Return to Customize Chart Page With Parameters
I have a chart with some parameters and the customization page of this chart is being opened from a menu. The chart runs fine after entering the values for those parameters in the customization page. Now I have a link in the chart (after it runs) to return to this customization page (using CHART_NAME.SHOW_PARMS) but the customization page is blank (all the values entered are gone). I want to keep those values when it is opened thru' link from the chart. Is there a way to do this?..Help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Passing parameters on a page for customize chart
On the customize screen of a chart I have, i can select startdate and enddate. I want users to be able to do that on one page.
So on top of the page a portlet with the two date-select fields. And beneath that a portlet with a chart. Once the user changes a date, the chart has automaticcaly rebuild itself with the new parameters.
Thanks.Hi,
You can call the customization form in a dynamic page and publish the dynamic page as a portlet on a page. In the same page you can publish the chart portlet.
You can also refer to this for more details on how to do it.

How to customize charts in RTF for BI Publisher
Hello Experts
How can an existing chart in RTF template be customized ?
Can I change the properties of a chart such that values along the Y-axis in the chart are displayed in the reverse order ?
Thanks in Advance.
Amrith.Hello Rainer
I've tried what you told but I was only able to sort the values on the X-axis but not the Y-axis. The following is my XML definition of the chart. Can you please let me know where can I add the tag order="descending" in my definition.
X-axis has the values of 'ACTIVITY DATE' and
Y-axis has the values of 'SALES'
chart:
<Graph graphType="LINE_VERT_ABS" seriesEffect="SE_AUTO_GRADIENT"><LegendArea visible="false"/>
<Title text="" visible="true" horizontalAlignment="CENTER"/>
<LocalGridData colCount="{count(xdoxslt:group(.//ROW, 'ACTIVITY_DATE1'))}" rowCount="1">
<ColLabels>
<xsl:for-each-group xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" select=".//ROW" group-by="ACTIVITY_DATE1">
<xsl:sort select="current-group()/ACTIVITY_DATE1"/>
<Label>
<xsl:value-of select="current-group()/ACTIVITY_DATE1"/>
</Label>
</xsl:for-each-group>
</ColLabels>
<DataValues>
<RowData>
<xsl:for-each-group xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" select=".//ROW" group-by="ACTIVITY_DATE1">
<xsl:sort select="current-group()/ACTIVITY_DATE1"/>
<Cell>
<xsl:value-of select="sum(current-group()/SALES)"/>

</RowData>

Customize Chart or Grid?
Hi there!. I'm new to Flex in this version, and I have to
make a hard chart.
It's a time line , that describes all projects in the present
year, with their status (the color of the name's text describes
that)
Here's the HTTP link to the JPG so you can see better.

I'm already working with itemrender property, but any
direction would be appreciated.
Thanks!!

Hello -
I am looking to customize the Dynamic Charts that can be generated by an Interactive Report. For instance, I would like to be able to set a minimum value for the bar chart value axis. I have searched the forum for term such as 'IR Chart Customization', 'Interactive Report Customize', 'Interactive Report Customize Charts', et al and it appears that either there is a lack of information about the topic or the search algorithm and I don't speak the same language. I've waded through page after page of irrelevant search results.
So, I turn to everyone here. Does anybody have any idea where I should begin to look for making slight changes to the Dynamic Charts of an IR? I realize that much of the code is probably generated by a procedure or function likely in a package. I'm just looking for a starting place to begin this journey. I am fully aware that this may be an exercise in futility, but you can't blame me for trying to develop an application that will meet the needs of my organization.
Many thanks.
AustinHi Mehabub,
As Krunal has already correctly stated, it isn't possible to write a separate chart query with links for an Interactive Report chart. Only the attributes exposed via the Actions > Format > Chart menu are available for IR charts.
To have more control over your chart, you would need to create a separate chart region on your page, which would expose a much wider variety of chart types and attributes to you....and allow you to generate a drill down chart.

