Customize Advanced Search Options - Permission Set

I'm looking for a way to customize the Advanced Search Options on a per user (or permission set) basis, is there anyway to do that?
Idea here is we have multiple clients accessing our final cut server system and would like to customize their advanced searches to include only their metadata information and not other clients metadata information.

No, there is only one Asset Filter group. I'd like to see differentiation from the Subscription and Search Expired filters and the advanced search, and I placed a bug report to that end. You should do the same. Call it an "Enhancement".

  • Adobe Reader: Missing Advanced Search Options

I am using Adobe Reader XI (probably Standard) and trying to perform regular expression searches. When I go to Advanced Search (Ctrl-Shift-F) and click "Show More Options" I would expect to see the following options in the "Return results containing:" drop-down list:
    Match Exact Word or Phrase
    Match Any of the Words
    Match All of the Words
    Boolean Query
The only two that appear are "Match Exact Word or Phrase" and "Match Any of the Words." The remaining two are not in the list. Without "Boolean Query" I cannot perform regular expression searches which is very helpful in filtering irrelevant results, especially in documents thousands of pages long.
    Where are the other options?

    Well, thanks.
Thought I had tried that, but went back and found it. So, Adobe assumes the only time I want/can/should perform a regular expression search is only when searching through and entire directory, and that there's no reason I should expect to do the same within a current document.
    IMHO, that is utterly ridiculous.

  • I generally use Firefox instead of IE and have set google as my homepage. This google does not have an advanced search option/link as the google page I get using IE. Why not? Do I have to start using IE now to use this feature?

The google homepage using Firefox and IE are not the same. Some features are missing -- features that I like to use. Why?

    Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.

To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

    Hi Roel,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
To customize Instant Search options by using Group Policy
    - In Group Policy, load the Office Outlook 2007 template (Outlk12.adm).
    - To customize how results are displayed, under
User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Microsoft Office Outlook 2007\Tools | Options\Preferences\Search Options, double-click the setting that you want to set. For example, double-click Turn off wordwheel.
    - Click Enabled. For hit highlighting color, choose a color from the Background Color drop-down list.
    - Click OK.

  • Unable to turn on Advanced Search for viewing PDFs (v9.1) through IE7

Our company is currently using Acrobat 9.1 and Internet Explorer 7.
We have multiple PDF document sets set up to be searched using index files. The Index feature can only be accessed using the Advanced Search option of Acrobat Reader or Pro 9.1.
When we access the documents via our internal network, the advanced searching works fine. We can easily set the user's Acrobat Reader (or Writer) to have the Advanced Search option enabled.
However, if our users try to access these documents via our company's intranet web pages, the Acrobat Reader Interface plug-in (acropdf.dll?) of IE7 is fixed to only use the Basic Search option. Users are only able to search the active PDF.  I have not found a way to enable the the Advanced Search option using the Adobe / IE7 interface.
Not that long ago, we thought this option was available.
Is there a way to turn this feature on or at least allow it to be enabled?
    Thanks Much!

