as a member to another global group in the domain,
in the past the API written could get the members if the member was a user, but it can't get a member if it was a global group.
I am using this API "NetGroupGetUsers" to get a members of a global domain group, and it gets the users but it doesn't get the
members if they were global groups...
I tried another API "NetLocalGroupGetMembers" it is getting a global group as a member but it is working only if the owner group was a local group on the server
or on another machine that is added to the server, but this API doesn't work if the owner group was a domain global group.
My question is how to get members of a global group including the members that are global groups too???
    Thanks,
    - Shomaf

    > I am using this API "NetGroupGetUsers" to get a members of a global
This interface is based on Win 2000, and since Win 2000 did not support
global group nesting, this interface does not, too...

  • Cannot Replicate after upgrading domain functional level

    Hello,
Parent and child domain. Parent domain (forest) still in domain functional level 2003. However, child domain i just updated to domain functional level 2008 R2. Now replication is not working. I believe the issue is dns, but i do not know what could be different
the names have not changed? This is a two way transitive trust between domains.
Frequent messages from dcdiag dns, are
no DNS RPC connectivity (although i have tried restarting dcom, netbios and frs)
Also in event viewer many 13508 errors
Any help is greatly appreciated thank you.

Have you restarted the DCs after that you raised the functional level? The password of the krbtgt account is reset when the DFL is raised from 2003 -> and sometimes the DCs need to be restarted for the authentication to succeed up to the root.
If you from a Windows Server 2008 R2 DC run dcdiag /test:dns /E dose it report any errors?

    xxxxxxx.local    server.xxxxxx.local    Windows Server® 2008 Standard 6.0 (6001)
    that I can

  • Windows Server Functional Level

If we change the functional level of one domain controller. replication will happen in all the domain under single forest or
we have to do manually in all domain under single forest. same question for forest too if we change in one forest it will happen with all forest and under its domain.

    Hi prm22mis,
Domain functionality enables features that will affect the entire domain and that domain only.
You can raise the domain functional level on the primary domain controller (PDC) emulator operations master only. The AD DS administrative tools that you use to raise the domain functional
level automatically target the PDC emulator when you arise the domain functional level.
Forest functionality enables features across all the domains within your forest.
You can raise the forest functional level on the schema operations master only. Active Directory Domains and Trusts automatically targets the schema operations master when you raise
    the forest functional level.

  • ADMT Error Functional Level not supported

    Hey there,
we are about to migrate to 2003-Domains to one 2012R2.
We installed ADMT Tand configured the prerequisites.
At initializing ADMT by migrating a global group, if i choose the pdc emulator of the source domain i got an error:
The domain functional level of the domain... is not supported...
Only a domain functional level higher than Windows 2000 is supported...
The Domain and Forest Level is 2003!?!
    Our Domain Names are:
    source1.customer.com (Netbios: Source1)
    source2.customer.com (Netbios: Source2)
    target.customer.com (Netbios: target)
My migration account is domain Admin in te target domain and member of built-in Administrators in the source domains...
The Auditing has been set, and also the
TcpipClientSupport  Values (should not be required, but i found some posts about it...)
AllowNT4Crypto in the target domain has also been set...
If i choose another dc in the source domain i amable to proceed and get an error after Group options with Migrate SID selected:
Could not verify auditing and TcpipClientSupport on domains. Will not be able to migrate SIDs; the given domain is not available, or no connection possible....
    any ideas?

    Hi ,
Based on your description, there are two issues you meet.
You choose the PDC as the source domain when migrating a global group, you get the below error,
The domain functional level of the domain... is not supported...
You migrate SID when you choose another DC, you get the below error,
Could not verify auditing and TcpipClientSupport on domains. Will not be able to migrate SIDs; the given domain is
not available, or no connection possible....
If I have misunderstood your concern please let me know.
As for the first issue, I suggest you need check
the function level of the SOURCE domain. here is detail step,
Logon one of the source DCs and open the ADCU
Right click the domain name and select the properties
You can see the function level of your source domain
As for the second issue, it is about SID history
migration, here I give you the steps for you check,
Enable auditing of Account Management in the Target domain and source domain
Create a domain local group called <domain>$$$ in source domain
Create the following registry entry on the source domain
    PDC
    HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\LSA\TcpipCientSupport: DWORD : 0x1
If you need further assistance, please feel free to contact me.

  • Lync 2010 functional level

    Hi!
My Enterprise wants to know if this supported  Lync Server (UM 14.01, Front End
4.0, Mediation 4,0)  to continue operating if the client update your AD DS environment with AD DS Windows Server domain controllers 2012 R2 and raise the functional level of the domain and the forest from 2003 to 2012 R2.
    have a link bout of??
    Thanks.

You must raise all domains in which you deploy Lync Server 2010 to a domain functional level of Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008, or at least Windows Server 2003 native mode. Windows Server 2003 mixed mode is not supported.
All forests in which you deploy Lync Server 2010 must be raised to a forest functional level of Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008, or at least Windows Server 2003 native mode. Windows Server 2003 mixed mode is not supported.
Lync 2013 Support domain and forest Function level 2012R2 but Lync 2020 support domain and forest function level 2008R2.

  • Domain / Forest functional levels

I've done some research but really need someone to tell me I've got this right in my head...
I've got 2 domains in the forest, the forest functional level is 2003. Here's the setup:
    domain1.local
    root domain
    2 DCs running W2K8R2
    DFL - 2003
    domain2.local
    1 DC running W2012R2
1 DC running W2K3 (soon to be retired)
    DFL - 2003
Can I upgrade the DFL of domain1 to 2008R2?
Can I upgrade the FFL to 2008R2 while maintaining trust?
Do the domain and forest functional levels have to match?