Hi,
I have two questions about the behavior of labels in pie charts:
Question 1:
When I format pie chart labels as 'NameandValue', the result in the label pie chart always appears as 'Value' and then 'Name', how can I change this?
Question 2:
I have several pie charts, that overlap labels, how can I customize charts in order for that never to occur?In order to achieve that you will need to change the pcxml files controlling the pie chart (since the chart is actually produced by the Corda engine)
They are in
\\OracleBI\web\app\res\s_oracle10\popbin
and for oc4j in:
\\OracleBI\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\applications\analytics\analytics\res\s_oracle10\popbin
I don't have all the variables available off the top of my head, but John posted a quite exhaustive list:

How can I view free-response text answers in the Summary Report of FormsCentral?
Can we view full individual free-responses in the Summary Report of FormsCentral?
One of the only things that keeps me using Survey Monkey occasionally over FormsCentral is that I can't find a way for FormsCentral to show users' free-response answers in the Summary Report. Survey Monkey produces all the customizable charts and graphs and also provides a "Show Free Reponses" or "Show all responses" option so you can view/report those details under the question summary, as well as the numbers. I would prefer to use FormsCentral for everything, so I hope I'm not missing something obvious. But, if this functionality doesn't exist yet on FormsCentral, this would be a really helpful enhancement in the future.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can point me to a solution!Hi;
Your observation is correct, the text responses are not shown as text in the Summary Report.
We do have a Form where you can vote on existing Feature Requests or add a new one of your own: https://adobeformscentral.com/?f=XnF-KJVCovcEVQz9tZHYPQ

Help to create complex graphs in oracle 10g reports
As my company has migrated from 6i to Oracle 10g, but as graph ogd files are obselete in Oracle 10g , I am trying to create new graphs in Oracle 10g.
But problem I am facing that I cannot give axis value 'LABEL' or define my own scale or draw any lines on chart or inshort plot graph as I need. Moreover no way to read objects on Chart. In forms 6i it was easy to read object with command "OG_GET_OBJECT(OBJECT_NAME)". Helps tell me to use graph.dtd but I am unable to use it or I don't know how to use it. No documentation available anywhere how to use graph.dtd syntax.
Is it possible to achieve my above goals or any other tools to customize charts.
PrashantHello FormsEleven,
First of all very Thanks for reply. Thanks for your valuable time given to me.
I don't have any error in my java/jinit console infact latest jinit is running and web browser start with message applet are being loaded and Oracle forms service installed successfully. All other forms details are very well displayed on browser form, only bean area remains empty. Following are my formsweb.cfg details. Note on below [bigraph] section I have commented some lines but that also done after my form did not work.

Fast way to compare strings in a log file
I am having a log file ( contains more than 100,000 lines) based on system statistics for a time period. For each time point I am logging 12 sets of data each set starts with a tag /**START**/ and ends with a tag /**END**/. I would like to know the best and fast way to read from the log file and prepare records for each set for a specific time period.
Currently I am reading from the file using BufferedReader.readLine() method and compare the tags and distribute the data sets accordingly....
any suggestions...?Yes You are right.... I am doing the string parsing after reading each line... May be that is taking much time.. since we are providing an option to customize chart list, I have to process all the lines and distribute the data accordingly before preparing the charts. Some data set (between START & END) contains upto 256 lines and some single line... Here is a sample format....