    Hello,
This may be of interest to anyone whose had the Advanced Search Problem (or the mis-linking problem mentioned below) using the current Acrobat Plugin to IE7.
I think I have found a workaround for this problem (and another we've found). I've been having users test this out over the past couple of weeks and it's working fine.
    Problem #1
Being unable to use index searching across multiple documents with the Acrobat Reader 9.1 plug-in interface running from within Internet Explorer version 7.0.    This current plug-in interface disallows setting up the Advanced Index Search feature that groups within our company use.
    Problem #2
Links in PDF A are not properly linking to desired pages (link targets) in PDF B.  Any links in PDF A will only take the user to Page 1 of PDF B.   This occurs when any PDF links to a certain page (other than page 1) in another targeted PDF.
    Solution:
Set the user's (many users in my case) Acrobat Reader (or Pro) to only open web based PDFs into the stand-alone Acrobat interface using the Accessibility Setup Assistant.
    In Adobe Reader:
Go to Document | Accessibility Setup Assistant.
Advance through the dialogs to Screen 5 of 5.
Turn OFF the feature Display PDF documents in web browser.
         Select Done.
         Exit Adobe reader.
    In Adobe Acrobat Pro:
Go to Advanced | Accessibility | Setup Assistant ...
Advance through the dialogs to Screen 5 of 5.
Turn OFF the feature Display PDF documents in web browser.
         Select Done.
    Result:
Any PDFs embedded in a web page (environment) will open up in a new session of Acrobat (Reader or Pro) on the users desktop.
Searching via indexes works great and there are no linking problems between PDFs.
It may not be an optimal solution, but is working fine for our folks that access our files via our company's intranet.
The only drawback I see is that you lose focus of the IE7 session and have to work outside of it's containment.  Although it is easy to set it back to the way it worked previously.
If anyone has any questions or comments, please let me know.  I'm open to any improvements we can make to our process.
    Thanks!
    Dave

  • KM folders as drop-down on advanced search

    HI All,
When user hits the advanced search option, there is option of restricting search to folders and sub-folders.
This is available in the folder structure. How can this be made to appear on a drop-down option. The user wants to have it in the same way as the sdn search options wherein the search can be restricted based on the dropdown of category/folders.
    Please advise.
    Thanks and regards,
    Arun

    Hi Arun,
This is what SDN Advanced Search provides.
Next to the Search term, it provides the option to select an index as a Dropdown choice. Below the search bar, it gives an option to filter the search result through a set of defined filter values like Product etc. This means that the content has been Meta Data tagged for the values represented by the check boxes.
If you select a checkbox, then the result set displayed to you will be filtered according to that.
What you basically need to do, is to define multiple indexes according to your needs and then define meta data properties which are assigned to each document / folder. This way you can achieve what you need.
I hope this helps, if it does, then please award points in SDN.
    cheers,
    Shantanu

  • Outlook 2103 modify search options via registry

    Hello all.
I need to to enable the:
Include results only from: Current folder.Current mailbox when searching from the inbox.
so that when users search with inbox as their focused folder they search their whole mailbox.I need to apply this setting to over 100 Outlook users so I was wondering if this could be done via a registry setting and then have it applied via logon script.Any
    ideas are welcome.
    Thanks in advance.

That option is set in Options -> Search -> Results -> Include results only from.  The setting is saved in the DefaultSearchScope value under the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Search key.

  • 5.0.1 search options?

I noticed after installing 5.0.1, when I click on the little magnifying glass inside the "search" field it does not give me the options to search for "artist, album, song, advanced."
It used to give me those options before 5.0.1. Is this something that has been reported?
    Thanks,
    Mark

is that what you see when you try this?
Yes. What you describe is what I see in 5.0.1.4. The feature described by #3 is new and might be useful. However, the behavior described in #2 is a tremendous feature loss.
In 4.9 (or whatever the prior version was), you could click the little maginifying glass image and limit your search to song name, artist name, album name, etc. The new little menu bar thing described in #3 provides this to some extent. (It's quite a bit different when set to "artist" or "album."). But, gone is the "advanced search" option which was available under the magnifying glass. This let you search for a song where the artist was "xxx" and the song name was "yyy."
Maybe they intended to get rid of "advanced search" (and all the other choices available via the magnifying glass).
    Thanks,
    Mark

  • Open Switches using advanced search

    Hi
I have integrated some Acrobat open parameters in a JavaScript which should search some keywords after opening the PDF document.
    Like this:
    http://example.org/doc.pdf#search="word1 word2"
This works fine so far, only that it would not accept several words (any of the keywords should fit), if the Reader is not set to allow search by several keywords in the advanced search options of the reader. Otherwise, the reader's search is taking the words as one phrase and would not deliver any search results.
Does anyone know, if it is possible to configure the advanced search options by an open parameter (switch) adding to the link above?
    Thanks

