Customize default Start Page
Hello,
I want to add the create and open web site commands to the default Visual Studio start page (2013 or 2015). Is it available anywhere to be edited? (I remember doing it in older versions.) I have only found hints on how to create one from
scratch.
Thanks,
Jan
Hello Jan,
Thank you for your detailed explaination.
When you see the
Start Page link you showed, you can find this:
To test a custom Start Page
Press F5.
The experimental instance of Visual Studio opens with the new Start Page installed but not selected.
In the experimental instance of Visual Studio, on the Tools menu, click
Options.
In the Options dialog box, under Environment, select
Startup. Then, on the Customize Start Page list, select your .xaml file, and click
OK.
On the View menu, click Start Page.
The working Start Page is displayed. You must close the experimental instance, re-copy any changed files, and then re-open the experimental instance to see new changes.
This means you can choose the new created XAML as your start page. So it is possible for any user to use your custom start page, as a result, the new customed page will be the default startpage. In this way, it seems it is already meet your need. Does it
make any difference and do you have any reason that you need to do this?
Best regards,
Barry

User Defined Default Starting Page
Hopefully an easy question...what table holds the user defined default starting page? Specifically in 11g.
Thanks!Hi,
Tried to set default dashboard for all the users.
1. Created a session init block
2. Used data source as select '/shared/SH Test/_portal/Test1' from dual
3. Assigned this value to PORTALPATH session variable
4. In Presentation services > Administration > My account > Default dashboard should be set to 'default'. Then only the dashboard specified in init block will be displayed otherwise My account will override the init block.
5. Save the changes made to rpd.
5. Logout and relogin to see if it is working fine. it is working perfectly fine.
For details please refer the GSC replication document. But it is for all the users.
if customer would like to have user/group based home page.
1. They may need to have 2 separate tables.
i. Group_path_tab with 2 columns. Group_id, portal_path
Have group wise portal path for all the groups
ii. User-group map table
Group_id, Group_name, user_id
User should be part of some group.
2. Then in the init block write the sql should be something like this
select A.portal_path from Group_path_tab A, User_group_map B
where B.user_id = :USER
and B.Group_id = A.Group_id
SO based on USER session variable, it will try to identify the group and then the portal_path.
Finally assign this value to PORTALPATH session variable.
xample:
Kindly refer the below one..it will very helpful to set homepage for to be different on a per user/group basis
http://varanasisaichand.blogspot.com/2010/09/default-dashboard-using-portalpath.html
http://total-bi.com/2011/01/obiee-11g-change-default-dashboard/
i.e:
Init block
select '/shared/AFS/_portal/GPC AFS Reporting' from dual
Variable target is PORTALPATH (IT'S CASE SENSITIVE)
'/shared/AFS/_portal/GPC AFS Reporting'
finally it's be like this
actual (earliar one)
http://w01sgpcbiapp1a:9704/analytics/saw.dll?dashboard&PORTALPATH=&/shared/AFS/_portal/GPC AFS Reporting
after calling default one :
http://w01sgpcbiapp1a:9704/analytics/saw.dll?dashboard&PortalPath=%2Fshared%2FAFS%2F_portal%2FGPC%20AFS%20Reporting

How to customize default login page of FBA
Hi,
I have implemented a SharePoint 2013 Portal with Form Based Authentication.
I want to customize the look and feel of default login page.
How could i do that?Hi,
For your requirement, you can take a look at the three links below for a quick start:
http://sivarajan.me/post/SharePoint-2013-Enabling-Custom-Login-Page-and-Mixed-Contents-Part-2

What’s more, The deafult login page is located here: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\TEMPLATE\IDENTITYMODEL\LOGIN\default.aspx, you can
make a copy and modify it.