ColumnChart color depending on the value of the column
Hi,
I'va been trying for 2 days to change the colors of columnseries in a columnchart and it is actually awful. I've tried to do it inline without custom itemRenderer but I quickly understood that it is impossible. I then looked on the internet, and found that it was maybe possible by creating a custom itemRenderer class, extending ProgrammticSkin and implementing IdataRenderer.
I have tried but am not at all able to retrieve the value of the column inside the itemRenderer. Even more, the so called _chartItem is always null and never never carries anything from anyparent.
I'm a bit exhausted of trying and getting this value, so if you have some idea, i'll be very grateful.
Here is the code for my itemRenderer class:
import flash.display.Graphics;
import flash.geom.Rectangle;
import mx.charts.ChartItem;
import mx.charts.chartClasses.GraphicsUtilities;
import mx.charts.series.items.ColumnSeriesItem;
import mx.controls.Alert;
import mx.core.IDataRenderer;
import mx.graphics.IFill;
import mx.graphics.IStroke;
import mx.skins.ProgrammaticSkin;
public class ColorRenderer extends ProgrammaticSkin implements IDataRenderer
public function ColorRenderer():void
super();
private var _chartItem:ChartItem;
public function get data():Object
return _chartItem;
public function set data(value:Object):void {
_chartItem = value as ColumnSeriesItem;
invalidateDisplayList();
private static const fills:Array = [0xFF0000,0x00FF00,0x0000FF,
0x00FFFF,0xFF00FF,0xFFFF00,
0xAAFFAA,0xFFAAAA,0xAAAAFF];
override protected function
updateDisplayList(unscaledWidth:Number,unscaledHeight:Number):void {
super.updateDisplayList(unscaledWidth, unscaledHeight);
var g:Graphics = graphics;
g.clear();
g.beginFill(fills[(_chartItem == null)? 0:_chartItem.element.y]);
Alert.show(_chartItem.index.toString());
g.drawRect(0, 0, unscaledWidth, unscaledHeight);
g.endFill();
} // Close class.
} // Close package.
Thank youIt worked, thanks

Subject: Flex ColumnChart color depending on the value of the column
Have you looked at doing per-item fills?

This feature lets you define a function that customizes chart item fills based on their values.

Hi,all,
I need to decide what is top session in a DB, to see how much it would consume resource in that server. When I use TOAD to do it, I find these are so many factors when I make dicision. such as "CPU used by","Physical write" ...
That means "It is top session sort by CPU used by". So I want to know those essential factors, by which certain session would consume much resource.
Do you have any advice? Are there any scripts on hand to do this job,except third-part tool like TOAD?
RobinHowever when I want to work with the top sessions I use the Performance Manager ( This is part of OEM ). These are its advices and descriptions.
Top SessionsSessions are displayed in descending order based upon the delta value of the statistic chosen as the sort statistic. This is a customizable chart that allows sorting and filtering of sessions based upon a number of user settable criterion.Typically the session that is performing the most I/O is the session that should be targetted for tuning. To identify the SQL statement the session is currently executing you can drill down to the Current SQL Chart. From this drilldown you can choose to tune the SQL statement directly.Complete detailed information about any session can be found by selecting the session and drilling down to the Session Details Chart. This chart allows you to view the current SQL statement as well as resource consumption and performance metrics at the same time.The list of all cursors the session has currently open is available through the Open Cursors For This Session Chart. This helps identify all the SQL statements the session is using. From this chart SQL statements can be selected for tuning further drilldown and analysis.This chart can be used to create a customized Top Sessions view. All of the available statistics and identifiers for sessions are shown in a large table by default. By using the Set Options button in the toolbar the chart can be customized to show only the items of interest and the sort criteria can be changed. Customized charts can then be saved, named and accessed directly by name. Specific advice for each of the data items shown on this chart is available below.This chart includes the following data items:
Session NameDescription This data item represents either the Oracle username of the current session or, if the session is owned by an Oracle background process, the name of the background process. Data Source select NVL(s.username, b.name) from v$session s, v$bgprocess b User Action The session name is useful in determining which database users are consuming the most resources. If there is a need to prevent a particular session from consuming too much, one way to control resource usage is to create a resource profile. This profile can then be applied to the Oracle user specified in the session name. The profile provides hard limits on any resource that is explicitly added to it. Some of the resources that can be controlled with profiles are cpu usage, idle time, connect time, etc.
OS UsernameDescription This data item represents the name of the operating system client user. That is the username reported at the time of the database connection time from the operating system. Data Source select osuser from v$session User Action The operating system username can be useful if more than one OS user shares a particular Oracle account (such as SYSTEM). If the session name is not unique, the OS username may provide the identity of the user for the session.
and so on...
Do you have OEM ?