  • Lookup in advanced search

    Hi
I'm trying to modify the Asset Advanced Search Options in the main window of the FCSvr client. I want to use lookups (aka pop-up or drop-down) as part of the search alternative. Let's say I want the user to be able to search for HD video clips. For this I want a lookup field named "Resolution" that has three alternative, All, HD and SD.
But when I try to create this field I get a search fields with one lookup with the altenative All, Equals and Not Equals, and next to this I get another lookup with the alternative None, HD and SD. What I want is only one lookup in this search field, with the alternative All, HD and SD. Does anyone know if this is possible, and if so, how do I achieve this?
    Christer

Thanks for your reply. I suspected that this was the case.
The strange thing though, is that among the default advanced search options there's a field, Metadata Filtering, that actually has this layout. In this field there is only one lookup. The default is "Do not include log & capture metadata", and then there is two more, "Include log & capture metadata" and "Only include log & capture metadata". Also, strangely, if I open "Filter Mode", that is the lookup for Metadata Filtering, the alternative "Do not include log & capture metadata" isn't even there.
Anyway, I was hoping for a layout for filtering in Advanced Search as e.g. http://www.beyondtheline.org/Video/ but I guess I have to rethink.

  • Message about uncommitted changes in advanced search

If the advanced search option is used, and one or more fields are filled in, and the search button is clicked, then a message occurs: "The page you are about to leave has uncommitted changes ...".

You can register items that should be ignored for this uncommitted changes message using the following javascript call:
    <script text="addToIgnoreChangedFields(['<item1>','<item2>']);"/>
    For example:
    <script text="addToIgnoreChangedFields(['FindDepartmentsDepartmentId','FindDepartmentsDepartmentName','FindDepartmentsManagerId','FindDepartmentsLocationId','FindDepartmentsManagerName','FindDepartmentsEmployeeId',]);"/>
So, make sure that all items in the find region are added to the ignore list through this javascript call.

  • Thesaurus in advanced search

We are writing a custom search using the advanced search but want to use the thesaurus with it. I know it only works with the banner search but is there a way to include it in advanced search......
    Ray

Yes. Add the URL parameter in_hi_req_thesaurus=1to the end of each advanced search URL that should use the thesaurus (you should be able to try this in your browser to verify that it works). Or, if you want every advanced search query to use the thesaurus automatically, write an advanced search PEI that sets the value of PT_SEARCHSETTING_THESAURUS to Boolean.TRUE.

  • SRM 7.0 Advanced Search Object Type

    Dear All,
We use SRM 7.0, I want to remove some object types from Advanced Search options in Portal. For example, in standard advanced search, you can select shopping card, confirmation, purchase order, contract... etc. And i dont want some emplyees to see all purchase order or contracts.
How am i going to delete for example purchase order option from advanced search ?
    Best regards,

    Hi
Advanced search drop down menu is based on SPRO configuration
SRM server -- Cross application basic settings -- POWL and Adv search
Here Standard object types will be defined as SAP entries under define objects types for advanced search.
Also, default application will be assigned for each object types.
If you deleted any of these standard object types, then that object type will not be available in advanced search for any SRM roles. However, that is not advisable to deleted standard objects.
Alternatively, if you want restrict certain group of users to access the some object types, you can control through the configuration powl_queryR which is query visibility at role level.
You can control the the same at user level if you want through powl_queryU

  • Advanced Search Web Part

    Hi Everyone,
Does anyone know where I can find the Advanced Search web part in 2013? I have used this web part many times in SharePoint 2007 and 2010 but can't seem to find it in 2013. Did Microsoft remove or rename it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Dan
    Dan Marth

    Hi,
According to your description, you could not find advanced search web part in SharePoint 2013.
For SharePoint 2010, the advanced search web part is in the default page of Search Center.
For SharePoint 2013, the advanced search web part is at the bottom of the search result page.
You may need to search something firstly and then you can see the Advanced Search Option at the bottom of the page.
Feel free to reply if there are still any questions.
    Best regards