Customize the start-page of firefox
I want to know how I can customize the start-up page of my firefox. For start-up page, I am talking about the page shown defaultly as I run the firefox.exe on my windows system and not talking about the home page set by a user(for e.g., if google.com set as home page for firefox).
I am not very sure what to call that page as, thus referring it as startup-page for the browser. Also attaching the snapshot for the page which I want to customize, just to clear the confusion, if any.
I want to make the changes only on my local computer, and as firefox is open source, hope its not illegitimate to do so. Kindly let me know how I can do this, if possible.
Thankyoucor-el posted the "location" of the default homepage - in the '''omni.ja''' file within the Firefox program files folder. I can't tell anything more specific as I haven't been the omni.ja file since it was "new" in Firefox 4.0.
omni.ja gets updated with every Firefox version update - so you'll lose whatever changes you made every 6 weeks ''or possibly sooner with a "chemspill" security update. Which is why I learned to do minor changes with userChrome or userContent css file instead.'' -
Firefox default start page uses facemoods search engine instead of google
Hi, I have issue with Firefox. Today I’ve notice that when I’m using search option on default Firefox 4.0 start page (about:home), results are displayed with Facemoods search engine instead of Google. I have uninstalled Facemoods from system and Firefox, yet it didn't work.
I haven't heard of this one before. The uninstall must have left behind a few settings.
The page corresponding to "about:home" must be set in a hidden preference. You can search for and reset it using the about:config feature.
(1) Type or page '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter (click the button promising to be careful, and please be careful)
(2) In the filter box, type or paste '''facemoods''' and pause while Firefox searches
(3) The bolded lines show changes from the original Firefox setup. Some you might want to save, but mostly you would want to reset them to default. Right-click each one you want to change and choose Reset.
This blog post describes an additional fix for the address bar search feature if you use that: [http://www.flywithmysoul.com/2010/09/remove-facemood-from-firefox.html Fly With Me: Remove Facemood From Firefox].
Finally, I found a very long cleanup guide on the Spybot S&D forums which might be useful if the above doesn't solve it: [http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=61616 Manual Removal Guide for Toolbar.Facemood - Safer-Networking Forums].

Firefox hangs on the default Start Page
Hey.
I'm having a rather odd problem where Firefox hangs for about ten seconds while loading the default home page. It has worked just fine for years, and then suddenly yesterday every time I open a new tab or start Firefox (basically anything that would take me to the start page,) I get a 10-15 second hang.
I've confirmed this by changing the homepage to the old "http://www.google.com/firefox" which completely fixes the issue. No other pages do it, only the start page.
I've tried safe mode, but I knew it wouldn't yield any results as I've not changed configuration in any way for years.
I've tried updating to the most recent version of Firefox, this also had no effect.
I tried backing up my profile and resetting Firefox, of course still no effect.
Finally I tried completely uninstalling all Mozilla products, then sweeping the registry for any of their keys, then reinstalling it all. Still hangs on the start page.
So that this point I just restored my backed up profiles, scratched my head and came here.
The obvious solution would be to change homepage, but I can't let it beat me. =P
Anyone have any ideas? I'm pretty stumped at this point.-Pokes up- I did, and its reply is simply 0 then does nothing.
My firefox version is also not old, I just downloaded a new instillation trying to fix this. -
I've had the default Toshiba partnerpage with Google as my homepage for the last 2 years, which I had personalized to include a notepad in which I jotted down my to-do list, or other little data points I wanted to remember. Recently, Toshiba has revamped this homepage - WITHOUT ANY WARNING - and now I can't find my notepad, which had some info which now seems to be lost.
Can anyone tell me if its possible to recover the info on my notepad (or even my entire old homepage...I don't like the new one at all!)? HELP!!!Unfortunately, that is NOT ehe start page that people are complaining about losing. If you had actually read the entire thread prior to posting you would have known that the link you provided is to a different start page, not the one that was discontinued 4 years ago. That start page hasn't been available since the the partner who provided the page stopped doing so with people losing information that they had saved on a notepad or sticky type note on that page because they had failed to keep a copy of that information anywhere else.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time. -

How to set the default start page (login) of apex itself?
Hi!
I've successfully upgraded from 3.2 to 4.0! I'm using the pl/sql embedded gateway.
When I enter the url http://s01:8081/apex I get an error (page cannot be displayed (404)). But when I enter http://s01:8081/apex/f?p=4550:1:1481295403790110 the apex logon page appears and everything works well.
For testing I turned on debug logging and entered again http://s01:8081/apex
The trace file contains the following logging entries:

Embedded PL/SQL Gateway: (wpu.c,513) in init state
Embedded PL/SQL Gateway: (wpx.c,688) Shutdown has been called
How can I solve this issue?
Thanks
MarkusHi!
Thanks for your reply!
I'm using apex 4.0 on oracle 10.2.0.4 enterprise edition with the embedded pl/sql gateway. I've to instances on this server (dev and prod). The development instance works without any problems.
The query returns:
ORA-24231: Database Access Descriptor (DAD) APEX not found
ORA-06512: in "SYS.DBMS_SYS_ERROR", line 86
ORA-06512: in "SYS.DBMS_EPG", line 58
ORA-06512: in "SYS.DBMS_EPG", line 299
After googling or searching on metalink for the error message I'm redirected to oracle documentation which tells me the reason for the error but nothing about to correct it - that's why I love oracle documentation so much...
Cause: The specified Database Access Descriptor (DAD) did not exist.
Action: Make sure the name of the Database Access Descriptor (DAD) is correct and the DAD exists.
Thanks

about:home is blank at Win xp, search is working at firefox 4 at win7.
Hello spidermains,
Happy to see that I have a friend in that adventure
Look I have a blog entry here:
http://www.happytocode.com/post/Can-I-use-the-new-Apple-USB-Aluminium-keyboard-o n-Windows.aspx
That post describes all the steps I followed to extract the drivers from the dual boot camp CD.
I'm using a PC, only a PC. I do not have any Apple computer (yet).
When I mention boot camp, I mean the boot camp CD on one side and the boot camp utilities on the other side. To be more specific the tool I'm talking about is the kbrmgr.exe
That tool sits in the systray and is handling the special keys of the keyboard.
If you have other questions... let me know,
John. -
Issues with start page and default headings
Hello there. I'm trying to give our school newspaper's webpage an overhaul using BC (without dreamweaver) and have run into two problems.
First off, every time I set one of my pages as the start page, it doesn't stick. I've named it home, hit start page, base url still says no default start page. I've tried creating a new page called index, and it still doesn't work.
Base URL: http://bellmagazine.businesscatalyst.com/
Desired Home page: http://bellmagazine.businesscatalyst.com/index
My second problem is visible on both links. Above and below the content are numerous links and text about BC, along with a floating "report abuse" button. I cannot find these in either the design or html tabs, and would like to remove them from my site. How do I accomplish this?Hi,
I've checked your site and was able to set the domain's start page to reference the /home page as required.
This is appears working at the moment.
In regards to the "abuse report" button that will remain visible only in trial. Once a site is upgraded this button will be removed automatically.
Kind regards,
-Sidney -
Start page is changed when I start firefox even when I set it back to my default in the
some program or script is running when I open FF 6.0 that changes the default start page. If I edit the prefs.js file it still gets changed to some gambling site when I open FF
Becky,
It seems that the issue is caused by a corrupt folder called en_US or similar (depending on language) within the Adobe Illustrator 18 Settings folder, see post #7 by Jules in this thread,
https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1595766
so the solution should be to move or rename that folder (or the whole Adobe Illustrator 18 Settings folder).
You can find the folder in Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed.
As a temporary roundabout way, you can select the lower rectangle to the right of the rainbow and DoubleClick to apply that to change the top rectangle and the values: the lower colour is the right one. -
No Start Page
Could not display this Web Site as no Start Page has been configured. To configure a default starting page, set one of your Web Pages to be the Start Page. Please contact your Administrator for more information."
Not sure why this is happening. dallaseasterrun.comHi Paul,
It appears you've managed to address this issue - I'm not encountering a "No Start Page" error when navigating to your site.
Cheers. -
I love my start page. It's nice and big with the Google search engine bar and Firefox earth symbol attached. I'm positive that the new version of Firefox will cause me to lose this particular start page so I refuse to do the update. If I download the new version and this happens I won't know how to get it back (tho' I did do it once and lost the start page so I went back into my Mac time machine and got the old version back. I was so relieved.) Thank you.
If I recall correctly, you are talking about the default start page. To check if this is correct, type '''about:home''' in the awesome bar. If this is the same as your homepage, it will still be there when you update.

I'm using Windows XP on a PC and Windows 7 on a MacBook Pro.
In both cases, as my start page I use "http://www.google.be/firefox?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:nl:official"
Under the Googleframe stays the message "U gebruikt niet de nieuwste versie van Firefox. Upgrade vandaag om het beste uit het internet te halen!"
False: my Firefox is already up-to-date.You are indeed up to date. Firefox stopped using that address as its default start page when 4.0 came out - the page you're using may be (wrongly) assuming that if you're looking at it, you must still be on Firefox 3.6.
If you [[How to set the home page#w_restore-the-default-home-page|restore the default home page]] you should get more up-to-date information.