Hi Gurus
After completing the initail preparation phase like blue printing and getting sign off on data model we need to activate the BC.If I want to activate 0PUR_C01.What steps I should follow? and where? Also Is it the correct time to create customize chart.or key fig to make up of GAPs.?
Once we finish modelling how much data we need to load for testing and what do we do in unit testing actually? Which are the possible erroers occur in this phase?
How can we differentiate between normal ABAP coding and most optimized coding?
Your early answers will be much appreciated.
ThanksHi,
Set the Collection mode "Start Manual Collection".
In Grouping Select "Data flow before".
You have to drag the 0PUR_C01 and push it right window.
Click the Gather the Objects (it will look like "Execute" Button).
By this you will get all the infoobjects,transfer rules and infsources.(I doubt whether you will get the ODS.If the update rules of 0PUR_C01 is based on ODS then you have to collect it separately.But I think this cube is updated directly.The problem is you don't know which is the ODS for a cube.You can get it from Meta Data Repository.)
You can set the source system (Yellow Button next "CTO") by which your source system assignments will be over.
With this you will be able to do the Extraction.
For Queries and Workbooks you have to select "Data Flow after" in the grouping.
Look at the infocube and find any gaps are there and you can add those keyfigures and characteristics.
Accordingly you should modify your datasources also at the R/3.
Prepare the Customization Chart.
The data load for testing should be derived from the daily data load for a particular document.If you are doing daily extraction you should consider the day volume and if it is hourly then hourly load in R/3 and so on.
First you have to load the master data and then Transaction data. If not you will find performance issues.
Check the datatypes and lengths in R/3 and accordingly your infocube should have the design.
I don't have much idea about ABAP so I am sure you will get some others advice.
Finally award points if I my suggesstions are working.

Hello,
I'm an Oracle DBA thats slowly learning Apex. our company wants to use Apex for forms and various reports. I have absolutely no XML, Java, HTML or any such knowledge that would be usefule for webdesigners. i rely mostly on the settings Apex provides, but i'm learning a few tricks here and there.
my question is, how to customize/edit charts? here are open issues:
- i have a 3D stacked bar chart (flash chart). i want to be able to
- add a line to this chart for the same data. the line can be a "trendline" or some fixed value. i saw a website (AnyChart) that offers this soultion, but have no idea how to incorporate this. in any case, i did some tests, and it didn't work.
- changing the Legend: we want to be able to change the order of the legend, so that it fits the chart! seems like a simple thing, but Apex does not offer this. it shows the legend in reverse order to the chart.
Also, the Legend seems to fix a capital letter to the first character of a word, the rest is small.
ex: we want a legend definition "AA KCOO" and we get "Aa Kcoo". we define this in the SQL Query, but it doesn't accept this.
i suppose all this can be changed in XML coding, but how, and more important, why? shouldn't a tool like this have that option of changing these things? the GUI tool seems so limited here. its nice that you can customize in XML, but i think these are missing options..
can anyone help, or guide me to the right documentation?
thanks,
mikeHi Dimitri,
thanks for the tip.
first of all, getting the item in like you mentioned did not work. i tried with and without the single quotes
without quotes (<line value=&P8_LINIE etc) gives me an "XML Error was malformed" message, and with the quotes (<line value='&P8_LINIE' etc) gives me a completely differnt number! it draws a line at the very top of the scale, fixed at 160 in my case.
i did another tes, redoing the flash chart in a different region. exact same error, only this time, since i set my y- axis max value at 180, then the line was drawn at the top again - so it seems like the line is automatically drawn at the place where the chart value was defined for maximum...
oh well, no idea where this comes from...
as far as Anychart goes - i took a look at the website - it costs a fair bit for this newer version! for one developer license 500 USD, for 4 developers 1000 USD!
my question is: will a future Apex have the newer version? would it make sense to buy this or should we wait until Apex 4.0 comes out?
i have since discovered another thorny issue with Apex charts, but i will open a new thread for that. see my "remove marker from 2D Line flash chart" thread
so far, i'm quite frustrated at the lack of modification options available to this GUI tool. perhaps in future versions, Apex graphs will be better...
